Old Aguata youths hush down Soludo, Ezeife, others
...insist their voices must be heard

It seems the youths are finally taking their right of place in Anambra State with the recent uprising against the manipulations of the elites in political matters. This explains the scenario that played out recently with the interruption of some Old Aguata Stakeholders at Amaokpala, Orumba North LGA, during a meeting purportedly meant to endorse the sitting governor, Mr Willie Obiano, for second tenure.

Eyewitness reports that among the prominent men present during the meeting were three former deputy governors of Anambra State, all from Old Aguata; Ugochukwu Nwankwo, Emeka Sibudu, Okey Udeh; Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former governor; Anambra South APGA chairman, Chief Titus Anagbogu; former CBN governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, and Bar. Anthony Ezekwonna, Special Assistant to the incumbent governor on Political Matters.

It was gathered that the meeting which was tagged a meeting of Old Aguata Union was orchestrated by the above named clique during which they stood up one after another to give reasons why members of Old Aguata should support the second term ambition of Obiano.

It was just as Titus Anagbogu moved a motion for the endorsement that a youth leader from Ezira, Comrade Emmanuel Agu, sprang to the fore of the gathering screaming "objection, the voice of the people must be heard!" His objection was echoed by over 200 other young people among the crowd.

The youth leader decried what he called the imposition of a candidate on the people of Old Aguata without seeking their consent.

"We refuse to continue in the ignorance of you old men in our union, who collect money and sell our collective birthright. We are tired of being relegated to the deputy position," he said.

He said that it was most unfortunate that people from Old Aguata have a candidate like Godwin Ezeemo emerge from them and yet are seeking to endorse an external person who is "incapable of delivering quality dividends of democracy."

Another young person raised his voice at the same time saying that he was appalled that the people's consent was not sort after but they have orchestrated the gathering to impose a candidate on them.

The source said that since the inception of democratic rule in Nigeria, Old Aguata has never gone beyond deputising in government adding that a majority of Old Aguata youths believe Ezeemo is their opportunity to break that jinx.

Buddhism - "The Best Religion in the World" award


The Geneva-based International Coalition for the Advancement of Religious and Spirituality (ICARUS) has bestowed "The Best Religion in the World" award this year on the Buddhist Community.

This special award was voted on by an international round table of more than 200 religious leaders from every part of the spiritual spectrum. It was fascinating to note that many religious leaders voted for Buddhism rather than their own religion although Buddhists actually make up a tiny minority of ICARUS membership. Here are the comments by four voting members:

Jonna Hult, Director of Research for ICARUS said "It wasn’t a surprise to me that Buddhism won Best Religion in the World, because we could find literally not one single instance of a war fought in the name of Buddhism, in contrast to every other religion that seems to keep a gun in the closet just in case God makes a mistake. We were hard pressed to even find a Buddhist that had ever been in an army. These people practice what they preach to an extent we simply could not document with any other spiritual tradition."

A Catholic Priest, Father Ted O’Shaughnessy said from Belfast, "As much as I love the Catholic Church, it has always bothered me to no end that we preach love in our scripture yet then claim to know God’s will when it comes to killing other humans. For that reason, I did have to cast my vote for the Buddhists."

A Muslim Cleric Tal Bin Wassad agreed from Pakistan via his translator.

"While I am a devout Muslim, I can see how much anger and bloodshed is channeled into religious expression rather than dealt with on a personal level. The Buddhists have that figured out." Bin Wassad, the ICARUS voting member for Pakistan ‘s Muslim community continued, "In fact, some of my best friends are Buddhist.

"And Rabbi Shmuel Wasserstein said from Jerusalem, "Of course, I love

Judaism, and I think it’s the greatest religion in the world. But to be honest, I’ve been practicing Vipassana meditation every day before minyan (daily Jewish prayer) since 1993. So I get it."

However, there was one snag - ICARUS couldn’t find anyone to give the award to. All the Buddhists they called kept saying they didn’t want the award.

When asked why the Burmese Buddhist community refused the award, Buddhist monk Bhante Ghurata Hanta said from Burma, "We are grateful for the acknowledgement, but we give this award to all humanity, for Buddha nature lies within each of us." Groehlichen went on to say "We’re going to keep calling around until we find a Buddhist who will accept it. We’ll let you know when we do."

I wept for my state after watching this rally.
The money spent on hiring entertainers could have done a lot more on patching our bad roads...

I wonder when we'll start thinking aright in this state.

Reliable sources from the camps of major opposition parties in Anambra State have indicated increased tension among their rank and files with the recent activities of Stanley Nkwokah, the 36 year-old deputy governorship candidate of the Progressive People's Alliance, PPA.
"We know that a lot of people are usually seen at rallies held by these parties, but it would surprise you that most people in these crowds will vote for PPA. It is evident that they are the only party with the most credible governorship duo," an APGA ward executive said.

An APC member informed the reporter that he has known Stanley Nkwokah as a politician to reckon with in Idemili which was what earned him the prestigious "Igwe Ndi Youth in Idemmili North) and that since his emergence as Godwin Ezeemo's deputy, APC in Idemili has been holding meeting to strategise on how to battle PPA in their local government area.

This came as the 36-year old consultant-turned deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Stanley Nkwokah of the PPA commenced massive youth mobilisation at the various communities and among the various pressure groups in the state.
Representing Ezeemo recently at a Catholic Youth Organisation deanary function in Blessed Irene Tansi Catholic Parish, Umudioka, Nkwokah enjoined the youths to join the PPA movement as it is the only one with genuine plans for youths as it concerns education and empowerment.

In his words,
"Which other candidate has told you that he would be sincere with our common resources?
"Which other candidate has plans to implement free primary education, improve quality of electric power supply and roads and provide skill acquisition and mentoring centres?"

On another occasion, while addressing the press, Nkwokah highlighted that the PPA governorship candidate is the only home-based politician with investments within the state while others are imported.
"Who would be more passionate about the development of a state; one with investments in the state or one that lives outside the state and only visits during election period," Nkwokah asked.

A child prodigy has been reported at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Awada in Anambra State. He was discovered by Mr Godwin Chukwunaenye Ezeemo during his routine worship service with the church last sunday.

Orient Daily reporter was on ground to capture the moment. The boy, Philip Uchechukwu Ozoukeje, 6 years old, was seen playing the wooden gong (ekwe) like a professional with the church choir as they led the various high points of the mass.

Ezeemo, while addressing the church, said that watching the boy perform with the band gave him nostalgic feelings and charged churches, regardless of denomination, to return to teaching values and enforcing positive actions from a child's early age just as it is being done for Philip.

Wonders shall never end. Yesterday in church, a lad who should be less than 5 years old was seen playing one of the most complicated instruments in a Catholic Church choir somewhere in Onitsha. (Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Iba Pope, Awada). And he was so good at it that i had to take a short video clip of him at it. Look out for this child as he would definitely make exploits later in life. Kindly share to encourage parents to send their kids to be part of such ennobling activities.

As fate would have it, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, who was also present to worship with the church took notice and was visibly moved as he watch the young man maintain tempo all through the service unguided. He also saw other even younger kids being coached as the service went on.

Ezeemo, making reference to the kid while making his speech, emphasised the need for a return to such church programs instead of the inordinate emphasis on money making and worship as is seen in churches in present times.

Of course, Ezeemo strengthened the child's behaviour with a cash gift and an exclusive photo shot.

What is trending now is how the lie told by Willie Obiano's media aides was exposed. The story went that two girls that were sponsored to a debate competition who came last position took pictures with the governor of Anambra State while brandishing placards bearing "we won" only for someone to check the website of the competition and saw that they actually failed woefully. Disillusioned Anambrarians are venting their anger at the deception now recalling several other deceptive information that had been passed on by the same government.

If you recall, I shared a post here about three girls from Anambra state who went to Bali, Indonesia and (supposedly) won the World Schools Debate. They are the ones in this picture, with their state governor.
My heart is bleeding now as I tell you what actually happened. The debate consisted of 53 countries. Nigeria, represented by those girls from Anambra placed a distant 48 out of 53!!! Now that was not the problem.
The problem is, probably the teachers or some other persons presented the teachers and the girls to the state governor as the winners of the debate. They printed a giant poster proclaiming WORLD CHAMPIONS. Both the teachers and the students worked in collusion. And that was how they were presented to the state governor who received them with beaming smiles. And quickly rewarded them with cash and sponsorship programmes to schools of their choice.
Thanks to technology someone now saw the link and found out that the team and students scammed their own governor and deceived the whole of Nigeria, Africa and the world. What a shame. Now, are these the leaders of tomorrow? The signs ahead are dark and ominous. I weep. World Champions my bootlace!

The Maxi Okwu led faction of All Progressive Grand Alliance known as Movement for Greater Anambra State, MOFGAS, came out enmasse today to declare APGA bastardised as they endorsed Ezeemo and People's Progressive Alliance, PPA as the credible leadership that would move Anambra forward.

Speaking during the event of endorsement which saw more than 200,000 MOFGAS members converge on Emmaus House, Awka, Obi Okafor, Onowu Okpuno, chairman of event (MOFGAS stakeholder) alleged that APGA has more than 10 court cases and has kept on bastardising the noble ideals of the founding fathers. He then described Ezeemo as a gentleman to the core that has a reputation of keeping his words.

He said the Maxi Okwu faction is adopting Ezeemo as their candidate. He said that as humans, we always seek improvement. He observed that the restiveness in the south east is because the down trodden are neglected. " Igbos have investment in other cities, but Ezeemo brought his own home. In line with Ojukwu's admonition. If Ezeemo becomes the governor I know that all of us will smile," he enthused.

Comrade MI Okeke, Convention committee chairman. MOFGAS said that the group is a benchmark of excellence and sole promoter, advocate of good governance and leadership development in Anambra State. He narrating how the group was etched out of APGA attributing it to the present government's ineptitude, rascality and extravagance. He said that the group has identified Godwin Ezeemo as the only candidate with a precedence of matchless passion for Anambra having contributed immensely to the economic growth of Anambra State.

He therefore said that MOFGAS has endorsed Ezeemo and would move on from the event to commence issue based progressive campaign aimed at redeeming Anambra State and people.

"We will address the moral deficit and Gestapo-like government that has led to the breakdown of our value system, causing slow pace of development in the State," he said.

Edwin Okonkwo, PPA National Deputy Chairman said he was enthralled at the personality of Ezeemo. He said that Ezeemo had inspired him to put group interest over personal interest in politics and called Ezeemo, the best thing that can happen to Anambra State.

Ezeemo said that his purpose is to sincerely attend to the basic needs of the people. He reiterated on his consuming love for his black brothers and intention to use Anambra State as a case in point in achieving an organised and comfortable as well as inspiring society. He promised that he would always be reachable and transparent when he becomes governor of Anambra State.

Raising up Ezeemo's hands by the National Chairman of PPA and the National Secretary of MOFGAS marked the highpoints of the event.

Nnamdi Kanu; Ekwulobia killings and the sun and the moon fable

Ekwulobia metropolis is under siege presently as members of joint task force comprising the army, navy, police and civil defence pitch their tent along the Aguata Secretariat Road and the Ekwulobia Township Stadium, to check the activities of Indigenous People of Biafra who are expected to hold a rally within the town and are rumoured to be expecting Nnamdi Kanu's visit.

As I made my rounds at Ekwulobia metropolis where Nnamdi Kanu is rumoured to be coming today, August 16, 2017, I was interacting with Okada men and hood boys to get a feel of what is going on.

It had already been announced on Radio Biafra that the military presence at Ekwulobia (actually joint task force) have claimed three lives.
On inquiry at Ekwulobia 'roundabout', the bike men said there was no one killed.

"What happened was that the force men fired tear gas canisters to disperse a crowd of young men and women who were gathering along Secretariat Road, just at the Orthon Palace Hotel junction.

"The crowd dispersed as a result only to start gathering in small pockets around the said spot."

I continued to the Township Stadium area where i met some hood boys and engaged them in a conversation to ascertain what actually happened.

They admitted they did not experience any gunshot around the area and only saw pictures of a dead person who was apparently shot in the head.

"We did not see or hear any gunshots, but we saw it online and we think the victim was an Okada man," the source said.

He however started telling me how Nnamdi Kanu is a great prophet who has the finger of God in his life.

"Do you know that the sun and the moon appears above his head every time he appears before the people?
"Do you know that all he told Buhari has come to pass?"

I laughed over the preposterous claims wondering sincerely if I can recall any such prophecy or any video on Nnamdi Kanu showing the sun and the moon appearing above him.

Till now, I still cannot find any person at the scene of the joint task force operation or in Ekwulobia who experienced the gun shot.

Towards 4:00pm, with the announcement of Nnamdi Kanu postponing his visit to Sunday, the people dispersed and the joint task force were recalled.

Group absolves Obiano
...insists on merit-based election

A group of Igbo stakeholders drawn from various political parties, Igboezue group, has said that the sitting governor of Anambra State should be absolved of his inadequacies given he did not work for his present position while insisting on merit-based politics as against party-politics which they opined has been retarding Igbo land and Nigeria at large.

Speaking during a meeting held at Awka, Anambra State capital, the National president of the group, Maazi Pius Uchenna Okoye observed that most parties that say they are for the progress of Igbos have been discovered to work for their selfish interest alone.

Maazi Okoye said that the group seeks to identify and institute credible leaders who have love for Igbo people and clean antecedents adding that Godwin Chukwunaenye Ezeemo, PPA guber candidate meets the criteria.

He told Anambra people to learn from the mistake they made in Obiano who was not prepared for governor but was imposed on Anambra people and should therefore not be blamed for his failure.

"It is clear to us that Ezeemo has the fear of God and good conscience and is very passionate about Anambra people.

" I am from Anambra North like the governor but I will nor support evil because I come from the same senatorial zone with Obiano," he said.

Grace Anekwe, a woman leader in Anambra state recounting her experience in the North, said that Northerners do not make so much fuss about party like Igbos do.

She opined that leadership is not given but earned observing that party plays little or no role after elections and therefore does not deserve so much emphasis.

She also charged all governors to wait for people to ask for their reelection based on their perception of his performance instead of clamouring for it.

"Let the electorate beg you to return after four years; not the other way round. Let your works speak for you," she said.
