BusinessIndigenous Solar Tech Will Reduce Epileptic Power Supply In Nigeria – OVUS(08030 by Spiritscience(op): 9:23am On Jul 23, 2019
Indigenous solar tech will reduce epileptic power supply in Nigeria – OVUS(08030958346)

Engr Obi Vincent Ugochukwu is an inventor and Electronics Engineer with special interest in Mechatronics research. He is the founder of Creative Youth Research Fellowship (CYF) and also founder and director of OVUS Electrotech Nigeria Limited, which specialises in the fabrication of indigenous solar and mechatronic technologies.
In this interview with O’STAR EZE, he suggests ways to ending epileptic power supply through the invention of locally made solar energy, among other issues.

Do you think solar energy has been adequately explored in Nigeria?
Not at all. We have not even started. This is because, most of the people, who went into the business before now stigmatised the people. The people are stigmatised so much that they do not believe that solar is real. But you can see that everything here is powered by solar. We turned off the street lights, but if we turn it on, you would find that every part of this compound and street will be lighted up by one small solar inverter. At Mbosi Girls Secondary School junction and other junctions in Mbosi here, you will find a small but powerful solar street light. I mounted them with the financial support of Engr Igboanusudu, a fellow engineer from Mbosi.
The first people that went into the business in Nigeria were not engineers but opportunists. Those of them that were engineers were not technicians, and those that were technicians were not engineers. I work both as a technician and an inventive researcher. It is hard to find the engineer, the technician and the inventive researcher in one man. So, these people get into the business and install products they bought from outside the country and they cannot maintain it or sustain it. It makes people like us that build the solar powered inverter from the scratch to be attacked by such people, because of their previous experience. You might be doing a genuine project and they would be planning to owe you. But those that know us pay up and enjoy our reliable services. I was the one that installed the solar inverter in Nnamdi Kanu’s home, which made it possible for them to record all that transpired in his house during the military invasion and transmit to the world. I built the solar in Obi Igwe Oba Ajamma’s house in Asaba. So, those who know us know that we are reliable. Unlike others in the business, we build the solar powered device from the scratch with local materials capable of powering refrigerators and AC, etc. We produce the transformers ourselves. For the first time in this country, we punch the lamination and do the coiling and the circuit ourselves, couple it and it is working. We do this every year with our IT students and they see it works before their eyes.
For instance, not everybody can afford the foreign solar systems that can be used to fully charge phones. So, we saw an opportunity in that too and started using cheap materials to build these simple affordable solar systems with which people can fully charge their phones even at night. In summary, Nigerians are not yet accustomed to using solar.

What innovations have been discovered with regards to solar that makes it more attractive in the present time?
There are a number of them. This idea of solar is such that the solar panel is just a battery. When the sun is shining on it, it can generate and regenerate DC power. But it is made in such a way that the voltage is higher than that of normal battery. The concept is that once the panel can work as a DC (Direct Current) source and the sun is shining on it. Once the power is higher than that of the normal battery, that panel can charge a battery. That is where the invention comes in. We, as engineers, now know that we can use a charged battery to power an oscillator and the oscillator will supply a transformer and the transformer will step it up. You now have your 220 volts or the DC volts to power your home appliances. It is now left for us to look at the limitations of the conventional power source and embrace the alternative. We do not enjoy power supply here in Mbosi, there is no power at all. So, we resorted to solar system as a more reliable power source. Another limitation of the conventional power is that it usually burns people’s gadgets. So, we set the solar in such a way that it cannot burn gadgets. We customise the solar we build for you so that it suits your energy needs without spoiling any of your gadgets. Solar is also a soundless power source, unlike generator that makes noise. You might also use it to power your security gadgets like cameras for protecting your home or business places. We programme the solar gadget for you such that it will come on or shut down at specific times. It gives you control over the solar. This is one edge we have over others that import the solar they install from abroad. We are out to solve the peculiar problems of the people as it concerns power; as long as they are ready to cooperate with us. After the military invasion in Umuahia, when everybody deserted Kanu’s home, I went there and repaired those components of the solar that were damaged. People were shocked. We give 10 years guarantee wherever we install our devices.

Are you satisfied with the level of patronage you enjoy in the solar business?
We enjoy zero patronage from the government. Government's grant is not for people like us. The only grant I ever got was the one I got as a student in UNN. I got the grant from Prof. Nebo, our then vice chancellor. Then, I was into mass production of motorcycle and car parts, temperature controllers, incubators and furnaces. As the first black man to build robot that walked and talked in Abuja (broadcasted by NTA, Abuja) they gave me a plague with a copy presently in the VC’s office and my office. That was in 2005. I did not get any reasonable support from government, except to lodge us in big hotels. I was invited to represent Nigeria in Japan as the first Nigerian to appear in that exhibition. I did not get any support and I did not go for that programme till today. It was there in Abuja that I was told to leave the robot work, that it was too advanced for Nigeria. I was moving faster than the whiteman in many technological innovations; our creativity is working faster but we are not getting the support. I have tried severally to reach the government, but I have not been able to do so. We build the solar powered streetlights from the scratch, using those things that had been condemned as useless. Every local government in Nigeria should have, at least, one of OVUS' 5kva solar inverter, so that they would have constant power supply for workers. Every street should have the OVUS solar powered streetlight that has sensors that make it come on and off by itself. Individuals and governments have the money but they invest it wrongly. I am confident that our indigenous solar technology can heal epileptic power problem in Nigeria.

What do you think needs to be done to minimise the challenge of epileptic power supply in Nigeria?
Persistent power failure in Nigeria is politically driven. The foundation of power establishment, regulations and laws are faulty, starting from the whiteman and workers at Kainji dam. My plan is to develop a 20 kva solar plant for each of the ten villages in Mbosi. That means Mbosi will be solar powered for the next 100 years. They will have solar power to watch their TV, and use other gadgets. So, if the government could empower private individuals to generate power through the solar system, the problem of power will be solved. Also, there is need to challenge the constitutional foundation of Nigeria and remove all those factors that are militating against our socio-economic development as a people. This can be initiated by the government or by the people through legal means.

What has been your experience as Nigerian inventor?

The experience has 20 percent social success and 80 percent social failure. Our inventions are hundred percent successful, but in terms of experience with our people, it has not been smooth. Our people have more confidence in foreign products than in our indigenous products. The tendency to support us in our inventions is no there. Our people lack orientation for invention. They see it that they have to buy everything. It is something that has been engraved in our subconscious minds over the decades. For universities that give us inventive ideas to develop, they would give us time and pressurised us to meet the deadline; and even if one is having challenges during the invention, one is not expected to talk about it. But when one is successful, they will take the glory. So, if you are inventing anything or developing an innovation and you want to do it right, you have to sponsor it with your personal money. Government needs to build a culture of invention in the minds of our people. I have trained thousands of UNN, COOU, UNIZIK, IDAH POLY, ESUT, MOU, IMT, Auchi Poly students, and other citizens and foreigners in advanced electronics, solar, Mechatronics and softwares since 2003.

Nairaland GeneralKevin Onyema, 60 Others Get Community Service Award From Aguata by Spiritscience(op): 5:38pm On May 13, 2019
To mark 43rd years of its creation, the 14 communities that make up Aguata local government area, Saturday, May 11, 2019, rolled out their drums at the council secretariat in Ekwulobia to celebrate 60 sons and daughters as well as friends, who have contributed significantly in the socio-economic development of the area; and, as well, distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour.
Prominent among them was Chief Kevin Onyema who was decorated for his entrepreneurial exploits and community service.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of the organizing committee, who is also a former Transition Committee chairman of Aguata LGA, Chief Titus Anigbogu, said that the celebration, which has become an annual event, was initiated by the council to reinforce positive impact, hard work and excellence in service.

He said that members of the various communities were allowed to nominate those deserving of the awards in their various communities in order to ensure transparency.
He stated that the awards were divided into such categories as Entrepreneurial and Community Service Awards, Humanitarian and Community Service Awards, as well as Excellence in Business and Humanitarian Awards, adding that the intention was to motivate sons and daughters of the local government to imbibe virtures of community service, hard work and excellence.

“Today, we mark the founding of Aguata local government area, which was created in 1976. We thought it wise that the best way to do this is to recognise indigenes and friends alike, who have contributed creditably in the development of the area. While we initiated this exercise, we gave it to the communities to choose from within their various communities those deserving of the award in order to ensure that the awardees are nominated based on unanimous decision of the communities,” he said.

Anagbogu added that the council is working towards institutionalising the date as its founder’s day, so as to ensure continuity.
Chief among the 60 award recipients include Governor Willie Obiano and his wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, who were honoured with humanitarian service award for their various contributions in community development.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Willie Obiano, who was represented by the chairman, Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Sir Peter Egenti, described the event as a laudable exercise. He described Aguata LGA as a great council with many notable sons and daughters. He also thanked the council for recognising him and his wife. He also reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue encouraging rapid development in the state by improving on its security apparatus; adding that plans are underway to install CCTV cameras across the state.
Egenti, who was also recognised as the best chairman of local government service commission the state has ever had, lauded Aguata Transition chairman, Hon. Ezeibe, who he said, has been invaluable to him in his effort to transform the state’s local government system.
Chief Kevin Onyema, one of the award recipients, who was honoured with “Award of Excellence in Community Development,” appreciated the local government council for the recognition. Onyema, an industrialist, noted that the gesture would spur him to do more in community service and job creation.
“I am highly elated at this recognition, and I am resolved to continue to contribute positively in the development of my community. Though I am an international businessman, yet, my heart is always at home, thinking of how best to contribute to the development of my town and Anambra in general,” he said.
Another award recipient, Air Vice Marshal Chukwuma Mojekwu, Rtd., from Aguluezechukwu, thanked the council for honouring him. He encouraged youths at the area to imbibe good characters and eschew vices.
Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers of the council area, the traditional ruler of Ezinifite-Aguata, HRH Igwe Chukwuma Bob Orji, lauded the exercise, and said it had the support of traditional rulers of the area.
Colourful displays by various cultural dance groups, and many other side attractions added glamour to the event.

HealthDouble Tragedy: Hospital Detains Corpse Of Sickler Over N73,000 by Spiritscience(op): 9:12pm On May 06, 2019
The day sickle cell law was passed by the Anambra state House of Assembly has been described as another day of mourning by members of the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, the organisation that initiated and drove the idea.

The day the law passed was the same day that one of their own, a 15 year-old Chidozie Nwankwo, who had been battling with a stroke that kept him bedridden for some months, died.

Nwankwo, from Ufuma, Orumba North LGA, and the only son of his widowed mum, was earlier admitted in a private hospital (name withheld).

President of the association, Aisha Edward, said when the association learnt that he was not getting better, it suggested he should be transferred to a teaching hospital. The organisation, on a fateful morning, sent money for taking care of him, only for the boy to die in the evening.

“He was admitted in a private hospital on Monday 29/4/19; and during the passage of the Sickle Cell Law the following day, I was called to send them money for blood which I transferred electronically to the mother, Mrs Elizabeth Nwankwo.  Chidozie finally died in the evening of Tuesday, 30/4/19 after blood transfusion,” she said.

Edward, therefore, pleaded on the teaching hospital to consider the pathetic conditions surrounding the death of the boy, cancel the debt he had incurred and release his corpse.

“The corpse is still in the hospital mortuary for non-payment of 73, 000. I am told that the Oxygen bill alone is 59,000

“Please, I am pleading with the management of NAUTH to have mercy and kindly reduce the bill for the widowed, who is also the mother of my deceased member.

She also pleaded with the general public to donate towards raising fund to offset the hospital bill on the official account details bellow:

EducationAuthor Attacks Reading Culture With Book by Spiritscience(op): 5:40am On Apr 30, 2019
By Imelda Eze

A renown award winning author and poet, O’star Eze, has launched an attack on the poor reading culture of Nigerian youths with a new book he released on Amazon recently.

The book titled, ‘Dad, after you left: memoirs of a fatherless child’, is presently being distributed to students in various schools across the country, which students form book clubs where they discuss the themes of the book and engage in debates, reviews and other creative projects that promote reading.

Speaking to newsmen recently, while establishing a book club in Aguata High School, Aguata, the author appreciated the well meaning Nigerians who have donated towards the ordering of the paperback copy of the book, ‘Dad, after you left” memoirs of a fatherless child.’

Eze disclosed that the book was his second published book, the first being a collection of poems with discussion aid questions titled, ‘Circles: for the love of wisdom’.

Speaking on what inspired the book, Eze said that the book was inspired by the wide acceptance and exciting ripples it generated when it was serialised on Orient Daily newspaper 5 years ago.

“I was asked to provide content for the page “Literature and Poetic License” on Orient Daily newspaper. I decided to start sharing some flashbacks I was getting of my bizarre childhood as a first son in a family where my father mysteriously left the house and disappeared into thin air. Immediately the first two series got on the public domain, I started receiving several reactions through email, phone calls and physical contacts. There were not all positive reactions though, but they were indications that the story stuck a cord in the human consciousness. I was convinced that it was meant to be told and a cerebral friend of mine, Dr Henry Duru, categorically told me to make it a book and here we are,” O’star Eze said.

On why he chose to donate the book for free to students and form book clubs with it, O’star Eze said, “I have always wanted to address the poor reading culture among our youths in this part of the world. I am a beneficiary of how books can fill in the gap in knowledge the absence of a proper role model creates, namely, a father. I am also a living witness to how reading can change one’s social status for the better. The book clubs are one of the ways I intend to help others partake in this grace of life called reading.”

O’star Eze appreciated Nze Chijioke Ezenwanwe for donating the 10 copies of the book used to start the Chijioke Ezenwanwe Book Club and enjoined other well to do Nigerians at home and in diaspora to be part of this project by contacting his team who will help them order copies of the book at subsidised rate and establish a unique kind of book club in any school of their choice.

According to the author; “This is a book that discusses the themes of orphans; man’s inhumanity to his fellow man; family; poverty in Africa; religion; puberty, writing therapy, to mention but a few. It is worth every kobo it is sold and should be in the hands of every young man or woman.”

PoliticsIf Our Lives Were In The Hands Of Oye...? by Spiritscience(op): 8:08pm On Apr 13, 2019
When we stand up in defense of mediocrity and negativity, only one thing stares us directly in the face- Failure!

Therefore, it is an established fact that those who are championing the cause of a new dawn in APGA's leadership are not the real enemies!

The true enemies of APGA are those who because of interests (of any kind), have decided to allow APGA rot in the hands of a man with so much greed and nothing in the line of sanity and competence.

Kudos must be given to genuine party men and women who against imminent threats and sanctions, are sticking their necks out in pursuit of the rebirth of the true APGA spirit and mantra of "Onye aghana nwanne ya. "

The benevolence of APGA has been made manifest in their call for the resignation of Chief Victor Oye as the National Chairman of APGA instead of his prosecution for the various offences he has committed against the party and humanity.

The murder of integrity and internal democracy within the party by Oye, is the height of anti-party activity!

The sale of party people's mandates to the highest bidder is the apogee of impunity and slight on the integrity and transparency for which APGA is known and through which the party has been able to exemplify good governance, through the personalities that have ascended positions of authority through its platform.

So, when next anyone asks you to allow Oye continue as the helmsman of APGA, simply ask them if they'd want their lives to be run by the same man, the same way he has run APGA in the past years.

Remember, evil thrive when good men do nothing.

See something, say something for the love of APGA and humanity.

CrimeShould Adultery Be Criminalised In Nigeria? by Spiritscience(op): 9:56am On Apr 12, 2019
By O’star Eze
Though adultery is one of the cardinal sins in the ten commandments of the Christian Bible, there seems to be a relaxed view of it in modern times. O’star Eze looks at what the people think about its status in the Nigerian law and whether it should be criminalised.

The recent adultery saga involving Ifeanyi Azotani whose wife, Tochukwu, accompanied by her sister, Ogochukwu Nwankwo stripped his mistress, Ogochukwu Okafor naked, and flogged her while videoing and later allegedly uploading the act on the internet, as well as the resultant outcome came as an eye opener to many who did not know that except in northern Nigeria, the act of sleeping with another man’s wife or another woman’s husband is no issue in the eyes of the Nigerian law.

In fact, the three principal actors involved in the crime were paraded like common criminals and were charged to court, while the alleged adulterer walked away with her head held high.

According to sections 387 and 388 of the Nigerian Penal Act, 1960, adultery is an offence only in the northern part of Nigeria. It is not an offence in the western, eastern and southern parts of Nigeria. Hence, adultery as a crime in states in Northern Nigeria, is punishable with 2 years imprisonment and or with an option of fine. In the other parts of Nigeria, no person can be charged to court for adultery.

Incidentally, while adultery is not a crime in the eyes of the law, the Nigeria law still says that when intolerable adultery has been proven, it can provide ground for the dissolution of a marriage, according to section 15 (2) (b) and section 26 of the Nigerian Matrimonial Causes Act; Anagbado v. Anagbado.

Arguments against criminalising adultery in Nigeria
The argument in support of keeping adultery out of the law court holds that adultery law in application tends to be gender sensitive, victimizing the female in the act while the male co-perpetrator goes scot free. Dr Jennifer Mike of the American University of Nigeria captured it thus;
“Adultery laws in Nigeria have deep Puritan roots of historical underpinnings in colonial English Common Law as well as Islamic jurisprudence.

“In medieval and early modern Europe, women were executed for adultery as a form of deterring them from the act. Some were Agnese Visconti (in 1391) and Catherine Howard, wife of Henry the VIII, (in 1542), both decapitated for allegedly engaging in adultery.
“The sharia penal code in Nigeria also prescribes death as punishment for adultery. An example is the section 126 v 127 of the Sharia Penal Code of Zamfara State”.
She gave example of the case of Safiya Hussaini, a nursing mother, and divorcee, who was charged with adultery and sentenced to death by stoning in 2002. The man involved with her, however, was not found with enough evidence to be convicted.

Another woman, Amina Lawal from Katsina was charged with conceiving outside wedlock and sentenced to death, but the father of the child was released for lack of evidence to convict him.
Dr Mike said in the African society women become victims of social discriminations while the men are allowed to keep concubines. She said that while she does not support adultery, she thinks that the parties involved should be allowed to settle their matter in divorce courts.

“The counterfeit pleasures of an illicit affair can never compensate for the severe emotional distress it causes to parties, children, and the society at large. However, criminalizing adulterous acts goes against the spirit of the constitutional provisions that guarantee individuals the right to life and will have a more devastating effect.

“Alternatively, morality should be better defined, as an argument for maintaining the laws and should be adequately enforced. If the legislation is meant to deter adultery because at the moment the law is redundant in its very purpose,” she submitted.

Supporting Dr Mike, Barrister Mbazulike Amechi, a Nigerian legal practitioner and politician reiterated that adultery is more of a moral cum religious thing and should be left out of the criminal law system. His argument was that Nigeria has not adopted a state religion and “therefore bringing in things that will encumber our laws with religious injunctions could be harmful.”

On the premise that adultery leads to other crimes like battery and murder, Barrister Amechi said that there are several other factors that cause the listed crimes and that adultery is the least of the factors and should therefore be left alone by the legal system.
“Adultery is not the biggest issue before us. Why sensationalise it. How many crimes or homicides are direct results of adultery compared to alcohol, smoking and other similar factors? Moral codes could be interpreted in various ways depending on cultures and experiences. Could there then be legal adultery where one at the invitation of the couple engages in adultery with one of the spouses as in Igboland where people seek a male issue or in case of cultures where a woman marries a woman to maintain a bloodline and the duty falls on a married member of the family. The issue is better left as it is. You cannot codify it else you may kill the whole country,” he said.

Towing the same line, Barrister Daniel Nwafor, said that it is not the business of the law to enforce morality. He argued that given that adultery is sexual intercourse with consent between two persons out of whom one is married, the law should focus on more offensive acts and not moralities.

In his words, “criminalizing immorality will bring concussion because we would not know which sense of morality to adopt; should it be christians’, muslims’, hindus’ or traditional religion adherents’.”
Barrister Nwafor however advised that spouses who suffer indirect emotional damages as a result of adulterous act of their partners can sue for harbouring and enticement and obtain monetary damages against the person that enticed their wives or husbands as provided by the Law of Tort.

Citing sections 37 and 38 of 1999 constitution of Nigeria, another lawyer on the basis of anonymity opined that criminalizing adultery may infringe on the rights of traditionalists whose religion permits them to keep more than one wife, adding that monogamy is a foreign concept in most African cultures and that some cultures even endorse what is considered adulterous practices.

Tita Nze, a veteran journalist, in the same vein, said that even though he is a Christian, he does not think that the legal system should recognize the commandment; thou shall not commit adultery, given that the act is usually consensual. He alleged that even the Igbo culture accepts multiple relationships as long as it is not under duress.

“Iko and agiri (both terms that refer to a socially recognized extramarital affair in ancient Igbo culture) was well accepted by the Igbo society,” he said.
He said that morally speaking some persons who indulge in adultery may be doing good to their individual families given that in some homes, the man may not be able to perform sexually again or be able to fend for their family and the woman would need to seek help from outside the home.

“Some husbands cannot perform again and their wives engage in adultery thereby secretly helping the family not to scatter. Some couples cannot bear children due to health challenges or other factors and they therefore engage in adultery in other to get children and thereby save face,” Nze said.

Argument for criminalising adultery

However, the Anambra State chapter chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Moses Ezedebego has a divergent view from the popular. He argued that given that the law recognizes homosexuality as a crime, it would be hypocritical not to do the same with adultery which offends the spouses of the persons who engage in the act.
Arguing further, Bishop Ezedebego said, “if tampering with another person’s property without the person’s consent is considered a crime by the law, it should recognize adultery, which has to do with tampering with another person’s spouse.”

Conclusion

It appears that the popular stance among Nigerians is that adultery should not be criminalized given that attempts to do so in the past and in northern Nigeria had only succeeded in victimizing only the womenfolk found guilty of committing the act. However the general consensus is that not criminalizing adultery does not justify the act as it still remains a moral crime condemned by the Christian and Muslim scriptures and has been a predominant factor that has led to the dissolution of marriages in Nigeria as well as several homicide cases reported on the media.

PoliticsBeware: APGA Is Being Sold A Mediocrity Dummy By Oye by Spiritscience(op): 10:46am On Apr 11, 2019
Just when it became obvious that a large percentage of APGA faithful are fed up with the selfish leadership of Chief Victor Ike Oye and are demanding he either resigns or steps aside at the expiration of his tenure, a laughable dummy attempting to save his face started appearing on social media claiming that it was Oye's leadership that made it possible for APGA to win federal house seats in other states aside Anambra.

Really?

Let the facts speak for themselves, for real:

1. During the primaries, for the first time in the history of political party operation, Oye oversaw the selling of delegate forms at N10,000.

2. In the home state of the party; Anambra, where the governor recorded victory in the 21 local government areas of the state, Oye could not win one single senatorial seat.

3. In the home state of APGA where APGA held all the powers, Oye won a miserly 3 seats out of the 11 seats of the federal house of representatives.

4. Everyone knows that it was the very poor performance of APGA during that first election and when the state governor saw that his seat was under threat if he did not intervene, that made him order all his appointees starting from the commissioners to the Executive Aides to go to their various wards and make sure they deliver their wards for the state house of assembly. Oye was nowhere to be found. This gave APGA the level of face saving victory it recorded at the house of assembly elections.

4. That an APGA candidate won a seat in Benue, Abia and elsewhere were outcomes of sheer luck and personal capacity the candidates involved had, who could have won under any other platform.

It therefore does not in anyway translate to any accolade for Oye given that he was never seen anywhere around those places when those candidates were campaigning.

5. Bearing in mind that APGA was already on the path to greatness given how strong it started, would one say that APGA growth rate is going up or had taken a drastic dip in the light of these facts before us? 0/3 is equal to...? 3/11 is equal to...?

6. It is only a self deluded person who has sold his conscience for pittance that would still stand with the leadership of Oye after being privy to how the screening exercise that preceded the party primaries was conducted; how the candidates were made to part with several millions under false assurances and at the last minute, shoved aside. Many core party members were lost after that exercise and even though Oye and his cohorts allegedly smiled to the bank, APGA became a ghost of itself.

7. APGA now has the highest number of disloyal members, which was evident in the result of the presidential/ legislative elections, who are obviously disillusioned with the money grabbing trend set in motion by the Oye leadership.

8. The APGA that was personified by our impeccable leader, late Odumegwu Ojukwu, which was the beautiful bride that was packaged well by the former National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, has become a gang raped ugly maiden, thanks to the selfishness, greed and insensitivity of the Oye leadership.

The last leg of the tripod still holding APGA in relevance is Governor Willie Obiano and by the next three years, at the expiration of his tenure, an ominously brooding stupor await APGA if care is not taken now.

To restore the dignity of APGA, we join our voices to those of millions of other disillusioned APGAns to say OYE MUST GO!

It has become surprising and painful too, what APGA's leadership under Chief Victor Oye has snowballed into, with messy disregard for transparency and due process, and with no vision for the realization of the party's dream of becoming a formidable Political force in the Southeast and Nigeria.

When Sir Victor Umeh was the Chairman of APGA, though issues did came up as with any system, with clear vision and genuine efforts at carrying every one along, they were resolved amicably and the party waxed stronger.

Chief Oye, on the other hand, has moved far away from the reality that governs APGA, engendering an administration that has become a noisy market place where those with the highest amount buy the people's priced assets.

This was clearly seen and noticed during the last general election, where core party members were treated with scorn, like they don't matter in most states of the federation, denying APGA the very golden opportunity to push its frontiers, especially in the South East, it's supposed home base, all because of lack of vision.

It even took a comic dimension when Mr. Oye organized an 'arrangee' reconciliation of aggrieved aspirants at his house in Amawbia, showing them visible dissafection in the party.

It takes the gallantry of a leader to put things to order, and here the gallantry of Governor Willie Obiano in taking the bull by the horn played out, to salvage the condition.

Let it be known that no sane Army goes to war with a sick Commander.

Chief Oye's return as APGA National Chairman will no doubt, spell more doom for the party in Anambra State and further destroy its chances of making in-roads into other parts of the country.

There's no hope of repentance for a whose god is his stomach, who has no regards for morality, sanity or decorum.

The only way out for APGA is to change Chief Oye and enthrone a visionary leader with the knack for excellence.

This is the task ahead of us and one we must accomplish.

CrimeMirroring Apga Failed Leadership 1: When The Aggrieved Are Not Assuaged, doom... by Spiritscience(op): 4:17pm On Apr 07, 2019
Like the voice of one in wilderness, I cry out for the crooked paths of APGA, the true Igbo party, to be made plain and that mediocrity should be abhorred as in the days of yore.

The party's journey to inclusion in the political formation of Nigeria has been a tortuous one, propped by the sacrifices of committed Party men and past leaderships as well as the sterling performance of the Governors which the party's primaries had produced.

When we say that Anambra is APGA, the true picture is that the soul of the State had been bought over the years with the commitment and expertise with which successive APGA Governors have handled the administration of the State.

And now, one would ask, what happened to our Party's internal democracy under the watch of Chief Victor Oye from where APGA is expected to produce credible leaders for the state and nation?

The answer is best imagined and not felt as the party is presently haemorrhaging from the denial, injustice and uncontrolled quest for money that threw credibility, transparency and brotherhood to the wind during the Party's last primaries.

In a "bazaar-like" manner, tickets were sold to the highest bidder and co-aspirants were left in the cold against the party's mantra of "Onye aghana nwanne ya".

What was worse, the hasty institution of a shabby process of reconciliation which instead of hitting the nail on the head and reprimanding negativity, decided to take advantage of Governor Willie Obiano's goodwill and started dishing out threats to the aggrieved members who think the right things should be done.

And we went to the general elections and lost too many good men...!

Rewind to years back when APGA leadership under Chief Victor Umeh had a similar situation in its hands, proper amends were made and the party grew stronger.

If the Igbo adage, "I gaghi eti nwata ihe, si ya ebena akwa" (You cannot beat a child and tell him not to cry)  is anything to go by, then it is a given that Chief Oye has failed in one of the core requirements of his leadership task as APGA National Chairman.

The clouds are gathering! The rains will soon come and when it does, the only true hope of Igbo Political Survival cannot be washed away by the flood that will definitely ensue.

That is why Chief Oye must resign if truly his interest lies in the survival of APGA and not in its pocket.

PoliticsI Congratulate Atiku/obi... Buhari, If I Don’t Heal You, Jail Me – Prophet Udok by Spiritscience(op): 10:06pm On Feb 13, 2019
Prophet Okechukwu Daniel Udoka is not a regular Christian given the grace he claims to have to foresee events before they occur especially those events that affect the political life of the people and the world. In this exclusive interview with O’star Eze, he details the revelations he purportedly received from God concerning the United States, the most influential country in the world and the political affairs of Nigeria, the largest black country in the world especially as the general elections draw near

When did you discover that you have the grace of foreseeing what is about to happen?

To the glory of God it has been there from my childhood. But at times, we Igbos are more after money. But as time went, I discovered that most of what God tells me happens that way. Although I was not opportuned to let people know being that I am not under any ministry. So, those revelations, I used to share them with friends and at times on the pages of newspapers. But I am not happy that at times I am not able to share these revelations because of my business.

What was the first thing God showed you that happened?

They are uncountable. Many of what God showed me were connected to instant miracles. While I was still very tender, God would show me someone that is critically ill and on my way I will meet that person and because God had already shown me the person, I would have the passion to lay my hands upon that person and when I lay my hands, God will show Himself mighty. So it is not a question of whether I was a pastor or a reverend, it was just grace. It is true that I was born in a Christian family and was committed in Anglican children ministry. I moved from there to Scripture union while I was in secondary school and then to EFAC. Then I was seeing those miracles, but I did not have someone to carry me along. So, I discovered a special grace from God but I was deterred by money. I was more concerned on making money like others. But when God shows you something and you hide it and it finally comes to pass, you feel bad because you know that God shoed you those things to share to the people and prepare them for the eventuality.  As time went on when I started making some money, I decided to start disseminating the message God gave me this way because I know that whatever God says remains like that. So far I have talked about what God revealed to me, none of them have ever passed like that without coming to pass.

You said that God showed you the outcome of the presidential elections. What transpired exactly?

Well, I was not really interested in the politics of the United States and I did not even know that they were holding general elections. When I was having a quiet time, I saw myself in the United States of America. I saw a celebration. I was wondering what was happening and what I was doing there. And I was told that I was in the United States and that the celebration was for someone Obama was against that won the election. They did not call any name but the only thing I captured was that it was the person Obama was against that won the election. When I awoke, I started asking my brothers and friends if any election was coming up. As God may have it, they told me that US was preparing for election. I then related to them what I saw about the outcome. The journalists that I told about it then told me that Trump was the one Obama was against and that the election was going to hold in six months time. I did not remember about the revelation again until about two days before the election when some persons I shared the revelation with called me on phone. They told me that my prophecy was a lie and that Clinton was winning the election but I stood my ground and repeated what God had told me. Finally, the election was concluded and Donald Trump was announced the winner. So, there have been so many situations like this in the past.

You also gave some details on the outcome of 2017 Anambra State gubernatorial election. Can you tell us about it?

Yes, I gave details of the Anambra gubernatorial election. Unlike other prophets who just prophesied who will win the election, I went ahead to say who would come second and third. I said that election was going to be between Igbo party and Hausa party. When I was asked which was Igbo party and which was hausa party, I said that the Igbo party, APGA would take the first position and hausa party, APC, would take the second position. I also said that the PDP would take the third position. I said that if PDP took the second position, it means I did not see anything. I told them that I saw the grace that put Obiano there the first time returning him there whether he spends money or not. I also said overtaking is allowed. Why I said overtaking is allowed was because of the possibility of APC rigging the election. I said that Obiano should not abuse the grace God has given him.

What did God tell you about the state of Buhari: Is he being impersonated? Is he dead?

Well, I remember I prophesied about the death of Buhari in 2017 when I told the press that Buhari is alive and that heaven even said that Buhari will witness 2019 election. I said it that 2017 that if Buhari dies before the 2019 elections, let me be pronounced a fake prophet. I said that Buhari will live to witness the 2019 election but that the election will not favour him. I said that I saw a conflict but that I was not going to go into details. This was in 2017.

The general elections are around the corner already, so would you mind giving the details you saw about its outcome?

In details, God has chosen Atiku Abubakar as the next president of Nigeria. Whatsoever any human being is doing on earth cannot stop it. I had said in 2017 that an unexpected man would take the seat in 2017. Now, the man is around the corner, which is Atiku. I congratulate Atiku, the former vice president and his running mate Mr Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State. I envy them. I wish I am Mr Peter Obi and I ask him to remember me in his paradise. I had hinted on this in 2017. The prayers of the common man in Nigeria has been answered in Atiku. Atiku is not the messiah but he would be the starting point of the salvation of Nigeria. The messiah is coming but Atiku’s regime will be far better than four past regimes put together. I saw a plane crash of an official jet and another aircraft and men on agbada falling from them. God told me that any man that would want to stop Atiku from entering will go down and might not witness Atiku’s celebration of victory.

There are fears that there would be violence during the election. What are you seeing?

We have prayed against violence during the elections. I talked about conflict earlier but I know that God has taken control. When the election was going on, it was not favouring APC. I saw a different thing altogether. It was not free and fair. But children of God has prayed against that. I am not a full time minister but God has shown me so much love and grace. Even this morning God was telling me something but I was busy making calls for business. It is just that I am disturbed in the spirit and that is why I have to speak up what the mind of God is from time to time.

In conclusion what are you telling Nigerians?

My message to Nigerians to go out and obey the mind of God. He has chosen Atiku. He has even said that nothing will stop Atiku. Even if they plan negatively, God will thwart their plans. Even if we are hundred in Nigeria, and ten decide to cast their vote, a greater percentage will vote for Atiku. Whether we vote or not, Atiku will definitely win. Concerning Buhari, I have been praying for his health. If Buhari will test my anointing, let him call me. If he obeys God, that illness that has been taking him billions of naira, in 24 hours, the angels of the God, Allah, will perform a perfect miraculous healing on him. He just let the election go and he will receive instant miracle. He will bounce like a new born baby. I remember I was the only prophet that said Buhari was still alive in 2017 and that he will see the 2019 elections. If he obeys God, after the election, he should invite me, and if he does not get instant miracle, sound health and enjoy his old age, he should jail me for life. He will witness the power of God as of old. I love you, Buhari.

PoliticsPDP Alone Can Protect Igbo Interest - Okoli-akirika by Spiritscience(op): 10:23pm On Jan 06, 2019
…as PDP Anambra State mob Obi

By O’star Eze

Honourable Barrister Chibunna John Okoli-Akirika, chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Publicity Committee, Atiku/Obi Campaign Organisation, Anambra State insists that Nigerians should vote PDP because the party fields the best candidates and is the only party that can protect Igbo interest.

Okoli-Akirika said this while interacting with the press after the grand reception of Mr Peter Obi as the vice presidential candidate of the PDP by his teeming supporters and the entire Anambra State, which was preceded by an interdenominational prayer service at Emmaus House, Awka.

He therefore advised Igbo people to vote PDP as “it is the only party that has the capacity to protect the Igbo interest unlike All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA."

“APGA, is not a national party and this is why their members are not proud of their presidential candidate,” he said.

Okoli-Akirika said that the event was also an opportunity for the party to show Anambra State people that PDP is rebranded and is poised to go into the elections and win.

“There was never a division in the PDP. There are bound to be controversies among every group of people. But what is important is what those involved make out of it and if it takes them further towards their ideal.

“Today, all the candidates from the state house of assembly to federal house of senate are here. All the PDP members from the wards, the local government areas, up to the state level and even from the national level are here.

The interdenominational service was officiated over by Alexander Ibezim, Anglican Bishop of Awka diocese. Prayers were said for the nation, the president and all political holders as well as for the forthcoming general elections for God to aid the people choose the right persons to take over reins of power politically.

In his sermon, Ibezim assured supporters of PDP and Atiku Abubakar/ Peter Obi presidential bid that with prayers, the Lord can grant them favour and make the PDP presidential candidates win the election.

Ibezim said that “the unstable economic political and insecurity that characterized our polity remained discouraging but the Lord has continued to give the people hope.

“Thank God we are not consumed. That we saw this new beginning is an eloquent testimony that the lord is not through with us,” he said.

Continuing, Ibezim said, “Prayer is the force that moves the invisible hand of God to action.” Citing the account of Nehemiah who prayed when the walls of Jerusalem were broken down, and the Lord granted him favour, he said that as Nigeria prays, God will grant the people favour in the new dispensation.

“It is our prayer that the lord will heal Nigeria,” Ibezim said.

He assured the people that nothing is too hard for God to do if we take it to Him in prayer enjoining all Christians to pray always and diligently for servant leaders in the new dispensation.

“Our country needs servant leaders. It is not about lobbying for position of power. It is sad that servant leaders are fast disappearing from earth. Many don't have the fear of God. Let us pray to God to give us leaders that are God fearing,” Ibezim said.

Ibezim opined that people in position of power no longer care for the majority of the people. He said that “Nigeria is characterised by underdevelopment occasioned by corruption.” Nigeria has stunted growth. Singapore and several other countries have gone ahead. But Nigeria remains backward.

Senator Ben Ndy Obi, in his vote of thanks, observed that it is everyone’s duty to find men and women of God that will rescue the country. “When the righteous lead the people, the people rejoice.” Obi said.

Oseloka Obaze, chairman, Campaign Council for Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, on his part, opined that Nigerian government works negatively and must be changed.

“We are now the poverty capital of the world. Trust and patriotism no longer exist among our people. More children are out of school today than three years ago. If we fail to vote out the ruling government, the nation is doomed.

“We are here because we have never had such a good team to rule Nigeria. Peter Obi is our son in whom we are well pleased. We are confident that with his record of service, he will do well as a vice president.

“We owe no one apology for supporting Peter Obi. Those who repudiate Peter Obi repudiate Igbo interest. Return PDP to power to rescue,” he said.

Climax of the event was when Ndubisi Nwobu, Anambra State chairman of the PDP officially welcomed Yule Edochie, Godwin Ezeemo and Honourable Iloh, state chairman of defunct APGA among others.

It was a roll call of Anambra State PDP stalwarts both those in political positions and candidates. Chief Ndubuisi Obuka Nwobu, PDP Anambra State Chairman; Rt Hon Chukwuka Onyema, Minority Leader at the Federal House of Representatives; Chris Uba, Senatorial Candidate, Anambra South; Iyom Uche Ekwunife, Senatorial Candidate, Anambra Central; Dr Uzochukwu Obiora Chira, PDP candidate for Federal House of Representatives, Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency were among those present at the event. Mr Peter was nearly mobbed by the crowd of people that came out to welcome him numbering over 20,000. He and his wife, Mrs Margret Obi were also laid hands on by the clergy men.

Peter Obi, appreciating the gesture, said that PDP is one, ready and willing to take over reins of power and make the country work again. "PDP, all the way," he said.

CrimeSickle Cell Patients Should Not Pay For Treatment - Philanthropist by Spiritscience(op): 3:35pm On Dec 29, 2018
...donates towards skill acquisition of APLSCD

By O’star Eze

Chief Ikenna Okafor, a business man and philanthropist has enjoined the federal government to consider subsidizing medical treatment of persons living with sickle cell disorder.

He said this during the 2019 thanksgiving service of Idi Ezeani Nzekwuabuo Foundation in Akwaeze, Anaocha LGA of Anambra State which hosted members of Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, APLSCD.

Chief Okafor opined that given the frequency of medical crisis amongst persons living with sickle cell disorder, as well the fact that their plight is not their fault but that of the society, persons living with sickle cell disorder should not be paying medical bills.

He observed that several sickle cell patients are stuck in and die in hospitals while others resort to self medication with its associated hazards because of the heavy medical bills their medical crisis tend to incur.

He then pledged to place the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder on annual N500,000 (Five hundred thousand naira) endowment fund through his foundation and donated 5 sewing machines, 5 weaving machines, 3 laptops to the association’s skill acquisition centre. Chief Okafor also pledged to continue supporting the activities of the association especially through ensuring more skill acquisition centres are established and equipped for the members and charged the association to ensure the items donated are made proper use of.

He then described APLSCD’s founder and president, Mrs Aisha Edward, as a firebrand and consistent sickle cell activist who has proven herself transparent and genuinely passion driven towards the eradication of the disorder and the improvement of the welfare of persons living with it.

“I have been following her activities for some years now and I can attest to the fact that she is sincerely passionate about eradicating sickle cell disorder and is transparent in her operation of the association. This is why I am confidently stretching out my arm of help to her and her association,” Chief Okafor said.

On her part, Dr Mrs Okafor, the wife gave free medical check up, drugs and first aid kits to members of the association through medical personnel from her Port Harcourt based medical centre; Sophike Medical Centre.

Appreciating Chief and Lolo Okafor, Mrs Aisha Edward disclosed that APLSCD has for the four years she piloted it, been able to achieve significant success in educating members of the public “especially the young and unmarried on the need to know their genotype and gender compatibility as a means to reducing the high rate of births of Sickle Cell Children.”

Edward however regretted that “Sickle Cell Patients across Anambra State and beyond have for long been traumatized and subjected to various degrees of exploitations and denials in the absence of a sickle cell law.”

She also disclosed that the organization has plans of producing a movie in partnership with well meaning individuals and organization which will go a long way in sensitizing the public beyond what the written materials which the organization had produced on the matter can achieve.

“We look forward to getting the attention of professionals in the movie industry to partner with us as their own contributions in the fight against Sickle Cell Anemia.

“This drama series will be premiered and aired in major television networks in Nigeria and beyond. African Magic, TVC, AIT and Social Media television are some of this television networks that will air the series.

“Our story line remains the fate of People living with Sickle Cell disorder in Contemporary Africa,” she said.

She appreciated the association’s chaplain, Rev. Fr. Barr. Obiora Okeke, who facilitated the partnership between the foundation and the association. Edward also pledged to continue to avail every opportunity to gain upper hand over the “deadly scourge; sickle cell disorder.”

PoliticsObi, Chira Describe Late Shagari As "Worthy Of Emulation" by Spiritscience(op):
By O’star Eze

Mr Peter Obi, Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2019 general elections, while mourning his demise, recently described late Alhaji Shehu Shagari, former president of Nigeria, as “worthy of emulation” .

Describing Shagari’s death as “a national loss”, Obi said that the late head of state embodied all the qualities of a good leader. He said that Shagari was dedicated to the progress of Nigeria and initiated several policies to facilitate that which included “green revolution.”

In his words, “Shagari's efforts towards the progress of Nigeria through policies such as 'Green Revolution' should spur younger politicians to always work for the good and progress of the country.

“The late sage was an urbane, humble, polished and tolerant politician.”

Obi therefore called on Nigerians to emulate his life of service, patriotism and devotion to ennobling values.

Dr Obiora Uzochukwu Chira, PDP candidate contesting for Member representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency on his part described late Shagari as "a model for politicians in Nigeria."

Speaking through a press release made available to our correspondent, Dr Chira said that Shagari was "one Nigerian that was blind to tribal and religious diversities both as a political appointee and as a president and made his administration felt by every nook and cranny of the country."

Chira attributed this as one of the reasons he won his re-election bid which was truncated by the General Muhammad Buhari led coup. He also called on Nigerian politicians to "emulate the noble qualities exhibited by the late Shagari especially a mindset that sees all Nigerians as one."

Orient Daily recalls that late Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari GCFR, was a Nigerian politician who served as the first and only President of Nigeria's Second Republic, after the handover of power by General Olusegun Obasanjo's military government.

He served as the president from October 1, 1979 to December 31, 1983. He died yesterday, December 28, 2019, in National Hospital, Abuja after a brief illness.

PoliticsChristmas: What I Learnt From Herod The King - Dr Chira by Spiritscience(op): 7:54am On Dec 25, 2018
*CHRISTMAS LESSON*

When King Herod initiated plans to kill the first born of God who he saw as a threat to his throne, God did not station angels around Baby Jesus to wait for Herod’s army to strike. He gave forewarning and Baby Jesus was relocated to Egypt to prevent Herod’s plan.

My Christmas message is PREVENTION. We can prevent negative outcomes as a people when we take the issue of voting in political leaders and representatives more serious and ensure the best hands are sent forth at every dispensation.

Decisions taken by the political class are the reasons Oyi/Ayamelum is yet to have a tertiary institution, good science laboratories in our secondary schools or theatre arts studio or standard healthcare system, to mention but a few.

Politics is like a warfront or a competition. You do not go to war or a competition with your worst; rather you go with your best.

*Capacity*

Why our politicians have hitherto been falling short of our expectation is because they lack capacity. It is not really lack of money or about their level of education but because they themselves have not discovered who they are as individuals.

I present my ability to handle issues. For instance, when we had natural disaster in Oyi/Ayamelum, we should not have been sitting ducks talking about NEMA when there was lots of money hanging in the air. It is not only government that you advocate to, you also advocate to international communities. There is lots of money hanging there that you can advocate for on behalf of your people.

I as an individual was able to attract de-worming drugs for over 20,000 children in Oyi/Ayamelum from the international communities. This I did as nobody; how much more if I was the member representing Oyi/Ayamelum…

I have compartmentalized Nigeria’s problems in general and Oyi/Ayamelum’s problems in particular and how to efficiently and effectively channel our resources and energy to salvage them.

Appeal Court upholds Chira's PDP candidacy*

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division has upheld the candidacy of Dr Chira Obiora Uzochukwu as Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency Representative for PDP today.

It would be recalled that an appeal was filed against the judgment of the High Court of Abuja on October 31, 2018 on his candidacy.

However, in a unanimous judgment by a 3-man panel of justices led by Justice Stephen J. Adah, the case was struck out, thereby upholding the previous judgement of the High Court declaring that Dr Uzochukwu Obiora Chira is the winner of the House of Representatives primary election of the PDP for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency held on October 3, 2018.

Reacting to the development, Dr Chira said it was a vindication of his position all along that the people of Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency believe he has higher capacity to represent the federal constituency.

He also called on his opponents to take the outcome in good faith and join hands with him to clench the seat for PDP come 2019 general elections.

"I give thanks to God for the court of appeal's pronouncement. I also extend an olive branch to all my opponents in the primaries. We are all brothers in the struggle, please give me a chance to prove myself.

"PDP is united," he said.

Bullet proof herbalist captures two armed robbers in Igboukwu

By O’star Eze

Uchechukwu Ezekoye and Chukwudi Emmanuel Okeke, both allegedly from Ekwulobia, were allegedly caught recently by a native herbalist who claimed that he was shot at by the robbery suspects but the bullet did not penetrate his body.

Onyebuchi Okeke is from Ezihu, Etiti N’abo, Igboukwu, popular known as ijenwata; a 41 year old herbalist who said he inherited it from his father; Okeke Nwuba Ezesehaa Ozo, a soothsayer and priest in Igboukwu,

Narrating his experience that led to the capture of the duo, Ijenwata said that he had gone to withdraw some money which some persons had paid into his account which he was asked to withdraw and give to their people. On his way back from Union Bank just as he parked in front of his home, he was intercepted by two young men in a bike. The boys demanded for the money from him. He denied he had any money with him insisted they had not given him any money to keep for them.

“I started struggling with them. The fair one pointed a gun at me and the one riding the bike jumped from the bike into my car to take the money. I pulled him from the car and struck him on the ground. I fell on top of him and struck him with several blows. The man with the gun pointed the gun at me and shot me on the foot.

“When he shot me, I leaped from the dark one I was holding down and stamped my foot on the ground. It turned out that the God of heaven and Mother Earth did not allow the bullet to penetrate my foot.

“I rushed the one with the gun and I rushed that one with the gun but he fled. I turned at the dark one who had rushed to his bike to speed off but I pulled him down and struck him again but he took flight.

The herbalist said that by then some young men in his place waiting to be attended to, who heard the gunshot had rushed out to the scene with clubs and machetes and when they saw the duo in flight and pursued after them.

“They got caught and were handed over to the Divisional Police Station, Ekwulobia, alongside their gun,” he said.

He also disclosed that the duo alongside the gun had been handed over to Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Awkuzu, for further interrogation.

He alleged that the duo were said to be notorious armed robbers in Aguata LGA and the environs and are building hostels and hotels from their robbery proceeds.

Corroborating the story, one of Ijenwata’s attendants, Elochukwu Uzoezie said that he was coming back from his house after taking his bath when he saw his master returning home in his car.

“I saw two men on a bike intercept his car as he parked. At first I thought they were prospective clients of Ijenwata. However, by the time I got close; I hear gunshots so I leaped into a bush and hid. It was from there that I saw the duo fleeing with some persons on hot pursuit,” he said.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed said that two robbery suspects were caught in Aguata and handed over to Awkuzu SARS.

“The two robbery suspects are still under custody and investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding their arrest,” he said.

He however dissociated himself from the claims of the herbalist saying that the police are yet to confirm his claim of resisting bullet.

Nairaland GeneralWhy Yahoo Yahoo Is Popular Among Nigerian Youths - Oguegbe by Spiritscience(op): 4:07pm On Nov 15, 2018
Chinemerem Oguegbe is a business development specialist and the Managing Director of GeoServe Integrated Services Limited. In this exclusive interview with O’star Eze, he x-rays his model for tackling unemployment and low level of productivity among Nigerian young people, how he thinks the Nigerian economy can be revamped and the reason internet fraud is gaining popularity among Nigerian youths

Q – WHY DO YOU THINK THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN YOUTH IS EAGER TO LEARN HOW TO DEFRAUD OTHERS (YAHOO YAHOO) AND CAN STAY UP LONG NIGHTS SPINNING THE WEB BUT IS NOT READY TO GIVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF DEVOTION TO GROWING A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS

A – The alarming increase in the number of youths engaging in the yahoo business is a clear confirmation of the commitment of young Nigerians to make it at all cost, with every possible means available and unfortunately lacking a ready platform to showcase their creativity and ingenuity.

We went to school with a mindset that once you graduate from school, you get a good job and live your dream life. On graduation, you realize there is no job. Nobody teaches you the skill to survive without a paid job. Young graduates get frustrated not knowing the next step to take in life, them from nowhere a friend pops up with a new car and living a luxurious lifestyle. He teaches you a way to defraud people and make money out of it, he commits himself to teaching you the needed skills, buys you a laptop and mentors you in the yahoo business. He encourages you to work hard and within a short period money starts coming in and you realize that’s the only avenue available to you to actualize your dreams.

What am I trying to say, most of the available platform for lot of young people to acquire skills to get rich unfortunately provided by hoodlums and tricksters. And a lot of young people have the desire to get rich at all cost. Matching that desire with the only available platform to actualize that desire gave birth to what we today refer to us Yahoo Yahoo.

I believe that when government provides platforms to educate young people on how to create wealth and build businesses, a lot of youths will be eager and willing to put in time and effort to learn. In other words, government has a lot to do in re-engineering the psyche of the younger generation

Q – YOU HAVE SAID THAT THE PRAYER ‘LET LABOUR MARKET FAVOUR YOU’ WHICH IS USUALLY SAID AMONGST NIGERIANS IS A LIE. WHY?

A – It is a lie because there is no job out there. The few jobs available are reserved for the privileged children of the Rich, their relations and cronies. From statistics, Nigerian Universities graduate around 500,000 youths annually. Of this number only about 40% get gainful employment leaving about 60% wallowing in the streets of Nigeria in search of their daily bread. So I find it funny when I hear such prayers and blessings on a system designed for the survival of the few that is privileged and connected.
READ ALSO IDPs jobless youths, take over abandoned Utako hospital complex

Q – YOU HAD ONCE SAID ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLE THAT THERE IS ENORMOUS POWER IN KEEPING PROMISES AND HONORING COMMITMENTS. CAN YOU THROW MORE LIGHT ON THIS

A – Keeping promises and honoring commitments is the basic fundamental in building a strong character. And for anybody that wants to build a sustainable business that is the foundation for Business Trust. For someone to do Business with you there must be an established form of Trust and with trust comes a proven track of keeping promises and honoring commitments. Every young man or woman seeking to be successful in Life should make it a point of duty to keep promises and honor commitments. You cannot promise to deliver a product or service at an agreed time and fail and still expect to be trusted to keep future promises. Simply put, keeping promises and honoring commitments is the foundation for every successful Entrepreneur

Q – YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES ARE AWASH WITH AND SEEM DEDICATED TO TIPS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP. WHY ARE YOU THIS PASSIONATE ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP?

A – I am so passionate about Entrepreneurship because during my journey to self discovery, I realized that it is only as an Entrepreneur that I can live my dreams, be financially free and contribute my quota to National Development. I also realized that the only solution to the high rate of unemployment is to awaken the Entrepreneurial spirit of young people. It is only through building of Entrepreneurs that our Nations dwindling economy will be transformed. Young people should be equipped with the skills and knowledge on how to own and build businesses. They should be mentored on becoming Job creators and not job seekers.

Am this passionate because I realized that true success and financial freedom lies in the hands of Entrepreneurs and until we awaken this consciousness in the minds of young people we can never tap into the huge potentials of our nation, Nigeria.

Q –WHAT PLANS DO GEOSERVE INTEGRATED SERVICES LTD HAVE FOR THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN YOUTH.

A- We are creating a platform for young people to become Entrepreneurs and Business Owners. We want to awaken the Giant Within every Nigerian Youth. At Geoserve we are inventing a paradigm shift in the mindset of young people to seize seeking for white collar jobs to becoming Business Owners.

Our platform is designed to train, mentor and assist young people to own their Businesses. Already we are working with over 50 young people to become Business Owners and equip them with skills needed to run a sustainable business.

Also having noticed that capital is a huge problem for most start-ups, we are creating a platform for Nigerians to invest in start-ups through equity ownership in lucrative and sustainable businesses. We are offering a platform where young people with Business ideas can connect with Individuals looking for equity investment opportunities and form strategic business partnerships.

We have a lot to offer in Business Development, Small Business Start-up mentoring and Work Force Management for Companies, Private Organizations and Government Agencies

Q – MANY COMPANIES ARE FOLDING UP EVERY DAY IN NIGERIA AND THE BLAME IS CAST ON GOVERNMENT. WHOSE FAULT IS IT WHEN ONE’S BUSINESSES FAIL? WHAT ARE THE FACTORS THAT MILITATE AGAINST BUSINESSES IN NIGERIA
READ ALSO Gangsterism has never taken any nation beyond grassroots

A – It is mostly the fault of the Business owner when Businesses fail. Studies have shown that 70% of Business Failures occurs within the First 5years of start-up and this is attributed to the fact that a lot of people go into Businesses without having the skill or knowledge on how to run a Business. 80% of people that go into Business go into Business with the wrong reason and intention.

One of the highest misconceptions about Business is the fact that having the Technical Expertise in a particular field will qualify you to effectively run a business in same field. That you are a good hair stylist does not qualify you to own a hair salon business. That you are good in repairing Laptops and Accessories does not in any way qualify you to run a Engineering Repair Business, having incredible make-up skills doesn’t mean you can effectively run a make-up company.

It needs specialized skills to effectively run a Sustainable Business in any field of endeavor. A lot of Nigerians see themselves qualified to run businesses once they have a skill, an office space and cash flow to clear expenditures. When the Technicalities and challenges in running a Business springs up, they suddenly realize that they have no idea on how to tackle them. Business suddenly becomes scary and the thought of running your once lucrative Business turns into a nightmare. Some immediately look for whom to blamed, some blame their employees for not showing commitment to work, some blame the Government and their harsh economic policies while others blame it on unavailability of funds.

But the truth is that the Business Owner has refused to train himself on what it takes to run a sustainable Business and never saw reasons to acquire the skills needed before becoming a Business owner.

Q – HOW DO YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS WILLING TO SEEK YOUR PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE OR ENGAGE IN YOUR MENTORING PROGRAMS GET TO YOU

A – We are in an age where almost everybody is connected via the internet and use of smart phones. Young Nigerians willing to go into Business or seeking mentoring programs on start-ups can go to our website www.geoserve.com.ng and indicate the services they need and our team of young professionals will always be on hand to attend to such requests. So if you are young, willing to live a purpose driven Life and wanting to fulfill your dream of becoming an Entrepreneur, then we are here at Geoserve to help you with the needed skills and give you a platform to share ideas with the next Generation of Business Men and Women in Nigeria.

Police refutes, condemns report on officers’ unpaid allowance
By O’star Eze

The Anambra state police command has discredited as well as condemned a news report attributed to one Pamela Eboh which had it that police personnel threatened to down tools over unpaid allowances in Anambra state.
Reacting to the report, in a press release, the commissioner of police, Garba Baba Umar, described the said report as “false and mischievous” which should be disregarded.
The police force headquarters had explained, in a similar press release signed by Acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, its public relations officer that no police personnel were being owed any promotion allowance by the force. He insisted that allowances were always paid on time and as at when due.

He explained that “once a police personnel is promoted to the next rank, he is expected to update and submit his or her salary variation update form to the Police Account and Budget Office for processing who will in turn forward same to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (IPPIS Section).” This he said is to effect payment of salary.
Umar also implored media practitioners to refrain from misleading the public with falsehood describing men of the command as loyal, disciplined and hardworking, apart from being professional.
“The publications are not only false but also misleading and definitely a figment of the imagination of the mischief makers who are bent on portraying the command and its leadership in bad light probably to achieve their selfish interest.
“For avoidance of doubt, officers and men of the command are not only loyal, disciplined and hardworking but also highly professional who are guided by the ethics of the force and therefore cannot indulge in this unwholesome act,” the release read in part.

PoliticsLawmaker Imitates Peter Obi, Partners Church In Healthcare Delivery by Spiritscience(op): 4:38pm On Oct 13, 2018
By O’star Eze

Honourable Chukwuka Onyema, representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representative has resorted to handing over all health centres renovated and equiped in his constituency to the church, saying that it is the only way to ensure the centres are managed effectively and efficiently.

Speaking recently while handing over one of the renovated health centre as well as a brand new ambulance to Ogbaru Anglican Diocese, at St Luke Anglican Church, Okpoko, Onyema said that it was Mr Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State that developed the model of handing over schools and hospitals to churches as a way of ensuring their judicious use.

“It has been the case that establishments given to the local government system get mismanaged and go moribund. It was the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, that initiated the practice of handing over schools and hospitals to churches and one can attest to the fact that these institutions have experienced a radical improvement since the development.

“I realized that when the past governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, partnered with the church in schools and hospitals, they picked up.

“Normally, health centres are handed over to local governments and most times you find out that when those hospitals are handed over to the local government, the hospital facilities and vehicles end up being run down.

“So, I decided to tow the line of Peter Obi when I attracted rehabilitation and equipping of the moribund primary health centres in my constituency. I went to the church and discussed with them and they agreed they would judiciously manage the health centres and ambulance. So, we are here to hand over the ambulance we bought and the renovated and equipped primary health centre to the church.” Onyema said.

The lawmaker also disclosed that two other primary health centres have been rehabilitated and handed over to another Anglican church inside Onitsha as well as in a Catholic church which have also been given ambulances.

He expressed optimism that the churches will look after the health centres without supervision from the government.

Honourable Onyema disclosed that his intent is to “attract affordable and sustainable medical health care for the people of Okpoko.”

“Okpoko is a rural area that comprises more of middle income and low income earners. We need a health centre where the sick would not be asked to pay any fee before they can be attended to,” he said.

He said the ambulance would be dedicated to attending to emergency cases within the community.

While receiving the key to the ambulance, Rt. Revd Prosper Amah, bishop of Ogbaru Diocese said he will make available a mobile phone number that every person in Okpoko can call whenever they need the services of the ambulance.

He warned the hospital administrator not to use the ambulance for any purpose for which it is not meant.

“It should remain stand by for responding to emergency health cases,” the bishop said.

He also announced that the ambulance will not charge any patient it conveys and blessed the ambulance as well as the health centre complex.

Dr Ejikeme Okonkwo, the Chief Medical Director of the primary health centre told journalists that the primary healthcare centre was in a deplorable state before the “intervention of Honourable Chu Chu Onyema.”

He intimated that the centre would provide 24 hours emergency section; ultra sound scan machine; HIV clinic, maternal child healthcare.

“The people will now be happy as they would be coming to a cleaner, better equipped healthcare centre,” Okonkwo said.

A resident of Umuobom Street, Okpoko, Mrs Maria Ozofor who lamented difficulties encountered by pregnant women at night, asserted that the gesture would reduce their sufferings.

A mother, Mrs Chetachukwu Unamba stated that the the facility had brought quality medical service to their doorstep.

The event featured the dedication of the facility and hand over of the ambulance to the bishop of the diocese.

HealthAisha Edward: Sickle Cell Advocate Decries High Hospital Bill, Illegal Detention by Spiritscience(op): 11:05pm On Oct 11, 2018
…gives hospitals till November 1 to release patients

By O’star Eze

A sickle cell advocate, Mrs Aisha Edward, has decried the ‘cut throat’ hospital bill and illegal detention sickle cell patients in Anambra State receive from hospitals across the state while calling on all hospitals to release all sickle cell patients held against their will or face the wrath of the law.

Speaking recently during a press conference in her office in Anambra State, Edward said that she is bedeviled by series of complaints from members of her association who have been allegedly held for over one year after treatment by certain hospitals in the state because of their inability to clear the high hospital bills they have incurred.

Displaying some hospital bills from various hospital; private and mission, running between N200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira) and 1.2 million naira per patient, Edward insisted there was no reason a sickle cell patient should incur such bill because of a health crisis.

“It is a pity that HIV patients are given free treatment, free drugs and counseling sessions while sickle cell patients like us who are sickly for no fault of our own are made to pay through our noses to get medical attention.

“I am appalled that the hospitals that charge us most are church owned hospitals and I wonder what we have done wrong to attract such cold treatment from the society,” she said.

The advocate, who is also the national coordinator of Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, then warned all hospitals in the state to release all sickle cell patients who are due for discharge on or before November 1, 2018 or face the wrath of the law.
Edward alleged that the association’s investigation has revealed that some hospitals detain sickle cell patients to use them for raising funds from well to do members of the society who visit hospitals during festive periods.

She said the association will engage private investigators to carry out further investigations to get more statistic and detail on the issue from all the hospitals in the state.

Mrs Edward opined that if the sickle cell bill is passed at the Anambra State House of Assembly, it will “go a long way in cushioning the cost and strain of the frequent medical attention Sickle Cell patients need.”
She therefore called on Governor Willie Obiano and members of Anambra State House of Assembly to have pity on sickle cell patients and pass the bill which encapsulates all the promises hitherto made by the governor.

“The governor promised us three sickle cell specialist hospitals in the three senatorial zones, subsidized blood bank and a bus over three years ago. These have been captured by the bill, including checking the use of sickle cell patients as guinea pigs by some medical practitioners as well as other inhuman treatments meted out against sickle cell patients.

“It is more than three years now since the bill has been in the house of assembly and it is yet to be passed. This is why sickle cell patients are still going through a lot of hardship and abuse the most recent of which is this detaining of members against their will and using them for raising funds,” the advocate said.

CrimeGroup Trains Online Pressmen On FG Cyberspace War Defense by Spiritscience(op): 11:26am On Sep 19, 2018
By O’star Eze
A non-governmental organization, Spaces for Change recently trained online activists from the six geopolitical zones on how to evade the restrictions of the federal government on their activities online, Orient Daily reports.
Speaking with Orient Daily after the one day workshop which held in Enugu, the executive director of the group, Barrister Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri said that the workshop was geared towards enlightening online practitioners on certain restriction trends that affect their activities.
Ibezim-Ohaeri said that Spaces for Change, from their documentation of restrictions of the present government on online practitioners, have observed two kinds of restrictions; those based on national security and those based on financial regulations.
In her words, “activists who use the opportunity provided by the cyberspace to vent their opinions and garner support for their cause need to be aware of the rules that have been used to restrict their activities on the cyber space.
“They need to be aware of the triggers and drivers of these restrictions and how to work around them to still achieve their purpose without breaking the law or endangering themselves.”
She explained that the essence of the workshop was to acquaint these activists with those policies, rules and regulations that are being used to restrict their activities, so that they can carry out their activities mindful of these rules in order not to fall victim to them.
She disclosed that beyond the workshop, the group intends to engage in different kinds of actions both online and offline that would continue to increase the awareness.
Legal practitioners and financial experts were among the resource persons who anchored the round table discussion. Some online practitioners and social media activists who had fallen victim to these restrictions or/and are undergoing litigation process as a result were also present to share their experiences with their colleagues.
Opportunity was also provided for the participants to network with one another and get help on how to improve on their influence online.
Orient Daily reports that Spaces for change is a non-governmental organization aimed at increasing political participation among women, youths and marginalized communities in Nigeria.

PoliticsLiberation Movement Sets Up Anambra State Chapter by Spiritscience(op): 1:44pm On Sep 15, 2018
…emphasizes smart governance

By O’star Eze
One of the newly established political parties in Nigeria, Liberation Movement, recently set up a chapter in Anambra State, while disclosing that the practices and policies of the party would be smart-based, Orient Daily reports.
Speaking during the inaugural meeting held in Awka, the state capital, the chairman of the chapter, Comrade Aniagbaoso Hyacinth (Commodore) explained that the party was set up to practicalise the findings of a research conducted by Kriz David, the national chairman of the party.
In his words, “The national chairman visited more than 20 countries that grew spontaneously from being third world to first world countries, and was able to articulate his findings in a book he titled ‘Smart Government.’
“Mr David was led to set up a political party that would promote equality, prosperity, meritocracy, integrity, and diligence.”
The state chairman stated that the party was registered after jumping several hurdles and is now the eleventh party on the list of newly registered parties in Nigeria.
“The party is now establishing chapters in all the states and local governments.
“If we join hands together and build this party without giving unnecessary emphasis to immediate gratification, we would be part of great thing,” he said.
Comrade Aniagbaoso then disclosed that the registration of members, primary elections and other activities of the party would be online, adding that the members would be guided on how to work smart using modern social media handles and other online activities.
This, he said would minimize sharp practices most political parties are wrought with.
He said that the National executive body has stipulated the cost of securing nomination forms “which are minimal” and enjoined those interested in vying for any political position to secure the form with the confidence that the party is valid.
He then disclosed that the slogan of the party is “equality and prosperity,” while the logo is a picture of balloons on flight.
Over 200 persons drawn from various local governments, fields of endeavour and age groups were present during the inaugural meeting.
Disciplinary committee members, screening committee members for the primaries, state executives and local government officials were set up and mobilized to go out and build membership in their constituencies.
