In a recent interview with The News Guru, the veteran actor was asked if he watches Nigerian movies. he had this to say:"I don’t want to be biased when I answer this question. The truth is that i really do not watch the new generation as you put it. But I have worked with some of the people you call new generation. I am involved in training the young generation. I have trained a lot of them and in my working with them; I see some sense of creativity. A lot of things are still lacking. The new generation actors from the little I know are not as well trained as the old generation. The truth is that if I am to differentiate between the old and the new generations, it is a difficult thing for me. Because art and creativity are timeless. They do not have value for time and the quality of their acting is not really there yet. I know a lot of them are attending some of these film schools both locally and internationally. I know some of them that are very serious minded and take this business very seriously. For me, the productions of yesteryear are better in terms of acting, but are not as good technically as the productions of today."

He further states his reasons:"Is that a surprise? I will quote the Late Sam Loco when he was in the Department of Theatre Arts of the University of Ibadan, he was asked:” What have you learnt here so far”? and he said “Nothing” .He said that the little he knew was being taken away from him. Bob Marley also said: “If I had gone to school I would have been a damn fool.” Sometimes the educational curriculum may not be beneficial for the intended course. You want to achieve something, but the curriculum you are given is limiting. In that case, they are going to be cancelling what you knew before and feed you with what you don’t need. I do not watch these movies basically because of time. I am never satisfied with their acting. Their acting is still very poor. I am not talking about anybody else’s opinion, this is my opinion. Instead of me to get angry, I just stay away from it in order for me to have fewer things to criticize. Like I said, I am involved in training and when my opinion is sought I willingly give. When I am on location with some of these new actors, I willingly give."
