uzolexis: I get your point and I agree that these countries(especially he ones in Africa are doing better than Nigeria) but don't you think it will be easier to gather the rent bit by bit(monthly) than in bulk (annually) Of course, monthly payment is better than the annual rent. It is supposed to be easier too if not for the salary style in the country. |

Kachisbarbie: He made sense on the surface but our salary structure/in flow wouldn't survive such implementation. For now they should abolish that 2yrs upfront payment, agency fee and all those useless fees that rip off tenants. Good point. |
Politics › Re: "House Rent Should Be Paid Monthly In Nigeria" - FCT Minister by Springz(f): 3:03pm On Apr 08, 2016 |
hisoko: how can we pay rent monthly when the federal government cant even pay our salaries montly .....
Landlord : Wake up, It's the first of the month, where's the rent for this month as well as the last 3 months
Tenant : Chei oOoo Oga no vex, I de wait alert, they never pay my salary this month self
Landlord : nah the same thing de happen to me, dem no pay since last year, na carry over, but I need you to drop some deposite to put fuel for my moto,
Tenant : Oga, I too no get fuel for my moto, i de filling station now de quene since the day before yesterday
Landlord : Yes i know, I de for your back sef, shey you get money for fuel, you for either choose to fuel your car so you gots place to sleep, or you go shift your car from here, gimme your money Exactly the point I'm trying to make, when you're not being paid monthly, how the hell are you supposed to be paying house rent monthly. |
Politics › Re: "House Rent Should Be Paid Monthly In Nigeria" - FCT Minister by Springz(f): 3:01pm On Apr 08, 2016 |
uzolexis: Didn't you see where I wrote not Western countries but African countries. Kenya and Zambia for example are African countries I have and still living in and rent is paid monthly. Again don't those countries pay their workers promptly? This is Nigeria and it's common knowledge that civil servants here don't always get paid monthly, many are owed for months. I get the idea is since one gets paid monthly, rent should be monthly. But they don't. When the government starts taking the citizens seriously like the countries you listed and other developed countries, then a law like that can work. |
Politics › Re: "House Rent Should Be Paid Monthly In Nigeria" - FCT Minister by Springz(f): 11:10am On Apr 08, 2016 |
uzolexis: You really need to travel and from the comments above many Nigerians need to leave the shores of this country to see how things are done, not even to Europe or other western countries but even African countries and we'll know for sure that we are learners in Nigeria (Ghana pays rent yearly too so dont go to ghana) but in most other African countries, rent is paid monthly not yearly and that is how it should be. How do landlords expect people to cough 2 years rent upfront, is that not wickedness Yes in developed countries, they pay monthly, but you forgot to add that in those developed countries salaries are paid promptly. The reverse is the case here. For it to be implemented here, certain things have to be put in place Otherwise the aim will be defeated. |

Literature › Re: Tell Us About Your Favourite Book by Springz(f): 10:13pm On Feb 18, 2016 |
Decker: I love reading crime and mystery books, so my favorite definitely has to be from this genre. I would have chosen any of the Partricia Cornwell series as my favorite, probably "All that remains" or "Postmortem", or even "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. These are excellent books. But I'll go for And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. It's in my opinion the best mystery novel ever written. I was hooked till the very end. I love suspense in books and that book served me an overdose of suspense.
Let me give a brief synopsis of the book. Eight men arrive on an Island, and each of them claimed to have been invited by Mr and Mrs Owen to stay in their house as guests. But when they all reach the house, they are only welcomed by the housekeeper and cook.
Later on the guests would get to understand that U.N Owen, the host who had supposedly invited them, when pronounced as one word, sounds like the word; UNKNOWN, meaning U.N Owen doesn't even exist. But was just an Allusion. Lol. Creepy right? The creepiness doesn't end there. A copy of a nursery rhyme was found framed and hanged on the walls of the rooms of each guest and 10 figurines sat on the dining table.
Then suddenly, the guests and staff start dying one by one, and in mysterious fashion. And when someone dies, one of the figurines get broken. And the poem hanged on the walls of the rooms, was a reflection, as well as a prediction of the deaths that occurred.
This is the creepy poem: "Ten little soldier boys went out to dine; One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little soldier boys stayed up late; One overslept himself and then there was eight.
Eight little soldier boys travelling in Devon; One said he’d stay there and then there were seven.
Seven little soldier boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.
Six little soldier boys playing with a hive; A bumblebee stung one and then there were five.
Five little soldier boys going in for law; One got in Chancery and then there were four.
Four little soldier boys walking along the sea; A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.
Three little soldier boys going to the zoo; a big bear hugged one and then there were two.
Two little soldier boys sitting in the sun; One got frizzled up and then there was one.
One little soldier boy left all alone; He went and hanged himself and then there were none"
But the big question was; Who was behind the killings? because everything was systematically orchestrated and brilliantly executed, and I think this is where one just has to stop and admire the imaginative brilliance of Agatha Christie. Well, you just have to read the book to find out who this twisted mystery person was. I feel you on Cornwell, 'All that Remains' is her best in my opinion. On topic, mine is Sidney Sheldon's 'If Tomorrow Comes'. |

lielbree: YES!!! was he the only governor to travel to the UK? Why was he singled out? The UK have always taken sides with the north and west against we in the south south. That's the truth! All the idle billionaires in the north that invest their money in the UK why have they not been arrested and prosecuted? That's the problem with we Africans we exhult the white man and see him as perfect. Eg : look at the number of civilians killed by American presidents in the name of looking for sadam hussan weapons of mass destruction which turned out to be a hoax! There were no weapons yet thousands killed! Has anyone charged bush to the Hague? But if it were an African leader they would ask for his head including us Africans! Stop seeing the white man and there decisions as perfect! Choi. |
