daveP: You're buttressing my point for me. Even as 2nd choice target, this same Sesko is terrible at the "Arteta style for cf" than Gyokores. His shot sef is weak and hold up is worse. Meaning if we got him, the noise would have been "why didn't we get Gyokores"
At the end of the day, everything is looking like the blame lies at the feet of Arteta. Berta has done justice getting the best 9 of last season into this formidable team. If it is not working, then style of play is an issue. Cr7 once had this problem at man u till coach ordered they feed him balls. The coach needs to work on that.
IMO, if this guy clicks, it will reduce the overall stress across the teammates. Till then. Gyokores is hibernation mode. He's a beast normal. We already have 3 Arteta style cf so getting him shows a priority for a different style not as additional to the style on ground. What he's doing currently is cool. But those that know what he was last season will agree this guy is on 30% mode of his previous self.
Maybe it is deliberate. Maybe Arteta wants to make him unleashed towards April May.
Till then sha First of all the bolded can not be determined from mere speculative imagination. So let's leave that one. That was how you people dealt with Havertz . Thank God we signed Gyokeres not Sesko, because the narrative would have been 'assuming we signed Gyokeres'. So let that one rest. Secondly, whatever tactics you're going to blame Arteta for has made him top of the league and CL tables at the same time. We are also in the 1/4 finals of the Carabao cup. I am sure you're not willing to sacrifice that for the meer satisfaction of seeing Gyokeres scoring odds goals? So forget whatever fantasies you have about Gyokeres and see the progress the team is making |

daveP: Isak from Newcastle to Liverpool, same and exact pattern of play and he's struggling. Not to talk of last season's most lethal 9 coming in and we want to suddenly act like we dunno how he plays? Instead of agreeing with you, I'll simply say,
If we know we weren't going to use him on his lethal, impactful level of play, then why buy him?
They for just buy Victor Osimhen since hold up play and opening spaces is the excuse. He does those absolutely well, has 10 lungs with that pressing that Arteta loves and makes CBs restless all game.
This guy can enter the XI of the other top 6 clubs and be on 17goals by now. He's still on 3 with us. I don't even want to talk about the hesitation by teammates to pass to him. Everyone admits and it is already common knowledge that he opens up space for others to thrive. But how is that peak productivity? Or is there a plan to unleash him later or what?
Yes we can't just abruptly stop team style, especially as he didn't join in pre season. But can't there be games where we see that they're targeting this pointman to net? It has festered on too lon and im tilting towards the conclusion that Arteta loves it this way. GJ and Kai will come back and do their thing no doubt. Merino the beloved is also there. Please don't see this as a personal attack. We are just discussing football. Do you recall that Gyokeres wasn't first choice forward signing? In fact Sesko was ahead of him in the choice list. The main reason we finally settled on Gyokeres was his persistent show of interest. This is even what made many Arsenal fans commit to him emotionally. The reason most fans (especially those who can be very critical, like those who criticised the hell out of Havertz) do not want to criticise his records this season is because they committed themselves to him as the one to prove them right about how wrong Arteta was not to have a traditional striker as his CF For me based on our standards for CF, he is doing well. Creating spaces and dragging away defenders for others to find the goal. Besides Arteta built his attack so that there would be several goal outlets not one |

BlueRayDick: For all his upside-down arguments and sometimes provocative position in arguments, we need to give Spy360 his flowers for being right on Arsenal's strikers problem...
I remember correctly how Spy360 kept on hammering on the fact that the type of striker that fits Arteta game play is dem Jesus, Havertz and Nketiah type of striker. He stressed that an out and out striker like Gyokeres may struggle in a team lien arsenal because of how Arteta sets up his team to play.
Gyokeres struggles since he joined and Gabriel Jesus cameo yesterday seem to have validate Spy's arguments.
I didn't watch the match yesterday (for the first time in a long time), but all the match commentary, summary and fans opinions I've read seem to suggest Gabriel Jesus bested Gyokeres and most fans have seen that Gyokeres goal problem is neither caused by Saka and Odegaard deliberately not passing to him nor is it caused by other players trying to outshine him.
I just hope Arteta will find a way to use Gyokeres in matches where we will need a profile of his profile & skillset to press opposition defence and mount pressure on them to overturn possession. I believe those teams that like to knock the ball around at the back will suffer if we start Gyokeres against them. Point blank |

Roland17: The argument has always been about a different mold of striker that offers us a different approach and that is what Gyokores is.
Asking Gyokores to play as a false 9 or inverted striker isn’t his strength. There there numerous instances before Gyokores when we were looking for goals, had possession but all our strikers were hugging the edge of the box with nobody inside the box for crosses or keeping CBs honest. Teams player low blocks and got results against us because of a lack of CF.
Now he is here, we are still expecting him to play the same way that necessitated his purchase in the first place. The bolded is actually correct. We must understand that Gyokeres was brought as a route to adapt to a different pattern of play when the need arises. Unfortunately injuries to the front line derailed that and so his is forced to adapt to the team's usual tactics. And he is doing it very well. So we must not judge him by his standards but by the club's standards. |

iamoyindamola: Roland17 Jesus had more touches in the little minutes played than gyokeres, I think he needs to start making himself available the competition are coming back with kai close It's because of the way Arteta uses his CF. They are not traditional strikers and Gyokeres is forced to adapt. In doing so he will drop down the pecking order which will see Havertz as No1 and then Jesus and even Merino before him. |

Spy360: Gyokeres is not coming to play as an outright CF. He is coming to play a a false 9 or deployed on the LW as a goalscoring/inverted winger same way Arteta used Aubameyang.
The only reason it will not happen will be a change of tactical approach which will mean getting a new CAM and creative LW similar to Doku. When I made this prediction in May, I was opposed by Davep and Roland17 But my thoughts came through. As it stands now, Gyokeres has been playing false 9 and he is not even well suited to it compared to G Jesus who looked better when he came on. |

Amoto94: 8 DIVISION STRIKE TEAM NEUTRALIZES 11 BANDITS, RECOVER WEAPONS CACHE IN SOKOTO
8 Division Nigerian Army /Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma Strike Team deployed for counter banditry and terrorism operation in Sokoto State In a swift and decisive ambush operation and tactical operationsuccessfully neutralized 11 bandits and recovered substantial cache of arms. The bold and tactical operation, conducted near Kurawa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area disrupted a planned attack on Tara Village, a critical area for cross-movement by terroristand bandit elements.
Acting on precise credible intelligence the strike team executed a well-coordinated ambush engaging the bandits in an intense firefight. The operation resulted in the neutralization of 11 bandits, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered 8 AK-47 rifles, 5 extra magazine and 26 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition**
The operation not only prevented a potential terrorist attack but also dealt a significant blow to the bandits and terrorists network operating in the Sabon Birni Corridor which has been a flash point in recent time. The proactive response by the troops highlights their unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens in Sokoto State and its surrounding areas.
The success of this mission reinforces the Division's resolve to combat banditry and terrorism, ensuring peace and security for the people of Sokoto State. This is how it should be. Using intelligence to achieve victory and a state force. However if all the so called weapons cache is just a few rifles, it shouldn't make the news. |

Gabzy1: Bros I hear you, I’m not denying the progress at all. 91 goals in 23/24 is impressive, 88 the season before that is also impressive too.
Nobody is saying we’re still the same team that was getting battered 4-0 by Liverpool or rolled over by City every time. That’s facts, the team has improved compared to Emery/Wenger days.
But let’s not act like the attack is suddenly peak City or Klopp Liverpool either, that’s all I’m saying.
Yes, 23/24 season we scored 91 but we only created the 5th-most big chances from open play behind Mancity, Liverpool, Chelsea and Aston Villa. We converted our chances more and absolutely destroyed teams from set pieces. We scored 22 non-penalty set-piece goals, that's ridiculous numbers.
Last season we suffered a drop in our goal scoring form with 69 goals. We were 7th for big chances created. That’s exactly why everyone was screaming for a proper No.9 and we went and got Gyokeres.
This new 25/26 season, we are already sitting 9th in big chances created after 15 games with only 30 big chances created despite banging in 28 goals so far. We’re still scoring because, Saka, Eze, Gyokeres, Trossard have been very clinical in front of goal, not because we’re constantly ripping teams apart.
Martinelli has been quiet for about 18 months or there about now if we’re honest.
Trossard is a good finisher, but he’s not that guy who’s going to consistently unlock a low block on his own.
Odegaard is still great at dropping deep, recycling possession and playing the safe sideways pass, but he’s lost a lot of that final-third magic since his injuries last year. Key passes are way down, big chances created are basically zero.
Eze looks class on the ball no doubt, but too often goes missing in big moments, almost like he’s hiding from the responsibility of grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck.
How many times this season have we seen gyokeres making a run in behind and literally no one even looks for the pass? Ball goes sideways, we keep on passing the ball around on the edge of the box, then a cut-back that gets blocked.
I’m telling you, drop prime Haaland in this team tomorrow and he’d still spend half his time waving his arms in the air because the service from wide areas and midfield just isn’t consistent enough. We hardly play proper balls in behind or killer through balls anymore.
I appreciate what Trossard, Martinelli, Odegaard bring to the team. They lead the press well, run their socks off, and track back brilliantly.
But we need another elite creative midfielder or a proper progressive left-sided attacker who can properly feed the striker and break down stubborn defences on a weekly basis.
No squad is perfect, there’s always one or two areas you can upgrade, and for me the No.10 or left wing is still the obvious one.
That's why I am hoping Saliba and big Gabi comes back on time so that we can continue to dominate in the set piece area to complement our goals scored from open play.
Hopefully we win the league. I took my time to study your concern. Firstly you acknowledged that our conversion rate is very high given that we don't create much chances yet we score many goals compared to other top teams. You also mentioned that this is despite getting a striker (what I would call a traditional centre forward) the attack still looks dull. You're right and there are reasons. And it all stems from how the manager plays. 1. Arteta is defensive minded. He is the kind of coach that gives much attention to defending. He is a student of attack win games and defense win titles. You only need to look at the ratio of the number of defenders he has signed to attackers. 2. Arsenal transitions are based on overloads. When we attack it is an overload 3-2-5, when we defend it is overload 5-4-1. So at every phase of play, all we try to do is overload every corner of the pitch. This is unlike teams like Chelsea that uses quick passes or Aston Villa like we saw lately that uses long balls and fast forwards. 3. The CF is not really the main striker. The strikers are the inverted wingers. We create from one wing and finish from the other. When we overload the opponent's box, we do so with five to seven players. It begins with the CF in a well timed manner dropping deep into the half third either pulling away the CBs or leaving them clueless. This creates space either on the left or right depending on where the ball is. So the CF doesn't get to the end of the chances most times (unless it's a loser ball, or he finds himself in the right place). That is also why our wingers score more goals. It also explains why we don't depend on any particular player for goals. That CF role is why it looks like Merino is more effective than Gyokeres. 4. Because of our tactics in (2) and (3) above we hardly play counter attacks which are basically spontaneous. Rather we are well organised, planned, and programmed almost in robotic fashion. That is why as an Arsenal fan you can easily predict what Saka will do when he is on the ball. Or whether White will overlap or not. All our goals also seem similar in patterns. So the reason is that our players play in a programmed manner, sort of robotic, such that goals must come in a particular way. That why we create few but are still efficient. I hope the manager will either allow our players to be creative sometimes or create more ways to attacking transitions. |

Tinubu did well in 1. Minimum Wage 2. Financial Autonomy to LG 3. Foreign Exchange 4. Students' Loan.
He did bad in allowing free importation of commodities like maize and how he is handling security issues. 1. Minimum wage has to be N160,000 for him to match the previous figures with dollar equal to N400. To do well, it has to be more than that amount. 2. This is a farce. Until LG starts getting their funds directly and not through State treasury then can we say there's financial autonomy. Otherwise, they are deceiving you. 3. What nonsense? 4. How's student loan and achievement? If you pay now and if you pay later what's the difference? In fact the reason you can't pay now was caused by the government itself. What would count as achievement would be free or subsidised tertiary education and not this trap |
