Then again, the managers of the big clubs crying about 5 subs are just capping. That Norwegian fraud didn’t even use any substitute in the Europa final in normal time. So why does he need 5?

Many of the managers in the top 6 didn’t make use of the maximum allowed 3 substitutes in some of the biggest games last season. One can hardly argue for 5 subs when they struggle to even make use of the 3 available.

I am more interested in the welfare of the players. Again even the advantage of bringing in a 55m sub can still be utilised in the next game which will even be more affective. It makes no difference, since like you pointed out, they hardly use it.

I think it's needed now due to the stress footballers go through these days. There are too many games and too many competitions. The advantage small teams gain from playing fewer matches the big teams will make up using squad depth.
