Pardon me, LW to say. We have been using Aubameyang on the side and he isn't good enough. So we need someone strong enough with the pace and skill and can equally score goals. I hope the Coutinho on sale is the one we know because this way you dey sound nor follow o.

That has always been the problem with Arsenal post Invincibles Era ; Penny wise, pound foolish.

When we ought to be strengthening our first team, buying players that will come and hit the ground running ; we will be buying players lesser than or equal to the ones we have. We buy cheap players both in quality in price and price which costs us greatly in the great scheme of things. I can't forget nor forgive arsenal bringing in players like Kim Kallstrom angry

That is why u see teams like Leicester having 3 senior strikers in Daka, Iheancho and Vardy being taken more serious than Arsenal these days.... We have just two senior strikers that will rather focus on taking pictures in training and joking around. See how Balogun struggled against average Brentford defenders ; imagine how worse it will get if we play more experienced teams in the league with Balogun upfront.

This club needs to buy quality players and stop going for cheap options that will cost us later.
There is this post going around where we see Chelsea selling several deadwoods to fund the Lukaku deal. They ended up with a positive net despite paying 97m for the striker. I love the way they do business.

lol....Smith-Rowe outshine Maddison? How?

That guy is a good set piece taker, good dribbler and can shoot really well; especially those R2-whining-shots.

If Smith-Rowe learning is the focus of getting AM/ 10, then Maddison should be the one to be signed. The only metric Bernardo Silva is at par with Maddison is dribbling.
Arsenal went for the cheaper and less risky option. But whatever be the case, getting an AM is at all is a right step.

I think Man City get the value for their money. But Guadiola is a fraud. His bench alone should be enough to compete for the league. Tomorrow he buys Kane and wins another title.

If we add Aubameyang and Lacazette, ours will go higher. Poor spending.

The most efficiently run club financially is Tottenham, but no trophies to prove it.

I love what Chelsea is doing.

Rather I wanna see us sign Odegaard and Lautaro Martinez + a good backup keeper.... That is possible.

If Arteta doesn't get his team and tactics right after few more matches, we let him go and then get an experienced manager.
Honestly, Arsenal transfer rumours are just overfull.

As for your mentions, Odegaard and the backup keeper are very possible. I am not sure of Martinez coming.

If this Coutinho deal happens, it will solve a three fold problem for us.

1. A quality player who can man the RW.
2. An AM who can create and be a model for ESR.
3. A midfielder who can score.

A straight swap will be a major coup.

While I agree Stan is really badluck for arsenal and our decline started during his takeover. But if we look critically, our decline didn't start in 2011(during his takeover) but between 2007-2009(I'll say 2008 tho). And the main reason for arsenal decline to me was David Dein. Yes David Dein, he was so instrumental to arsenal and Wenger's success. From signing players necessary for the team, to tying players down before their contract expires, to selling players at very good price. That's Dein for you. There are good deals Wenger would have scuttled, if not for Dein and there are deals Wenger would have kept(instead of sell) or sold for cheap if not for Dein again. No wonder our squad of golden era years stayed long together and our squad post-dein never last too long together and even if they did, they're either sold for cheap or free. No wonder after Dein departure, we're no longer that club that signs unknown talented players for a cheap. I think the only two we bought post-dein are nasri and Eduardo (if I'm correct) compared to the many dross we bought in yaya sanogo, Silvester and so on. If Dein was in arsenal, I'm sure at least Suarez would have donned arsenal Jersey instead of the embarrassment we did to ourselves.

Dein was really a big miss and Even Arsene Wenger knows that, no Wonder arsenal players down the years were inferior compared to the superior players arsenal keeps getting year on year from when arsene was appointed
Absolutely.

Devin was an expert in developing talent. He was even instrumental to the development of the PL.

He made Arsenal profitable while sustaining the club culture. Losing David Dein began the fall.

And it's very very valid seeing what Greece did in 2004 and maybe lucky Portugal (2016). Esp Greece of 2004, that's the first time I knew and saw what parking of bus really is. Great keeper, great bus parking, not so sharp attack.
Yet dey lost only one match to Russia while winning Portugal and drawing Spain thereby coming 2nd.
It's noteworthy they didn't draw any match throughout knockout to finals where they still won Portugal again
So you have all these facts and formed something else.

Besides, you guys seems to be so a-washed with your thoughts that you fail to pick the ideas of others which is so annoying especially coming from fans-cum-trolls.

If you ask what does Arsenal need?

Was signing a CB a good deal? Offcourse. We need it. Does that mean we should ignore the attack. Offcourse not. We need an AM.
You know that I have been in the forefront of those demanding an AM. I have even mentioned that getting a CB for 50m makes signing an AM inexcusable.

Saying defense wins you league' doesn't refer to the current Arsenal (it's common sense that we won't win the league this season, so this talk is not for us). Get that out of your head and enjoy the discuss.

I Don tire to explain already; I feel they just want to vent their anger based on our poor results in recent times and that has impacted on their sense of judgement making them fail to put things into perspective.

At the beginning of last season we all felt Mustafi was shiiit, Xhaka can't play DM without unnecessary fouls/ errors, Papasthapopulous was pants and we need AM to fill Ozil's role.

The club got us Thomas Partey which we all coveted at the time to ease the defense job in the heart of midfield. We got Gabriel for as little as 27m to serve as an upgrade to our CB'S we've always complained about.....We tried to get Auoar to fill the AM role but that deal fell through.

The club then tried to play Willock as AM but never worked out and then the club brought in Odegaard in January to at least fill the AM role.

How somebody will know all these and still keep talking about the club neglecting midfield last year to focus on defence alone still beats my imagination.

I just no understand how they do it.

This season almost all Arsenal fans I know have condemned the signing of white being unnecessary and wasteful.
The fact that those fans-cum-trolls are the ones masterminding the gibberish. How unintelligent fellows can turn sense into nonsense baffles me.

My point is for Arsenal to at least get back up, the attack should be priotised,(I'm not playing down defense).

On your last paragraph..
The invicibles had Henri banging goals, assisting goals, creating chances and dropping deep to help midfield and start attack... That's Henri alone o.
Not to talk of Pires, Reyes,Ljumberg,Bergkamp, KANU.

If you set up Toure and Campbell with these present Arsenal forward who only wants to pass the ball sideways, The invincible defense will look so average.

The UCL final loss in 2006 was largely blamed on Henri for wasting chances he scores normally. Had Henri scored just a goal, I'm quite confident Barca won't come back.
May God forgive you for calling Campbell and Toure average.
Did you know that Arsenal didn't not concede a goal through out the knockout stages of that CL run and just two goals in total (first two games)? These were games against Real Madrid, Juventus and Villareal. Even in that finals, we were down to 10men few minutes after kickof, yet Campbell rose to head us into a 1-0 lead which was held by the defense till few minutes to the end of the match?

Check the scorelines in pic below.

Attack win games. Defense win titles.

It is about time we all rest from this argument cos IMO,both sides are wrong.
Neither just good defense or good attack will win you either matches or league.... You need a complete good team to win matches and league. Otherwise you might win small or weaker teams but when you meet a complete balanced team you will always lose.

Let's advocate for a good team all-round and not argue for which is more important.
The argument is simple, so I need someone to argue within the technicalities raised.

We all have short and long term goals. Short term goals eventually leads to achiements of the long term goals. Howbeit the factors that lead to both a quite different.

Good attack - winning games - short term.
Good defense - winning titles - long term.

I know that it's hard for someone without a 3D perspective to grab. But it's so simple.

It's like a company, increasing marginal selling price will lead to short term profits, but for long term profits it is cost reduction.

In war, kill more enemies - win the battle -short term
Reduce casualties - win the war - long term

I don't know how else to explain this, but it's a management principle that has been applied overtime with success.

Mertasacka was basically winning aireal duels and using his long legs to intercept and clearing the balls.

Even when Auba/Laca were banging in goals during the Emery era, I was still complaining about the attack still being dull, our build up and approach to attack wasn't impressive, it was Only Iwobi who looked threatening...

My idea of a good attack is when you have a front 4 who can use the ball, silky movement and turnings, interchange passes& switching positions, drive foward with power and pace with good shooting and curling ability and as well drop deep to middle to start attack.

Then 2 solid CM&DM who can help push ball forward, cover grounds, shield defense and guard the ball well.

Also Athletic RB&LB who can run down the flanks to support attack and run to cover the defense.

With the above, even if you have 2 Mustafis at CB, they will still look okay, and your team will compete for top4, be a joy to watch and maintain the big name standard.
This is irritating.

Bàrca defenders are not typical traditional defenders like Bonnuci and Chielini, barca'm defenders are just ball playing defenders who make use of their ability to hold/shield the ball.

Barca will definately make top4/ even with Messi', this is because the likes of ANSI Fati, Griezman, Dembele, Memphis can dominated and pierce any defense.

Its not about winning league for now, rather make the team offensive and attacking in the real sense
If it is not about winning the league, then this argument is dead on arrival.

This Barcelona v Sociedad game is a testament to why fast sharp attack can take you up and far..

The barca defense to me has been average, but the attack of braithwhite, Griezman and Memphis have been explosive.

Arsenal need to get in at least 3 players who are fit, strong, powerful, energetic and very good at progressing and Using the ball in the attacking front.
Barcelona has a fairly good defense. With Pique, Dest and Alba. Besides can they win the league despite continuing to concede 2goals per game while hoping the attack will bail them out? Not realistic.

Stop confusing yourself, both attack and defense are needed. Attack will ensure you win games like this, but it's the defense that will ensure you will the title at the long run.
