I hope I'm not the only one that noticed the trashy football Tierney has been serving us in the last few weeks. I can't specifically point out what exactly the problem is; but there's definitely something not right with his game in the past few weeks.

In fact, the Gabriel some people have been stylishly trying to scapegoat, he’s been saddled with responsibility of constantly dealing with Tierney’s shiits thereby overworking himself and always being put in positions to commit needless foul if everyone was up to their job. I saw this clearly in that Southampton game; Tierney’s defensive game was just off
Really? I doubt this but I will not comment till I observe more.

The only problem with AMN is lack of concentration. However, i will pick AMN over Bellerin.
I too prefer AMN but I will rather have him in midfield. His ball holding is good, he also dribbles. He can be our Partey 2.0

For anyone interest, Arsenal U23 2-1 Leicester City and Balogun scored the winning goal. This kid is ready for the EPL.
Arteta needs to start these young guns good minutes i. the first team and quickly.. Martinelli/ Balogun/ Nelson/ Saka/ Tierney/ Saliba should be getting good minutes with the first team in the EPL.
Sorry I have never rated Willock and Nketiah that highly.. They have had enough playing opportunities but have failed to progress.
Nketiah is a goal poacher kind of striker. He presses well too. I believe he is destined for greatness if given more responsibility. Already he has broken the record for goals in England U21.

I saw Martinelli train, this boy would easily fling away most of our present attackers.

I'm not sure that teireny can be effective as an lcb compared to lwb, so for me i will bring in mari
for soares, AMN will shift to rwb while tierney will move up to lwb allowing mari to occupy the lcb position

and also I will remove willian from the substitute list and bring in martinelli or balogun
Your idea is equally good. Would you take Bellerin instead in the RWB position?

Going into the weekend round of fixtures, we have Everton calling...

Our last match showed some improvements in terms of determination and work rate. Playing a rejuvenated Southampton side just 5pts below top place, was not going to be easy. But if Arteta had followed my advice to play Nelson and also put AMN in midfield he would won and not have suffered the draw.

Here is my advice for Everton away.

Auba........ Lacazette ...........Saka

AMN.... Ceballos.... Elneny... Soares

.... Tierney..... Luiz.... Holding.........

.................... Leno........................

Subs: Nketiah, Nelson, Pepe, Willian, Willock, Chambers, Kolasinac

Attack: Everton will have their tails up and smell blood so a counter attacking formation is what will suit us as we have no creative midfielder. Lacazette is ideal for ball holding while Aubameyang and Saka adds pace. Pepe would be a good option as super sub.

2. AMN will dangle between midfield and LWB positions as we attack or defend respectively. Soares should supply crosses.

3. Tierney will move into more advanced positions on the left as we attack. He should also provide crosses.

This is a formation Arteta is well used to and has helped him in the past. With most of his best players now out, his best bet now is to defend and counter. With good discipline and accurate finishing we will secure all 3points.

Let's assume that we were financially constrained and only could sign one player. Based on our make up as at end of last season, I would easily go for the more defensive option.

We got Partey instead of Aouar, for me that was better than the other way around. Had Partey been fit, Gabriel and other defenders would not be under so much pressure as to commit silly fouls that cost us games in recent times.

Like I said, that does not in any way reduce our need for an AM. We need that for the team to be balanced, but the situation would have been far worse than this if we didn't strengthen defense at all.

Partey and Gabriel were the first two priorities, the third was getting an AM. That added to the fact that we had the option of recalling Ozil if the need got so dire. An option that the club in their wisdom have refuse to activate.

Well they are attackers in one sense but that's not what I meant either. Actually we have issues both in attacking and defending midfield.

Come off it, With a strong attack and average defence which was what we had , we won’t go over 5 games without winning, we won’t go the whole November with only penalty to show for it.

No team has won anything with a below average attack, below average midfield and strong defence.
Our present situation has nothing to do with the attack/defense arguments. The problem we have is a midfield problem. That is, both defensive and attacking. Hence your opposition on 'defense wins you league' doesn't hold. Had we signed an AM and had Partey been fit, you would have seen the beauty of a strong defensive show even if the attack is not firing as they should.

You still don’t get it, that’s cos most of y’all read to reply and not to understand. Same way some believe I’m a Xhaka fan.
With the limited resources at our disposal in the TW our order of signing should have been midfield fully sorted before defence, particularly when it was evident Ozil wouldn’t feature.

Gabriel is not a bad signing, but he’s not a priority as it can be seen already and signing him has been proven to be counterproductive.

How has he being player of the month moved Arsenal away from bottom half? It’s talks like this that that show misplaced priority.
You have not seen what a bad defense can do to you irrespective of your attack. You will score 3goals and still lose...

Take Saka out of the attack and you'll see it us Zero even if you add 3 Partey's in midfield.

You see that Dnepo and Redmond troubling that defence, it is a matter of time the defence crash or we concede

Now, do we have any one disturbing them upfront NO
Permit me to rephrase my comment.

Our problem in attack is not the attackers but the midfielders. We have absolutely no midfield as there is no attack creation from there. So don't blame the defensive issues on the attackers. Saka has been outstanding, b7t when you see Aubameyang goal, you know he is not a small finisher, he only needs to do less ball work and focus on scoring. But that can only happen when someone else in midfield is doing that ball work. Our problem this season has been in midfield. Our failure to sign an AM has been our undoing.

Please refer to Roland17 post above for more clarification.

Why is Nketiah the one to drop to the middle, why not Lacazette? Or even Willock?

The only good thing is that the players are feeling the heat but they need to calm down and use their heads well. They are making too many mistakes.

When? I read an article some weeks back that he will be available for 25M in January. Chai! Arteta will likely go for Aouar then but it will be a bit difficult because we will be competing with PSG this time around for his signature.
His club Salzburg and Leipzig have the same owners, so its an in-house arrangement since RB Leizig is playing the knockout in CL.

I will swap Nelson and Saka. The FBs will overlap delivering crosses while the wingers cut in. Also, i will drop Auba for BALOGUN for now (it sounds somehow? grin ) due to physical presence.
I will love the swapping, in fact I will encourage both to interchange regularly. As for Auba, I don't think his lack of goals is his fault really. Lack of chance creation can lead to goal drought and loss of confidence. I would have played Auba in our last Europa game just to allow him score and rebuild his confidence. Auba for me is still a good striker. As for Balogun, he would definitely get an appearance for me.

This January window, i expect Ozil, Papa, Xhaka, Laca to move. If Saliba will be added to that squad, then Mustafi can leave too.
By summer, Auba and Willian should find another club.
I know it might sound somehow but rebuilding with 30+ year old players does not make any sense to me. Though, if no striker is coming and Auba later find form, he can stay one more year. And if Bellerin is more concerned with flaunting his thigh (tatoo) than playing good football, he should move or retire and join one of those modelling companies.

Guen and Lucas should be recalled. Dani should move with Sczoboczlai (Arteta want Aouar) coming in.
Szoboszlai has gone to RB Leipzig.

Here's what Arteta needs to do to save his job...

............... Aubameyang.............
Saka........ Lacazette......... Nelson
........ AMN.................. Elneny..........
Tierney.. Gabriel... Holding.. Cedric
...................... Leno.........................,

Probable subs:
Luiz, Ceballos, Pepe, Willian, Willock, Nketiah, ESR, Balogun,

1. Auba has the experience and only needs some confidence to get back to scoring,

2. Lacazette has been doing fairly well in the no10 role, may be with more games he will improve till we get a proper AM. I will take him ahead of Willock and ESR. Saka has been our best attacking outlet, no questions, Nelson for me needs to be given that confidence boost by letting him know we trust him. Start him and give a signal to the likes of Pepe and Willian.

3. AMN is a consistent performer, well suited to midfield as well as LWB if there is need to cover the area. Elneny is just above Ceballos in my selection, due to the factory t that he started the last match. I'll easily change him after 5mins if I can't get a performance.

4. No issue with defense except that Luiz isn't starting as I will want to give the younger guy more preference.

5. No qualms with Leno,

The bolded I've noticed from Wenger(last years) to Emery and Arterta.. I think this is a function of the players and not coach, I don't want to believe any coach will set up to play that drab football.
For me, I feel this can only be solved by bringing in Sanchez and Kante like players who can run, cover grounds and willing to receive the ball ..or how do you think this can be solved?
Which other way? You have just nailed it. The team lacks leaders and that's like someone will be doing escort services with no one shouting at him.

When I was coaching youths, I always encourage my boys to be vocal, that's the only way to instill leadership qualities in them.

Yes I can confirm that. Their scouting is just superb. They even got Semedo on loan when no one was looking. I think their performance boils down to the coach. Players like AMN and Torriera who have that work rate will thrive under such managers.

Yeah, you have a point.

I don't think any top club in EPL would have allowed Arteta this leeway he had till now.

Another reason I feel fans would have either made him step up(that's dropping underperforming players) or see the sack is that, the boos by the fans would have reset his brain. If it continues, fans might start to leave before end of match, and if such bad run continues, then fans might refuse to turn up to stadium. This is where I feel the board will be pressured to step in cos they live for profit, thus if Arteta doesn't improve, he'll get the sack.

I just think Arteta prolonged stay is due to absence of fans, else he'll be in hotter seat than he is presently
Apart from that, fans would tell him who to bench and who they want to start...

I question Arsenal's mentality, we are too patient and embraced mediocrity so much.

We tend to love coach and certain players too much and we suffer for it a lot.

If I were to assume Arsenal's coaching job today, I'm benching Auba for 2 straight games and bringing him on at 70th minute in the 3rd. But guess what Fans will call for my head and sack if i do such.

This has been my point of what I'm hoping he does but he's not doing it. That's why I told kodded that if he can't bench "big" and underperforming players, then he has no business being in a top club.

Southampton won't be easy but it's a good game to redeem himself before we face the likes of Chelsea and co. I'll like to see more of the Europa guys especially Nelson and Balogun.
