Martinelli in 45mins showed us what we lacked all season.
Quality players with passion.

BTW. I can bet my left testis that if it was an Arsenal GK that did that to a City player, it would have been red card, but there wasn't even a foul given for that challenge on Martinelli. The GK got the ball but he also got the man, and he was the last man.

Foden goal was an offside all day long , how lines man can't see that beats my imagination.

Runnarson Arsenal career should have ended this night. They should bundle him back to Finland. What a calamity. The scout who recommended him should be sacked too. Wayward passes from the back all night and capped by howler for the City second goal.

Ceballos is a let down. Too many wayward passes when he attempted forward passes, doesn't have the legs to cover ground quickly nor the trickery to skip past players.
That loan should end in loan. He is simply not good enough.

Elneny only knows how to play backward passes as well. Should be sold.

Willock continues failing his audition. Should be loaned out for two years or sold. Not good enough or not yet ready.

I liked what I saw in Balogun. Made one good move that presented Pepe with a good shooting chance that he characteristically ballooned, I wonder what they do in training sessions at Arsenal.
Smith Rowe performance was encouraging.

Overall, it's another loss at Emirates, and I expect Chelsea to win easily come next game.
Nwanna, I think that you are harsh on Willock, he was a threat with his runs and kept Rodri on his toes. He won us some corner kicks. As for the rookie goalie, he seems to have too much confidence. He even comes out of his box to collect pass! Yet he is still very much trainable, please don't end his career now.

so teams with low XG are defensive teams while teams with High XG are attacking teams. So invariably, you're saying any team with high XG must definitely have good attackers? And any team with low XG have poor attackers?

At least mk I know were you stand, cos that's the main issue we're having.
A team with high xG put more men and effort into attacking than defending. They are an attacking team. A team with low xG means they defend more.

This is not absolute but that's the idea behind such stats.

how will you know an efficient attack?
Is it converting the chances created or just creating chances alone?
Cos this one you're saying that Leeds have scored more goals than us no add up
If it is not true say so. And please follow my statements. Leeds is an attacking team was the point I raised not necessarily that they are very good. Yes they create chances and for their level are quite efficient OK because they score goals too. They have scored 24goals in PL two less than Leicester in second. They have scored 3x as we have. How can you say they are not efficient? Patrick Bamford is their leading scorer with 9goals in 14games. For a low level team, that's impressive. Common angry

Arterta don suffer. cheesy

Of course Emery wasn't the problem neither is/was he the solution, I just hated why everyone was scapegoating, heaping blames and everything on him and leaving the players, board, scouts out of the issue.

My main problem with Emery was trusting useless and average players and also handing Xhaka captain armband.

I no too blame Arterta, the job and Arsenal's problem is too big for him.

Something tells me he'll try to win a trophy this season to cement his job and win over some fans again.

Arsenal need a klopp like manager who will find aggressive strong talented hidden players who can play fast attacking lovely football.
Arteta is inexperienced and also unfortunate to manage the club at a time when poor management structures are in place. I was one of those who campaigned for him, because he looks like someone who is intelligent and principled. I will still give him till end of season. He seems to have a plan and I am interested in knowing how it will work out. He made a terrible mistake freezing out Ozil after failing to sign an AM. So he has Jan to correct his error, by then we will see how he will do.

Now it's happening..
You are saying the opposite because Emery has a better win ratio.

Nobody will criticize Arteta if he chooses to go defensive against the big teams, after all that's what we criticized arsene Wenger for. But to do that against small teams Is what is paining every arsenal fan no matter how you wanna paint it.

The 6-0, 5-1 and 8-2 scorelines we're receiving still dey yield us top4 then.
But now the 1-0s and 0-0s scoreline dey carry us to relegation.

Me, I know which one I go pick sha
Here again you are right. So we are mixing it up somewhere.

Going defensive against small teams only means that he does not have enough attackers because no reasonable coach with a balanced team would do that. His team is not balanced so that explains it. I don't like it, it has affected us badly as we can't create enough to score. But we know that without the right personnel he can't play attacking football.

So an attack that squander goals and big chances is called "A strong/good attack" just because they create?
The fact that their xG is high, that is they create LOTS of scoring chances shows that their attack is strong. Whether those chances are taken or not is another stats.

Take for example teams like Liverpool, City usually have high xGs. While Tottenham, Burnley, Sheffield United have comparable low xG.

Lol... I know say na stats you go brings. That stats is really skewed and doesn't tell the full story.

A good attack is one that will give you goals with respect to the chances created. With that, I'll tell you that the reason Leeds are in the same position with us is not because of poor defence solely (yes they have one of the poorest defence in the league no doubt), but also poor attack.

Check it out, the have one of the highest (if not the highest) of chances missed and big chances missed. You think if that very average bamford and some of their players convert their chances they'll be in the same position with us? Lol.

They're lacking in two department... Defence and attack

We're also lacking in two department... Midfield and attack.

Leicester no be any of us mates cos they're good in those 3 to some extent.

No even try lump leceister and Leeds as teams with good attack. Leeds are suffering not just because of their poor defence, but their equally v.poor attack. In fact I don't even know between attack and defence which one even worse pass sef for Leeds. Those two departments are so damn poor.
I expected your first line just to dampen the facts and figures I brought up.

For your kind information, chances/goals missed also show strong attack. Analysts call it xG margins or expected goal margin. Leeds have a high xG similar to Leicester so all your talk is just out of point.

Mind you, do a research before opposing a view. Thanks.

That's our point.

...We saying Arteta prioritized defence over attack is just the breakdown of what we're saying not blaming Gabriel, Luiz or anybody.
I know and I am not saying you are wrong, I am saying the coach is right to do so based on the situation we are in.

From my analysis in the post above, you will agree that there is an improvement in our defense. The problem like I have been shouting since is that there is no balance in the team due to we lack an AM, which hampers our attack. This I do not want to blame Arteta for (at least till Jan is over). But when you have to choose, in a case where there is no balance, I'll choose to be defensive. So Arteta is right to keep the defense intact. I bet you, with this inbalance in the squad, focusing more on attack will send us to relegation and we will be experiencing 6-0 scorelines against big teams.

The bolded is not true, Signing a Sanchez and Carzola esque in LW/AM won't make Arsenal sit in 15th never.
The defense would be settled and will defend with calmness if the forwards can bury 2goals in first half.

After Mc Tomimay scored 2 yesterday, I saw Leeds mount pressure on utd's defence, but their attackers kept on countering the pressure on Leeds defence till they scored more and more.
If Only Leeds buried their chances, it could have ended 6-5 and that's better than losing 1-0 and no sign of your team looking like scoring even if much time is to be added.

Even When Mustafi was commuting errors. We were still scoring and winning games.
It's funny how too soon you have forgotten all those comics we suffered from our defense to the point you even feel we shouldn't have strengthened defense at all. OK. All those times you were crying for a DM have all disappeared abi? OK.

You think that with a Sanchez you will score 2 easy goals in the first half... grin

I am pretty sure if we did not have Aubameyang you would have said the same thing. But let me show you something...

............................P W D L GF GA GD PTS
2. Leicester 14 9 0 5 [26] (17) 9 27

14. Leeds 14 5 2 7 [24] 30 -6 17

15. Arsenal 14 4 2 8 12 (18) -6 14

From the table, you could see that both Leicester and Leeds have similar strength in attack but Leeds have a poor defense. Their strong attack has not helped the team at all. If they sign a DM or a defender depending on what they need, they would be like Leicester. Arsenal has a similar strength in defense as Leicester but are in the same position with Leeds because of poor attack. Let them sign an AM and they will be like Leicester.

But please note, Leicester are not an exceptional team, they only have a balance between attack and defense. You will notice that as you go up in the league table, teams with more balance in attack and defense are higher than those who have not irrespective of their individual team strengths.

Bro, sincerely Arteta dey fvck up but we shouldn't take the fact away that some of these players self are not good enough...

A layman compared Wolves team to our without bias bro those boys are better than ours.

If those boys playing for wolves get priviledge to play for Arsenal plus a good coach coaching them forget it they will compete for Top4.
Wolves aren't doing well either. I think you are just driven by sentiments. Leicester and Everton are pushing above their weights, they are good examples you can use.

As for Arteta, I think he is playing the fool for the board. They made him freeze out Ozil without replacement, now it's affecting the team and we now believe he is a defensively minded coach simply because he chose to strengthen our defense.

Let me tell you, 15th place would be a dream come true if we had not signed Gabriel and/or Partey and got only Aouar instead. You have not experienced what a bad defense can do, or probably you have forgotten the calamitous tears we had when our defenders became clowns every night despite that we were scoring goals.

The problem with this team is simply the lack of an AM and the fact that the DM we signed isn't playing. That's why I can forgive Arteta's errors as this team is so balanced. Once Jan is over and we have an AM and Partey returns from injury, then I expect this team to do a lot better.

Saka has always been good at the RW even more than Pepe. The way he cut in so cleanly is orgasmic. Also, the fact that he uses his right foot for cut backs is a plus too. As for Willian,i no even know wetin to talk.
Towards the end of the match Willian became impressive when he dropped deeper into central midfield. His ball carriage was good as he found Saka on the right several times and also helped opened up space for Martinelli. Just that we couldn't find time to plan our attack. If there is any sense left in Arteta's head he should use whatever formation he adopted towards the end of that match.

Take it into context, apart from Francis Jeffers who was mismanaged (same thing I want us to protect Nketiah from) every other top England U21 goal scorers have made it big. They say he has spent a long time, that's absolute rubbish. Nketiah has only played 12games scoring 14goals. Compare that to Tammy Abraham 9goals 26games, Alan Shearer 13goals 11games.
