I think that because guns still get into the hands of people illegally ot makes the whole idea of gun restriction useless. A better approach for me would be to legalise semi lethal guns to more people. For example, a university junior lecturer should be able to buy one for as low as 100k.

The Supreme Court has, today, delivered judgement in the case brought to it against the 36 state Governors by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government.

1. The court held that it is illegal for Governors to dissolve democratically elected Local Governments.

2. It orders the Federal Government to henceforth withhold allocations to Local Governments governed by unelected officials appointed by the Governor.

3. The apex court barred the Federal Government from further paying LG allocations through the State Governments since the practice has been abused by Governors.

This is one good move by the BAT administration. Though it's a drop in an ocean but still commendable.

Are they oblivious to the fact that this ministry can assist those outside the traditional livestock rearing people in Nigeria to kick start their own local and state industry in livestock rearing ?

The deforestation in the south has opened up the south to cattle rearing and that's why the Fulanis who used to avoid the dense tropical rain forests in the south are now bringing their cattle down south ?

Is it not then left to southerners to key into the creation of this dedicated ministry and get all the support they can in kick starting their own livestock industry?

This ministry is not the failed RUGA initiative that was meant to create islands of Fulani settlements across Nigeria. This ministry was created simply to improve the cattle and livestock breeding.

In this proposed ministry, poultry , piggeries and fisheries and other livestock breeding will fall under its purview.

So if you are into fisheries , poultry and piggery business, this ministry captures your interests.

What happened to the ministry of Agriculture? Or isn't livestock part of agriculture any more? Keep deceiving yourself. Tinubu opened the ministry under the request of Miyetti Allah

The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister (Mrs) Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has filed a suit against Hon. Kafilat Ogbara as well as Arise Television, for defamation of character to the tune of N1 billion naira.

Speaking to the media in her office in Abuja today, she stated that the Writ of Summons followed wrong allegations made by Hon. Ogbara, the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs against her, while answering questions thrown at her during a programme on Arise Television on June 5, 2024.

Kennedy-Ohanenye explained that during the programme, Hon. Ogbara disclosed that the Honourable Minister is already under investigation by the Committee on Public Procurement, adding that she is also being invited to appear before the House Committee on Women Affairs over various offences.

The Minister who disclosed that she was being wrongly accused for transactions that transpired before her assumption of office as the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, informed that the wrong accusations has exposed her to great odium and ridicule, especially before right thinking members of the society, including friends, associates, lawyers, relatives, among others.

Kennedy-Ohanenye explained further that she had expressed her disdain towards the false allegation and till date they had not made any effort to retract it.

"I have reached out to the defendants and spoken to them on how offensive the publication was, especially because it is not true, but till date, they have not apologised to me nor retracted the defamatory publication", she said.

The Honourable Minister therefore stated further that she has filed claims against the defendants jointly and severally for damages amounting to N1b naira for defamation of character.
