Processor01: Guy, this is the second time I will have to call you out here - you really need to speak with facts!
GSB of UCT currently has 21 International Students ( 3 Kenyans, 5 Americans, 2 British, 2 Zimbabwean, 1 Tanzanian, 1 Japanese, 1 Indian, 1 Nigerian...not sure of the rest). This is info is only for its full time program with a current class size of 54.
Please, if you have left, enjoy your stay in Nigeria and stop dissuading folks from studying in SA. By the way according to fees structure of GSB they don't count other africans as international, Nigerians, Zimababweans and south africans are all paying the same fees which isn't like that in the main stream UCT campus. Its only non africans that pay difernt fees in GSB |

Bros stop lying there are 5 americans even in the peak of GSB they had 3 americans in 2014 now you claim there are 5 americans. We don't need to hide true situations when we want to defend something |

❗Xenophobia Alert❗
A section of South Africans are planning a demonstration next month ( 24 February) against the influx of foreign nationals who they accuse of taking their jobs.
Flyers circulating online indicate that South Africans are fed up with their government granting asylum seekers status.
They singled out Zimbabweans,Nigerians and Pakistanis as major problems saying there was no war in these countries.
“Why is the government giving asylum seeker(s) status to Nigerians, Zimbabweans, Pakistanis.
“Is there war in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Pakistan etc?” reads part of the flyer that might stoke up xenophobic attacks.
It said unemployment levels are at massive 34% in South Africa “but they give people asylum seeker(s) status when there is no work in South Africa.
“What do you expect them to do? They will commit crimes, got to Spar, Cash crusades, Nandos, restaurants and other companies etc.
PLEASE SPREAD TO OUR FOREIGN BROTHERS N

Last year, I said the fees must fall protest will affect the standard of education in SA, you all shut me down. Today I was chatting with an IAPO staff of UCT he told me that they have lost about 30% international students, which means a fall in revenue. GSB of UCT has no international (non african) students at all. I can not believe that UCT won't resume till march, wow! It is well with SA o. I thank God I have left finally, it takes courage |

I Yes you need proof of accommodation and flights reservation. Thanks Some schools don't qualify for student visa |

You can not convert a visitor's visa to any other visa in SA, never! You would be required to go back to Nigeria first. Even if you have a million dollars. |

samuelUMOH: Activate your online banking .You can transfer naira to someone account here and get rand in exchange . 2. Open stanbic account and inform them you are going SA 3. or open access bank account and get master card .Some people on this forum use this method. You can swipe your card here but I doubt if you can withdraw via ATM . Its like you don't know the new rules of CBN, for Access Bank no withdrawals can be made abroad on your master card but you can swipe a max of $200 a month, gtb $100. Govt has tighten up on forex. The best you can do is get a dom account, pay in USD and use the card abroad, but you will source for your uSD at the black market, but swiping unlimitedly on your naira master/visa card is no more |

A refugee is a person whose life is under threat in his home country. So my question is, is your life under threat in Nigeria? 2 are you ready to be regarded as a refugee, a degrading term just because you want to leave Naija. I wonder why you will want this for yourself? |

Ladies and Gentlemen, It is really great to be back home in Nigeria, its like a dream come true. It took a lot of courage though but am happy I did. I will be here in Lagos for a while, my journey in SA has been a privilege one, can only but give thanks to God. There is no where like home. Dont be too comfortable in a country like SA, always have it at the back of your mind that you are coming back home. Believe me Nigeria can only get better, personally I think the worse is over in Naija. I have met great people through this medium, just a day before I was leaving femiaction called me that he has got a PR, I remember when he was denied a spousal visa in Nigeria in 2014 today he is a PR holder. My next trip to SA I must visit Durban. I still have my contacts in SA. A few of you have seen my SA ID so its not as if I am leaving because of immigration issues. I will still invest massively in SA and Nigeria God willing.
Above all, if you are coming to SA or you are in SA already make sure you have the right immigration status, dont do drugs, dont do scam, represent us well
God bless you. |

Tamotiye: For y'all coming to SA to hussle I'll advice you not to come. I am currently in Nigeria and been to SA twice and I'd say it's one of the best countries in the world especially Capetown which boasts many infrastructures you'll NEVER see in the rest of Africa. One thing though, if you are looking to go to other countries from SA, I'll say you NEED a form of resident permit which MUST be issued in Nigeria. For example if you're a student and you really go to the school then applying to USA etc is not a problem. The South Africans DON'T travel abroad. Only few of them do and when they do they stick to the rules of their visas. Their passport is visa free to many European countries for example Ireland and the USA Embassy in Capetown or J'borg will give you a 10 years visa unlike Naija where you get a 2 years. South Africans don't go out of their country looking for 'greener' pastures on visitors visa, they'll apply for work permits etc from their country if they feel they need to work so the embassies there do not scrutinize their applications as they are very honest when it comes to visa applications. Anyway I hope y'all get what am saying since I know SA is a last resort for anyone leaving Nigeria. If you're going in order to go to another country, make sure you have any form of permit from Nigeria and the rest is easy. What @tamitoye means by resident permit is actually called Temporary Resident visa (TRV) its only when you get a Permanent Resident Permit (PRP) that you can call your visa a permit. TRVs are either for students, workers, accompany spouse, etc. |

EUGENE846: Some people like making mountain out of mole hill and belittling/discouraging others is there hobby. They are the ones who will tell you not to go to SA schools but they would be collecting money from others to do it for them (that's their means of livelihood anyway). They will tell you that there is no job in SA but they are making a living there.
My people, do not allow anyone to discourage you. That which you have set your mind to do, do it. If you succeed you will be glad. If u fail, u have a story to tell and lesson to learn.
The guy never asked anyone to construct a letter for him. He only demanded to be directed on the supposed content of the letter which someone happily did with 2 samples.
Many have asked their ways to success through this forum (Seun be blessed)... So bro, never stop asking even the silliest of questions, there will always be someone to attend to you and if you don't get an answer, ask again. anyone who doesn't like your question should either ignore or say rubbish at his or her peril.
MY QUESTION: how much is a cup of egusi in SA When people say the reality on this thread, it is termed as "discouragment". The opportunities a lot of us have are no more or its harder now and that's the reason, a lot of us our parents married in their 20s and built houses in their 30s, but if your father tells you don't marry before you are ok financially and you are 28 without a job, is this discouragment? No, it just shows that the opportunities then are no more available now. Our fathers could marry without a steady income, try it now! Like I say, because I make money from a sector will not make me say the truth, people call me from this thread and I assist even though I make cheese from them, but I also tell them the gospel truth about sa. That said, anyone can blow (make money) in any part of the world. You can blow in a recessed economy like Nigeria, in a shrinking economy of SA also you can fail in the best economies of usa, china or germany. Ones blessings are not tied to a geographical region. Have seen people come to SA and failed and got back to Naija and blew |

HankVoight: I agree with @staggerlee ... Its amazing how someone who is applying for a post graduate degree does NOT know how to write a sponsorship letter.
South Africa has become very competitive and policies from home affairs change constantly you have to learn to work within the system He shared an opinion most of us have here, its hard to fathom how our fellow Nigerians do not properly carry out research before coming here.
For someone who has an honours degree and masters degree from a South African institution, the advice I got here has been very benefical to my success. This is no paradise. Its all about hard work, patience and faith. We are here to help each other so do I do not like it when some does not appreciate such advise . Honestly the truth is hard to swallow, Schools in SA are on the down slide because of regular protests and strikes. SA is fast losing academics to other schools. If you check the business schools now, because they have to stay afloat, they have reduced entry criteria example is GSB of UCT. Most schools now don't have date of resumption for 2017 as at December 1st 2016. How can they even have, when some schools will only complete 2016 calendar in 2017. After all said and done, the decision lies in the hands of each and everyone to decide. I just give my view but seems my view is becoming irritating to a lot of people here. I will end this in pidgen english, "wetin we see wey carry us stay for southie, we no dey see am again" |

Nulasco: I think what he's trying to say is world university ranking according to who? We have world university ranking according to Qs, webometics, timeshighereducation, oxford etc which one you talking among them.
He gave valid link according to "timeshighereducation" showing UCT among top 200, so show yours that prove UCT is not among top 200. I think you should be able to comprehend Simple ABC as a Professional you're. 1.From the link below we will see that it is only the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking that is 2016. THE ranked UCT outside 200. Other ranking bodies are not as recent https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rankings_of_universities_in_South_Africa2. According to QS ranking, they ranked UCT 191 in 2016 using the 2015 academy year. http://www.topuniversities.com/node/294601#wur3. According to Center for World University Ranking (CWUR), its only Wits that is ranked in top 200 http://cwur.org/2016.phpBut there is an aggregate score world recruiting bodies use, for example there is a program in Netherlands, were Postgraduate degree holders from top 200 universities in the world can live and work in Netherlands, no university in SA is recognised in the scheme. But previously, UCT and Witts were there |

They having upto 5/7 universities in Top 10 in Africa. Which Nigeria University is in top 1000? Only 1 even made Top 10 in Africa.
Atleast I have some friends doing Msc Phd in all these Western Schools that are not even among the Top 200 or 500 in the world. How many people are going to Harvard, Oxford, MIT, Stanford, Manitoba, WesternOntario and the likes ??
