14: It appears you are a South African, well i say worse things about my own country especially when Jonathan ruled Nigeria, now i sense hope in Nigeria. The number one problem of the country, South Africa is Jacob Zuma once that guy is removed there is hope for S.A. all the issues of S.A. can be traced to bad govt led by Mr JZ. Xenophobia can be traced to unemployment, shrinking economy is also because of govt, last year South Africa was ranked number 1 most corrupt country in Africa thanks to JZ. Am sorry if i dont have anything good to say about S.A. but the SA that i saw when i came into it is not what it is anymore. S.A.'s issues came too rapidly, more blacks are being empowered which brings more problems, look at the strike in the mining sector of 2014 that lasted 5 months, till today S.A. hasn't recovered from the loss. Same goes to fees must fall protests, forcing schools to cut cost which will ultimately affect educational quality. All these issues were not what you hear of 4 years ago and suddenly gbam they all came. Thanks to Jacob Zuma 1 Like |

Keneking: Blacks in western cape are more chilled considering the people they live with but you step out of that zone its a different ball game. You think Gauteng is bad, go to kzn where the king instructed the natives to chase foreigners, there are 8 major metros in S.A. out of the 8 i can only safely say only 2 welcome foreigners, city of cape town and nelson mandela bay. In nelson mandela bay its only port Elizabeth that is accommodating. Try entering a taxi in jozi (a taxi is where average South Africans meet) and see the hostility you get for not speaking a native language, same goes for taxis in Mphumalanga, polokwane in limpopo, Durban in KZN. Even in western cape, take a taxi to places like Nyanga or Gugulethu and you dont speak xhosa, you will hate yourself. |

14: I wont even argue with you with statistics of 2015, at least the ricjest man in Africa is a Nigerian, apart from that owner of sundowns, motsepe or so the richest south africans are bloody white people who illegitimately took the land from black people, soon the land will be taken back. |

Thecassanova: No wonder you live in cape town , you wont really geel the harsh reality of South Africa because cape town is chilled with a high population of whites and coloured people. Try live in Gauteng. I have lived in CT well as well as Midrand there is a difference. Dont mislead people. I am only being blunt |

Thecassanova: Voluntary work permit/visa is a visa issued to people that are going to S.A. for non profitable jobs like churches, members of red cross, etc. It is normally issued to people staying beyond a month. You are not allowed to take up regular employment, or study with such a visa |

welf99: Whether you believe or not the average South African hates you as a foreigner it is the harsh truth. If you like hate my statement, they dont want us in their country. I am very well educated and lived all my life in S.A. in good suburbs i have had a very fair share of the hatred, from school, to office, to banks, to taxis (will never take a taxi in jozi again). This is a personal experience. Even to children that know nothing they are not liked |

Keneking: Bros have taught in grade classes and i can tell you its full of sh*t. The UK economy isnt growing but it is very very stable it is not contracting. U.K. economy does not have to grow, it is a developed economy unlike S.A. where it is a developing economy. I wonder why you should even compare a junk status economy to European economy, guy dont try it. I have not said naija has a better economy but you guys just chill a few years. Sadly S.A. is moving slowly towards doom, while Nigeria is moving slowly towards boom. Please bookmark this page and God willing we shall all be alive by 2020 to refresh. I will put a clause though if Zuma can be removed before or by June S.A. has hope if not you all guys will see the gall of S.A. (its not a curse) also if the present govt in Nigeria is ousted prematurely then i cant guaranty Nigeria's boom again. Calls of reclaiming land is gone beyond politics now, with a bad economy more people will shout it. I really dont see why south African blacks shouldnt take back their land, if it were us that some white assholes chased us from our land will we not agitate to take back our land? I actually support the call to take back the land. Is just that these South African blacks are bloody lazy, but its going to happen soon. For how long will universities in S.A. keep their ranking. Already uct resumed only in March for 2017 session (it has never happened before). European lecturers are diminishing by the day, but lets watch. |

Chukwuka16: South Africa's downfall is coming fast unless Jacob Zuma leaves today. Look at the educational sector, the universities used to be very great, but now the grade 1 to 12 schools are getting worse by the day. Due to corruption and contrasting economy of S.A. govt can no longer fund education adequately. Things like this will only get worse. For the paat 3 financial years S.A. economy has contrasted instead of growing, S.A. is sitting on a kettle of gun powder that can explode anytime. As long as the economy is getting worse the shouts of reclaiming the land will increase and you know S.A.'s biggest problem? South Africans and residents have not seen their problems some that see it believe its the whites that is causing it or foreigners. I said it on this trend weeks before the last xenophobic attacks that there was going to be one soon i was shut up. It happened, i said it too that fees must fall protests will kill educational institutions I was also told to shut up. The thing about most Africans is that we always hope, when the signs are there. 2 Likes |

Keneking: Making money in ZAR is better based on perspective, there are more millionaires in usd in Nigeria than S.A. it also depend on what you do. I am an entrepreneur and the opportunities am seeing in Nigeria i never saw it in S.A. i do not believe in a capitalist economy, the same people that own bread factories own the banks. 80% of the land in S.A. is owned by 5000 white families. That explains why the same bread you see in cape town is what you see in jozi. Even to set up a bread making factory in S.A. na its impossible you have to franchise from existing factories like Albany or Sasco. With credit downgrade we will see and continue this in 2 years' time |

Keneking: You really don't understand how the currency work. First i will teach you some basic economics. Our economy in Nigeria is not credit driven, south Africa is. This is potential danger now that in under 10 years S.A. credit ratings have gone from A+ to junk status. SARB has ajusted lending rate from 4% to 7% in 4 years. And will review upwards soon because of junk. In S.A. you hardly see anyone buying cars in cash they do it on credit and the instalment will go far up now, same goes for mortgage and credit cards. Now there will be massive job cuts and since SA is more or less a capitalist society, going into business will be hard. In nigeria we are not controlled by indices we see on paper. We have so much informal sector, we are used to economic changes and the worst that can happen has passed. We dont rely on FG for anything. Unlike S.A. 17 million people out of 54million are on social grants how will govt continue funding the scheme. If they stop more chaos in the system. Another thing you should look out, a lot of people that migrated lawfully outside nigeria did so for economic reasons, so if the economy of your host country starts to shake immigrants will feel it more. Especially in a country that is known to be xenophobic. Its better to be in one's home country with a bad economy than to be in a foreign country that has a bad economy. Even without junk status South African rands is one of the most volitile currencies in the world. It is affrcted by so many factors. Price of commodities such as gold, political such as if zuma sneeze rand go shake, it also affected by currency speculators recently banks were indicted for this. Malaysia has a very week currency compared to the US dollar but they are one of the best economy in the world. If an economy can stabilise its currency no matter the rate the country will do well. The problem with naija currency of late its the fluctuation of the nair even if it is 1000 naira to $1 let it be stable naija will adjust. Finally, if (and i repeat if) zuma goes in 2019, he will put his stooge probably his ex wife to continue his legacy. Believe ANC will win again and zuma has majority of support forget the media. Already there is a campaign to take back the land from the whites and this time they will do it because that will appease people towardsANC. The protests last week was termeda racists protests, EFF's own tomorrow might be bloody. 2019 in S.A. is too long to hope for unless zuma goes today, which is impossible he has the country by its balls 1 Like 1 Share |

PRETORIA (Reuters) - South Africa's central bank on Monday warned that the recent cabinet reshuffle that saw the finance minister fired and the country's credit relegated to "junk" could pressure the rand and accelerate inflation as inventors sold off local assets. The rand has slipped nearly 12 percent since March 27 when President Jacob Zuma recalled then-finance minister Pravin Gordhan from an international roadshow, before firing him later that week. Last week S&P Global and Fitch cut the country's sovereign credit rating to subinvestment on the back of Gordhan's axing, both saying his departure raised the risk of a fiscal policy shift. "Rising uncertainty about the future of economic policy could prompt capital outflows in anticipation of such downgrades," the Reserve Bank (SARB) said in its annual Monetary Policy Review. The bank said the biggest risk to its policy aim of keeping consumer prices below 6 percent was the weakening exchange rate. "Domestically the situation has been challenging ... it has been making policy-making very difficult," he told a news conference after the Reserve Bank (SARB) released the review. In March the bank kept its benchmark repo rate unchanged at 7 percent, citing re-emerging risks to the exchange rate. It added then that it had reached the end of its tightening cycle which has seen it lift rates by a cumulative 200 basis points since 2014. [nL5N1H74WI] "The risk is that the rand could follow a more depreciated path than expected, which would, other things being equal, raise inflation," the bank said in the statement. Prior to that meeting, forward rate agreements were pricing in at least one rate cut by 25 basis points in 2017, but on Monday the forward markets were pricing zero percent probability of a cut this year. In response to questions from Reuters on Monday the bank said it would stick to setting benchmark lending rates rather than intervene in the exchange markets. [nJ8N1BY02B] "We would consider becoming involved if the orderly functioning of the foreign exchange markets is under threat, guided by financial stability considerations," Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank (SARB) Daniel Mminele said in emailed responses to questions. http://af.reuters.com/article/investingNews/idAFKBN17C22M-OZABS?pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0 |
