Good day house

I have a brother who wants to leave Nigeria albeit, legally and legitimately. He is considering Dubai and South Africa, but I have told him to forget about the U.A.E.
He wants to come to South Africa to set up a business, but is confused as to what kind of legitimate business he can setup in Southy with a budget of 600,000-1,200,000 naira, just for setting up a business or buying an existing business. I need to know if it is enough or too small to setup something legitimate (no matter what it is as long as it is legitimate)over there. The business will employ south Africans.
What are his chances of obtaining a visa for this purpose and what kind of visa will be given to him?
Please need your urgent answers staggerlee and Co. cc justwise

Note: He has given up on doing anything in Nigeria and only needs a saner society where things work to make a legitimate living for himself, so no stay back in Nigeria advice or use that money in Nigeria advice will be welcomed grin
Thanks all
To gett a business visa in sa you need to have shown proof that you can invest 5 million rands in sa economy. However, people use other means of setting up businesses which are not entirely legal.

No sir ! Students with masters degree and enrolled for PhD are employed as contract lecturer /tutor and paid above 7000rand.Although those who earn higher pay a little as tax but it is not ILLEGAL! So far you don't exceed the 20hours per week .I speak through experience not hearsay.More importantly I know few guys here( nairaland ) who came 2014 for postgraduate and are earning well with the study permit approved by the Dean of their respective colleges .It is not ILLEGAL .Hopefully Some of them will have time to comment on this .
Anyway the person I referred to was coming for undergrad and to be a tutor u must at least be a masters student (not necessarily hold a masters degree) it was a typo

To be a tutor you have to be at least a master's student. Not everyone gets a tutorial job that pays u 16k rands job. for you info as a student you cant earn more than 7000 rands job a month, thats the immigration law. A student is exempted from paying tax and the threshold on tax is about 6000 rands a month. if you earn more than the threshold then you should pay tax. so no one will pay you above the threshold, if you earn more than that as a foreign student u are illegal

Living in half bedroom with Asylum and eating twice a meal in SA is far better than living in 2-bedroom in Nigeria with no electricity/water, fueling car @ 143 unpaid salary and uncertain 2.square meal. Asylum doesn't mean you can't come back to your country if you are tired of staying there is just for you to move freely and even buy a good car with it, you can even go back to Nigeria if you have no passport using travel certificate (TC), and whoever thinks education (just a stepping stone) is the future to wealth should retrace his steps and mind you not everyone can afford one, do you think paying 150k for school tuition is easy at the end of the day where the work? We all have different dreams, if they eventually give anyone 3.months visa to SA go there and explore at the long.run you can study @ any university with your asylum like UNISA (University of South Africa in Sunnyside Pretoria) with your school ID no police will harass you, if you can't live there change your ticket and come back home. South Africa is far better than Europe even UK (can you afford the bills in Europe?)... I stayed in Antwerp, Belgium you hardly find blacks to relate with and high discrimination/racist look in bus train/public place but in SA you will definitely have a companion either Nigerian or SA'n anywhere you are to give you heads up, walk in the malls like Kings. If you got plans your permit will come in due course.... My own take is play it cool be steadfast and don't do drugs.
South Africa is a great country no doubt, I am a permanent resident of south Africa with an SA I.D but resently went back to Nigeria to start up something though my family still lives in SA so I am tied to SA so I can't diss SA. My point is that a nigerian is too big to live as a refugee in SA or anywhere else. It is wrong, asylum is for people under threat from their home countries, we aren't under any threat in Nigeria so stop advising people on the internet to do things the dodgy way it is not fair on Nigeria it is not fair on the host country. You keep saying Nigeria is bad, but u are part of the bad if u keep encouraging pple to come and stay in SA as a liar. If anyone wants to migrate to any country with all pleasur please do its a free world, there are channels to do it unfortutunately the channels are not legally open to everyone. Don't use false identity to get it, don't lie your passport is missing so that you can travel with a TC, people on asylum can not open a bank account anymore in SA. Like I said there is an on-going debate to stop asylum holders from working and studying, it is not yet effective, still on the discussion level. Peace!

The "wrongest" piece of advice anyone can give you is going to get asylum from SA. There is a new debate now in parliament to stop asylum seekers from going to schools and stop working. I think leaving a country like Nigeria to collect asylum in SA is dehumanizing! SA isn't Yamkee neither is it western europe. If you can't have the necessary papers legally in SA, just don't bother! There is no legitimate job for people who do not have a work visa in South Africa, and to get a work visa you need to be very skilled with a competent body accreditng your skills. It is a tough one don't come to SA and hang you will be forced to go into crime, which we don't want to happen

Why will you go on a visitor's visa and plan not to return? How do you intend to live in SA? You can't convert your visitor's to any other kind of visa in SA. Please south africans and other Nationales read Nairalang and you are making it harder for genuine visa seekers to get visas by spilling your intended fraudulent ways to the world.

I am in Lagos presently, what have found out is that agents in Nigeria use the information on this thread and sell to gullible Nigerians. They help Nigerians to get admissions in SA schools for around a fee of 300k and above. The agents actually do nothing and admissions they get are for very weak SA schools

I intend to apply for a critical skills visa in the coming weeks from here in nigeria. I could be greatful if anyone explains to me what exactly im i supposed to submit to show proof of sufficient financial means. Ok i know im suppose to submit bank statements but .......
1. In whose name should the bank statements be on, Myself or the host?
2. Should it be a SA or Naija issued bank statement?

If anyone has successfully applied for this visa it could be helpful if they share what kind of documents they submitted to show proof of financial means.
Yourself, the overview of critical skills visa is that you have experience in that field and that means you have made money from the past in that field. You can add your host's as supplementary

When i get to SA, do i still need to go to the home affairs office to submit all the documents listed?

Thanks a lot for the advise.
Ok cool, you still need to go to any home affairs office in SA to tender all these things after resumption. BTW what field are you or what is ur job role

I finally got my visa today! Praise God!.

However, i applied for critical skills and got exceptional skills - 2years.

Does anyone know why this was issued rather than the critical skills? And is it renewable?
Did apply in Lagos? Cos I know they still give exceptional skills outside SA. However you must get a job before 12months and go to a home affairs office and submit proof that u are gainfully employed

Greetings to you all.
Please i need clarity on this issue; between 2001 and 2014 my dad resided in Jo'burg SA and while filing for his permanent residence he included us his 4 kids in his application though we never visited SA. My question is;in the near future we intend to process our residence permit, can we start the processing here from their embassy here in 9ja or we need to be visit SA for the processing? Note that my dad is back here in Nigeria now.
This is the info i got from the web.......
"This category of permits applies to foreigners who: are in possession of a permanent work offer in South Africa, or have exceptional skills and qualifications intend to establish a business in South Africa qualify as Refugees in terms of Section 27(c) of the Refugees Act qualify as retired persons are financially independent are relatives (biologically or judicially adopted) of a South African
citizen/permanent residence permit holder You can apply for all Permanent Residency Permits at the Department
of Home Affairs, at the nearest office in the South African province in
which you intend to live and work. Alternatively, if you are based
overseas, you can apply at your nearest South African embassy, mission
or cunsulate in the country in which you live."

my dads response.......
The four of you are part of my permanent residence, application, but you can only access it,once entered SA,on visitor's visa, you then apply as accompanied permanent resident, after, it has been granted, you can now file for your own permanent resident permit. They are not very predictable these days, many applications are still pending for over 4years now,but the applicants would be given acknowledgement receipt, most information on their websites are not so in practice. Www.homeaffairs.com.za you can visit it,for more robust details.

Which way? Make una answer me abeg
When last did ur father come to SA? There is a clause on Permanent Residence permits that states that a PRP holder can not leave the country for three years straight or else he/she can lose the PRP

Also for every PRP issued, the holder must come into SA within a year after the the PRP has been issued. For example, if you were issued PRP march 2014, you must come into SA before March 2015

1. how would i apply to secure 6months/1 year multiple entry to south africa.
2. this is my second time of applying for sa visa. do i need all documents used in my previously application.
3. is prepaid or confirmed booked hotel a criteria for visa issuance?
4. how long does it take for the visa to be processed.
5. company account above 2million and savings 800k will it be okay for the visa issuance
please i need your professional advice
Since you want professional advise you have to pay for it (joking) but I can offer a candid advise. Am not sure you can get one year or 6 months visa unless you are a frequent traveller to SA or you get a relative or accompany visa. I think your bank statement is good enough, I will also advise you to do paid booking. All your previous docs too will be relevant

Hello house, I have a problem...I intend to apply for Msc in Uni of cape town, Uni of Wits, and Uni of stellenbosch for 2017, but from what I see, the program starts in January 2017. Is there any way I can start by June or July because am working on something now. And I wont like to abandon it prematurely. Secondly, is there any school that doesnt require SAQA for admission? Thanks.
It depends on the course, some courses you can start in July. I know University of Cape Town doesn't require SAQA, but I will advise you do your SAQA now, its easier for you to do your SAQA while you are still in Nigeria, so if there is a delay you can follow up with your Naija school. You need SAQA for everything here, like joining a proffessional body, getting a job and all

1. I am teaching in a public school in Lagos, which I want to quit for this.
2. This DEd sounds new.
3. What's the prospect ?
4. This program is research only which I am not comfortable with.
5. My SAQA has not been done, can I get admission without it?
6. How is survival in Southy as a Naija?
PHD in whatever field is good, have a solid plan dont rely on what people tell you here. Make sure you have a backup plan on how you will fund yourself. You might get here and land a major way of making extra income, you might get here and not see anything. So prepare for the worst and hope for the best. But I will urge you to do SAQA, maybe not for just admissions but you will need it here.

Most of your posts are always self glorification .how you got PR how you went to America....bla bla .These are childish stuff and personal life stop blowing trumpet that won't help any1 on this forum .Most of your advise always with " K Leg " .To say corporate Sa do not recognise a government owned University is a big lie and fallacy of the highest order .It is only those you are not around SA that will be gullible to your advise .
All you need to do is to go on linkdn, also google the top 20 of 50 south african companies on JSE, go to the companies' websites, look at their managment teams and view their educational backgrounds. Now make a mental or written note and see those who went to the four top schools (UCT, WITTS, UP and Stellinbosch). Also look for recruitment agencies on Linkdn and follow the agencies, also make a note who these agencies are comprised of.
Thank God, you called UKZN a govt university, the economy of SA is not runned by the govt, it is ran by the privates and once this is ran by the privates they tend to make private schools better. This applies to all countries that economy is controlled by private hands, thats why the Yales and Havards will always be better than the Minisotas, where as in a govt driven economy like Nigeria, govt schools are always more recognised. Lets argue based on facts and reasonable conclusion not beer palour facts. BTW if you are coming from Nigeria, UKZN is a better school when compared to almost all schools in Nigeria.

Back to my person, i think you are just beefing, when i say things that i know it becomes bragging, wow! You are low minded (pls its not an insult). I didnt even remember i mentioned going to the US on this thread until I checked my previous posts. Is going to US now bragging? Whats the big deal about going to the US? WHAT? If you go to any good school in SA its either you go to US, Canada or Australia for one exchange or the other. So how can i bragg about the US. I only mentioned to a guy on this thread that even at the point of entry @ the US, I was not asked a return ticket. I was trying to emphasize that its not everytime immigration ask for return tickets and you see that as bragging? Yooo! You need to have a high self esteem.

Again you talk about PR? I tell people about my PR so that i can assist others so that they can see that my point of view can be relevant, but u see it as bragging, yoo! You are very funny and filled with hatred. On this thread I have called people with my own Airtime to lecture people what they should do if they want to get visas and PR fast, easily and legitimately without paying a cent to anyone. Someone talked about IITPSA, i was quick to offer help without knowing the person because i live and work around Midrand. Your sorry self see me as a bragger. At work, my colleagues say I give too much free advise to anyone, I dont mind. They say I should start an agent, I laughed it off. Guy people with hatred do not go far in laugh. Again, i know things that a lot of people dont know because of some things i have privy information about, if you hate that statement you can jump off the cliff I dont care

UKZN has no international clout, corporate SA do not regard UKZN as a top school, go to any corporate organization and google the management team its always UCT or Witts, UP or Stellinbosch. Remember that Afrikaans run these 4 schools and Afrikaans run corporate SA. I wont advise anyone looking for good career in SA to go to durban. Good evening house,

I must commend the advice given out to newbies with regards travelling to SA by gurus in the house, samtol4, staggerlee at al

I'll need your advice regarding pursuing Postgraduate studies in South Africa. I am a graduate of Electrical and Electronic Engineering currently working with one of the electricity distribution companies in Nigeria.

I desire to pursue a Masters degree in Electrical Power Engineering(Research based) .

Please I'll like you to suggest scholarships and schools I can apply to for quality research in Electrical Power Engineering.

Also, I'll like to know if it is possible to get a full scholarship in SA being an international student.

I already have my SAQA, and I got NQF Level 8.

Please sirs I need your guidance/advice if doing a Masters in SA is worth resigning my job for.

Thanks.
This is a very good field and its highly needed in SA, but getting scholarship from scratch is a tough call. Its possible but it is tough. The only scholarship that comes to mind is NRF and you can only apply after you are registered in school. Truth is I advise people to go to top schools like UCT, Witts, Stellinbosch or UP. You need to chase career first before scholarships, you have a better standing world wide if you go to top schools especially UCT or Witts. Chase a good school first before scholarships, based on who your supervisor is you can get funding too. Pls run away from black supervisors in all these schools especially a Nigerian supervisor, who supervises you also matter, for funding, publication and career wise. I know what am saying. Also try and do 1 year course work and one year research, a lot of foreigners get it wrong by doing research only, your coursework puts you on a higher pedestal, if you can have a good grade in course work, you can have an SA transcripts, you can apply for jobs with your transcripts and other things, let SA know that you are good because thats the only thing to show people that you are academically sound. Sholarship or not pls come to SA with this degree, i guaranty u a bright future in SA in max of 2.5 years, and u can easily relocate but choose a very good school and supervisor
