The Government of South Africa has approved the immediate issuance of 5-year-visas to Nigerians who travel to South for business, job and career purpose.

This was made known in Lagos today by South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Mnguni.

Mnguni said SA approved the visa issuance to get rid of the difficulties usually faced by Nigerians when seeking South African visas.

Nobody attempted to assist me with the question I asked above for how many days now.
You have to come first to study, probably masters first. To practise as a Dr in SA you have to write SA's medical license exams. I will advise you to come study in SA first and take it up from there

How is life as a pharmacist in SA?
If I obtained my degree in Nigeria how difficult is it to be registered as a pharmacist there, what's salary like, how is standard of living there too? Which part of SA is best for pharmacy practise, Durban, PE?

Boss staggerlee, thanks for the advise. Any advise you can add to this my post?
Don't know much about pharmacy, but am sure you will be required to probably have a degree (honors or MSC) here in SA before you can practise, have never seen a foreigner being a pharmacist here, not saying they can't be o

I live in SA and a permanent resident permit holder, with an SA I.D' i was in the US last week for a conference when my south african colleague who is married to a Nigerian man pointed out this thread to me, and i was so ashamed to be a Nigerian. Some pieces of advise that i read here was alarming, someone said, people should marry a south african and get a visa to live in SA, why the heck will you marry just because of a visa.

The only reason to come to SA is to come and study or you have critical skill so you can impact SA's ailling economy positively. Study in any of the STEM courses. Dont just come here on any yeye visa and become illegal. We need to restore pride into our nation nigeria. Believe me, if you dont have critical skills now in SA, if u like marry Zumas daughter you cant get a valid permit, unless u have R5m to start a business so that you can get a business visa. Your visitor's visa cannot be converted to any kind of visa. We have a lot of Nigerians here that are loafing the streets of Jozi laundering our image, pls dont come and add to it.

Hello house,

I'm so glad this forum exists, however, i wish i had found it a little sooner...

Anyways, I recently got offered employment by a South African company and i traveled to SA in March to finalize stuff with them. I came back home to apply for the Critical Skills visa. After a lot of back and forth, i got all the required documents except for the confirmation letter from the professional body in SA (IITPSA). However, i have paid for the membership and even gotten an acknowledgement email from the membership officer requesting for my updated CV showing work experience start and end dates. Due to the time i had already spent of getting saqa and other docs (my employemt was supposed to start in May), i decided to do some research and came across Directive 22 of 2014 (http://www.nwivisas.com/nwi-blog/south-africa/immigration-directive-no-22-of-2014/) which basically states that if there's no written confirmation from professional body but there's proof of application for membership with the professional body, then there is no need for any letter of confirmation. So i summoned courage and went to submit yesterday(Thursday) with all other document complete apart from the said letter. i was told to acknowledge an "Incomplete Application" form and state my reason, so i simply quoted the Directive 22 of 2014.

Right now, I have faith i'll get the visa, but to be honest i am terrified inside me.

Does anyone have any words of encouragement for me smiley cry smiley cry smiley
Have you submitted for visa? If yes the go and chill, whatever will be will be, just hope it will be well. Mainwhile if anyone needs help on iitpsa, i can help, i live and work around iitpsa in midrand

Thanks, and yes I am aware that it doesn't make economic sense but my question is will it be an issue at the immigration point?
Yes it can, but personally I have never been asked for my return ticket, presently in america and I was not asked at the point of entry even though I carry a naija passport. In sa I don't need a visa anymore to enter sa cos I am a permanent resident, my advise is if u can get a return ticket just get it

pls explain that "accompanying a relative" because a close person is on tourist visa but staying with someone is SA,but he want to overstay due to job search by his host
The close person of yours is probably overstaying illegally, you can not overstay for any reason on tourist visa and u can not look for jobs on tourist visa.

Accompanying a relative is when a relative (mostly spouse) is in SA on a long term (study or work) she/he is allowed to bring a close relative to SA to stay with him/her for the duration. The relative accompanying will apply for an accompanying visa based on the main person's visa, if granted, the accompanying can stay in SA for as long as the main person stays in SA, but will not be allowed to work or study. Can't even open a bank account.

Another type is you can get a relative visa if u have a relative who is a permanent resident or SA citizen. It is normally for two years but renewable.

Until u have to leave SA before you know that you need to do these things. someone was returned this morning at OR because he had not fulfilled these conditions

For those on Critical Skills visa, you have to fulfill this condition ASAP

To prove that you have complied with the conditions endorsed on your Critical Skills / Quota work visa, please e-mail the following documentation to permitcompliance@dha.gov.za
Certified copy of the first page of your valid passport
Certified copy of your valid Critical Skills / Quota work visa in your passport

There is no tourist or vistors visa that can allow you stay in the republic for up to 3 months, unless you are accompanying a relative or you are on medical visa

I am asking the question in line with your arguments that it is not worth it coming over there. So I wanna ask if PhD puts on in good stead.
If anyone is coming for a PHD, he shouldn't come because he wants to stay here, that shouldn't be the reason you wanna do PHD. If your reason of doing is based on the fact that you want to further your career or for the sake of further knowledge then pleas come and if other opportunities come along the way, then grab it. If u are coming only for other reasons like getting a job here or staying here then it isn't worth it

People still make it big in Naija, in Zim in Burkinafaso, u can make it big anywhere, so let's not put the luck or miracle factor in this

Thank you for the advice, but what are you still doing there then? Plus what kind of Visa did you enter with?
Boss, don't get it wrong not everyone that drop pieces of advice here is frustrated from the system, at times pple advise based on prevalent realities. Our fathers will advise on not to marry if you don't have a job, but most of them married when they were still in colleges. Tiwa Savage will probably advise other women now not to give birth for a broke ass man, but does that mean she should kill her son? With the economy climate in SA and unemployment rate being an all time high of 26.7%, I won't advise any new comer to come to SA, not because I am frustrated here, don't get me wrong, I don't blame anyone for SA's woes! But if you wanna invest in SA, I will gladly tell u, u are welcome, cos SA needs FDI and then you aren't dependant on the economy to get you a job, but, if u say because u don't have a job in Naija, and u wanna come to SA to do masters in order to get a job in SA, I will say don't. If it was 3 years ago or 4 yrs ago I will tell u to come

Yes i did when i got my Police clearance which i used in getting my first student permit, How is it gonna be a problem for me...? Cool all the best

just to Let you know, All my records in the RSA is clear, I did do biometric before I got my first permit and I still have the certificate from 2012, is it usable? I left SA last November 28th
The biometric am talking about is if you did it in SA! If it was done in SA it will be linked to your old passport. So bringing in a new passport could be a bit problematic for u

Like I said, it is personal
Yea I know its personal but it sounds dodgy. Some how authorities here will know from one document or the other, however cos u have lived here before u need SA police report buy since you are lying to SA embassy that u have not lived in SA before you don't, remember that Ur SAQA is linked to ur old passports and other certificates. Naija police clearance is easy to get at alagbon, no long thing. I also hope u have never done any biometrics in SA like in VFS or police station cos if u are, u are on a long thing

I need some clarifications on these questions..I have lived in the RSA For almost 4years, 3years on a study Permit, and another year to and fro on, Visitors Visa, Now i wish to return back again for another study at MONASH, I have been accepted and i have paid all fees, but i was told a Police clearance is needed, is this compulsory..? Although i have my police clearance from South Africa when i first applied for my first study permit there, but i do not intend to submit my new passport along side the hold one which holds my Travel History to the republic, for personal reasons.

1. where do i get a police clearance in Nigeria besides the force headquarters, Is it compulsory...?
2. How long does a police clearance take to be processed...?
3. Is it possible to use multiple Business account statement which bears my Name....?

I hope to get some positive response from everyone.

Thanks
Only u can answer y you don't wanna put your old passport, I am sorry this sounds dodgy

Your point is that the general work permit is simply not possible with the documentations.
If i get you, there are three types of work permit:

1. Critical Skill Work Permit
2. General Work Permit
3. Intra-company Permit

How else can one get a permit to work?
Those are the 3 Work Permits I know

General Work Permit
No one will grant anyone general work permit, unless 1. You have an offer of a job. 2. You get a letter from dept of labour stating that you aren't taking a job of a SA citizen or a PR person. But dept of labour will never grant that letter it is rare. But if u have all these, then even if u are not on any visa, you can apply

Getting an asylum is immorally wrong when he is not a refugee really. It is an abuse of the system. As an asylum seeker, u can't leave SA for any reason, u can't get a good job, you are looked upon as a refugee.
