I disagree, Africa had written documents. What is left of our religions were passed down over generations, which I believe were documented, same with our history.

It might not be document outrightly, but they definitely had ways of preserving informations. Africans fought war amongst themselves before colonization and definitely would have had a mode of communication since it plays a vital role in warfare.
