honeric01: but youŕe sounding like someone with vested interest in this issue. Ignore if you can, not everything should be replied unless this topic concerns you alot. You`re the loudest so far on this thread imho.
No, she isn't, you just chose to notice her. It isn't everytime one ignores. Little extra energy can be expended on the silly uncouth animals roaming around nairaland as boys. She gave her opinion and the boys jumped at her.

I've personally noticed her on other threads and she's not the loud type, so if she chooses to respond to these peeps, its her choice.

@topic, let all men (most of whom are hypocrites) condemn extensions from now till forever, it still remains my choice to use them. God knows if I had a full hair and texture as smooth as all these foreign peeps, I'd never consider using extensions once in a while.

Appreciate being african my left toe.

HealthRe: Glaucoma Will Cause Blindness In 11.2m People By 2020 – Optometrist by StateOfMind: 11:34pm On Mar 13, 2013
aijaydiva: there are three things that confirm the diagnosis of glaucoma, viz, the intraocular pressure (IOP), the individual's visual field and the appearance of the optic nerve head (optic disc). Someone having just high IOP doesnt indicate glaucoma but that patient could be a glaucoma suspect.
Thanks for this piece of information. Now I know why the doctor said I'm a glaucoma suspect. I have high intraocular pressure, but he said my visual field is okay. Dunno about the optic nerve disc one sha.

The eye clinic that misdiagnosed me initially just concluded I had glaucoma cos I had high IOP without considering the two other things you mentioned above.
HealthRe: Glaucoma Will Cause Blindness In 11.2m People By 2020 – Optometrist by StateOfMind: 11:28pm On Mar 13, 2013
Otses: This is one scary disease. When I was misdiagnosed of it, I almost went crazy. As God would have it, I was certified okay after I went for the test. I stopped complaining of wearing glasses when the thought of blindness hit me. Indeed, you never know what you have until you lose it.
I was also misdiagnosed. I was using eyedrops and drugs for almost a year and when there was no improvement, I had to change my clinic.

The day I was re-diagnosed, I was very happy. I do have high intraocular pressure though, but not glaucoma and In as much as I hate using my glasses, I have become diligent with it so as to stop putting too much strain on my eyes.

I was told glaucoma could be hereditary, and since my late grandma had it before she died, infact she lost her left eye to glaucoma,it means I have a history already, so I don't miss my appointments for anything.
NYSCRe: Corper Decamped For Refusing To Wear Trousers by StateOfMind: 10:10am On Mar 13, 2013
Amodemaja: NYSC is mandatory if you are bellow thirty years of age, you don't expect someone with this type of faith to lie she is above 30 (when she is not)so that she could be exempted from service.Police and other paramilitary wear skirt. NYSC is not a full military outfit it is a paramilitary and corpers have been doing this before now and there has been no such thing. she is not going to be the first to do this. I served and I know what am talking about except the rules have been changed or it was not observed during me time. But if all other paramilitary allow it, it should not be a deal in NYSC
Which paramilitary allows skirts for women during their few months training in camp?

Just be specific cos I really want to learn..
NYSCRe: Corper Decamped For Refusing To Wear Trousers by StateOfMind: 9:58am On Mar 13, 2013
punche: I don't believe that 11pm story... Its a frame up. These guys r human and they won't do such.
I don't believe the time either, haba. Its probably just an exaggeration to gain more sympathy and attention from the public

First off, Lights out in most camps starts 10pm so I wonder how possible it is for them to have seen her and ordered her out of the camp at 11pm.

Secondly, the security of corpers is of great importance to camp officials. They are human sane beings and not animals, so I'm almost certain they wouldn't have ordered her out at that time.

@poster, the girl should have known better. To be honest, those that designed the uniforms knew what they were doing and to me trouser is best suited for camping, if you think otherwise, that's your opinion, just stated mine.

And to those who think by wearing trousers, NYSC is promoting indecency, WRONG! .NYSC actually gives out baggy and oversized trousers that will conceal even what a skirt cannot conceal. Let's stop deceiving ourselves, wearing baggy trouser in camp alone will not serve as your ticket to hell.

And if I may ask sef I hope she brought female jungle boots and face cap from home too.

Many 'holy' people have served before her, pastor's wife must have worn khaki too, so spare us the self-righteousness.

D sage: @ "don't say YES to just any man that come your way", I'm very sure this's why most of them are still singles and hopeless. Definitely, you're indirectly advising them to keep waiting for a perfect men even in their late 30's.

You also forgot the fact that many guys are jobless and the 75% of very few available jobs are giving to ladies. So,tell me how can a jobless man in his right sense get marry in such situation? Sorry,it's unfortunate that time is not on your side.
Here we go again. Do you have a problem with comprehension? How does 'don't say yes to any man that comes your way translate to 'be on the look out for a perfect man' . Will you as a man propose to any woman that comes your way?

Again what has this beautiful piece got to do with you being jobless bla bla..? I don't know where you got your statistics from but Please grow up and stop being insecure and intimidated by successful women.

Age is actually not on anybody's side, stop deceiving yourself.

@Op, your message is clear enough for those who want to get it. I enjoyed the piece and your style of writing. I also can reckon with most of the instances you gave because it is what is happening. The birthday paragraph made me chuckle with all the prayers from different aprokos, I have seen that happen a lot.

I'm quoting this piece to somewhere 'safe' where I can have access to it when I want and show people to read when need be, not because I'm in the character's situation, but because I'm in love with the article.

Are you in any way related to these ladies because To be candid none of them is pretty; the elder sis in particular is really far from pretty.

They are NOT pure nigerian queens.

Sisi_Kill: I'm sorry but there must be a mistake in the article. . .I think Samuel supposed to be Samuella - A Girl?

According to the wisemen on Nairaland, only Naija girls with their "chicken brains" are stupid enough to go meet people from facebook. Even when they were told what happened to Cynthia could happen to anyone, they refused to listen. . .so certain were they in their belief they were adamant that only Nigerian girls have no sense.

Maybe if more time was spent warning EVERYONE regardless of gender to be cautious instead of using the opportunity to bash Nigerian girls, Poor Samuel wouldn't have felt safe under the cloak of false invincibility ascribed to his gender and would have been more careful.

Well thank God, this had a happy ending. . .we all know it could have ended badly.

SO EVERYBODY BE CAREFUL. . .BE VERY CAREFUL!!!!
Hohohoho, you stole my thoughts. So far no one has said nigerian men are dumb or nigerian men have chicken brains and they won't learn. They all have just insulted the foolish victim not his gender. If it had been a lady ehn, the wise men would have flooded the thread insulting ALL nigerian girls as silly, greedy stubborn and never ready to learn as if this mumu boy dint just exhibit these same traits.

EVERYONE should be careful irrespective of gender or age. There are thousands of 'smarter' people out there that are ready to make one a victim.
RomanceRe: Why Are Corpers So Promiscuous...? by StateOfMind: 9:20pm On Mar 03, 2013
oldtime: someone’s daughter, someone's sister, and maybe someone’s wife someday, that is why most men have refused to marry them. It is so bad these days how ladies have become so cheap, when i was in the University we use to hear of Ladies that you can catch with "suya" some are cheap that you can get them to sleep with you after buying them Ice cream, others request for money to feed and they are ready to service your bed. The rate of promiscuity is alarming prostitution is committed in broad day light and there is no shame about it. they even assault the men with their attires, wearing all sorts of nude dresses to get attention . The only thing that can make a man marry these days is just because of what the ladies have to offer in terms of material gains or opportunity. As for morals, forget it, although some men also contribute to the rot, I am not an angel either, I have had my bad days And am still running from their traps. Men! Women are Two for five Naira
Women are two for five naira?

Your mum and future wife\sister = 2for 5naira shocked shocked shocked ... What a cheap family.. cry cry cry

@Op, not only corpers are promiscuous and not all corpers are promiscuous.

No be small thing o my brother, funny enough majority of them have mothers, wives and sisters that are addicted to home videos too...I wonder how they've been coping with these dull and low IQ people around them if that's what they think about those that watch these movies.

Nairaland men always looking forward to bashing ladies, ehn? I wonder how analysing football matches is IQ engaging

And even the so called foreign movies sef, do all of them make sense..mscheww

Ogbeche77: during your time, the nysc section was still in it toddler age, vert few threads from this section makes homepage, compared to now
I redeployed without thinking twice, though some nairalanders who I had contacted before embarking on my Katsina journey tried to convince me, but the north was not just for me.
I enjoyed the experience though, but I don't plan returning there in a longggggggggggg while. lol
How are you enjoying your service year, my senior corper?was at your ppa last weekend shaaaa
Yeah, I agree, the section is quite active now, kudos to you and crazyman..

And Did you just say you were at my ppa last weekend? Don't tell me we are presently in the same state..

Service is good btw, thanx..we are counting down next, lol.
NYSCRe: A Thread For Corpers Posted To (mallam sidi) Gombe State by StateOfMind: 9:30pm On Mar 02, 2013
greatgeo: What state where u redepoly to and on what ground, which bank dey dere sef.
Lol@ which bank dey there sef? Gombe aint that local na. I dint have a cause to use a bank throughout my stay but they sure have the popular banks over there.

I redeployed to Oyo state and in as much as I redeployed based on health ground (I took to camp a doctor's report from a government hospital), so many others were given the freedom to redeploy based on insecurity.

When we were being given redeployment forms to fill in camp, They initially said they would deny any redeployment based on insecurity (just health and marital grounds) but the DG came to visit us second week in camp and instructed the officials to grant anyone who wants to redeploy the freedom to go. More than half of us in camp eventually redeployed. LOL.

This was last year july, I'm not sure how it works now.
NYSCRe: A Thread For Corpers Posted To (mallam sidi) Gombe State by StateOfMind: 9:16pm On Mar 02, 2013
You can say that again, grin..I was in their shoes last year and It was just too much to take in for me coupled with the fact that gombe threads dont attract posters like some other popular states, I found it difficult to get answers.

At a point I thought I was the only one posted to that state but i eventually got more than enough info and the re-assurance I needed from 2 different nairalanders.

Most of my friends did not redeploy and tried to persuade me to stay, but I just couldn't.

And just like every other state, its the ppa and the town its situated that really matters, not the state in particular.
NYSCRe: A Thread For Corpers Posted To (mallam sidi) Gombe State by StateOfMind: 7:59pm On Mar 02, 2013
I used glo throughout my stay in camp, and it was okay. Had room mates that used mtn, so I think mtn is okay over there too...

Have a safe trip to malam sidi camp. Its quite comfortable I must add.

And by the way, I'm female..cheesy and I redeployed, so all I know about gombe is mallam sidi camp and the airport!

Pls I need help, how do I move frm lagos to gombe, our mai guard is just talking rubbish here, he said I will need to go to abuja/jos first before I can get a bus going to gombe....pls someone shld help me clarify, I no get d 45k wey arik dey ask for flight, by d way my pin is 21F2E740
Hehehe, my fellow diarylander is going to mallam sidi camp. Congrats! I went by air during my time, but most people that went by road got a bus to gombe straight from lagos and some 'broke' their journey by going to abuja first then boarded a cab from abuja, just as soyedamola said.

I'd advise you gather people around you to make the journey interesting. Most of them had so much fun and I wished I also went by road.
