I know a family that bought this type of burner. Twice, the hose caught fire when they wanted to turn it off after use. They later abandoned it.

Were they doing anything wrong? And is there anything they can do to stop the flame after turning it off? The fire comes from a small space under the burner close to the point where the hose is connected.
