Inside the world's biggest building: Amazing dome houses a shopping centre, Mediterranean villaÌge, water park, ice-skating rink, and multiple hotels (in China, where else?) Shopping, swimming, skating, sunbathing and sleeping are all activities on offer to visitors at the world's largest building. The New Century Global Center in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China is capable of fitting 20 Sydney Opera Houses - or three Pentagons - inside. Measuring a staggering 19million sq.ft. it contains shopping centres, a Mediterranean village, a water park, an ice-skating rink, and multiple hotels. However, visitors to the glass-panelled building need not worry about the weather as the giant complex has its own artificial sun. The building is 500 metres long, 400 metres wide and 100 metres high, reports said. According to Chinese officials, the New Century Global Center is the largest freestanding building in the world, and took three years to complete. ‘This is an ocean city built by man,’ Chinese guide Liu Xun told AFP. He added that the artificial sun built inside the building will provide light and heat 24 hours a day for shoppers exploring the around 400,000 sq. metres of boutiques and stores. The building sits directly opposite the Chengdu Contemporary Arts Centre, designed by British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, at the heart of a booming area of Chengdu. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2360182/Take-look-inside-worlds-biggest-building-Chinese-dome-houses-shopping-centre-Mediterranean-village-water-park--ice-skating-rink-multiple-hotels.html

16. The secret of stretching. When you stretch, ease your body into position until you feel the stretch and hold it for about 25 seconds. Breathe deeply to help your body move oxygen-rich blood to those sore muscles. Don’t bounce or force yourself into an uncomfortable position. 17. Cool off without a beer. Don’t eat carbohydrates for at least an hour after exercise. This will force your body to break down body fat, rather than using the food you ingest. Stick to fruit and fluids during that hour, but avoid beer. 18. Stop fuming. Don’t smoke and if you smoke already, do everything in your power to quit. Don’t buy into that my-granny-smoked-and-lived-to-be-90 crud – not even the tobacco giants believe it. Apart from the well-known risks of heart disease and cancer, orthopaedic surgeons have found that smoking accelerates bone density loss and constricts blood flow. So you could live to be a 90-year-old amputee who smells of stale tobacco smoke. Unsexy. 19. Ask about Mad Aunt Edith. Find out your family history. You need to know if there are any inherited diseases prowling your gene pool. According to the Mayo Clinic, USA, finding out what your grandparents died of can provide useful – even lifesaving – information about what’s in store for you. And be candid, not coy: 25 percent of the children of alcoholics become alcoholics themselves. 20. Do self-checks. Do regular self-examinations of your breasts. Most partners are more than happy to help, not just because breast cancer is the most common cancer among SA women. The best time to examine your breasts is in the week after your period. 21. My smear campaign. (For women) Have a pap smear once a year. Not on our list of favourite things, but it’s vital. Cervical cancer kills 200 000 women a year and it’s the most prevalent form of cancer among black women, affecting more than 30 percent. But the chances of survival are nearly 100 percent if it’s detected early. Be particularly careful if you became sexually active at an early age, have had multiple sex partners or smoke. 22. Beat the sneezes. There are more than 240 allergens, some rare and others very common. If you’re a sneezer due to pollen: close your car’s windows while driving, rather switch on the internal fan (drawing in air from the outside), and avoid being outdoors between 5am and 10 am when pollen counts are at their highest; stick to holidays in areas with low pollen counts, such as the seaside and stay away from freshly cut grass. 23. Laugh and cry. Having a good sob is reputed to be good for you. So is laughter, which has been shown to help heal bodies, as well as broken hearts. Studies in Japan indicate that laughter boosts the immune system and helps the body shake off allergic reactions. 24. It ain’t over till it’s over. End relationships that no longer work for you, as you could be spending time in a dead end. Rather head for more meaningful things. You could be missing opportunities while you’re stuck in a meaningless rut, trying to breathe life into something that is long gone. 25. Strong people go for help. Ask for assistance. Gnashing your teeth in the dark will not get you extra brownie points. It is a sign of strength to ask for assistance and people will respect you for it. If there is a relationship problem, the one who refuses to go for help is usually the one with whom the problem lies to begin with. 26. Save steamy scenes for the bedroom. Showering or bathing in water that’s too hot will dry out your skin and cause it to age prematurely. Warm water is much better. Apply moisturiser while your skin is still damp – it’ll be absorbed more easily. Adding a little olive oil to your bath with help keep your skin moisturised too. 27. Here’s the rub. Improve your circulation and help your lymph glands to drain by the way you towel off. Helping your lymph glands function can help prevent them becoming infected. When drying off your limbs and torso, brush towards the groin on your legs and towards the armpits on your upper body. You can do the same during gentle massage with your partner. 28. Sugar-coated. More than three million South Africans suffer from type 2 diabetes, and the incidence is increasing – with new patients getting younger. New studies show this type of diabetes is often part of a metabolic syndrome (X Syndrome), which includes high blood pressure and other risk factors for heart disease. More than 80 percent of type 2 diabetics die of heart disease, so make sure you control your glucose levels, and watch your blood pressure and cholesterol counts. 29. Relax, it’s only sex. Stress and sex make bad bedfellows, it seems. A US survey showed that stress, kids and work are main factors to dampen libido. With the advent of technology that allows us to work from home, the lines between our jobs and our personal lives have become blurred. People work longer hours, commutes are longer and work pervades all aspects of our lives, including our sexual relationships. Put nooky and intimacy on the agenda, just like everything else. 30. Good night, sweetheart. Rest heals the body and has been shown to lessen the risk of heart trouble and psychological problems. (Susan Erasmus, William Smook, Ilse Pauw, Health24, updated April 2011. We’ve done the legwork for you and here they are: the 30 best health tips. Make that 31 – taking the time to read this tops the list. 1. Copy your kitty: Learn to do stretching exercises when you wake up. It boosts circulation and digestion, and eases back pain. 2. Don’t skip breakfast. Studies show that eating a proper breakfast is one of the most positive things you can do if you are trying to lose weight. Breakfast skippers tend to gain weight. A balanced breakfast includes fresh fruit or fruit juice, a high-fibre breakfast cereal, low-fat milk or yoghurt, wholewheat toast, and a boiled egg. 3. Brush up on hygiene. Many people don’t know how to brush their teeth properly. Improper brushing can cause as much damage to the teeth and gums as not brushing at all. Lots of people don’t brush for long enough, don’t floss and don’t see a dentist regularly. Hold your toothbrush in the same way that would hold a pencil, and brush for at least two minutes. This includes brushing the teeth, the junction of the teeth and gums, the tongue and the roof of the mouth. And you don’t need a fancy, angled toothbrush – just a sturdy, soft-bristled one that you replace each month. 4. Get what you give! Always giving and never taking? This is the short road to compassion fatigue. Give to yourself and receive from others, otherwise you’ll get to a point where you have nothing left to give. And hey, if you can’t receive from others, how can you expect them to recceive from you? 5. Get smelly. Garlic, onions, spring onions and leeks all contain stuff that’s good for you. A study at the Child’s Health Institute in Cape Town found that eating raw garlic helped fight serious childhood infections. Heat destroys these properties, so eat yours raw, wash it down with fruit juice or, if you’re a sissy, have it in tablet form. 6. Knock one back. A glass of red wine a day is good for you. A number of studies have found this, but a recent one found that the polyphenols (a type of antioxidant) in green tea, red wine and olives may also help protect you against breast cancer. It’s thought that the antioxidants help protect you from environmental carcinogens such as passive tobacco smoke. 7. Bone up daily. Get your daily calcium by popping a tab, chugging milk or eating yoghurt. It’ll keep your bones strong. Remember that your bone density declines after the age of 30. You need at least 200 milligrams daily, which you should combine with magnesium, or it simply won’t be absorbed. 8. Berries for your belly. Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries contain plant nutrients known as anthocyanidins, which are powerful antioxidants. Blueberries rival grapes in concentrations of resveratrol – the antioxidant compound found in red wine that has assumed near mythological proportions. Resveratrol is believed to help protect against heart disease and cancer. 9. I say tomato. Tomato is a superstar in the fruit and veggie pantheon. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a powerful cancer fighter. They’re also rich in vitamin C. The good news is that cooked tomatoes are also nutritious, so use them in pasta, soups and casseroles, as well as in salads. The British Thoracic Society says that tomatoes and apples can reduce your risk of asthma and chronic lung diseases. Both contain the antioxidant quercetin. To enjoy the benefits, eat five apples a week or a tomato every other day. 10. Eat your stress away. Prevent low blood sugar as it stresses you out. Eat regular and small healthy meals and keep fruit and veggies handy. Herbal teas will also soothe your frazzled nerves. Eating unrefined carbohydrates, nuts and bananas boosts the formation of serotonin, another feel-good drug. Small amounts of protein containing the amino acid tryptamine can give you a boost when stress tires you out. 11. Load up on vitamin C. We need at least 90 mg of vitamin C per day and the best way to get this is by eating at least five servings of fresh fruit and vegetables every day. So hit the oranges and guavas! 12. No folly in folic acid. Folic acid should be taken regularly by all pregnant mums and people with a low immunity to disease. Folic acid prevents spina bifida in unborn babies and can play a role in cancer prevention. It is found in green leafy vegetables, liver, fruit and bran. 13. A for Away. This vitamin, and beta carotene, help to boost immunity against disease. It also assists in the healing process of diseases such as measles and is recommended by the WHO. Good natural sources of vitamin A are kidneys, liver, dairy products, green and yellow vegetables, pawpaw, mangoes, chilli pepper, red sorrel and red palm oil. 14. Pure water. Don’t have soft drinks or energy drinks while you’re exercising. Stay properly hydrated by drinking enough water during your workout (just don’t overdo things, as drinking too much water can also be dangerous). While you might need energy drinks for long-distance running, in shorter exercise sessions in the gym, your body will burn the glucose from the soft drink first, before starting to burn body fat. Same goes for eating sweets. 15. Mindful living. You’ve probably heard the old adage that life’s too short to stuff a mushroom. But perhaps you should consider the opposite: that life’s simply too short NOT to focus on the simple tasks. By slowing down and concentrating on basic things, you’ll clear your mind of everything that worries you. Really concentrate on sensations and experiences again: observe the rough texture of a strawberry’s skin as you touch it, and taste the sweet-sour juice as you bite into the fruit; when your partner strokes your hand, pay careful attention to the sensation on your skin; and learn to really focus on simple tasks while doing them, whether it’s flowering plants or ironing your clothes. |
Strike: ASUU Hails Legislators For Intervention, Looks Forward To Positive Outcome The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), on Wednesday hailed the Senate Committee on Education for its role in trying to resolve the face-off between the union and the Federal Government. The National President of the union, Dr Nasir Fagge, made the commendation in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Lagos. ASUU had on July 1, embarked on an indefinite strike over the non-implementation of some issues contained in an agreement it entered into with the Federal government in 2009. One week into the strike, the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayatu Rufai, appealed to the striking lecturers to reconsider their stand and go back to work, pending the resolution of issues involved. The Senate Committee on Education also called ASUU for a meeting on Tuesday, towards a resolution of the issues--but it could not hold. Fagge told NAN:``I sincerely want to appreciate the efforts of the National Assembly in its role at ensuring that it gets the executive arm of government to do what it is supposed to do on this issue. Our meeting with the Senate Committee on Education that was slated for Tuesday July 9, could not hold because of some pressing issues that needed urgent attention. The meeting has now been moved to Monday, July 15, when we are expected to deliberate on several issues that are related to the general development of the sector''. Fagge said he looked forward to the meeting with the legislators and hoped it would help in resolving the issues which led to the strike. I am confident that the National Assembly will seize this opportunity in prevailing on the executive to do what they are supposed to do so. ``I hope that at the end of the deliberation, we would have cause to be happy and get ourselves back to work. http://m.naij.com/news/39762.html |
kaboninc: My dear, its not a Nigerian mentality neither is it a white man's mentality. Its a human issue. We are only different from the goats and pigs only because of how we reason. No woman would want to be with a man who has no money simple. No matter how you twist it. Especially when they are just getting to know themselves.Na wa oo |

Wedding planning is a pretty lengthy process with all sorts of important details that must be considered and even more must do’s. While you’ll need to find a caterer for your wedding, as well as a venue, and nominate bridesmaids, there’s a lot more that must be considered and figured out before the big day. Because even though you’re planning for a ceremony, you’ll also need to be planning for a lifetime. Here are 12 things you should do before the wedding in order to make your future with your new husband amazing. 1. Finances Right now it’s likely that you two have separate bank accounts. Before the wedding, you’ll want to decide how you will go about handling your finances. Will you to have one bank account together? Will you keep separate individual accounts but also have a joint account? Finances should definitely be planned out pre-wedding, that way when names are changed, you two can get the ball rolling with bank accounts and such. 2. Living together If you two aren’t already living together, you’ll want to figure out what you’ll do about co-habitating once you’ve gotten married. Will you move into his house or vice versa? Will you two buy a home together? These are pretty important details to figure out beforehand. 3. Wedding expenses Of course, your wedding expenses will need to be handled before you ever say your “I dos.” Figure out who will be paying for what. Will you be splitting the entire wedding? Are your families helping in any way? Figure this all out to hopefully eliminate wedding financial issues. 4. Family planning By the time the word marriage slips into the picture, hopefully you two know whether or not you will be having children in the future. However, to take things a step further, before getting married, try to figure out when you’ll start trying to conceive. Will it be the night of the wedding? When you two have a house together? This is all pretty important. 5. Spend time with each others’ family Before the wedding it’s always nice to spend time with each others’ family. Have dinner together or go to the theater to see a recently released movie. It’s always nice to hang out with each others’ family since it will allow everyone to grow together and bond. Bonding is important for a healthy and strong familial relationship. 6. Talk about your dreams While he probably knows a lot of your dreams already and you hopefully know plenty of his, focus on dreams that the two of you can accomplish together. Where would you love to live? Is there anywhere you are dying to travel together? Any new hobbies that you two would love to pursue? These are all good things to know before the walk down the aisle. 7. Consider premarital counseling Premarital counseling can be a life saver for some marriages. Being able to talk to someone who is completely neutral to your relationship can really make things a lot less troublesome in the future. If you have issues that need to be worked out or if there are some inner problems that you or your partner have, counseling is the best time to talk about them. 8. Go on fun dates Wedding planning can be stressful for the both of you. Spending so much money and having to make so many different decisions is definitely stressful, to say the least. To relieve some of this pressure, go out on fun dates. These dates are also a good way to re-connect and to keep the fire in your relationship burning. 9. Figure out the name change Though it seems like an obvious answer, there isn’t just one option when it comes to changing names. While most women drop their surname and take on their husband’s, others do things a bit differently, such as moving their surname to their middle name and then using their husband’s last name. Others prefer to keep their surname and just hyphenate their new one. 10. Celebrations and special occasions This may seem silly, but not setting the standards for celebrating special days, such as Valentine’s Day and birthdays, can really put a damper on a relationship. Before you make your way down the aisle, make sure the two of you agree on how special days will be celebrated, if they will at all. This way the expectations are already set in stone. 11. Spend time with friends Just like your family, your friends will also play an important role once the two of you are married. Hang out with your friends alone and your man hang out with his. At the same time, be sure to hang out in groups and really spend some time getting to know each other. Your friends will be an important part of the foundation of your relationship. 12. Get rid of unwanted items Everyone is known to hold onto some items that they’ve received from past relationships. Sometimes they’re shoved in boxes and forgotten about. If you have any items from the past that you know you no longer need anymore, get rid of them. It’s nice to get rid of any material baggage before getting married. That way the both of you start with a blank slate. |

When it comes to dating, the odds are often stacked against you. Luckily, there's a lot you can do to even them and give yourself an edge. Be proactive and follow these 10 steps to make yourself more attractive to women. 1. Be a Gentleman Make no mistake - it's still important to be a gentleman. Chivalry is not dead; it's just on life support, with a few broken ribs and a bruised ego. But if you want to stand out to women and gain a good reputation in the process, there's no better way than by being a gentleman. 2. Get a Girl Interested in You Unfortunately, it takes more than a little manscaping and a lack of man boobs to pique a girl's interest. Think of those things as a way to get in the door. If you really want to seal the deal and get her number, you're going to need to impress, and that involves being funny. Leave the "knock, knock" jokes behind. 3. Learn to Read Her Signals We are animals, and even though we've evolved to use complex language to express ourselves, we still communicate non-verbally. In fact, it's easy to tell a lie with your words; it's much harder to make your body language lie. Learn to read her signals to know when she's interested (and when she isn't), and you'll have a much easier time navigating the dating world. 4. Use Food to Increase Your Libido Your diet is important, and not just because it impacts your waist size. Eating the right foods can improve your sexual health and give you back the libido you had when you were a teenager. And if that's not a reason to ditch the fast food and start preparing your own meals, you need more help than we can give you. 5. The Art of Saying 'No' A real man doesn't need to bend over backward to please everyone. He values his time and prioritizes accordingly. Inevitably, that means saying no - to dates, job offers, work requests, whatever. The thing is, most men suck at this. They hem and haw, they break out in a cold sweat, but when push comes to shove, they fold like a lawn chair and put someone else's needs ahead of their own. Stop it! Stop it right now! 6. Don't Be Creepy In all fairness, most men are not creepy, and most of the men who get labeled "creepy" are just not very good at approaching women. See a girl running alone at night with headphones on? Don't run up behind her and tap her on the shoulder. 7. Manscape What you do with your pubic hair is between you and god, but manscaping isn't limited to your nether regions. Unsightly hairs on your back, shoulders, stomach and neck should be waxed off without second thoughts. 8. Dress for Your Body Type Another no-brainer. Dressing for your body type doesn't just mean wearing clothes that fit - although that's a good place to start. It also means accentuating your positive attributes and taking the focus away from your negative ones 9. Take Care of Your Skin For a minimal investment of time and money, you can have your skin looking better than ever - smooth, blemish-free and moisturized. What excuse do you have? Taking care of the basics is the first step in looking more attractive. 10. Lose Your Man Boobs This really needs no explanation. Man boobs are the source of men's greatest body insecurity, and getting rid of them can be tricky. SOURCE |
Joke of the century! A corrupted Nation paid 2 fight corruption. Who will be championing the fight? Ans: another corrupt man, i weep for Nigeria, anoda farouk lawan is about 2 surface. |
Yield: Arguments can be healthy for relationships and can strengthen them. I think it's okay to have disagreements.†нªηкs! 4 ur suggestion, but seriously i think using argument will change d concept of the topic, i meant fight as in quarrel definately not physical combat, heated arguements inclusive, guess i'll av 2 modify my original post 2 make it more clearer |
I feel deeply sorry for you, and no one here really understands what you are goin thru better than you do, its like being on a cross road and you don't know which way 2 go. I imagine you having the tot of you living d rest of your life this way, especially considering the fact that you married a virgin..it must be very painful. I couldn't but agree with my stance and majority of other posters stance on the thread earlier quoted, you said after ur wedding you saw d testicles and asked him (can't really recall au u typed that part) but my point is had it been you'd test drived, we are not saying aving d real sex, you would av noticed what you noticed after d wedding earlier thereby prompting questions and mayb he would av opened up then, who knows No mata what, i see this as wickedness, deceit of d highest order, and 4rm ur subsequent posts the man is not worth it, not even his family. Ivf, sperm donor, adoption is not an option, you deserve 2 have ur own children, lyk you said, children with your nose type.. Children you can be proud of..but seriously speaking divorce is not really a good option 2 me, aldo mayb the best option you have now, many will disagree on this but marriage is a covenant 4 beta 4 worse, its rilly complicated All i can say is may God give you wisdom 2 handle dis situation, let him direct you and he will surely seee you thru, and please stop crying, try 2 worry less cos of ur health, also be strong, you are a superwoman, and who knows a miracle can happen, dia are some whose partner are fertile and after dia honeymoon, they had an accident as a result d man cannot perform again, and pls weigh ur pros and cons before making a decision cos ur nxt decision will make or mar you and ur future, we can't decide 4 u, only you can decide 4 ur self. I wish you the best and a divine solution 2 ur present situation. |
Nice contributions by jarus, infact u've made dis thread more interesting, but as a matter of fact the opportunities people have dis dayz is very minute, competition is more stiffer diz dayz, so hardly will you see anyone not 4rm a well known family making it dis dayz, all dos refernces are in the past, it reminds me of when internet first came 2 Nigeria, few were enlightened then, and some used d opportunity 2 set a beta future 4 themselves e.g linda ikeji, seun... Just imagine any1 trying 2 replicate them now dat person won't garner d same success as dey did except the person is highly innovative. As regards d post, 2 make it young you need INFORMATION, dats the first key, explore fields that are yet 2 b invested, and target d ones likely 2 become a major hit, also av gr8 ideas and take risks, facebook was someone's idea so was youtube, dats why i like d boy who was d brain bhind tumblr, before it was being sold 2 google, he tot (my own assumption) youtube is a collection of videos and it became a major hit, why not start something similar not videos dis time around but pictures..d rest is history. I have so much 2 say but i'll av 2 stop hia 4 naw. Btw, i think we need more topics 4rm d career section on homepage, tis bin a yl since a topic 4rm dia made d FP and i doubt if it would av if not dat d OP insisted, NL forum should not be all about celebrities, news et al. We need motivational, inspirational posts 2 |
pDude: Please someone should summarize the story. I can't read all that shytLazy bone ![]() |
lefulefu: Op u no add if she put on excess weightGood point, but it is different tastes 4 different folks, i know of a guy that loves fat girls, some like skinny women, some like them moderate in weight, aldo i think most men do not like women with excess weight, just like you just said which i personally agree with and btw, i wasn't the one who composed it, but i agree with you |
