A double amputee had the confidence to wear a dress for the first time on her wedding day - due to her new state-of-the-art legs.

Katarina Floridia, 27, from Ashland, Massachusetts, had always been embarrassed about her legs, covering them even on sweltering hot beach days.

But thanks to her new legs - from A Step Ahead Prosthetics, which match her skin color and accommodate heels, Katarina was able to make her dream come true by walking down the aisle in confidence with her father on her arm and marrying fiance Andrew Pfeffer. Katarina said: 'It made the beautiful bride that I have always hoped and dreamt of being - I was a princess bride that could finally see her toes.

'Walking down the aisle was the most emotionally moment of my life. I felt that my self-esteem and self-confidence returned after it had being damaged my whole life - I never felt so beautiful, confident or strong.'

Katarina, a congenital bilateral amputee, has had to wear prosthetics her whole life, having been adopted from Moscow, Russia, when she was 18 months old, and moving to the United States.

When she was born, bands formed in her amniotic fluid, restricting the growth of her legs. Over the years, Katarina said, she has had a difficult relationship with prosthetics - from having the confidence to wear previous models out in public, to experiencing the cost of healthcare related to her condition.

Every mom does what she can to keep her kids safe no matter what. That means making sure they’re safely buckled up when they get in the car even when they aren’t riding with her.

Louisiana mother Holly Wagner was no exception to this rule. She always tried to make sure her two boys, 3 years old and 11 months old, stayed safe wherever they were going.

Then her worst nightmare began.One night, she received a call from the police. Her boyfriend and two sons had been in a serious car accident after her boyfriend had run a stop sign. While her then-boyfriend and oldest son had broken bones and sustained internal damage, that was nothing compared to what had happened to baby Cameron.

The car seat that Wagner thought would keep him safe had failed, and the force of the crash had thrown this toddler through the windshield into a ditch by the side of the road. As Wagner wrote on her blog: “he was resuscitated and spent 16 days in ICU. 8 surgeries in the first three days… his brain was damaged beyond repair. It would not allow his body to absorb any nutrients and my child was starving himself to death.”

Cameron passed away and Wagner began searching for answers as to why his car seat had failed. The key was in a picture she had posted just three weeks earlier of Cameron. The photo showed two massive red flags. As she captioned it: “Cameron all buckled in the WRONG way! ( He should be rear facing and the straps should not be twisted.)”As the days went on, what bothered Wagner the most was that the information was out there about the dangers of forward-facing car seats for infants, but she had never been told about it. “No one said anything. I wish someone had corrected me and told me he wasn’t restrained properly,” she told Redbook.

While she understands that parents are hesitant to approach other parents when they see something incorrect for fear of seeming strange or butting in, she believes things like car seat position are too important not to mention.

Ugandans are mourning the passing of a musician and blogger who was reportedly abducted and subjected to torture by suspected state agents.

Ziggy Wine, real name Michael Kalinda, was signed onto Firebase Entertainment – the record label of Bobi Wine – Afro-pop artiste and lawmaker.

Reports indicate that when he was retrieved after the abduction, he had one eye plucked out and two of his fingers severed.After a week in abduction, he was later dumped at the Mulago hospital gate, where he was found unconscious and taken to the casualty section. His body bore several burns allegedly inflicted by flat iron, reports indicated.

Tanzania has laid to rest most of the people who died while trying to collect leaking petrol from an overturned fuel tanker that exploded.

According to Mail Online, Ayinde, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, United States, was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Friday after being found guilty in the second of five expected trials in which he is accused of repeatedly raping his six daughters, resulting in six children being fathered.

A SEARCH team hunting for the body of Cambridge University student Alana Cutland, who fell from a light aircraft while flying over Madagascar, believe they have found her body.

Army, police and villagers have been looking for the 19-year-old since she fell out of a light aircraft above the Indian Ocean island on July 25.

Local police claim her body was found by a local tribe as part of a huge search effort.

The find comes just days after officials in Madagascar accused British authorities of not funding or offering any help.

Ms Cutland, who had just started an independent research trip in the country, suffered severe paranoia and delusions before the fall on July 25 - possibly caused by anti-malaria medication.She fell into remote uninhabitable savanna full of swamps, rivers and carnivorous wildlife.

Local villagers helping with the search said they had finally found what they think is Alana's body.

"They have found a human body north of the site where she fell," Police chief Spinola Nomenjanahary confirmed.

BODY FOUND IN JUNGLE

Chief Nomenjanahary said the body was recognised by the "hair, shoes and clothes".

"Villagers wrapped it in a sheet of plastic and have started carrying it back to the village," he said.

"It will be flown by helicopter to the capital tomorrow. The British embassy have already been informed."

Madagascan police have confirmed toxicology tests will be carried out on the body when it returns to the capital. They hope to confirm exactly what medication Alana might have had in her system - including anti-malaria drugs.

A part-time model and mother has been convicted of killing her two young children because they got in the way of her sex work.

A boy in India who had a swollen jaw had 526 'teeth' removed from his mouth.

The seven-year-old, named by local media only as Ravindranath, was taken to the nearest hospital with a swollen jaw.

Scans supposedly showed hundreds of masses on the lower, right side of his jaw, prompting doctors to opt for surgery.Medics removed 526 denticles - abnormal teeth-like growths from Ravindranath's mouth. They were all encased in a tumour.

The five-hour procedure was carried out by surgeons at Chennai's Saveetha Dental College and Hospital.

'We opened up the jaw after administering general anaesthesia and saw a sack inside it,' said Dr Senthilnathan, who led the operation.

'The sack, weighing about 200g, was carefully removed.' The surgeon, whose first name is unknown, said the denticles were of different sizes.

It is learned that it led to an argument between them as he told her he didn’t want her to do that. Hope recalls telling the father of her children on his sickbed:nd by September 2017, he was told his kidney function had fallen to just 8%.“I’m going to get tested for a transplant. “He said to me, ‘I can’t ask you to do that’. But I told him, ‘It’s not up to you. It’s my decision. I know what the risks are and I’m doing it. Even though we weren’t together any more, I wasn’t prepared to let my children be without a father.”

There was a snag after Kelly offered to donate her kidney, tests showed she was a good tissue match, but their blood didn’t match. After considering the risks, they decided on a blood-incompatible transplant which involves removing antibodies from the blood to prevent rejection. The operation was a success, and Pyatt was discharged just five days later.

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MOGCSP), Mrs Cynthia Morrison has revealed that about 895 victims of human trafficking have been rescued since 2017 by the ministry in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service and the Economic and Organised Crime Organization (EOCO)

Addressing a programme in Accra covered by MyNewsGh.com, she described the figures as encouraging compared to those of previous years but added that her outfit would intensify efforts to combat human trafficking across the country.
She explained that the efforts were necessary since perpetrators were now using all strategies to maintain their grip on the trade through various means.

Tunisia’s 92-year-old president, Beji Caid Essebsi, has died, the presidency said in a statement published on their official Facebook account on Thursday.

Essebsi, was reportedly suffering from the effects of his previous health scare, which saw him spend a week in hospital in late June over a "severe health crisis".

He has only appeared in public twice since leaving the hospital for the first time at the beginning of July.

Essebsi has been a prominent figure in Tunisia since the overthrow of veteran autocrat Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011, which was followed by uprisings against authoritarian leaders across the Middle East, including in nearby Libya and Egypt.

The 10-year old r.ape allegation against Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo in Las Vegas cannot be proven beyond reasonable doubt, prosecutors said on Monday.

Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest soccer players of all time and plays for the Italian club Juventus, has maintained he is innocent.Kathryn Mayorga filed a civil lawsuit in September 2018 in state court in Nevada accusing the athlete of r.aping her in a Las Vegas hotel penthouse suite in 2009, then paying her $375,000 in hush money.

A woman called Las Vegas police on June 13, 2009 to report that she had been s.exually assaulted and police took her to the hospital for an examination, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement on Monday. She declined to identify the person who she said assaulted her.The statement did not identify the woman, but Mayorga’s civil lawsuit mirrors the allegation outlined by prosecutors.

Mayorga and Ronaldo reached a civil settlement in 2010 and law enforcement did not hear again from her until Aug. 28, 2018, when she asked police to reopen the investigation. She said Ronaldo was the person who s.exually assaulted her, prosecutors said.

Las Vegas police on July 8 asked the Clark County District Attorney’s Office to prosecute the case.

According to my fellow Adventists I have engaged over the development at our Church, almost all of them are scared with the constant fundraising(s), promotions, several weeks of prayer that comes at a cost, registration and insurance fee for music competition and transport for such events yet no devolve funds back to local Churches…a number are saying, that today if you go to any local SDA Church you will be scared by the high money demand.That they have even devised a method of coercing parents to call their working sons and daughters to send them camp meeting fee(pesa ya makambi/mich kiche) and other Church bills. I remember how Church pastor somewhere kept threatening members to give tithes and offerings failure to which he would promise them bad things. Many of our members are not attending Church services today on this account.By the way, those monies raised in Church through harambees, promotions such as the camp meeting goal(fee) for every Church should be devolved back to those churches to spur development but they carry everything.

The Nigerian government has warned that there could be dire consequences if its citizens in Ghana are ill-treated.

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said Nigerians in other African states deserve to be respected.

She warned that the continent would suffer should Nigeria also decide to treat other nationals in the same manner.

She also lamented the generalization of criminal issues when it involves Nigerian nationals."If a Nigerian commits a crime, you should deal with that particular person rather than generalize issues by punishing those who are innocent of the crime,” Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said.

According to her, 994 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana through the land borders in the last 18 months. She made the revelation when she met Nigerian professor, Augustine Nwagbara, who was recently sacked by the University of Education, Winneba, for inciting other Nigerian nationals. Ghanaians and Nigerians have peacefully coexisted for the better part of the last three decades, but that understanding appears to be under threat.

In June, some Ghanaians forcefully ordered the closure of shops operated by Nigerian traders at Suame Magazine.

This followed a spate of crimes and kidnappings in which the suspects have been identified as being Nigerians.The biggest case remains the kidnapping of three teenage girls in Takoradi in November 2018.

All three are yet to be found, although the prime suspect, identified as a Nigerian national Samuel Wilson Udoetuk, has been apprehended by the police.

In a separate case, six suspects were arrested by the police in connection with the kidnapping of two Canadian girls in Kumasi.

“We are all doing creative work so you can’t have a bad mouth and body odor and come closer to me. It’s my health so I won’t do it, I will prompt the director and tell him I have a bleeding gum. I did it to some girl on set.

Her mouth was smelling so bad like manhole and told the director that I won’t kiss her. It was smelling so bad. I got close to her during the rehearsal and her breathe alone was so bad so I decided not to kiss her”,Prince David Osei revealed.
