Have u visited a busy phone repair shop
Have you visited the not busy phone repair shop? Everywhere cannot be "computer village"....each one has their pros and cons, you don't know ops present financial needs nor whether he is already proficient in phone repairs...

Wrong way to evaluate a business.

Okada: Start making money on Day 1 but has vagaries. Occupational hazards, touts and immense competition but you are always flexible with working times and locations. Good if you're a field person.

Phone repair: Takes time to develop and business revenue is not a daily constant except you're located at a phone sales and repair hub. Less risk and opportunities for expansion through vertical and horizontal integration.

Drawbacks include less flexible locations, competition depending on location and really leans on your technical skills.

Pick your poison.
Verbosity doesn't always mean communication. What did you say here that wasn't covered in my comment?
CareerRe: Commercial Okada Rider Or Phone Engineer? by Stephen0mozzy: 6:18pm On Jun 04, 2022
Commercial Okada is more lucrative than Phone Repairs.

People move everyday, but not everyone spends money on phone repairs everyday.

Okada has more safety risk though.

You should consider other physical and environmental factors before making a choice though.....

Then there's the learning curve.. Or are you already good with phone repairs? I mean hardware and software issues
CareerRe: Adulthood Na Scam!!! What's Your Take On This? by Stephen0mozzy: 8:23pm On Jun 03, 2022
Seems some of you have not understood the idea behind the song....

Growing up as kids, many of us had this impression that "growing up comes with so much freedom, independence and an opportunity to do and undo as we please". Growing up from that stage of CHILDHOOD (Toddler to early teens), we realize then than with all the freedom we had imagine also comes the responsibilities needed to earn it.

Nobody go dash you free money - A child is always excited when visited by an Uncle or Aunt because you'll likely be gifted some cash gifts to buy all that matters to you in the world - which at that time was sweets, biscuits and toys; but if an Uncle or Aunt visits you now as an adult, be ready to spend too.

.....so it's not that we were lied to, "It's the fairytale world about being an adult which we grow up with as babies, that is the scam"

Thanksful:
As an adult no be those kind ads dey get your attention. Any person wey you like. Any where you hear his or her voice. You must pause to see wetin him dey talk. Nah the wisdom. Any time I see Davido on billboard I take second look. I may not be a customer but I learn one or too about the brand because of him. Recommendation from me may get them a customer.

Some of these things are professional that makes no common sense.

For instance, you remember the era of Huspuppy? That is what ushered in branded wears into Nigeria on a different level.

The influence, affluence, association etc
Such things as branded wears will sell regardless of whether a celebrity or influential person wears it.. If people perceive the luxury or class having it potrays, they'll buy it whether a celeb uses it or not...

...btw, they hope the endorsement will translate to REAL DEALS/CONVERSIONS....not just grabbing your attention. If you have an option to buy an iPhone or a Davido-branded infinix phone, which will you go for?

Guess what, iPhone dont got no Nigerian celeb.... Value or perceived value sells better than endorsement deals

And oh.. Even as an adult, weird still catches your attention....

An advert with your celebrity crush and a plain one, which would you spend more time watching?

Nah professional OT
They're using them celebrities as an excuse for the lack of creativity in cooking up the adverts? Do you still remember the ONGA advert? More than 8-10 yrs and it still rings in memory..... The idea of an advert is that it leaves an impression about the brand for the viewers.

They can easily see the faces of the celebrities on music videos..
CelebritiesRe: Have You Ever Patronised A Brand Because Of Its Brand Ambassador? by Stephen0mozzy:
Lol....I think they overthink the influence of them celebrities. If they put a survey/questionnaire, along with their products/services, they'd realize how much they're losing. They'll fare better using that money to organize REAL RAFFLE DRAW that customers can truly win from. Not these scam SAVE AND WIN; BUY AND WIN BS they do.

The rich guys don't give an F;
The poor guys are hating on them and likely don't give an E, let alone an F

.....but then again; they have a marketing team that feels it's working for them

Thanks for your reply, but the thing is I'm 22 this year and have kind of saved 150 000 naira so far and I feel like I'm wasting my time doing this work.
That's good..being able to have saved that amount. School is never too late, what matters is that you try to keep your self educated while pursuing other enterprise.

You have not answered whether you can get little financial support from family/friends.

If the answer is yes, then you can actually do both the mechanical training and NOUN..... i started my own journey with NOUN (quarter of a dozen more than 22) while working and other side stuff... So you can also get trained and school if you have financial aid.

Whichever one you choose, try to give your best.. You know what is at stake
CareerRe: Help Me Make A Decision. by Stephen0mozzy: 7:47pm On May 21, 2022
Truth is, NOUN is expensive o.... And it's not something you should undertake without financial support.

Learn the skill.. And later you can always take up the degree when you're financially stable. But make sure you save up some monies before stopping... Being broke can affect determination

BusinessRe: Business Idea? Anyone Care To Help? by Stephen0mozzy: 12:21pm On May 15, 2022
Starting a business that you have no skill of management for or experience to execute the daily plus and minuses will surely not be able to to give you that much... Unless you're approaching a HIGH-RISK buy and sell.

The above is not to discourage you... But does your friend have some ideas already, or he's a blank slate? Hoping to pick one that looks good from this thread?

Would this particular function be part of the job advert??

Lastlook:
Questions
How to get Workers from the same field in the same region and how to go about interviewing them, to know, if you are up for the work, even if you are less experienced but ready to learn.

Which of this will be more effective? placing an ads on Facebook or Nairaland for workers?
You can run ads on Facebook - very targeted ads sha (You already know this sef as the Digital Marketing Guy grin) - I'll advise you also throw your net open on nairaland threads - Career and Job sections (No need to pay for ads (seun no vex o lol) - but a thread will sort of create a community where you can just hold some mock personality assessment (possibly even look thru the profile and past comments to know the kind of person each applicant is - not the pretend we all do during interviews)

You can then reach out to people who you can then discuss their portfolios (everyone lies on CV).

For graphics designers you can search for NAIJA GRAPHICS DESIGNERS on facebook and contact anyone whose posts about their works catch your fancy.. Or even post the ad description and plead with the admin to approve.

About interviewing processes

First of all, your job description before and during interview should be very honest and straight to the point - I've come across some with too many fancy English hat can be seen first hand as copy and paste from foreign companies.... Envision all the responsibilities for each position in clear terms -

But how you should access a candidate... I'm not sure sha.. But don't hire anyone who thinks THEY'RE TOO GOOD for your business.

...the statement is so correct sadly most of us on one side of the extreme feel we will live forever while those on the other end live with a defeatist mentality and don't even put effort into enjoying life
CareerRe: I'm Starting A Mini Digital Marketing Company, I Need Advice On Salary, Workers by Stephen0mozzy: 3:01pm On May 07, 2022
May the universe bless your startup with good and productive staff.

I think you should research the current pay scale for the various existing job positions in companies offering the same services as you.

Also, I'm sure you've drawn up a business plan to project possible revenues on a bad quarter and possible revenues on a very good quarter.

If you can't presently afford the services of a cleaner, you can throw in a little something after discussion with your customer care person to clean the general area, while the other staff clean up their personal space.

About how you should behave, just be kind... Set up a reward system for good work (not favouritism) - try to understand why a person may be failing in their duties via a conversation rather than a confrontation. Don't laugh around in trivia talks within the office... But you can be jovial in discussing clients briefs and all that... Allow them space and opportunity to bring their best to the office... Don't try to overly micromanage.
