presence in lecture halls by their
ostentatious display of wealth. While other
students are seated in old rickety chairs in
lecture theatres, they swim in luxury in high-
brow hostels off campus. They live like
kings and queens in their secret palace of
love, spending in a day the income that is
above the monthly earning of their parents
or guardians.

Most of them, especially ladies, live for their
partner. They wash the man’s clothes, clean
the room and spend quality time cooking
delicious meals, such that an onlooker
might think they are married. The fact is that
they might be single at home, but on
campus, they are married. They live in a
love nest with the lucky guy for as long as
four years.

Cohabitation, a phenomenon where two
young unmarried people live together under
the same roof, is a common trend on
campus. It is not uncommon to find male
and female students living under one roof as
couples without the consent of their parents.
The habit, termed ‘campus couple’, has
gained grounds especially in off-campus
residence.

Many students,
said cohabitation enables two students in
love to determine their compatibility status,
as they get to study themselves before
marriage. The male student assumes the
role of a husband and the lady takes up the
role of a wife. Neighbours know both of
them, as they are often seen going out
together. For these campus couples, exam
period is the only time that reminds them of
academic work, as they spend a better part
of the semester practising family life.

Investigation revealed that
these students go for off campus residence
for some reasons, ranging from poor
sanitary conditions of halls of residence,
inability to secure accommodation on
campus and overcrowding. It was
discovered that students cohabit for
economic and financial reasons.

David Odia, a student of the Federal
Polytechnic Auchi (Auchi Poly), defended the
practice, saying that cohabitation unites
future partners. “It is very romantic to live
together as husband and wife, doing things
in common, taking collective decision as a
family. In fact, the period prepares one for
family life. This has helped many
undergraduates to discover their spouses to
which they are happily married today,” he
argued.

Narrating her ordeal to Campus Sun , Amaka
Okoro (not real name), an undergraduate of a
federal university, said her inability to secure
accommodation on campus made her to
cohabit with a guy she met during her
departmental week activities. “Ever since I
came here, I am more or less a mother. I do
all the washing, cooking and domestic work.

My academic programme is suffering as I
find it hard to read my books, which is my
primary reason for being in school,” she
confessed.
She continued: “I feel bored at times.
Whenever my fiancé and I have a quarrel, he
abuses and molests me which gives me
psychological and health problems.”

Asked why she has not left her fiancé’s
home, she said her desire for
companionship has made her remain there.
When pressed further whether her parents
know of her situation, she screamed: “No!”

At about 9:45pm yesterday night, 15th April 2019 a corp member fell from a moving commercial bus (danfo) along LASU-ISHERI road Lagos.

*Will your admission dreams come true this year? Out of the about 1.8M+ candidates gunning for admission in 2019, about 1.1M candidates will not make it to the universities of their choice. Will you be one of them?*

*I just heard someone say, “No, God forbid!”
Many others have said, “This year is my year. By God’s grace, I will make it to the university.” And that’s very good. It’s good to confess positively.*

*It’s very good to hope for the best. It’s good to dream big but not forgetting that Dreams come true only for those who wake early to pursue theirs.*
.
*If 2019 JAMB UTME would commence on the 11th of April, then it’s just less than 4 days away! When did you start preparing seriously for the exams?*

*How far have you gone now? How many hours do you consistently invest in your studies daily? How ready are you now as you are reading this? On a scale of 1 – 10, where do you rate your level of preparations?*

*Listen, success does not happen by chance; it is the inevitable result of diligent and persistent preparations. I don’t think I need to spend time reminding you that 2019 JAMB UTME would not be business as usual.*

*The standard has been raised, the price to be paid is now high. It’s time to brace up, get focused and face the challenge before you.*

*FACULTY OF LAW 300 LEVEL TO 500 LEVEL STUDENTS FIRST SEMESTER EXAMINATION START TODAY, 15TH APRIL 2019*

*It will interest you to know that, Faculty of law 300 to 500 level to begin their examination today Monday being 15th of April 2019. Best of lucks to all the participants.*

*It will interest you to know that, Faculty of Law resumed before any other Faculty in AAU.... Their Academic calendar has been running since November 2018 even when ASUU were on strike they were still going to school for lectures as some of their lecturers refused to join the ASUU strike*
.
*The Faculty don't joke with resumption date and lectures because of their Law school*
.
*It will also interest you to know, other level in the Faculty, 100 level and 200 level will join the rest Faculties to write their First Semester Examination as their Exams are Computer Base Examination*

*FIRST SEMESTER EXAMINATION BEGINS MAY 1ST, 2019 FOR THE REST DEPARTMENT ACROSS ALL OTHER VARIOUS FACULTIES IN THE UNIVERSITY*

*First Semester Examination begins for the rest Faculties, May 1st, 2019*

*As at the time of writing this report, First Semester Examination time table were already rolling out across various other Departments and Faculties.*

*Computer Base Examination (C.B.E) Proposed Examination time table is already, though subject to little changes if need arises but for now, that's what university will be working with.*
.
*Note that, Some courses for 300 and 400 level students will be computer based examination while the rest are Paper and Pen.*
.
*Be reminded that, you are only permitted to write the courses that you have registered. On this note, students who are yet to register their courses online are encouraged to do so on or before 16th of April 2019.*
.
*In same development, correction/course form regularization is still effective till 16th of April 2019. Course form regularization is a avenue of regulating your course units not to be above 48 units and 52 units for final year students, consult your course advisers for advise.*
.
*Lastly, students have been informed that access into the examination hall will strictly be on identification and evidence of school fees payment. On this note,students who are yet to possess their identity cards are encouraged to do so, because the university management has strictly directed that NO ID CARD, NO EXAM.*
.
*Previous identity card still valid, students who misplaced theirs, to apply for fresh one through the students affairs division with a token of #2,000 only.*

*The Ambrose Alli University ,AAU .Ekpoma held its 36th Matriculation Ceremony on Tuesday ,26th March at the Cordelia Agbebaku Auditorium.*

*Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor I.A. Onimawo said since the first Matriculation which was held on the 8th of February, 1982 for 408 students the institution has become a pace setter in university education.*

*While welcoming the fresh students Professor Onimawo said their oath of allegiance marked the beginning of their journey of success in life, to become outstanding leaders of thought, professionals and distinguished people in their chosen fields.*
