PDP Presidential aspirant the Former Governor of Jigawa State, Dr Sule Lamido CON, and members of his national campaign council today met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Olusegun Obasanjo national library Abeokuta, Ogun State over his 2019 presidential ambition.

In a terse statement by Mansur Ahmed, the social media aide to Lamido, said: “the meeting was part of the consultation with relevant stakeholders, elders, party officials and key political actors in Nigeria across the length and breadth of this Nation"

Lamido said, that I have nothing to tell you about me because you know me more than anybody, I have came to greet you, brief you, seek for your blessings and ask for your fatherly advise.

Obasanjo in his remark said, as a former minister of foreign affairs, Sule knows the world and knows how to relate with other countries of the world, I was so happy and elated by what I saw in Jigawa state when you became a Governor.

He added, Sule I don't have any doubt about your attributes, your capacity, your courage, your interest about your state and Nigeria at large, Sule you can do it and you can do it well.

It could be recalled that Lamido made a similar visit to the Former Military head of states Abdulsalami Abubakar, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and he had previously visit Obasanjo last year as part of his nationwide consultations on his presidential aspiration in 2019.

Before then, Lamido met with all the PDP state Governors in their respective states, 36 PDP chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Zonal vice chairmen of the party, Former Speakers forum, where he told them of his as aspiration and urged them to pick the best for the party when the time comes

Lamido is accompanied by campaign DG Barr. Musa Elayo, Senator Josephine Anenih, Ambassador Joe Keshi, RTD AIG Kayode Thiorplus, Alhaji Umaru Mai Shadai, and Hon. Rahman Owokoniran and Ogun state party Chairman

Speaking at his Hilltop mansion, IBB said Makarfi restored his hope of a new Nigeria.He said...

“I was almost losing hope in the country, but having heard from the distinguished senator, I have become more enlightened and emboldened to say we have hope in Nigeria".

“Without fear or favour, you have made my day".

“We need a new narrative in this country. We can’t go on like we used to. We need an articulated vision of a new Nigeria. I am not surprised that you give such narrative of the country. You did well in the legislature and you handled well one of the most civilised and sophisticated states in Nigeria".

“You have my blessings and I will look forward to hearing from you on some of these articulations I heard from you today. Honestly I feel so proud”.

His visit maybe related to his numerous consultations in a bid to be PDP's flag bearer in 2019 presidential election.

'IN THE NEWS THIS AFTERNOON

A man in his 30s was lynched this morning by an angry mob in Urua Ekpa Junction in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The mob had pursued the suspect after making away with the vehicle, which was packed in front of a fuel station, few kilometers from AKBC Transmitting Station, Ntak Inyang.

An elderly man who claimed ownership of the motorcycle, said he was shocked when he watched the deceased unlocking his vehicle with the aid of a master key, prompting him to inform people round the vicinity,who helped caught the suspect and set him ablaze.

Before men of the State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS could arrive the scene, the mob had already poured petrol on the suspect burning him beyond recognition.

For about an hour, the Urua Ekpa axis of the every busy Calabar Itu Highway was barricaded by curious onlookers who rushed to catch the glimpse of the deceased.

An eyewitnes, Itoro Umoh identified the suspect describing him as "serial robber" whose stock in trade is to steal motorcycle packed at the fuel station by people, who came from Itu and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas for business in the Capital City.

Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Odiko MacDon confirmed the incident, describing the jungle justice as unfortunate and encouraged people to always report criminal matters to the Police instead of taking the law in their hands.

At the time of filing in this report, the body of the deceased, which was a Mecca of sort, was yet to be evacuated.

Former Vice President and foremost presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar paid a courtesy call to the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.

During his visit which was attended by all members of the party's National Working Committee (NWC), Atiku praised the leadership of the party for ensuring a free, fair and transparent election at the recently conducted Ekiti gubernatorial primaries.

According to him: "Let me start by commending the NWC for piloting a free, fair and transparent primaries in Ekiti. I believe if we sustain this, PDP will do exploits with this precedents you have set, PDP will regain its prominence. I wish to congratulate the members of the NWC as managers of the party and your performance is indicative of how Nigerians see the party," he said.

While speaking on his presidential ambition, Atiku stated that one of the reasons for visiting the party's headquarters is to formally put the party on notice of his intention to present himself as an aspirant for the exalted office of the President of Nigeria under the party.

Atiku further reiterated his commitment to the party and Nigeria as a whole whether he gets the ticket or not.

Speaking on behalf of the NWC, the party Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, stated that the leadership has vowed to return the party to the original vision of its founding fathers.

"We have total commitment to run a free, fair and transparent processes. We will conduct all election primaries with the utmost fear of God. We cannot allow Nigeria to collapse," he said.

According to a report shared by an online user,the man pictured below was caught while trying to rob BJ Hostel around Second Transformer in Adenike area,LAUTECH.
Witnesses said the suspect was not with a gun or knife but he carried only a scissors. He was however caught before he could carry out his plot.The suspect was reportedly chained till daybreak and when he tried to escape, he was stripped unclad and beaten.

DISCHARGED ARMY OFFICER BRUTALIZED BY NIGERIA POLICE DELTA STATE COMMNAD SEEK FOR JUSTICE.

Muhammad Uba 42yrs, from Yobo state, a discharged Corporal, Nigeria Army. Out of Frustration, he volunteering discharged from service after sustaining an injury which paralyzed him in Sudan during Peace Keeping Mission. He was denied monetary compensation paid by United Nations by the Army Authorities (Our lawyers already briefed.).

Muhammad Uba relocated to Asaba with his family and years later joined a Vigilantee group to secure Abraka Market, also a member My Body My Right Initiative.

HIS ENCOUNTER WITH NIGERIA POLICE, DELTA STATE COMMAND.

"On 17th June, 2018, at about 6:00pm, I saw two men people dragging a lady, as a security officer, i have to intervene. I stopped them from dragging the girl. As I was about leaving, one of them pushed me and I asked him why he had to push me. He said if I ask him again he will deal with me and nothing will happen.

One of them hold me in my trouser and started dragging me. I started hearing from people looking, officers what did he do, leave him alone. I then recognize two officers who are Police officers attach to Operations Department Delta State Police Command. The four officers teamed up and started beating me, naked me and broke my right hand.

Some passerby gathered and pleaded they let me be. They left me. I quickly took my phone and called Delta State Police Commissioner Mohammed Mustafa on this number 08037672845 and complained to him. Few minutes later, DPO C Division called me with using this line 08068219900, shouting at me why I should call Commissioner of Police without first calling him. I apologized and told him my condition was critical.

He asked for my location and told me he will send police officers to me. He sent DCO 1 , DCO 2 and S.O, all from C Division Asaba.

They arrested two police officers, the other two ran away (BBI is investigating to get the names of all the officers and will be provided next update).

After the arrest, they abandoned me. I took myself to the hospital. I have never experienced such in my life. They naked me in the public, assaulted me and said I can't do anything.

Am calling on Behind Bars Defenders to please get Justice for me and bring the officers to book".

Behind Bars Defenders and My Body My Rights Initiative has launched a full investigations. The officers involved in assaulting Muhammad Uba will be brought to book and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to other officers.
