I suspect the Nigerian banks are in trouble, there were rumors of this late last year but was quickly dispelled, it looks like the banks don't have the liquidity or cash to support some of these transactions any longer, the forex retrictions here and there I suspect are just measures to cover up for the banks who are in trouble, I have asked a cbn guy about this but no one wants to speak up.

If you consider the bad debts that some of these banks have especially when they were naming and shaming their debtors last year, will give an indication to this. It could be that to avoid panic among Nigerians about the banks, that's why we can't have an effective communication from any quarters.

Try removing excess of just 1million naira from your banks bulk room and you will understand the panic on the cashiers face is real.
