Oyinprince: Chapter 1 Part 1
The light in the room was dim, a thin line of smoke could be seen rising from a dark corner of the room, sometimes it was a huge brief mold. Someone was seated at that corner quietly while two others were standing close to him at his different sides. There was someone else seated at the opposite side to the dark place, the room was brighter at that part but the face of the person could still not be seen. His shadow was formed on the ground and the wall behind. He was putting on a black trouser and a white shirt, his right hand on his knee while his left hand on a table which was by his side.
An unexpected faint beam of light appeared from the table. The man's hand reached for the source of light and picked it up and turned it to his face. The light from the Android phone revealed his face as he typed in a reply to the popup message.
'The Vice President is cool with my decision,' Chief Rikau spoke aloud after replying the message.
'It doesn't matter how many people are cool with it, you took a foolish decision.' The voice from the dark place replied coldly.
The Inspector General felt uneasy as he adjusted his position on the chair, he loathed Rex's audacity to address him without respect.
'We could have taken instead of killing him,' Rex said, standing up from the seat. He threw the remnant of the cigar to the ground and bent his neck sideways, it made a crack sound.
'Killing him was the best, those guys are dangerous. We shouldn't give them any chance.' Chief Rikau said.
'You're a fool man,' Rex voiced out boldly. 'How can you say killing him was the best option? He wasn't even the assassin and I'm very sure he wasn't her brother, assassins don't keep close family members who are dear to them.' Rex paused and took out another cigar, he could tell from the movement of the Inspector General that the man wasn't comfortable with his manner of addressing him. 'I'm sorry for insulting you man but it's just that I've never seen such a level of stupidity displayed...'
'I won't take that from you anymore,' Chief Rikau blurted out angrily, standing up from his seat. 'Don't talk to me like that again, I was asked to give you orders, you should obey my instruction.'
Rex looked calm and undisturbed, he stared at the man's face for a while. He placed the cigar in his mouth and lit it. It didn't take him a minute when he took out the cigar again and threw to the ground. 'Damn! I feel too hot here, even with the air conditioners, it's so hot.'
'It's a lot different here boss, the weather cannot be suitable for smoking during this season.' Don's voice sounded quickly.
'I know the bleeping weather is hot, I only wanted to relief myself from the memories of the stupid steps taken today, ' Rex replied, stylishly taking another jab at the Inspector General.
Inspector General Riquietlyt an angry look at Rex, he took brief glances towards other parts of the room before he hurried out to meet his escorts and junior officers who had been patiently waiting for him.

**8am, next day**
Tarasha was seated on a bamboo chair in an abandoned hut, she had a black bra on and the black trouser of the last night, the rest of her body was bare. Cole and Aisha were still sleeping on a blanket which they had laid on the floor, they used two different neat wrappers to cover all the parts of their bodies to save themselves from the desperate mosquitoes.
There was a laptop on Tarasha's lap and her eyes were fixated on it. After composing a long message into the compose box of her email, she put in the NSCC email at the receiver's address column and click on send. She minimized the window and maximized another; the Google chrome browser. There were several pictures of the Inspector General on the display by the Google image search engine. After saving some of the pictures into her laptop, she switched to another tab where she had searched for images of the man's house. She saved some views and then minimized the window again.
She opened the map application on the system and searched for the location of the Kuje Maximum Security Prison, she copied the position as soon as she got it and maximized the NSCC application, she pasted the position copied to the column provided and after a minute of loading, an option of nine clips displayed on the first page, four more pages were available. Each option of clip showed a particular view of the prison facility, some of the clips on the third and fourth pages showed briefly some parts inside the facility. She made some few observations and typed some words into her phone to store for remembrance.
'Good morning Boss,' Cole interrupted her thoughts. She replied by flashing a look at him. He understood that she wasn't in the mood to talk and quietly proceeded out of the hut. He stretched and yawned as the cool breeze outside blew on his body, he turned to the back of the hut to release urine before proceeding to the heavy duty truck the boss had come with the last night.
He observed the soil in the place, it would have been impossible to access the location with that kind of heavy vehicle if it was rainy season.
The place was somewhere in previously abandoned community, the people had to evacuate the place because of an epidemic that struck, now the people had started returning one after the other after the community was purified two weeks ago but a larger percentage of the community's population had not still returned.
The truck was locked behind with a huge padlock, he had seen the content the last night and was baffled by what he saw in the darkness, he wondered what it would be like when it was day. The boss did not act like she was ready to tell him what was there as she only opened it to pick up something and locked it back. He wished she would allow him access the place.
As if his wish was heard, a key was flung to his front from behind. He glanced back to see his boss standing in front of the hut, her arms folded.
'We have to offload the weapons because we'll need to change some parts of the truck,' she said to him.
He quietly picked up the key and opened the truck behind, his mouth was left agape as he confirmed to his greatest bewilderment the quantity of guns, ammunitions and other weapons stored in it. He took a glance at his boss with shock written all over his face, she kept an indifferent look and urged him to continue her instruction.
'And ermm...' Tarasha called back his attention as she remembered something. 'Maybe you have to leave that for now. I'll need you to check around Kuje Maximum Prison facility now. We have somewhere to go first and we'll have to also visit one of their top officials in the maximum prison facility.'
________
**10:38am**
NSCC headquarters
'Damn!' Mr Sylvester slammed his hand angrily on the table for the umpteenth time. Frank and his colleague were standing beside him and staring at the screen of the laptop on the table. 'Why did she have to leave like this?'
'Sir, it is her decision and we have to respect it.' Frank put in.
'She's needed here, she's needed by our nation. She could have told me whatever the problem was and we would have offered her a helping hand,' Mr Sylvester said stubbornly.
'We just have to respect her decision, she said her mum is bedridden again and the whole family is blaming her for it because her job didn't give her the opportunity to spend enough time with her recovering mum ' Frank said.
'We would have still found a solution to it, going like this wasn't the solution.'
'Let's just try visit the address provided, we may have luck in convincing her,' Frank's colleague suggested.
'I hope so...'
_________
**10.45am**
Cole and Aisha stood far behind watching as Tarasha squatted before the grave behind the tree. It had only been covered with sand and it looked fresh, they had no idea whose dead body laid underneath but they were sure it was someone very dear to their boss' heart as they could hear her soft sobs as she touched the soil and mumbled some words.
Tarasha's eyes were teary as she dropped the flowers on Jeffrey's grave. She had killed the man, she took the whole blame on herself. He wouldn't have died if he didn't find her, and he probably would have still been running his local business if she had not insisted he stayed with her. She also could have saved his life the day he was killed if not for her visit to Henry, she wasn't allowed to take any device into the visiting hall of the prison, so she did not get an alarm when the intruders entered the house. She also didn't check her device when she was returning home because she was moved by Henry's discussion with her, all she wanted to do was get home and fulfil Henry's wish; that was taking Jefa with her to somewhere far away.
She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath of the cold breeze.
'Everyone involved in your death would pay, I promise.' she said aloud, hoping her brother could hear the reassurance of the promise she had made him while digging the place the previous day.

Literature › Re: Love, Lies And Divorce(lld) by Stevenbright(m): 8:45am On Apr 30, 2017 |
Buttersss: what’? maybe she hadn’t heard him well as the words faded the moment he spoke them….
‘I want my freedom Lola, marriage was never for me…I don’t wanna be with you anymore….so just go wherever…I’m done here….’ he licked his lips and drank some more….
‘no, this cannot be happening , no…Femi? You can’t do this to me…’ her sobbing increased…how could he throw to the birds everything they had shared….
‘it is happening baby…I know you married me because of my wealth….i promise you, you wouldn’t lack anything even after the divorce….i just want to be free…’ he continued and almost chuckled at her dramatic display…
‘no, you are drunk…that’s the beer speaking to me right now….you’re sick, if you think I’m gonna let you dump me just like that…we’re in this together, for better and for worse…please Femi I love you…can’t you see? I loved you from the first day we met in the library….my heart is in your hands, please don’t break it….’ She walked towards him and held his hands….she sought warmth, she yearned for comfort in his hands but they were cold….just like his eyes …
‘I am being honest, what have you offered me Lola? I needed children, this would be our seventh year in marriage and it isn’t working out as we planned, how many doctors? How many hospitals have we visited? Just look at me…look at us we weren’t like this…we need to go to our separate ways…I’ve already called a lawyer….he’s arranged the papers…I just need you to sign it….thank you…’ he released her arms and began walking out the door but her question stopped him…
‘Wait, Femi….are you doing this because of your family? Did you ever love me for real’? her eyes burned with fresh tears as she waited for the truth….
‘no Lola, I am doing this for me…and as for your other question? I once loved you…but love fades….’ He turned around and left….
‘God, let this not be real…where do I start from? How do I get over him’? all her life, she’d lived for this one man and he’d betrayed her…he’d broken his promises to her….
‘I might just have to take Zainab’s offer….’ She whispered fearfully as she tried to shake off the burden that weighed heavily on her…
*** ‘you’ve been out all day…you left me and Odinaka alone….’ Sly wondered what had kept his wife this long from home…
She’d told her she had a date with Zainab and the other girls but he never expected it to be this long…he missed her dearly…
Amaka was still mad at him for having an affair with his secretary ….he felt guilty by what he’d done, his conscience pricked him day and night and he had no other option than to speak to their pastor about it…
‘Your wife owns you, she owns your body, and you have soiled it by sharing what belongs to her with another woman…many men wouldn’t do what you’re doing right now….they would neither show remorse or confess their sins to their wives….i’ll advise you to take one day fasting and pray to Jesus about it…tell him to take that judgment from you after which you confess to your wife….make her understand that it happened only once and you’re willing to forgo that secretary of yours….be more careful in future Brother Sylvester…’ Pastor Ike had advised him…
He loved Amaka with his dying breath…she made him happy as she respected him and treated him with utmost love and care…but he’d failed her greatly and he’d regretted it deeply….but the problem was that Amaka was a very unforgiving person…she kept grudges a lot and that was the only flaw in her…
‘and now I am back….sweetheart, did you miss mummy’? she ignored her husband and picked up her little son…
Sly had always been the perfect husband, till he cheated on her with his stupid secretary which he was still shagging for sure…
‘I made us dinner….’ Sly rose to his feet and got her bag….when was she going to get mad at him? When would she cry? … After taking the advice of the pastor and telling Amaka about his misgivings…she simply looked him in the eye like she hadn’t believed what he told her….
After moments of being silent, her eyes which had turned cold faced him in challenge….
‘well Sly, since you have broken your vows to me…since you now enjoy the company of other women…I think I am also free to enjoy myself….’ She hissed and went back to sleep, that was two days before…
‘I already ate at Zee’s …goodnight….’ She walked away from him before he could say anything? Why was she making this difficult than it already was?
‘damn Doyin’! he hit the table angrily….he had no excuse to fall into her trap…it had only happened once and he hadn’t hesitated in firing her after the incidence…he loved Amaka that much…but how long would she give him the silent treatment?
He needed to talk to her….he loved his angel so much but his only wish was for her to forgive him…to yell at him…to do something…
Her silence was the worst punishment he could ever have….he shrugged and followed her towards their bedroom….
‘what are you doing now’? Sly raised his brows as she tied the baby to the back and started unpacking some boxes…his heart raced…was she leaving him?
‘moving to my room Sly, this isn’t the time…just get out of my way….’ Amaka ignored him and continued gathering the few things she needed…
‘your room?...but we agreed not to have separate rooms….’ He was relieved she wasn’t leaving him….
‘yes we did dear husband, but that was before you slept with Doyin….i cannot sleep on that bed with you knowing you found pleasure in the arms of another woman….’ She had to avoid him for some time and getting her own room would be the best thing….
‘Amaka…I am sorry, it only happened once and she’s been fired..so there’s no need for you to worry…I know I broke your heart and it’s going to take some time…but just stay right here with me…’ he went on his knees…
‘whoa slow down, so that’s supposed to make me feel better? That you have fired her? Do you think I am a fool Sly? You got that office romance thing going on since before our marriage…I guess I must have been to blind…I so hate you right now…get out of my way…’ she tried to move forward but he stopped her…..
‘Amaka…please remember the love we shared…please don’t let it die…it was a mistake….’ He held her hands but she pushed him off forcefully and went out of the room….
‘God help me, I cannot do this alone…’ he turned and scanned the room which now seemed empty as his angel was gone…
*** ‘can you stop that and finish your food’? Zainab wondered what Abdul was typing, he’d seemed a lot busy the previous week..maybe it had to do with the celebrations…
‘Do not be angry with me baby…Alhaji Tako called me earlier in the day and asked me to see him tomorrow…it seems he has a contract for me…’ Abdul smiled at his lovely wife…he was so proud of Zainab…
‘Engineering was never easy…now drop the phone and finish your food darling….’ Zainab relaxed against the chair…she wasn’t happy about her friend’s situation…
She’d know Femi for some years now and he had always been ruthless in his womanizing ways, he never spared Lola the embarrassment…
Now he finally had the nerve to take one of his prostitutes home…if only Lola would hearken to her…she needed to change her environment…
Staying in that house wasn’t healthy for her…she needed to be alone for some time and think through the matter….what was Femi really after? What did he want?
‘so are you proud you married a civil engineer’? Abdul gulped generously from the glass …his wife wasn’t totally happy, though he’d bought her some gifts as well as the children…was her countenance part of his undoing? He hated to upset Zainab…she was the perfect woman for him…
‘yes dear, I am…’ his faced beamed with smiles as she replied his question….
‘so baby, did you see the lingerie I bought you? We should try something new tonight…I miss having you in my bed…’ he hoped the children weren’t close by…
‘Abdul! I saw them but I cannot wear such obscene clothes…they are meant for those who work in brothels….a muslima shouldn’t be found wearing such things….’ She voiced her displease with his gift…
‘okay…I am sorry my wife, but are you kissing me tonight’? it had been a long time since they’d made love… He understood her reasons but he couldn’t wait any longer, three weeks was a long time….Zainab had been very busy preparing for the Celebrations and she was part of the executive in the MWOL(Muslim women Organisation Lagos…) so he knew than to bother her…
‘tonight? I don’t know Abdul…you know I had a date with my friends, I am a bit fatigued….but we’ll see…’ she peered at the clock and wondered if Lola was still going to make it…
‘speaking of your friends…how are they? Haven’t heard much from Lola…is she okay’? Abdul always favored her…
She reminded him of his wife sometimes…a closer look at the two would make one think they were related…
Lola was tall ,slender , light skinned and had the most attractive form…her lips weren’t full but slightly thin…her nose was sharp and angular and her eyes were golden and bulky…she was a very beautiful woman…
But not as beautiful as his Zainabu, his wife was the most lovely woman, though he was Fulani, she was a hausa woman…she was five feet plus and her hair was quite long as it fell beneath her shoulders… she was very lightskinned and her lips were pink and pale…but the smile that came from them could tame a raging lion….
Her nose was broad and finely placed on her oval face…her eyes were wide and dark brown…
‘I don’t know baby but they would be fine…’ she didn’t make it a point of duty to expose her friend’s marital problems to her husband…but when their problems were about to swallow her peace…she had no other option than to spill it…
‘do you want to talk about it?’ he asked gently and reached for her slender fingers….
‘should i? we’ve both had a long day, maybe we should get some sleep…’ she returned…
‘tell me Zee…talk to me, it kills me whenever you’re like this…like you’re carrying the weight of the world…’ she was so caring and that alone had its consequences…
‘Lola had a fight with Femi….i told her she could come stay over the night…I hope it is okay? As she sounded so hurt on the phone…’ Zainab sought his permission…
‘anything you want baby, whatever makes you happy…this house also belongs to you…’ he gave her hand a squeeze…
‘I love you baby…you’re the man behind my smile…thanks for being there for me whenever I need you….’she smiled at him.
‘hey, don’t be too hard on yourself, your friend’s are my friend’s too…maybe I should talk to Femi…what do you think’? he inquired thoughtfully? Not that he was very close to the man, but his behavior towards Lola was degrading…
‘no baby, let’s stay out of it….they’ll sort themselves out somehow…’Zainab protested….
He was about to say something when the door flung wide revealing a fearful Lola…she looked so fragile and vulnerable …
‘I guess she took my offer…’ Zainab rose to welcome her friend ….
‘good evening….i am sorry I barged into the house like this…it’s just the dogs…..their barking and growling terrified me…’Lola placed her hands on her chest …
‘welcome Lola, I am sorry about that…you know how much I love dogs….’ Abdul gazed at her slowly…had she been crying?
‘darling? Could you go to the room and check on the kids’? Zainab deliberately sent her husband away…she needed to comfort her friend, one look at Lola would tell anyone that she needed to talk to someone… Like your other stories, this is becoming very interesting! The voice of the man could be heard at the gate as the house helps listened, at the same time, pretending to be occupied with their chores.
"You're too lazy, what's wrong in waking up early to prepare me a decent meal? I go out every morning and come back late because I'm struggling to keep this family in line with whatever is in vogue, all I expect is your loyalty and submission but no, you lie in bed and ask the maids to prepare my meal and you know I don't like it."
Claire didn't say a word. She was battling with morning sickness and she doesn't even know why. She suddenly has the urge to throw up at the smell of food, she feels weak each morning or is it the saliva that has started forming a lake in her mouth. She watched her husband shout, he deserved to be angry. For the two years they've been married, she'd singlehandedly prepared all his meals, he doesn't eat out except snacks so she gives him breakfast, takes his lunch to his office and then makes dinner before he returns. She only goes to her mall during the weekend when she gets new supplies. She left the mall in the care of her younger sister who just graduated from ANSU last year.
Her marriage has been perfect until she started feeling strange two weeks ago so she understood that Michael, her sweet husband has the right to be angry.
"You can lie in bed all day if you want but I'm not eating that food. Don't make me eat out because if I do, Claire Njama if I eat out, you won't like it."
Claire sat up at once, she tried to speak but her mouth was filled with saliva so she ran into the bathroom, washed her mouth and came out, only to meet him about leaving the room.
"Baby, I'm sorry okay, I've not been feeling too good and ...."
"That's what you've been saying for two weeks now Claire. If you're tired of being my wife, tell me." Michael interrupted angrily.
"I love you Michael and I won't get tired of performing my duties but look at me nau. You know I'm not like this biko.'
Michael looked his wife over. She had added weight and he didn't like it. Topping it, she's started ignoring him. She must be seeing another man. He hissed loudly, opened the door and walked out. He went downstairs and walked to the dinning where he met Amara who was dishing out from a bowl of egg sauce. Beside her was a plate of white yam.
"Good morning bro Mike. How was your night?" She asked with face full of smile.
"Morning Amara. Who made that?" He asked eying the egg sauce which was so inviting, with the tiny pieces of liver he could see sleeping in it.
"Oh! I brought the sauce from the deep freezer, sister Claire must have made it sometime, then I boiled the yam"
He smiled and sat down, signalling to Amara to serve him. What is white yam? It doesn't mean anything since its his wife that made the sauce. Hr finished just as Amara was about putting away her plate.
"You're ready to leave for the mall right?"
"Yes bro Mike. I'll just clear the dishes and leave immediately."
"Alright. Hurry up so I can drop you". He said, picking his briefcase and walking out. Amara smiled. She was tired of trekking to the bus stand. Maybe if she wakes up early everyday, he would help her by dropping her at the mall which was in the centre of town. She carried the plates to the kitchen where the house helps were gossiping and cleared her throat. They scampered to different corners of the kitchen.
"Its still not 9 and you're already gossiping, useless things." She jammed the plates on one of the girl's hand before dropping them and walking out.
"She is just a sister to madam and she's like this, chukwu ekwekwala ihe ojoo (God forbid bad thing)". One of the girls said
"Upon say she fine like this" another one added.
"Beautiful girls are the ones with the disgusting attitudes". Gertrude, the head maid said. " let's just go back to work, she's not worth the time".
Claire watched from the window as her husband and younger sister got into the car and drove off. He had taken time as she had been standing there since he walked out. Maybe he drank tea or was just waiting for Amara so he can drop her. She sighed and sat on the bed, bringing out her iPhone to send him a text.
"I'm sorry baby, tell me what you want for lunch and I'll bring it to you okay, don't be mad at me for long. I love you to the moon and back."
She sent it and hoped for a reply. Tomorrow, she would go to the hospital and get some tests done. She won't ruin her marriage because of some illness. She laid on her back, hoping to get some rest only for her to fall asleep. It was that bad. Your writing is good and unique. 1 Like |

Chumzypinky: CHAPTER. 'i do not want another wife father!' Dike barked 'whats all this all about?! Another wife added to the batallion i have at home? Isnt that stupidity?'
Igwe Ikemba cleared his throat for the umpteenth time. He wondered why his son had refused to see reasons with him 'son, thats the tradition. As the crown prince of this community, you would have to do that. You'll be king one day and you'll rule'
'thats where you're greatly mistaken father. Because i will never be king. I will never rule. I've told you several times and i'm still telling you that i'm not interested in this throne, i'm fuckingly not interested! How many times will i tell you that?' Dike spoke angrily.
'be quiet son!' his mother, Lolo said in a fierce whisper 'you dont speak to your father that way'
'how else am i supposed to speak to him mother? For how long will i let this man here control my life? For goodness sakes, i am sick and tired of marrying women i do not love, women i do not understand nor know from anywhere!'
'son, its the tradition. Its tradition that you marry up to seven wives before you assume the throne of your father, the Igwe. Please try to understand. This is the last wife you'll be marrying i assure you. And we've already made preparations. And i'm sure you're going to like her. She studied abroad just like you. A professional nurse' His mother said.
'if indeed, she's a professional nurse, then why would she want to waste her time marrying someone like me? Doesnt she have anything better to do with her life?' He said looking at his mother.
'Dike!' His mother called.
'Dike' The Igwe said gruffly 'your marriage to this new maiden who just arrived her fatherland after spending so many years abroad is in 7days. And you're to prepare. Do not even think of messing with me son, because you know what i'm capable of'
Dike scoffed 'of course i know what you're capable of. And you equally know what i'm capable of. I also do hope you understand that there's nothing, i mean nothing thats going to make me marry that Godforsaken maiden! I, Dike Onuora Ikemba refuse to get married to her, whoever she is. And be lest assured father, that very soon, i'll get rid of the six demons you planted in my house, very soon' He glanced at his mother one more time, then picked up his car keys and left.
Igwe stared at Lolo 'are you seeing? Are you seeing it? Is this how you raised your son? To be disrespectful to his father?'
Lolo glanced at him 'whats the meaning of that Igwe? We raised him together didnt we?'
'are you talking back at me?'
Lolo stood up from her seat 'i'll be in my chambers now. If you need anything, call your other wives to get it for you' She started walking out of the throneroom.
'Lolo! Lolo! Ngozi! Come back here!' Igwe called but she walked out instead.

You have to take the bull by the horns. But don't resign from your job yet.
Start and work on it part time while someone who is also capable is on the ground fulltime. This must be an employee not a friend or family member.
Grow it this way for about two to three years, and then you can resign from your job and manage your business fulltime.
Follow this guide and thank me later! |

Now is the time to take that bold step and launch your publishing career. This is because you can not know all you need to know about independent publishing before you finally or reluctantly take that step.
The basic required skills are Writing, and Editing. This is because if you can at least do the first editing and proofreading of your manuscript, it greatly reduces your publishing expenses. In fact, you can fully do the complete editing of your manuscript if your writing is good from the start.
