The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braid is in the news again and as usual for all the bad reasons. Beside her now famed arrogance and mannerlessness, Ms. Braid was not too long ago accused of engaging in a dirty fight with a senior female Police officer to the point of near unclothedness. This time around, in her avowed determination to make a scapegoat of some whistle-blowers, Ms. Braid personally supervised the assault, torture and dehumanizing abuse of a Lagos resident who had captured in his mobile phone, unpardonable acts of impunity by some personnel of the Lagos state Police command against a commercial driver. Braid had defiantly refused to heed reason and pleas from the public but had insisted on incarcerating and arraigning the whistle-blower,...CONTINUE: http://crimefacts.org/sack-ppro-ngozi-braide-now-activist-demands-queries-how-lawless-can-a-law-enforcer-be/ |
The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical province, His Grace, Anthony Obinna, Sunday morning took Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state to the cleaners when he told the governor to his face that he has lost touch with the reality and essence of governance. It was the annual special Corpus Christi service of the Catholic church and Okorocha had decided to worship at the Assumpta Cathedral but the service really went sour for him, his wife and his entourage when Obinna’s sermon zeroed in on his administration and tore it to shreds right before the governor. As the altercation between the Imo state government and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Katsina deepens; Crimefacts.org authoritatively gathers that the Police command yesterday withdrew all the mobile Police personnel attached to the Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere. The seeming stand-off between the state police command and the Rochas Okorocha administration came to light when the state Police Command clamped down on a top government functionary in the person of the General Manager of the lucrative Owerri Capital Development Authority, Mr. Iheanyi Abaekwume, who was arrested for his involvement in criminal activities. During the 2011 Governorship Elections in Imo State, there were a lot of factors that contributed to the victory of Owelle Rochas Okorocha. One of them was the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). It was very easy then selling Okorocha with APGA to Imo people. This among other things was because of the emotions the party carries and its attachment to the Late Dim Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, quest for Biafran republic and the Igbo identity and interest. Therefore in 2011, it was very easy to whip up the sentiments of Imo people with the party’s symbol being the cock. It was easy and cheap to hoodwink the psyche of the masses into believing in APGA and Okorocha’s candidature even without much financial or material consideration...CONTINUE: http://crimefacts.org/anambra-2013-guber-election-a-fore-taste-of-imo-2015-governorship-by-emperor-iwuala/ |

Following a protest march by Library workers in Imo state to the State House of Assembly over Governor Rochas Okorocha’s move to demolish the Imo state Library, members of the Imo state House of Assembly has unanimously resolved that the state Library must stay, saying that the move by the governor was inconsistent with the ideals of the state and does not fall into the priority list of needs facing the state. It is no longer news that the college of Cardinals of the Catholic Church broke all known barriers, prejudices and sentiments in electing Pope Francis on March 13, 2013 the leader of the world's largest religious organisation. It is also no longer news that the pope is the first Jesuit pontiff of the Catholic Church who shuns all papal protocols including abandoning Apostolic Palace, the papal official residence, to live in a Catholic guest house known as Casa Santa Marta. In the history of the Catholic Church, no Pope had won the love of the world press and all men irrespective of tribe, tongue and creed through humility as exemplified by Francis on his election day when he requested the pilgrims gathered in the Saint Peter’s Square to pray and bless his petrine ministry; this singular act opened the tide in making Pope Francis one of the most loved and famous men on earth presently. ...CONTINUE: http://crimefacts.org/pope-francis-and-poverty-beyond-theological-semantics-by-udoka-okafor/ |
