Folks please what are the required documents for opening an account in the U.S. Is the school ID card required, and if so, is it a must?

Urgent reply needed ASAP

Thanks guys.
Depends on the bank... For BOA you just need your passport.

I really want to thank God for his favour during my visa interview and also appreciate Slimmy05 who helped me paid my sevis fees, my good friend kennyrony who has promised to help me search for my missing placenta in US. I need to say this, Visa approval is by God's favour, confidence,Preparation and don't put yourself under on necessary pressure as if your life depends on the visa.

I want to encourage all of us to continue the good work here and keep helping ourselves like the Indians.

I woke up 4.30am but got to the embassy 6.00am because I had to stop at the ATM to get some cash for parking space. After the normal routine check from the security, I was eager to see the VOs alight from the boat as someone said here so that I can see the face of that Chinese dude. on my way to the main hall, I Saw two guys coming out with blue paper,in my mind I said so this is how a blue paper looks like.

I was on under serious tension while entering the hall but I had to overcome it during the process of biometric with the black woman..

Window 3 was approving visa for some guys who know what they were saying while window 11 was busy questioning a guy for like 3mins and
I was praying not to meet her because I heard her saying I am sorry bla bla..I was praying the guy with window 3 should leave on time when it got to my turn but I was called to window 11.Here goes the interview..

VO: good morning with a smile
ME: Good morning and how are you doing(Big smile)
VO: Please place your left four fingers on the .......
ME: I did as instructed
VO: ooh Perfect
Me: I was looking at the white and blue paper while she was typing
VO: So you are going to SDSM&T for mining and mineral Engineering
Me:Yes
VO: So tell me what mining and mineral Engineering is all about
Me: Sorry
VO: why mining and mineral Engineering
ME: Okay, a degree in mining and mineral engineering with specialization in mining engr. Mgt will give me the necessary skills in decision making, Financial planing, budget control and administrative management.
VO:Okay, do u know anybody in this school?
Me: No but while i was searching for schools with specialization in mining mgt. on the internet, I met a professor who has an ongoing research on the optimization of mineral deposit using CAD Inventor. He introduced me to a student and the student called me. I was offer graduate assistantship which will give me the opportunty to join the Dr. P.K research group but i don't know the student in person.

VO: okay no problem.
VO: Do we have problem with mining here in Nigeria
ME: Sure
VO: tell me
Me: Land reclamation is a problem in Nigeria
VO: Tell me more about that
Me: mining is suppose to be done in such a way that it will have least impact on the people living in such environment.
VO: what kind of mine do we have in NIgeria
Me:Quarry and Limestone
VO: Apart from the decision making and budget control, what other things will you learn
Me: I will be taking classes on resource finance and accounting, resource merger and acquisition and mine ventilation
Vo:Okay
VO: do you work in a mine here in Nigeria
Me:yes
VO: as what
Me: Mine Engineer
VO: so how does a mine look like
Me: sorry, please can you come again
VO: is mine is Nigeria deep
ME: Yes, very deep, we call it Open pit mining

VO: I will be approving your visa with a smile
ME: Thank you and I do appreciate with a smile..I was lost immediately because I had to ask for way out.

Again, I Thank all the gurus here for the advice and contribution...
Congratulations!!!

So my appointment was for 6:30 am, Was at the consulate at 5:50am. Joined the queue as everyone else and after the instructions we proceeded for the security checks and screening. I forgot to sign my i20 so I had to sign it during the screening. We were seated in the hall, I think I was the ninth person on the row and it was now a waiting game....u can imagine the tension in my system, I had to go and take a leak to calm me self down a little bit cry. Ah well, the V.O's started tricking in; one after the other and visa interview started.

It got to me turn rather quickly, nice looking gentleman at window 3. The following discussion ensued;

V.O: Good morning, how are you today
Me: Very well, good morning. How are you.

V.O:Great. So please pass your docs
Me:Alright. Here we go (passes the docs)

V.O: we will verify your prints now
Me: ok and then we quickly get that done with

V.O:So why are you going to the US.
Me: o am going for my Ms in chem eng at the louisiana tech uni.

V.O: Do you hold a bachelor's
Me: yes, in chemical engineering

V.o: Did you consider other schools
Me: Yeah, sure. I sha named them

V.O: and u preferred LA tech
Me: quite frankly, only two of the schools I applied to offered me admission. And La tech was to me a bargain when u consider the cost against the quality of education in comparison to the other school. Beyond that, they have very focused research that matches my own interests. I am interested in alternative energy sources. In my undergraduate, I had investigated the effects of altering reaction processes in fermentation with yeast (I sha used the botanical name of yeast). And the department has several ongoing research efforts in this area

V.o cuts in....have you been in contact with any member of faculty to find out specifics
Me: oh yes, I have been in touch with Prof James Palmer (I m think I said prof d palmer or something but I didn't purse for a sec ) and he has research ongoing in effective production of cellulosic ethanol. Also they are researching effective adsorption in the Fischer tropsc process.

V.o: when did u graduate
Me: 2008

Types for a while and repeats the question; when did u say u graduated again:
Me: 2008

V.o: have u worked
Me: yes, with Tech daer services limited. A small oil servicing firm where we basically ....proceeded to describe job functions as I filled on the form ds160. I could sense he was now really looking at my form d 160

V.o: what we're u employed as?
Me: field engineer

V.o: who pays?
Me: my uncle

V.o: what does he do
Me: he owns a trading company, does major supplies and has sole distributorship for some companies

At this point, he separated the passport and d ds160 confirmation from the other docs....na den I know Say e don enter

Well, he starts smiling and then passes my other docs and says that I should keep them handy as I will be needing them when I enter the states.

That's how it went o. Join me in thanking God.
Congratulations!!!

Goood!

M-1 visa is the kind a VO wants to give out than the F-1 because of the many limitations it carries and strictly makes a territorial guidelines for you, but you Need more Ties and Ties To ur home country than The F-1 Visa, because it less in Tuition and you only need an amount of weeks or few months as the case maybe in Terms of Accommodation, so a VO sees you as a potential Migrant higher than an F-1!

If Your answers to the questions below is yes, Then you have a bright chance...

Are You within the age of 28-31years?

Are you sponsoring yourself?

Does your statement have at least twice in the amount you are going to be paying for tuition and Accommodation?

Do you have any form of degree related to your vocational study in the USA?

Are You Married (optional).

You don't need any travel experience or be worried about Having people in the USA, M-1 Visa on its own is a Killer for any form of Migration antics, But this stated above does not determine your getting a Visa or Not, But your confidence with the above is going to lighten up things and put you way up there for a Visa, Assured!
Hi Vibrant99

Funny, I didn't answer yes to most of your questions but I still got an M-1 visa.

Please do you mind telling the limitations an M-1 carry?
