zeezahbee: I still used mine to get $700 today for a friend. It works fine . I don't buy money order at Walmart. I buy at Kroger. Call customer service at +2348029002900. Tell them to unblock you card. They actually block your card once in a while , I dunno why $700?? I thought $300 was your daily limit? We don't have Kroger in Florida. I've called that number endlessly... im taking a break from all that. Stories upon stories. |

foohard: How certain are you on this? because for about a year now, I have not been able to use my GTBank Naira Master card for money order at Walmart as before.
When I came in (Fall 2013), I usually get money order of $1,000 per transaction from swiping my GTBank card but it stopped all of a sudden even before the withdrawer limits posted on International transactions. Thank God I'm not the only one... let it not look like I don't know what I'm saying/doing. |

slimmy05: swiping for money order is working smoothly just like swiping at any grocery store and you can purchase even $1000 money order with it. The daily limit withdrawal if you guys pay close attention to details is restricted to ATM withdrawals and not POS Which bank card? And when last did you try? |

The daily limit withdrawal if you guys pay close attention to details is restricted to ATM withdrawals and not POS That's what I've been doing in the past but it stopped working for months now... I tried one day and the teller asked for a "company code"...it was the strangest thing... I tried a couple more times after that and it still won't go through... I had to give up! Gtconnect was just speaking grammar. I agree with you but it's stopped working for me. My bro in OKC also tried but no luck. |

aadeyi: For folks just coming in, my kobo advise for you on money and card ish is this. Bring as many cash as you can, take the pain and use the bureau de change in the airport, nigerian bank cards can Bleep u up when you least expect it here. Bring your cash, open an account as soon as you come in and you will get an atm immediately. You can only support your spendings with your naija card, don't rely on it. It still diappointed a friend I went out to shop with yesterday even though the cards were from GTB and Zenith banks.
Just saying from my experience. I havnt used my GtBank naira mastercard for months now... With the ongoing banking reforms going on in Nigeria it is apparent some of the services we could enjoy before will no longer be available. POS purchases are still available but swiping for money order is generally not working...anybody that has used that service should let us know. Remember you have a daily limit of $300(including charges). For atm withdrawals...I tried it recently and got the same error message "unauthorised transaction". Someone told me to select "Credit" when selecting type of account (havnt verified that though). For new card users, make sure your card is provisioned for online banking and International transactions. For further questions/complaints, please call. GTConnect. (Non-employed spokesperson) |

LagosNIV: I don't know that VOs are necessarily bored of hearing the Princeton Review answer - but if this is the real reason for selecting a school then you should be able to speak credibly about the other schools that ranked higher. I have literally had an applicant tell me that he chose a school because it was ranked #47 out of over 4,000 schools on Princeton Review.
No other reason.
Could not explain why he did not apply to # 1-46.
Abeg please help me understand how this makes sense. Hello Sorbital LagosNIV is repeating exactly what I said after reading your transcript. ...You failed to convincingly explain to the VO why you chose a particular "highly" ranked school from a list of other "highly" school which you applied. This is a sure question most VO's ask and also an easy way to win their hearts. Sometimes, VO's even ask this question twice especially when you didn't convince him/her the first time. For your next interview... gather your points and arrange them neatly in order of importance (as you deem fit) ...Then you need to rehearse the hell out of it so you can recall even if someone points a gun at you. But ultimately, ask God to help you. A lot of people here implored His help and it made their interview seamless! Goodluck bruh!!! Make this one count. |

LagosNIV: This is just wrong. Having an aunt in the place where you go to school does not mean that you have immigrant intent. In fact, it gives at least one reason why you are going to school somewhere. Living with relatives who are already in the US will make your education much more affordable... Well we're under the strong impression that having a relative in the US shows a lot of immigrant intent... My vague belief is that it favours undergraduate(because they're usually younger and would need some guidance) than post graduate students(who are more mature and can pretty much survive with little or no supervision) My opinion though! |

coobboy: Your red flag plenty ehn. She asked who is sponsoring you, she did not ask what does your aunty does. When they dont ask you a specifi question, dont just jump to it, read more undergrafuate transcripts, see how questions are answered.
Why not apply to a university straight, rather than a university, referring you to a college. Fix this
Your aunt being your sponsor, in the same state as you are gonna be schooling, shows immigrant intent man. If you used a sponsor here in nigeria, and your aunt lives in illinois, there would be no problem.
Since you are an undergraduate, you shouldnt have even mentioned being in a school, or you could have said you have graduated from yabatech whatsoever, i was in my last semester in yabatech, yet i said ive graduated from yabatech. I printed some of my results online to show proof... Even if i was asked where my final result was, i could have said, it was not put out online already.... Mentioning that you are in a school in naija already raised something up, and you couldnt even defend it well, by saying the school is inline with the latest technology etc and give some technical examples of what yabatech has and what the school has. Give cogent reasons why u chose your intended school over yabatech.
1. Choose a university and not some uni that would tell you to go to a college first before transferring (i can give you list of schools to start applying to. That would release ur sevis records straight if u wanna transfer) 2. I could have adviced you to change your sponsor, but keep on, cos it is always adviced you use a sponsor from nigeria or outside nigeria 3. Give cogent reasons why you chose your intended school over yabatech, learn to give technical reasons that would burst the VOs brain (read why your intended school is better than yabatech's engineering) you can always transfer to the illinois tech, nobody would hld you back 4. Dont just jump into questions you are not asked. Also wetin concern VO with new month, you were there for business, and business only.... The VO is not your friend. Somepeople like me, dont like all these happy new month ish. No offence tho me just wan advice Good stuff! I don't like those "How was your night" and "Happy new month" issh too... I didn't do it during my interview besides the guy was ridiculously young and I felt he should be the one greeting me with sir ( I dey joke ooo). Sometimes giving VO's the aura that you don't even care about their damn visa (without being proud though) it helps eliminate immigrant intent. |
