Awaiting answers from you guys..God bless! A counsellor told me at least a month to resumption is a good time... It shows you're prepared and organized. And just if something comes up(say for example, you're being placed on admin processing) you have time to wait and not camping at the embassy. |

Once you're above 24, you really can't have a flying career in the Military. If not ill be first in line to enlist...but there's no problem, I always leave my options open! |

bigfrancis21: How then do you prove you actually went to Benin Republic? I know that Nigeria and Benin Republic are ECOWAS countries and one only needs a Nigerian passport to travel to any ECOWAS country from Nigeria, visa free. Except that would be your alibi. But also, your travel date to Benin Republic has to fall after the date you first obtained your passport because you need an international passport to travel to outside Nigeria, even to visa-free countries, right? Correct me if i'm wrong.
How did you go to Benin Republic? By Freight! Damn I couldn't help it! |

zeezahbee: The Mavin usually start application process by december through march. The basically accept people that can speak foreign language.
The first step is to apply online , visit a recruiter in your area, then afterwards they will call and you get interview on the phone. You will be told to speak the language to an officer who can also speak. The officer will speak ask you what do you call this and that in your language. You need to be fast because that is the first process. Once you are able to convince the officer, the next step follow. Medicals, background check and letter for your school DSO. You will be exempt from OPt or my other academic stuff you have at that moment.
It's a long process but if one is determined. It finally worked for my friend because I knew the steps Good stuff Zee! |

LUCAS99: @forum members anybody with detailed information regarding the MAVNI military program should contact me ASAP. I intend joining the United States Military by the time I graduate next semester inorder to bypass the Green Card Process entirely and gain U.S. Citizenship. Ojap, Imperioux, Walspring, BigFrancis21, Slimmy05, Zeezahbee and every other guru in the house your inputs are highly needed. Oh Yeah, you're eligible to enlist if you've maintained a legal stay in the US not less than 2years(Even if you leave, you didn't stay for more than 90days) on any of the non-immigrant visas category. Having any current medical licence and knowing another language(including Yoruba, hausa and igbo) is all to your advantage. |

Denvan: Still basking in the euphoria of my visa approval yesterday.
Scheduled for 9am, but arrived few minutes past 7. Had to wait till to ten b4 we were called. (I was already annoyed bcause I dnt like waiting and waiting and hearing discouraging words from pple, especially wen I hv an examinatn or interview; prefer to just come, go in and do business...). Anyway, gat no choice but to relax.
I was with my bag containing my laptop and other belongings and hv resolved not to keep it with those women hustling outside the embassy; one of them took sbd's bag and just hanged it on a tree while she continues to attend to other customers buying food frm her... for my mind, make I give u my bag, make another person carry am go and u go come tell me story or worst still, u run away...
Anyway, got inside and after a long wait and queue, it was my turn at window 9. Here was what transpired...
ME: Good morning ma VO: (Did not answer)...pass me your DS 160 and Pport...., I did VO: What about your Form I-20...., I passed it also VO: Where are u going for your Masters? ME: Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey VO: Why Rutgers? ME: Rutgers is the best school in New Jersey VO: (cut in..) As in? What did u say? I gave d same answer, and she repeated the same question. (I was thinking maybe because I was stuttering cause I am a stammarer so she did not hear me clearly or perhaps she is doubting my assertion that Rutgers is d best or sth.... so I quickly rephrased and stylishly moved to other cogent reasons...) ME: Rutgers is one of the best schools in US with a faculty/student ratio of 1/13. It is highly rated in terms of Engineering especially in my field (Energy systems) VO: (Looks at my Form-I20) But your Form I-20 shows that u are going for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering (design and control)!! ME: Yes. Design and control of Energy Systems VO: Ok, tell me about it. ME: The world survives and thrives on energy. Energy generation, storage and control is essential for human existence and as such every avenue to generate it must be harnessd. I hope to major in energy generation from vibrating bodies, knowing fully well that every object vibrates continuously, though at different frequencies. VO: Who is sponsoring u? ME: I got a scholarship from my state government and my brother will be co sponsoring. VO: Got any document to show? ME: Sure. (Gave her the account statement and the scholarship letter) VO: (scan through the documents and passed them to me....started typing.... (me I just they look...for my mind, tell me those golden words.......) Your visa is approved, take your Form I-20, you will need it at the point of entry bla bla bla... ME: (smiles...) Thanks and walked away majestically
I want to sincerely appreciate everyone of us for our contributions to this thread. Special thanks to Slimmy and Darklight...u guys are wonderful. Success to those that are going soon; u will also come here to testify. Congrats! But one would think you're going to Univ of Denver, hence your name! |

Although, its very economical but very stressful. u can check greyhound. com. I showed them the ticket at the POE and I was allowed in from ABU DHABI (Etihad). The greyhound bus can take u to anywhere in the state Greyhound from New York to Miami ? That's one road trip you don't wana embark on. You go tire! There are also somewhat unknown airlines eg "royal air maroc" Moroccan, going for less than 200k. What's ur best advice pls. @stewee, u b boss for fl. Pls other gurus, whc other airline to fl is not so costly? I flew Qatar. Instead of flying to a Fort Laud why not stop at Miami international Airport ... It might be cheaper! But you also have to consider how to find your way to Fort Laud. Miami to fort laud is like from CMS to Ojuelegba. |

buzibiza: sorry for time wasting, was busy at work. Visa approved today 7:30. I arrived 6:40am and waited for them to call us in. Got tired standing and decided to sit somewhere far, then they called us in . I lost my position as I was now about the 40th person on the line.
Did the usual checks and then the biometrics and was ushered to the hot seat . I think the Vos at 8 and 9 were a little more lenient, 5 and 6 were strict but I still got 5. The interview was thus:
Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning m'aam (didn't remember the "how are you doing I was supposed to ask"
Vo: Checked my i20 and typed for about 30 secs... What masters are you going for?
Me: For my masters in Public health ( wanted to say d name of the school, on a second thought, I asked myself " who send u?"
VO: What will Public Health do for you?
Me: Public health is in line with my previous degree in medicine and surgery and my current job in Bleep NGO. Public health professionals are needed in Nigeria because off the sociopolitical and environmental health issues here. We would be in charge of the future of the Nigerian health sector.
Vo: Who is sponsoring u?
Me: My Dad
Vo: What does he do?
Me: He owns a company, and he's contracted to some state govt( I named them).
Vo: Your visa has been approved bla bla bla
Personal tips:
I had about 36 formulated questions which I gathered and was rehearsing d questions for about 3 days of which all came out though not in the same sequence lol.
Pray. I had to though am not a prayer warrior. I always spoke these words Bishop Abioye says "cover my mistake and color my destiny"
Be confident! Mind u as a student u have a higher chance from my experience. They rarely approved b1/b2 except clergy or old chiefs or so...
