bbdd: He's currently the leading contender among the Republicans. The media hate campaign against him is not working sha. I don't care what the polls are saying... that guy can't be the next president. And there's no media hate against him... whatever sour affection he's getting is entirely his own making with that reckless mouth of his. |

phalanah: So for the delay of my Transcript I had my visa interview on Monday August 03 at the Lagos Consulate. After a very restless night, I got to the consulate at Walter Carrington at about 5:20am. My appointment was for 6:30am. I got into the Hall of Judgment by 7:30am. At this point, am so confidence about my interview question.
I was called to Window 12 around 8:00am. The VO was some middle-aged, white woman and the following conversation ensued: Me: Good morning , happy New Month ma. VO: Good morning. Place your left four fingers on the scanner. Me: After the finger print. VO: Where are u going too? Me: Harold Washington College in Chicago. VO: Who is your sponsor? Me: My Aunt. She’s a clinical pharmacy at university of Chicago, medical center. VO: which course do u want to study? Me: I said Electrical Engineering. VO: do u write any exam? Me: Yes, I wrote SAT and TOEFL. VO: What is your SAT score? Me: I said 1210 VO: Why Harold Washington College? Me: I was referred by Admission advisor at Illinois Institute of Technology(where I applied as a transfer student) I should complete my prerequisite course work at community college before transferring to Illinois Institute of Technology. VO: Since you are already studying Electrical Engineering at Yaba Tech, why are you going to study in the US without finishing your program here? Me: My program at Yaba Tech is a National Diploma and I wish to obtain my Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering in US.
She type for a while and she said I was not eligible for visa. I ask her that why, she said nothing. That I should reapply. VO: Can u pls place ur four fingers on the (didn't hear her but I knew she was talking about the fingerprint scanner) pls? Me: Placed four fingers on scanner and was staring at her... I knew she was done, but I didn't remove dem fingers until she said I should remove them.
VO: Where are you going in US? Me: Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland.
VO: How long is your course of study? Me: (for my mind, I be like 'beht why?' this girl no dey see komot eye?) 36 months
VO: What course? Me: MS in Project Management
VO: Who will be sponsoring you? Me: My uncle
VO: What does he do? Me: He's contracted to Ekiti State and Ondo State Government and he's into real Estate. He buys, sells and develops prop.. *Cuts

VO: Which one (with strong face) Me: (Me sef give am ogbeni, calm down face) GRE
VO: Can I see it? Me: (She just owned me at this stage cuz I was looking for the LovePeddler print out that was making out with one of my documents) Sorry ma, gimme a min
VO: LET ME SEE THE PRINT OUT! (I guess y'all understands why I used the caps here) Me: found it and gave it to her. (Her mind come down)
VO: okay good, Why this school? Me: Out of the schools that offered me admission, MSU is the only school that has its school of management accredited by Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business. While also going through the graduate research works, I came across an ongoing research by professor Ali Emdad that centers on Addressing Enterprise and Vendor issues in Data Center Infrastructure Management which is inline with my work. I contact... *cuts me*
VO: Where do you work? Me: I said Airtel NG, but was transferred there by one of their contracted outsourcing and facility managem...*cuts* (I for just use vendor easily)
VO: When did you Graduate? Me: Dec 2010
VO: What did you study as undergraduate? Me: Pure and Applied Physics

I though I already owned her here until she asked the question that killed me...
VO: What class would you be taking? Me: Project management class with focus on Information technology management. Listed 2 courses in this class *cuts*
VO: Unfortunately........................................ I no hear the rest Me: (With confidence level now below 10%) I just said the thank you and my crush on her died on the spot.
I don't know, but I think as a conditional admission student, I should have told her the 9 credit courses that would have qualified me for the major course instead of the major ones.
Thanks to Juntod, Innovativeame, Bigfrancis21, Slimmy and many others here that assisted in one way or the day and sorry for disappointing you guys.
Make I go clear my ish with my HR first, me that was thinking that I'd drop my resignation letter this week ehn.

ikuyinminu: So.. here is my transcript.. Very annoying and it got me down for awhile.
I was shivering the night before the day of the interview, I think it has more to do with the interview than the catarrh I got from kissing Bae. Momsy called the night to go buy Actifed *as if I go fit sleep o, for where I wake up for night still rehearsing*
It was a very breezy morning.. my uncle dropped me at the Lagos embassy with 'i don't like this people, u can't come here and achieve what you want, they always looking for what is not lost, see Banji.. I wish you the best'

How many schhols did you apply to? Me: I printed from the result portal, I applied to 2 other schools. Vo: which and did they admit you? Vo: you will see it in the blue form I am giving to you.
Well.. I scored 282.5 GRE and 76 TOEFL. I am Cisco Associate certified Network Engineer
Thanks guys for your continued support. I won't relent. I spoke with a friend that just left.. he said he didn't write any test and they never asked. Dunno where I got it wrong. But I am grateful to God first and everyone that support one way or the other.

Sorbital: Me: Good morning... With genuine smile and confidence
Vo: good morning... Your four left fingers on the scanner for verification
Me: places four fingers....here we go
Vo: pass your document please
Me: passes them
Vo: you are going to study
Me: yes, to pursue my Masters degree in Chemistry with interest areas in Air monitoring and electronic cigarette
Vo: why the degree
Me: so that I would be exposed with the various skills and techniques required to monitor the quality of both ambient and in door air, that way, I will be very knowledgeable about the extent of the pollutant that we are all exposed to...Above all, this masters degree would guarantee my appointment as a lecturer in the school where I obtained my BSc.
VO: looking in awe
Me: waited for him to ask question concerning the job guarantee but he didn't
Vo: How many schools did you apply to
Me: Four
VO: what are they
Me: TSU, MTSU, KFUPM and UW
VO: why the preference in MTSU
Me: Aside the fact that the Chemistry department is highly ranked I went thru their curriculum and discovered that the syllabus Covers most areas of Chemistry that interests me, but then, I was able to make contact with prof......... Who incidentally would be kick starting an air monitoring project on biogenic.....
vO: interrupted
How did you find about the school: actual, I cataloged using Princetonreview.com, grad sch.com and then search for chemistry journals in US, I thereafter streamline my search into schools that offer Masters degree in Chemistry with interest areas in Air monitoring, I ended up with few schools.
Vo: So why TSU and MTSU in the same state.
Me: After my review using Princeton review and graduate sch.com, it was a mere coincidence that the two schools who happen to fall into my scope are in the same state..
Vo: He browses to know how graduate schools are ranked...bla bla black
Vo: but the so so so and so sch ranks highly in Chemistry why didn't you chose them.
Me: I streamline my search into schools that have interest areas in air monitoring not just on General chemistry...
Vo: researches the internet; yeah I understand that your interest area is in air monitoring but you still have not told me why from other highly ranked schools, you concentrated on three schools in the same area.
Me: Actually it was two schools, the other two schools are not located in TN
Me: by this time, confidence don dey low
VO: you just tell me why your interest is in TN and that's just it.
Me: I insisted on my previous reason.
Vo: brought the blue form and passport and said what I didn't hear.
Me: I collected it but refused to go.
We were looking at each other eye ball to eye ball, I almost cried... I saw pity in his eyes yet I was praying for 12hour miracle...it didn't just happen. The security guy just came and convinced me out
That's my story..
My school resumes on 30th, wanna book another appointment... Don't wanna lose my GA..
Please brother, make una advise me Sorry about your delay. You claimed to have prepared so well for this interview, how come you didn't have anything to say about those schools in Texas. The moment she mentioned that the other schools where highly ranked too you shouldda known she wanted to hear exactly why you chose that particular school i.e. What makes it unique from the other highly placed schools. If you read my own interview transcript you'll see I was asked why I chose that particular school out of the others that offered just as fantastic flight training and the moment I mentioned the iPad, he cut me short and wanted to know more about the iPad. I further elaborated on what the iPad was issued for etc. I really don't think it's because you chose schools in the same state. You just couldn't elaborate on why those particular schools. My 2cents... Differ your admission till spring...yes I know you don't wana lose your GA but without a visa the admission and GA is as good as poo. At least now you have some first hand experience on what a visa interview tastes like. You can't prepare enough for a visa interview because you never know what info a VO may use as a determining factor. ...Did you pray and fast at all? |

North miami is a lot cheaper but you'll have transportation to deal with. Apartments are really expensive in miami. wizzy11: I think I can now share. To God be all the Glory and praise. I finally arrived Yankee yesterday after a long trip.
I would start by saying, it's all by God's grace. Not what u think u know or what money you have.
I'm sharing this testimony and that's all I want to do. Because of you who seems disturbed, Abt admission, scholarship, and visa Delay.
I would summarize as much as possible.
I got admitted for an MSc degree, got a scholarship (covers tuition + stipend), Information is great, but the key to all is God. It may interest you to know my score was 287(gre) TOEFL (91) Got admitted to all the schools I applied to anyway. A brief profile: PMP (pmi), itil foundation (v3), itil intermediate (service ops), ccna, ccnp, lean six-sigma(yellow belt), 2years work experience.
Now what? I got delayed visa twice, got it on a 3rd attempt. Same abj. Guess what, all this happened in May (a week after but put on A.p which ran into june), June, July. Your surprise: I was placed on A.p on 2nd attempt b4 d delay( don't use deny, a man with dreams calls it delay). To shock you, Same lady who delayed 2nd was same that approved on 3rd attempt. And on 3rd attempt interview did not exceed 3 minutes. (But truly speaking, God settled it in the spirit. And the Heavens was all over on that day.) I actually did not know Abt this thread until after my first delay. In all, trust God, my case was a mix up though, honestly speaking I changed sponsors, using a different sponsor from what I had on my I-20( cos sponsor was out of country on conference). He returned and I supplied his SoA again.
Truth is, never let people run u down, or have a pity party on your case. Never give up, impossible becomes possible if you don't give up, or retire to people's opinion. We all were not born same day, so who tell u that what happens to twin A, would happen to twin B. Hear what people say, but a man with dreams never give up. Some had said I should defer n wait till next year. Many said I should forget it. I did it a 3rd time, not looking at their faces, or standing on their opinions, but I knelt before God in prayers. So he settled it.
My sincere advice is. Work hard, get information, get enlightened, but kneel before God who perfects it all.
Never ever let people talk you down in a course you believe in and believe is just.
I finally arrived yesterday and it's indeed a blessed country. I'm a reserved person, so pardon my not being so active. Work as well was demanding. Just work and pray. Above all be truthful to thy own self, first and then hand it all to God, knowing you can't help yourself.
Thanks to great guys who have been contributing to this thread, Profoja, Slimmy, and many others. Your advice has helped a lot of folks. (My self inclusive).
One last thing I observed is that, many folks who sometimes come in here have not really taken time to read n research. For instance, you want to go to ETSU, but you have not spent at least 20 to 30 hours reading and finding out about the school, the professors in your dept. The application requirements and all required details. Some folk nicknamed me Google, because, I always told him Google, when he ask me for some information which I know he ought to know or have an idea of. Thank God for your life, strength and resilience. Hard work surely pays! |

bigfrancis21: I am surprised to hear that just as you are too. The only type of credit card a bank would give without an SSN is the secured credit card that requires the customer to deposit their own money, make expenses and pay back. Once the customer obtains an SSN, the secured credit card could be converted to an unsecured one (i.e. regular credit card).
I have told him to mention the type of card he says his bank gave him without an SSN, if not a secured credit card. It is no secret. Nothing is hidden in America.
I'm sure Stewee knows his credit card is the secured credit card, he is only delaying admitting so. It is not!!! I have a normal credit card bruh! |
