@Diluminati and Pa1982 Y'all have been quoting Paul since. Now is just a man. Tell me one book of the bible that was not written by man. 2 Tim 3.16. all scriptures  are inspired by God and put down by men. Now I know where this is going. I will not indulge you. It is obvious what you are.

Since when are Paul's Letters the Word of God?
Those are the epistles that you are reading in the new testament.

@Bernimoor. it is clearer by the time that you are either a baby in christ or an antichrist. Refer to the boldened in your post above. what do you mean by ''speak with your God''. bet you didn't know that that one will give you away. It sounds like what people of other faith would say. Tell us then, who is your own God. My God is the God of the universal, the almighty, the I AM I AM. JEHOVAH. The bible says in 2 cor 2:11, that we are not ignorant of the devil's devices. Maybe you are a member of one of those sects that go around with all sorts of bells and garments and only chant in place of speaking in tongues. Concerning this issue, I will leave you to your ignorance according to the commandment of the bible since you are always talking about commandment. 1 cor 14:28. ''But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant''.
if you read down to verse 39  (Wherefore brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.) You will find out that you are only a confusion peddler. bringing half truth with you to arguments.  you keep posting bible verses out of context and you say that I have not backed up my posts with bible verses. It also means that you are very lazy, you can't even open the verses that I have written to check them out, you won't open the books recommended. You want everything to be served for you like Fr Evangel has been doing pasting all the words down for you to see.

You have been reading the bible, (as you claim,) you don't seem to understand, get a book that will help open up your understanding, you are talking of brain washing. In My church, it is a common saying that readers are leaders. we are always encouraged to read books. You spoke of timothy understanding the bible at a little age read 2 tim 4:13  ''The cloke  that  I left  at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchment''. ypu will also see that in 2 tim 1:5 that Timothy's mother Eunice and Grand mother Lois were people of faith and have brought him up in the way of the Lord. Even the Epistles that Paul wrote to the churches were actually diluting the Word to their understanding level through counsel, teachings and reproof. Paul was a man of books. As you see here, he may have left the collections of books with  brother Carpus to also read. it was said of Paul  in acts 26:24 that much learning has made him mad.

I don't think, speaking of bible or knowledge of it that you are even close to me looking at the level of your arguments. I have two electronic bibles in my computer, I have a bible  and a bible dictionary in my phones. I also have at least three format of audio bibles both in  mp3 format on cd and computer not to talk of several hard copies that I have in my possession. I have also attended Bible schools. So what do you bring to the table but empty cynicism, contempt and obvious ignorance of the subject matter. I would rather be joining issues with Fr Evangel, Joeagbaje, Modele and other similar and good understanding minds here.

The fact that you have posted a few bible quote doesn't fool me. 2 cor 11: 14 best describes you in 2 cor 11: 10 -16 As the truth of Christ is in me ,  no man shall stop me  of this boasting  in the regions  of Achaia .
11 Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
12 But what I do, that I will do, that  I may cut off occasion from them which desire  occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we
13 For  such are false apostles, deceitful workers , transforming themselves  into  the apostles  of Christ.
14 And  no  marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.15 Therefore it is no  great thing  if  his  ministers  also  be transformed  as  the ministers of righteousness ; whose  end  shall be  according  to their works.
16 I say again, Let  no man think  me  a fool;  if otherwise, yet  as  a fool  receive  me, that  I  may boast myself  a little.

Obviously, you want occassions, I ain't giving it to you. Cheers!

JUST HEAR YOURSELF,ARE YOU SAYING THAT GODS HOLY SPIRIT IS CONFUSING?

THEN  FOLLOW THE 'COMMAND' TO 'KEEP SILENCE' OR REMAIN SILENCE, SPEAK WITH YOUR GOD ONLY' IN SILENCE, MAYBE FROM YOUR MIND, AT LEAST EVEN WHEN YOU DONT OPEN YOUR MOUTH, GOD READS YOUR MIND.

BUT REMEMBER WHAT PAUL SAYS;

PLS PLS PLS, LETS FOLLOW THE COMMAND.

1 COR 14;11,12,33.

11 Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me.

12 Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.
(33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.)

Bernimore. I'd like to think that you sincerely want to learn.I am not always given to arguments. I have recommended a book (Tongues; beyond the upper room by kenneth Hagin), try and read it. some of the questions about wether Jesus spoke in tongues is also addressed there. If you lack understanding of algebra in maths perhaps, you go for a book that teaches algebra with simplicity. You don't harrass all your classmates about.

Fr Evangel said concerning reading Christian literature that , oh no, the bible is the standard!. But if you don't understand the bible nko. Also, you know in those days in SU or other pentecostal meetings, people will just get up and say ''thus says the Lord, '' then start saying some things in prophesy (when the spirit is upon then although some of them also abused it) This kind of things was what paul was teaching about from the grace of God's wisdom upon is life. You can't just stand up in a gathering and say '', Thus says the Lord'' and start to speak in tongues. you won't be edifying anyone. instead, Paul teaches that you hold your peace. Now see, If you could hold your peace under that circumstances, why do some of you think you couldn't hold your tongue even when you get the urge in the spirit to speak in tongues. So, simply, if you think speaking in tongues is wrong, no matter what anointing you fall under, you won't speak.

Except that some of you are babes in christianity, matured christians would understand some of the these things. Imagine some people saying in another thread thatit is not biblical for GOs to hold on to their post without making it rotational. Were there churches in the form we have it now in the bible of those days. That is why, Jesus gave christians the Holy Ghost -the teacher. He is the source of wisdom or the spirit of divine wisdom. Paul was commanding the churches of his time and wanted order in the house of God. Paul also taught that it is good to be alone. Because of the fire he had for the work of God and probably because of how the institution of marriage was run in those days, he himself counselled. (1 cor 7;27, 33) But you also know that the bible taught that two are better than one, and that he that finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour of the Lord. Prov 18;22.

Wisom is profitable to direct.

@BEERNIMORE

what you're missing here is that. You only need interpretation when talking to men in tongues in form of preaching ,prophecy or exhortation .

But when you pray to God personally ,he needs no interpretation . Hope it answers your question.
Thank you.

Also want to add by asking those professing to have gained the so called right tongue if they have ever interpreted. It is not enough to come here and preach text book kind of tongue without having interpreted. Let us also remember that the ability to interpret is also a gift of the Holy Ghost. it is called the gift of interpretation of tongues. Bible teaches that men should convert after good giftl. if the gift of interpretation is not manifested or converted after nowadays it doesn't make tongues fake.
Christianity EtcRe: Stop It! No One Spoke In Unknown Tongues In The Bible! by stildude(m): 8:38pm On Feb 23, 2012
@ayodeb. Please I would like to point out to you that the main purpose of tongue was not so that other men could understand us speak to God in prayer. Please refer to other posts by some persons with references to the bible on this subject. After that one off=thing when the people spoke in a language that was understood by foreigners in the new testament, we don't have much record of it happening again in the bible. Paul's task was to bring the message of salvation to non jews and he didn't have to speak in their language all the time to accomplish his mission.

@ Fr Evangel. Like someone said earlier the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. The gift of tongues can manifest in any form. If Paul had not laid his hands on the early christians to speak, today some people would have been criticizing laying on of hands in Holy Ghost baptism. Another case is when the 'anointing' is moving in the church, some people will resist it while others are falling to the ground. If you don't accept that speaking is right, even though you have received certain measure of the spirit at salvation, you may never speak in tongues. The Bible says, ''my spirit will no longer strive with man''Gen 6:3. I have a book on my shelf right now which I would like to recommend to you in case you have not read it yet. '' Tongues: Beyond the upper room'' by Kenneth Hagin. Don't view the things of the spirit through the eye of any doctrine.

Cheers!

Interesting, i realy read every thing posted but this made an interesting read.

Am certain its a gift given by the holy spirit both unknown and known(so poster is mistaken), and also certain that some people fake it, peharps thats the angle the poster is comming from.

I attended a crusade many years back, of a now thriving and big church somewhere in ikeja. i will not mention the name here. i dont believe in slander. After the crusade new members were welcomed, we filled some forms e.t.c, then they set out in groups to pray for us individually,,,,,the aim of the prayer was so we would repent and speak in tounges.

i was much younger and so badly wanted to speak in tounges, i tot it was so special, with an open heart and mind i put myself into the spirit of the prayer. At a point the lady went, 'just open your mind and say anything, anything at all that comes into your mind, spew, speaketh, just say any thing' and she was skabashing all the way. When the prayer seemed to drag for ever, I said a few boboboske, whatever so the lady felt triuphant that her work was done and the prayer stoped with her thanking our Lord for giving me the gift.   I was so disgusted.

I dislike self deciet, i hate decieving people not to talk of myself. how will i just begin to say anything ,,,,,was that their definition of tounges. to mumble mumbo jumbo. Well i never went to that church again and lost alot of respect for people that supposedly had that gift, becos i realised that some might just be 'saying anything'.

Till today unfortunately or rather sadly, i have still not got that gift(though i would love to) but 1 cor 14 gives me comfort that there are other more important things in christianity, tounge speaking is not a burining issue. i should focus on the gifts the holy spirit has given me and make the best of them.

We forget the same paul also said he would rather we remain like him UNMARRIED so we would have time for the things of God. Celibacy is also special like gifts of tounges, but not every one can have it.

PEACE peeps
I quiet agree with you that some people just say anything just to look grown or visited by the holy Ghost in church settings. However, The person that speaks in tongues speaks myseries. If you are trying to make some sense out of what you speak or hear others speak, you may never receive the gift of tongues. The lady in question as you mentioned asked you guys to open your mind. I think, she was trying to lead you to the place of receiving. Like babies, if you don't attempt to speak, you may never speak. A baby does not wait to understand a language before babbling it out. You, not having received the gift may also have to do with your mindset or belief. Some people are waiting to see cloven tongues, mighty rushing wind, or dove before they believe they have the gift. Though at times there experiences may be gotten, they are not always the norm. It is not for you to understand what you are speaking as it is not unto men but unto God. I believe from your post that you are a matured christian. You should know that the spirit prays through us when we speak in unknown tongues what we nowadays call praying in the Holy Ghost. Refer to Romans 8:26.
Cheers!

''This is carnal, and not in any way related to the gift of tongues at Pentecost which was used to relay the Gospel to lost sinners.  When Abraham was old, he sent his eldest servant, Eleazar, back to his native land to find a Christian wife for Isaac.   Eleazar took with him, as gifts, many expensive items and ten camels, and set out for Mesopotamia.  Notice that the PURPOSE of the the "gifts" was to bring back a BRIDE for Isaac.  If Eleazar would have come back without the bride, he would have failed.  This is a good illustration of how foolish Charismatics are today.  Pentecostals make the gifts an END in themselves''Many contributors here have observed your diabolical motives in creating this discourse. Many intelligent replies have been  given, However, I want to quickly reply to the boldened. In Acts 1: 8, it stated that you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you. Speaking in tongues, contrary to what you see or feel does not denote the end for true worshippers which the Bible says must worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Signs and wonders are common phenomena in pentecostal body today because of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit which is evident in Speaking in unknown tongues or language. Their spiritual man is edified or empowered to perform exploits which include signs and wonders and boldness in evangelism which enlarges the kingdom. Since you argue from the view point of philosophy and theology, I would like to recommend a book - God's General to you. Some of the workers of powerful acts in that book fought or resisted the teaching or experience of tongues until they were overwhelmed. Example is Smith Wiggolsworth whose wife accepted the gift before he did. After the tongue experience by Smith, signs and wonders became ordinary in his life.

Also, the poster mentioned immitating some things in the bible and leaving other things out. Let me tell you that latter rain christians are to perform more than what were written in the Bible. Jesus siad that greater works shall we do. I tell you with the new order of baptism of fire or outpouring of the Holy Ghost termed the 'the rain' Men have become gods here on earth.

2. presumes that the groundnut pyramid of the north sustained Nigeria (She has lost touch with history)

3. That Islam or how the Hausa-Fulani practice it is not a problem

4. She dares to cast aspersion on the nobel laureat

5. Now Boko Harm is going to get her (she is way too educated for their liking)

Intelligent and articulate article though. I'd Like to read or hear more sides of the northerners. Great and bold presentation. I would also like to admit that there are many truths in her write up.
EducationRe: Ss3 Student Opts For Pidgin At Oyo Assembly Probe by stildude(m): 12:24pm On Feb 16, 2012
Yes, I agree with those that have seen through the veil of tribalism in this issue. However, it was definitely started by the Oyo house of assembly in the first place. A house of yorubas sitting on a yoruba vs ibo matter. what will you expect. They were all quick to paint the ss3 boy bad. Even the miserable report is not balanced. One of the house members who tried to see things from a different angle was shouted down by his colleagues. I wonder if any of those members would have reacted differently had it been their child that was the one humilliated like that. Now NBA Oyo wants to fight the fight on behalf of the teacher. No one is condenming the  babaric act of the teacher. His action (if you could call it punishment at all) was tribally motivated. he has been beating other boys before the igbo boy's turn, but when he saw the igbo boy, he had to double the cane to increase the boy's pain. Even when the boy fell to the ground, would he leave him alone, no, he had to flog him so hard till his skin broke and would only be satisfied until he saw the teenager's blood.

Howbeit, the Father of the boy went a bit far with the shooting stuff.

For those feigning surprise at an ss3 student not speaking the queen's kind of english, be real. it didn't start today, in my time, girls spoke better english than most of the kids from boys school. But surprisingly, when it came to inter school english competition, boys almost always won. There was this girl in my street that used to intimidate us with english, but when WAEC results were out, I flogged her so badly. You must understand that there is practical physics and biology, but no practical english in school. Only theories and filling the blank. It gets worse if you communicate at home or 'area'  in your native tongue.  You would be surprised that the boy in question would pass english very well in his exams. moreso, he may have been intimidated by the audience. So many adults will freeze and loose their communication ability when it comes to public speaking, howmuch more a boy. I also didn't like how one of the respondents in the report said govt should do better things with its money. I would like to know the english or other subjects status of her children first. wayo woman!. All they want to achieve is to embarass the boy and his father mostly because he is a non yoruba.

I served and taught in Oyo, tewure to be precise, all the students in the ss3 class could not comprehend simple expressions in english apart from one kid that usally come in from ogbomoso. Not even the teachers or some of the LAUTECH students I came across. You don't speak yoruba nothing for  you with lauthech girls. As if beating  a teacher is new in Oyo, back then in 2000/2001, students from one secondary school close to the Lautech used to beat up their teachers, they even used voodoo to brutalize teahers there. They were very feared even by the Lautech students.

Now this is one of the stories I see in American movies or read about where whites and blacks storm the court house with signs defending their interests. in this case. the yorubas are whites, and the ibos are black. let's see which side public sentiment will sway, unfortunately for the ibos, like the blacks, they are at a disadvantage here. The whites (yorubas) own the judges, the assembly, the NBA and the social media like Nairaland, and they are playing at home. Will there be an offset?
PoliticsRe: The Butchers Of Nigeria - Wole Soyinka by stildude(m): 10:56am On Jan 24, 2012
Unlike many two faced leaders in the west, Soyinka has come out to hit the real issues  on the head. People like Bakare and Tinubu are more concerned with what opportunities abound in the persent situation in their quest for political aggrandizement, consolidating on wild blind followership instead of proffering solutions or at least speaking up against the unseen forces that is holding us to ransome in our own land.

This very brilliant piece of write-up  in some ways mirrors what I posted on NL some time ago. Many people will put all the blame on welfare issues, corruption, govt's inadequacies, etc., when in reality, much more than those are the real issues of  the agenda of some powerful northern elites  and islamic imans deliberately breeding a force of evil that threaten to destroy us as a nation. Some say the agenda of BH is religious, others say it is political. I say they are one and the same thing. Islam being used as a weapon of terror to actualize specific political agenda. For instance, the extremist are conscious of the  wild fire of christianity that threatens to de-populate their faithfuls. To them, it is a deadly contest between islam and christianity, and this christian sunami must be stopped with any means neccessary. The politicians also have a stake, if this invasion of christianity continues, with Nigeria gradually enthrenching a democratic system, they may fail to hold on to power as we known northerners are known to be swayed mayorly by religious sentiments in political exercises. In the game of number of which is the new system, the country may never revert to our historical years of power hijack by the north. Hence,  a scanario analysis and planning went into action. Powerful northerners facilitated the setting up and financing of islamic army now terrorists to actualize their agenda.

For real, Bakare should return to status quo  and steer clear from partisan politics so that he could without biase address the problem of this nation, a nation I have no doubt in my mind he loves.

I will also be bold to say that, apart from northerns, the westerners benefit from the massive corruption going on in this country. The yoruba language  like hausa is freely spoken in our govt offices and even some private ones like banks. Even outside of the natural geography of the people. That is one way they have bled the nation and corrupted institutions from working. Some many westerners will either just sit on the fence or take a silent side with the north. So believe me when I say that Soyinka is one Yoruba man in a million. He may be able to speak freely without fear or favour or prejudice because he doesn't fatten himself from govt allocation or enrich himself through evil corruption from which most western elites thrive.

1. Is anyone not born to be great?

Everyone born is born with a potential. Whether that potential will be fulfilled is a different story. First of all the parents. Then the environment. Then later when he/she is old enough, the kid. Considering all the randomness involved in this, it's difficult to say one has a destiny.

Would you say those that ended up in the WTC had that as their destiny? Wasn't it evil actions that led them there? My point is if your belief in destiny only succeeds in making you irresponsible towards personal development and making a positive contribution to the world around you, then f**k it,
I Mentioned the boldened before. The WTC victims chose their career, chose their location hence ultimately decided their fate. I'll tell you guys a story that has been told several times before.  A man died and went to heaven. He met with angel gabriel and asked him a question. He asked  who the greatest war general that ever walked the face of the earth is. Angel Gabriel replied ''that's easy'' That man, pointing to a particular tomb stone. The man was surprised and thought honestly that the angel was wrong and he didn't hide it from him. He told the angel that he knew the man and he lived close to him on earth and that he was a poor plumber. Then, the angel replied '' it is because, he never got into the army hence he couldn't accomplish the destiny of the greatest warrior on earth''
So guys, you see, if you are born to be great or to become perhaps the greatest musician on earth but you never did develop those inherent talents wired in you to make you the greatest musician, rather, under pressure from your parents, you went and studied law. You may like to sing at home or whistle in your chamber. but that is how close you gonna get to being a musician.

Everyone is destined to be great, but somehow, somewhere some changed that glorious destiny to something shameful. Why not! we can change our destiny it back to what it was initially created to be- pleasant. Every child born on earth is not endowed differently from another, we came in empty handed. Some become achievers while some underachievers, yet othesr become nonachievers. If destiny is seen as a destination for instance, we are going there no matter what but by our thoughts and actions. Change your thoughts and actions, you will change your destiny. Some said ''change your thoughts, and you will change your words, change your words, and you will change your habits. Change your habit, you will change your character. Change your character, and your will change your destiny.'' So every destiny can be changed.

To all those atheists especially naija fols who come to christian fora looking for a fight. co'mon don't you know that most atheists became one opeonly (even though otherwise secretly) cos of issues they have with God concerning some misfortunes in their lives. They don't believe in God, Yet they blame God for the circumstances of their lives. Others, mostly Whites, don't want to accept the fact that the black man, asians, and other came from the same human root as the 'precious' white man. some of the foremost atheists were german and Russian scholars who I think didn't want to accept the fact that all races have the same forefathers becos they upheld the superiority of the man man. Yet we have Naija folks feeling educated by slamming anything that has a God sticker on it. I will put up a few quotes for your digest= ''Even the most admirable of atheists is nothing more than a moral parasite, living his life based on borrowed ethics. This is why, when pressed, the atheist will often attempt to hide his lack of conviction in his own beliefs behind some poorly formulated utilitarianism, or argue that he acts out of altruistic self-interest. But this is only post-facto rationalization, not reason or rational behavior''. -Vox Day ; ''I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God''.-Abraham Lincoln ; ''A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism, but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion''. -Francis Bacon ; ''God will not take shelter behind a jugglery of logic or metaphysics. He is neither a schoolman nor theologian, but our Father in Heaven''. –George MacDonald; ''According to the teaching of our Lord, what is wrong with the world is precisely that it does not believe in God. Yet it is clear that the unbelief which he so bitterly deplored was not an intellectual persuasion of God’s non-existence. Those whom he rebuked for their lack of faith were not men who denied God with the top of their minds, but men who, while apparently incapable of doubting him with the top of their minds, lived as though he did not exist''. -John Baillie lastly this : ''You think you are too intelligent to believe in God. I am not like you''. -Napoleon Bonaparte
Christianity EtcRe: What The Bible Say About Sports! by stildude(m): 2:24pm On Oct 19, 2011
In my view there is nothing wrong with indulging in sporting activities. I am a spirit filled xtian, yet I still create time for sports. I have a 3rd degree black belt in karate, equally grounded in judo, taekwondo and kickboxing. The fact that these sports- commonly categorized as martial arts- look harmful to players does not make it wrong or sinful. It is more like playing chess which is mental exercise or competition.  Martial art is both mental and physical. Having said that, the manner, intention and others associated with practicing or competing may be called to question. If you are young in christianity, some of the things you will notice around sporting faciltities can be a 'put off' - indecent dressing, promiscuity, flirting, anger, vengeance, cheating, even diabolism are very prevalent. That is even when you a competing athlete and not just looking to learn a few moves or grow some muscles.

If you are matured enough, I am sure you can cope. In any case, even in a normal secular work environment today, these things are also very prevalent. Not indulging in sports does not make you any more spiritual. It is a mindset. I used to attend a church where women don't wear ear rings, makeups or pants, yet, I kept confessing my sins everything two days. My christian life changed when i understood that it is by grace i am saved not by my own strength, and that our righteosness is like a filthy rag before God. When  grace comes upon, you would be able to remain blameless in life's encounter. you won't have to force yourself to live righteously. The thing is that, most ministers of the gospel are important persons in the public domain, and can't be seen wrestling or boxing (i am sure Papa Adeboye stopped boxing when he was called into ministry) but the rest of the people not called may pursue  careers in sports if they want to. That is my view. wisdom is profitable to direct. Sometimes I feel I am a stronger, more energetic person when I feed mind, my body, and my spirit. by feeding my mind, I read stuffs and engage in thoughts and ideas creation and learn new things, by feeding my body, I engage in physical training. By feeding my spirit, i engage in the word digest, listen to anointed tapes and preachers and read christian books. I tell you I feel I may live forever!

HealthRe: Please Help Me Quit Drinking by stildude(m): 7:10pm On Aug 01, 2011
Well, if you try to stop drinking just like that, it might be a bit difficult. The way to go about it is to see yourself differently. Reprogram your mind. See yourself as a non-drinker. Don't force it. Every time the urge to consume alcohol comes, say to urself, 'I am not a drinker' I hate alcohol. If you can't avoid it, and you fall, it's ok, Still continue to rewire your mind. After a while, you will look back and notice you haven't drank in a long time.

Now that's one way to go about it. The second way is to be genuinely born again, Accepting Jesus a ur saviour. confess your sins and fosake them. The help of the holy spirit is required in this regard. This was how I quit smoking and drinking. Within 2 days, I noticed I didn't have appetite for any of them. I have been free for years now. The problem with No 2 is that that power to quit alcohol that you receive is like an anti virus program that deletes both own files and viruses. That power will also kill the lovelust you have for the girl. smiley

PoliticsRe: Islamic Banking: Christian Group Calls For Bakare's Suspension From Can by stildude(m): 8:52pm On Jul 27, 2011
POTUT:
Once upon a time, all humans could worship a God under the same roof. Then they broke up into two and called themselves different names and worshiped differently, with different values.

In Nigeria, the one group is fond of destroying the building of the other group with impunity, and this has gone on for many years without reprieve to the group that falls victim most of the time.

Now, another dimension is being added to it: they want to separate where they keep their monies.

Would the violence-prone group not also destroy the buildings where the other group keeps its monies, thereby decimating them completely with frequently orchestrated attacks?

Does anyone have a comment?
If the SCSN are not focusing on spiritual matters, that is not Christians problem because our believe is different from theirs. Thank God you know it was a man with power and influence such as Joseph of Arimetea that was able to stand before Pontius Pilate to demand for the body of Christ.
So what is the connection between the demand of the body of Christ and the demand of CAN for non-Islamic banking?. If any Christian is killed in the North or Muslim state CAN has the right to demand for the body which is part of their functions.
Do you know the numbers of Christians families that can not feed in a day, suffering and need help and CAN cannot come to their Aid ?.These are the rolls CAN should be fighting for, not Islamic banking.
Please do not mislead Christians, We respect CAN but they should lead Christians in a right direction to honour God's Name.

Dikyson, so you are telling me that if one day SCSN succeeds in pressing for a law that forbids Christians to erect buildings for worship in this country, CAN should still focus on the spiritual. Well, FYI, spirit and spiritual are two different things. Also you think CAN should resign its role to the grieving mother or the undertaker. Na your cohort go dey demand for and collect dead bodies in this country. If the federal govt can't respond to the case of those who can't feed themselves why CAN. (Do you even know how much churches spend in alleviating the plight of poor or underprivileged, including prisoners, and other institutions. Unlike SCSN whose people are beggers from kano to lagos to Benin and PH. They are every where, they are trained in the amajiri schools and let loose on southern people. Stop applying wrong logic and reasoning to have your way. CAN is fighting a good fight!
PoliticsRe: Islamic Banking: Christian Group Calls For Bakare's Suspension From Can by stildude(m): 10:45am On Jul 27, 2011
There are different between true Christians and Church goers, what connection does banking issue has with Christianity. CAN should focused on spiritual issue affecting Christians not banking issue , please give what is Caesar to Caesar and what is God to God. If you know your goal is to fight for non-existence of Islamic banking please carry on but don't lure true Christians into it.

My reply is to the boldened. Pls what do think about this except THE Supreme Council for Shari'ah in Nigeria (SCSN) says it is set to resist the opposition of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to the implementation of Islamic Banking in Nigeria. http://allafrica.com/stories/201107260666.html. Why didn't the SCSN focus on their spiritual matters. Some posters either lack understanding or are too naive and hypocritical to see the truth and say it on relevant issues. CAN is an association of Christian body, am sure has among its objectives to look out for the welfare of christians and members in the country. Can you truly divorce politics from religion?. In the bible, it was a man with power and influence such as Joseph of Arimetea that was able to stand before Pontius Pilate to demand for the body of Christ. I am sure a muslim association would have done much worse if the reverse was the case. Why all these brands of northern this, sharia that, islam this on public matters in the same country. Or are we in a talibani system of govt?  I used to respect Bakare alot, But to publicly condemn one of his own cos of political selfish aggrandisement is really terrible. Or is he truly one of theirs?
My friend don't blur the truth. The catholic church even though, being a religious body is one of the most politically active body in the world. Administrators even learn from their very effective and efficient administrative structure and system. All those northern political forum including Arewa of which Ciroma is a leader that seek to enthrone kings are actually fighting not only for political interests but also for religious interest of their members and people.
