obongtunji: I had similar experience 3 times, but turst me i didn't fall for any, let me tell you how the last one happened in Abuja. I came out of the car as soon as I stopped my car, the attendant asked me "Oga how much fuel" I told him full tank, after resetting the pump he was actually pumping the fuel but gently because he didn't press the nozzle very well, so it was dispensing very slowly, I knew he was up to something before you know it another woman came to ask if I wanted injector cleaner and I told her no but she engaged me in irrelevant stories, after the guy dispensed #100, he removed the nozzle and placed it back to the pump claiming they changed the power source from generator to phcn, I saw it clearly that it was #100. After resetting the pump he later dispensed #4000 fuel he now said including the first one which was #1000, that was where I started shouting on him and told him I was aware of all his tricks, he couldn't say a word, his colleague in crime started begging me to pay what I said he dispensed, but I made sure I talked sense into their heads. Please guys you should watch out when you want to buy fuel........lopOne Total station attendant tried this on me recently. I was sure i saw N100 and the guy claimed it was N1000 after he reset it claiming he changed power source and had started pumping the difference which will now be 3k since i requested for 4k fuel. I asked if power was cut off from his colleague at another pump, he said he just returned and he in turn asked the guy close to him who said yes that power was cut off momentarily. From their eyes, I knew they were lying so I said, well if I confirm power was actually cut off, I will pay the whole 4k I requested. so I sent the guy with me to go inside the mini shop to confirm, and they said that at no time was power terminated. At that point, I grew angry and all of them were pleading. I had to draw from within not to engage the guy physically. I gave him what he had dispensed and drove off to refuel at another place. Sometimes, they might just engage you in a conversation and pump you fuel without wiping off the last figure or point to your tire that it needs more air, and carry our their trick. they used this on my wife once at one mini NNPC station. |
ekwah: smhThis is the kind of mentality I am refering to- Leaving the message to attack the messenger. Even the way you respond to other people's opinion shows your low menatal state. Apart from politicians and bokoharamites, the native attire thing in business setting is fast eroding. People like you are the ones who oppose change and are swept off by it as you become irrelevant. |
Bishop Oyedepo Was Pursuing Me With Sword In My Dreams ––Kidnapper Confesses The little 2-year-old girl kidnapped from the children church of Living Faith Church in Ota, Ogun State, South West Nigeria has been found. The girl, known as Praise, was brought to church on Sunday morning by her parents. She is now around four years old. Praise was reportedly sold to a woman in Kano. She was recovered from the woman who bought her after the man that kidnapped her confessed. The kidnapper, while confessing, said he was struck with a strange disease after kidnapping Praise. He also became blind. In addition to this, he said he was always seeing the founder of the church, Bishop David Oyedepo, pursuing him with a sword in his dream, hence his decision to confess his sin. Bishop Oyedepo said the self-confessed kidnapper was taken to a branch of Winners church by his wife.

Anvaller: [b]It's unfortunate that some people are hell bent on advocating for suits as official attire. This is a height of inferiority complex. U have given up to the white man and in ur brains, u can never initiate or innovate anything. In ur brains, all u have to do is just follow the white man. Instead of us to be discussing how to encourage or enforce wearing more smart traditional attires, u guys prefer not to think or innovate anything of ur own, instead u just want to abandon ur own stuff and copy white man's initiatives. We can never get anywhere this way until u start thinking with ur own brains and creating ur own brands.Let's face reality, Do you really think the so called african attire is better than the Chinese, Japs, or even Persians?. Still, these people have embraced globalization in every area of their life including the so called white man's clothes. The suit is still the most business-like attire in the global scheme. Nigerians have refused to move forward just because they will not drop hundreds of years of archaic and unproductive cultures and mentality including child marriage. I call that stupid pride. We copy the white man in almost everything even in their governance, yet, their mode of dressing is not good enough for us. One of these days, an african leader especially from Nigeria will be tripped by his own parachute in UN meeting. Then I hope we will change our mentality. |
Well about IP Address, "To lift an autumn hair is no sign of great strength, to see the moon and the sun is no sign of great sight, and to hear the noise of thunder is no sign of great hearing" sun Tsu. Anybody can google what IP address is and knowing what it means is no sign of great intellect. If you consider Mtn, Etisalat and Glo as providers and Iphones, Laptops, and android tabs as gadgets or devices, we will still arrive at the same conclusion. if IP addresses are listed based on gadget and service providers and no two are the same, then if you use an Ipad with a glo sim, and you also have a lap top with an mtn network, maybe you are using an android with an etisalat sim, then you may have three IP IDs. I don't claim to know all (anyways someone has taken that ID here on Nairaland already). This is not uncommon in Nigeria. Hey boys let's quit fighting Ok, You live in the USA and I am not a Politician. If you refer to my first post on this thread, you will know what my position is. Not like I condone excesses in the display of the powers of first ladies at any level. I just thought it wasn't right to isolate and attack PEJ alone whereas, many more are doing it even Amaechi's wife and several others in Nigeria. But instead of Articulating your own positions, you guys started attacking personalities. which I feel is not intelligent. You guys are right it seems we've got nothing else to do or talk about apart from the lives of the elites. Let's lay this to rest, after all we are all men I figure. Another thing that annoys me is when Nigerians in diaspora quickly write Nigerian at home off as ignorant and stupid and say things like "that there is no hope for Nigeria". Many of us have also lived or travelled abroad. Even one time speakers of house left Europe for Politics in Nigeria. We all know what became of him. Let's not be quick to judge. Nigeria is our home and we should be proud of her. Inspite of how many innocent lives have been lost in America no thanks to freedom of gun ownership, most of Americana are still fighting gun control laws and you can't blame them. it is in their history. We, also sometimes have opinions different from conventional views because of our history. Brothers we are and God Bless! |

tundamartin:Boy stop lying! you were among those pro Ameachi youth looking for a fight at PH airport. what do you mean IP address when there is glo, mtn, etisalat, iphones, laptops, android, etc. |
Let's expose who are the real hirelings here. A quick scan of most of anti -PEJ respondents profile's revealed a lot. Hassman : 1 post, and it was a reply and targeted at PEJ Ptolomes: 12 posts, 1st post on current topic Amasu: 4 posts, 3 of them on PEJ 1 deleted and all 3 are replies. Abikubu: 3 posts, 1st and 2d post on pej, all posts are replies. Danpatrick: 2 posts both on PEJ, both replies Tundamartin: 3 posts, 1st on topic responding to me. Adeogunshia: 3 posts, all on politics and all concerning the Goodlucks. From these statistics, it is very obvious that most of you are not intelligent enough to come up with your own fresh opinion. Always replying to other people's opinion, that also make you pessimistic and negative critics. It also shows that likely more than 3 handles are used by one person. which means, you are duplicating IDs with most likely the intention to sway public opinion for your paymasters. well, I will tell you this. I have been here a little longer than you and can tell you that the game of numbers on Nairaland does nothing to affect the majority of real Nigeria. Check out previous threads on the last pre -presidential election debate on this forum, and also the missing child in winners chapel. Though a lot of noise was made here, in the final outcome, the unbiased truth prevailed and haters were once again losers. As for me, I am not a member of any party. not from rivers state, not a member of vikings or seadogs, and earns a decent living by the grace of God from profession. So who is the real hirelings here? I think that is obvious now. |
edwardjr: God bless nairalanders,al ur contributions were helpful. I've bin asked 2 com 2 d police station again on tuesday,i'll wait 4 al their game 2b over b4 my next action. Thnk a zillion!By coming to seek opinion, I am sure no action will be taken by you. If you really mean business, you should be talking to a lawyer. seriously. |
abikubu: Classical reasoning and to the point too. @ stildude, you are indeed an internet hireling for infamous PEJ.and you betray your political dog and cultist status! |
@ Tundamartin and Dapatrick: Your arguments are always very narrow. Livingday queried PEJ on some of her activities which he labeled excesses. He was wrong in isolating her case and parading her in the worst words possible. My argument is, did this exercise of power or authority start today?. If not, then she doesn't deserve all these labels ad insults being hauled at her at every opportunity. I was only moved to draw his attention to the present before he took us too far. Mrs Obama this and Obama that. Maybe we should legislate on behalf of gay right activist since that is the opinion of the Obamas. I respect sound argument and not one based on rash emotions and hate. The thread you mentioned on breach of protocol, try following it up and you will find out that no protocol was broken. Some of you think you can gang up on the internet and carry on a campaign against the Goodlucks and think you can sway public opinion against them, and then that will make you popular or fulfilled. When in fact the most of you are just opposition dogs and pirate siding with Soyinka and vikings siding with Ameachi. I am always critical of attacking leaders at whatever capacity cos it is not easy to please people. Except you have never attained any leadership position in life. As for me, I look at the issues without any form of bias first before posting here on nairaland. have a nice day folks! |
" Sometimes we concentrate on strengthening our weaknesses instead of strengthening strength" G Abacha. That's the only thing I see and it shows this lady is an intelligent one. |
livingday:Living day, we are talking about now, the present when Goodluck is our president and his wife PEJ is our first lady. An office may mean a position of duty, or authority, especially in government. The role of the first lady in Nigeria for now is an 'office' whether constitutionally or otherwise. First ladies have always performed official roles in this country side by side their husbands since independence, and Jonathan didn't conjure it up. First lady carrying out pet projects funded by state money is what? Most of you want PEJ's head, but from what standpoint. Doesn't Ameachi's wife get to exercise certain power because which is the spouse of a chief executive, or are some of the cars she moves in not fueled by state fund. Most of your criticisms here are just borne out of pure hate. You speak of poise and proper manners, when your writing pattern shouts otherwise. You are all hauling insults at one woman, it isn't right, and it is hypocritical. The fact that Asaba is deltan capital today has a lot to do with Marian Babagida. How do you even divorce the first lady from politics. One of the definitions of politics is "who wants what, when and how". If you have that in mind, the firstlady's activities and opinion will always bring controversy. Since politics is also the authoritative allocation of (scarce) resources, there will always be conflict. Pej is first lady but first she is a woman and man by nature is a political animal. It just depends on which side favours who. What I want to see on this forum is sane criticism and not spewing of hate. Whenever any one has a contrary opinion to most of anti -PEJ's they are tagged GEJ's internet thugs. So what does that make you? |
Some of the points raised by the Poster are reasonable. However, to attribute the exercise of such power to Dame PEJ alone is not reasonable. Have we forgotten so soon how one woman held Nigerians and Nigeria to hostage during the Yar adua's era, or the Charisma and political awareness displayed by the first lady during Obasanjo's era? I refuse to agree that the first Lady is 'overdoing' things considering what obtained in the past. Jonathan didn't create the office of the first lady. Every chief executive including those of the states past or serving (Including Gov Amaechi) has it kitted in the executive operations of their regime or administration. I will, admit however, that it is in the best interest of democracy in the country that the powers and conduct of the first lady ad her office be restricted ad refined respectively. |
Well, about the Prof's statement, this is what happens when celebrities of moral or intellectual repute live too long. At some point, they begin to goof. I have always been worried that Nelson Mandela will lose his respect for a thing he might either say or do. Thank God that he has so far kept his good name. Sometimes, let's read between the line. This is the prof that presented himself one time as Niger-Deltan Militant's mediator with the state. Now that Okah's group has issues with the president, how convenient it is for the prof to take a swipe at the first lady. Old men are not always wise, maybe this one knows what he is doing?? ![]() |

This argument, I see is between Hollywood movie enthusiasts, weapons/military scholars or enthusiasts, on one hand and military/ weapon experts, military personnel, and patriots on the other hand. Well, I find myself inclined to join the latter. Any point I make now will only re-echo the ones made already. From my little knowledge of weapons and strategies, You don't expect the NM to put up their best hardware for the world to see. Countries rarely do that except when trying to achieve a 'gun boat diplomacy'. As for the AK effectiveness, the weapon is not crap. when compared with other modern more accurate weapons, it still has it advantages. Kudos to the Nigeria Military! Well let's see those of our neighbors, then we can come back here and comment. |
The issue of psycho trailer drivers on the road is a very serious one. Many have lost loved ones and property to their activities. I am very sure many of them are intentionally evil. This may stem from several reasons. The ones I can think of are: 1. some of them are killers on the road the same way there are serial killer doctors or nurses caring for patients. They savour the feeling of taking the life of the helpless. 2. Transfer of aggression. Some of them nurse hate against their boss. When they see you 'an oga' just like his, in this flashy car, they are drawn to oppose anything you (or their oga) represents. On the wheel of a huge truck against you in your small car, they feel they are now the boss and can exercise power including to determine your fate. Ever seen a truck driver shouting on another motorist while he is sitting there in the truck, then he comes down and he is a small man and the tone of his voice suddenly changes. 3. Another reason I can think of is the same male ego of not backing down. The same way most male drivers react when someone is trying to overtake them by stepping on the pedal, some truck drivers will swerve towards you to discourage you or show disapproval of your overtaking them. However, about not stopping, it is the same way a driver running away from the scene of an accident after running over a victim because of reasons such as fear of being lynched, arrest, or having to bear the cost of treatment or repairs that has arisen from the accident. I remember as a young boy, I used think that when I grow up, the kind of automobile I would like to drive will be a truck since I thought that would give me an advantage should I be involved in a collision with another vehicle. it was childish but smart ha!ha! Pls be very careful when you are approaching a truck driver in Nigeria, especially on the highway, any wrong move from either of you, some one may not live to tell the story. The victim almost always is the guy in the small car. |
Inspirational story! |
omotola1: Wow... Love this thread. Old folks are gonna get to hook up here. Kudos @Op!why do I feel some one is collecting data, building profile. soon, you'll be representing your hood, your family and your career. As for me, I'll tell you when we become friends. Right now I attended anonymous. |
Victor Moses! I think Nigeria now has a hero. Thank you to Mba for the goal. |
Getting into partnership is a bit tricky. I would say if u can raise the initial start up capital alone and manage the other demands, it should be better to go alone and hire whatever skilled hand you require. sometimes, partnership is shared risk, maybe enhanced decision making process and maybe better decision. Those are the merits. well, going into business with another, you should check if you are both compartible. Most entrepreneurs are risk takers and positive in disposition. But you might be hooking up with a pessimistic person who scores low on taking risk. The partnership won't last. ok. I should add that it is not usually the other person who breaks the law. It could be you. so, put up an MOU, a contract, anything that should get you focused. I think no match is made in heaven and no partnership lasts forever, so it always better to include exit and winding up clause in the agreement. what I am saying is make every agreement as formal as possible to get the demon in both of you under control. my experience: I entered into partnership with a long time friend but cos we didn't hit the figure on the mark, even though we still made profit on our first order, he pulled out his money. As a result, the biz died. If you ask me, don't do partnership if you can manage alone. My other biz is still thriving and going bigger because I weathered the storm and persevered through it when it was tough. I don't think another person would have been able to stand with me (except my wife maybe) I am not a prophet of doom, but the stat. says more 50% (mildly)of all start up fails in their first year. if you go the partnership way, the odds just doudled against you. I told someome some time ago to hold on before going into partnership, he didn't listen , after 6 months he finally told me it was a disaster. |
Aggrippa: you forgot to mention BODYBUILDING/JIU-JITSU and KARATEyou can actually develop those skills at basic level via the internet. just download the different stages program. Then replay and practice with the help of a partner. As your understanding of techniques improves, you go to the next rank/stage program until you acquire higher degree of proficiency. I actually improved my Judo and Jujitsu skills through this method. |
Lesson reiterated: while failure has no friends, success has many companions. By the time the eagles get to the finals, I bet, Oga Jonathan will join them with goodluck ![]() |
obowunmi: The only thing that I don't agree with is the back-up plan part. Back-up plans are important.Until you eliminate option B sometimes , you won't have the zeal or tenacity that will make option A work. U say don't put all your eggs in one basket. It is also said 'put all ur eggs in one basket and watch the basket. This is the power of focus that make magic happen. Some person lost his job, he wants badly to enter into biz for himself and gets started on a plan, yet he wants to see tuesday guardian (maybe the date has changed) searching for job, that person will most likely not succeed. Some, even after starting off on a biz idea, will go ahead and get a pay job. |
Emmy9ite: Nice points op, some are debatable. Successful people dont work for money, they make their money work for them. They employ people to do what they dont want to do. Imagine Bill gate cleaning the floor cos he wants to be hardworking(this is just an illlustration), hope you get my point.working hard doesn't mean doing works that are tedious or degrading. The success you now see with Bill came at a great price at somepoint. Even now, he works hard, coming out of retirement to work still. That successful people pay people to do the job for them is not entirely correct. They do the job that they have passion and skill sets for and pay others todo other stuffs. If ur biz is selling and ur selling skills are the best in the coy, it will be foolish to pay people to close sales while you relax in the office. |
Every time someone puts up some "successful people' stuffs, you always have people who disagree with many important points, and they wonder why they are not successful. Many will even say I live in the US...I drive a N6m car, I have this and that. Then you dig deeper and you find they are just living off someone elses success. In most cases daddy's wealth, or family connection where they thrive on the institutionalized corruption in Nigeria or smply, they are just employees who think they see the coy's financials , they are co-owners. They have never started any biz of their own, nor ever turn an idea into a venture that has grown or is growing for 5yrs. There are poor people in the US . There are people who drive the latest cars and can't fuel them. Another man money na picture even if you be bank teller wey dey count am. |
I agree. So true with me. Maybe not with the bully thing. On a second thought, maybe that's why I chose to practice martial arts. Later became the dojo bully lol! |
With my recent experience, I'd have to say eco bank. They seem to be understaffed. Two tellers attending to two qeues of 50 customers each. You'd think that is bad enough until you see one of them leaving his cubicle every minute doing 'God knows what' most Nigerian banks can't seem to manage cost-service tradeoffs effectively. They are so concerned about cutting cost that they totally undermine customer service. They should know that customers are getting more and more enlightened nowadays. Back to my oceanic -eco bank experience. I was made to carry around the cheque I brought in, for verification at 3 different points. Believe me, they were not close, and I wasn't happy. I had to climb upstairs to get to one of the offices. Banks are supposed to be service industries. They should start acting thus. |
ola_pluto: She should be happy to win her 1st fight, talk less of winning gold. She's not Nigeria's best boxer. She was only lucky at the qualification in China. A younger boxer in weight class than her, Kehinde Obareh always spars her well. Please expect nothing from this lady. She's all talks. Our first medal contender is Mariam Usman in Weightlifting +77kg women.Who says she Nigerian best boxer. Right now, she is Nigerian best female under 75kg boxer. kehinde and Agu are not even in the same weight class. why compare them. Look, seriously that girl will beat up some male boxers. I wish her luck. |
There have been several responses, assumptions, explanations as well as the explanatory of things explained. I'd like to add my own view points to others' views. I think the Man must have been suspecting the woman of infidelity in the past. So on this fateful night, he checked the house at the time of the night when a responsible and decent woman should be inside and in bed, then found that she was not in. He quickly got his PA and probably saw, heard the woman sneeking in or out. The woman sensing her husband has probably heard or seen someone (or her)tried to hide around the place the generator is. The man simply pointed the PA towards the shadows and pulled some off. Later settled down to rehearse the incident and re-make his own. Sorry, not that I condone this kind act, but isn't there an aspect of the law that can create some escape for the defense. something like continous extreme provocation. liers sorry lawyers please! |
Got this from somewhere (i mean the internet, where else if not somewhere., hahaha), wanted to share. You could add yours. Things I Hate About Everyone 1. People who point at their wrist asking for the time... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is? 2. People who are willing to get off their a** to search the entire room for the TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually. 3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn Right! What good is cake if you can't eat it? 4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they? 5. When people say while watching a film, "did ya see that?" No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor! 6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?"... Didn't give me a choice there, did ya sunshine? 7. When something is 'new and improved'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new. 8. When people say "life is short". What the hell Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!!! What can you do thats longer?9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?" If the bus came, would I be standing here ![]() - Unknown |
Ayitolla ehh..ayittey, I for one know what you and ur other vulture Naija antagonists set out to avhieve by all these rantings and unsolicited commentaries on Naija as a govt and as a people. 1. to ridicule Nigeria whilst promoting Ghana's. image A trade South africa has perfected so well. 2. lauder an image for urself thru cheap blackmail and slug taking at the greatest nation in Africa. 3. align ur self with a political group - govt opposit ion , maybe boko haram. ayottolla sorry ayittey damn! can't get ur name right never mind, so that you can open live office on certain orphans and losers in the country...you self want to enjoy oiyel money |
