agitator:You make it seem as if there are no islamic schools in Nigeria. Even in Lagos, many!. Is Jos a state of the islamic north? For me, as long as it holds some benefits to the people and not an avenue to move terrorist money, the system is ok. To be candid, Since the other set of Nigeria does not agree with the term used, why not scrap it alltogether. Except it will be funded and managed by moslems alone and gets nothing to do with the FG. The names of schools you mentioned are private owned and not public. Why does a section of the country always want to push down its way unto others. Just like sharia, Boko Haram, the islamic signs on the nation's bank notes, just to mention a few. |
lagerwhenindoubt:I like most of the scholarly argument you have put forward here. however, the point I would like to drive home to you is that the issues prevalent or root causes of most of the civil violence in Nigeria can't be explained away like that. I want you to take a case of yemeni terrorists and the taliban in Afganistan. Is the behaviour of these people due to bad governance alone? I think not. It is as a result of slow and careful redicalisation of the populace by the people of influence in those places. Nowadays, most southern Nigerians are sympathetic to Western and Isreali causes due to religion and Orientation. Fondness with and affinity to their way of life injected into us through Christianity, western literatures, ideologies, cinemas, etc. We have their stars as our role model , remember, John Wayn, superman. All these media have helped to reinforce, cement and sustain these ways in us. So weather, the govt is good or bad, we still uphold certain sense of beliefs in justice and order as taught in our schools and churches. From this view point, Needless to say why most people of islamic north have the animosity to things western and civilized. there has been steady infuse of radical thoughts and teaching hate and propagandist view against the west and chritianity into followers by their people of influence from childhood. If the govt was to be blamed, then, this behaviour should be seen in every Nigerian. You might want to point us to the ND agitations. Their causes are not to be compared to those of the BH. Their enemies were either the govt or the rich. A case of Robin Hood in English forklore. (before it was hijacked and turned into criminality) I also want to tell you that if the People of ND wanted to be industrious, there would have been no need for militancy. Most of the millitant group were just bunch of lazy people who couldn't sit their butt down to decent day's work, hence resorted to crime. I was in PH and I observed that when companies give slots to the indegenes, some of them sell their slots and go about 'hussling'. In Yenogoa and delta for instance, some guys get contract awards and sell them off, cos they are not ready to get down to any dirty biz. I had a friend who lived in our state then, He studied engineering. when there was invitation from oil companies to all qualified ijaws to come and get instant employment, he went and he is still with an oil giant till date. some won't go or even bother to go to school. Later people'll start singing the song of govt intolerance and insensitivity to the plight of the common man. Most of their leaders even divert monies appriopraited to them to develop their community. Our president went to school without shoes! On the issue of No laid down manuals for treating cases of insurrection like this. I think they do. The army is one aspect of it. Tried as the US have, to win the afgans over, they couldn't do it, in the end, the blast of m16s, unmanned craft and boots on the ground are the only things achieving results. Radical islamization is the root cause not the govt. |
lagerwhenindoubt:Most politicians are quick to point accusing fingers at the govt in power instead of proffering intelligent solutions to the problem at hand . Some are too scared to take a side (the hallmark of politicians like Tinubu) are always sitting on the fence. America has about the best system in the world, yet, there are all sorts of extremist and supremacist groups, wacko guys that let off fumes on innocent students or people cos of one personal dissatisfaction or the other. These issues are always treated as crimes not fingers being pointed at the govt of the day. Let's face it, the activity of Boko Haram is criminal and it must be first and foremost seen and treated as such. On the birth of a state or nation, consenting peoples are supposed to collapse or surrender their will into that of the state not otherwise. The clear word for the activity of the sect is TREASON! Pls. while we condemn unwarranted killings of innocent civilians, we should avoid making statements that tend to excuse any form of crime (or criminality) against the people or state. (the state is mostly the totality of the people) |
Not all the civilians killed are guilty. For that reason, my heart goes out to the people who lost their lives. While it is difficult for the soldiers to be civil in their operations in maiduguri, they should at least use some restraints. I think this can be achieved by putting a disciplined career soldier with influence as heads of the various units. On the issue of the people being ignorant of who the BH guys are, I think is not an entirely a right assertion. I have listened to someone from there who lives in the south and traveled there recently. He told of the sect popularity among the people. On more than one occasion, they came to him and did not hide their identity. He was very scared that he might get hurt. It is common over there to hear people being sympathetic to their agenda. That is while their leaders and majority of them haven't condemned their activity. The islamic north is embedded in 'code' and 'Honour' That is while, they may not willing give up the identity of the culprits. Let's face the fact, most of them are relatives of theirs- Products of the 'Almajiri system'. |
That is a lie! They don't have another suicide bomber willing to take his life. Who wants to die. Except the victim does not know it. The other day in the news, One fulani woman was going to put a suspected bomb package down at one fuel station in Lagos, with little resistance from the attendant, she lost it until she was caught (according to the news). she for just blow herself up na! Even the poor woman had to choose life in place of death in that assignment. Let them start and let's see how many of them are willing to die, that is voluntarily. After two have gone, then one of them will be intelligent enough to ask , ''oga when be ur turn na?'' They want to have another chance at the negotiation table, so they are coming up with different threat. JTF will remain there for now. BOKO Haram, no show for you! |
I don't think weakening the center and strenghtening the parts and granting a strong autonomy to the parts for reason of resource control is the reason for the dissaffection with the north. It is the reckless violence and murder of southerners living in the north. Do you think the robots in the north will not kill innocent southerners in the midst even if they controlled their own resources in a true federation. I think, it may well increase the reasons for these violent behaviours that are quickly given to justify the murder of innocent southerners in the north. such as: impoverishment, lack of education, political manipulation, religious extremism, etc. In that scenario( weakened center and regional resource control), therefore, a southerner from another federal state could still be killed if they in the north think they are not righteous enough or the fumes from their cars blew away pages of their koran. Don't you think it is more complex than that? |
In the event of a split, Edo state will gladly and naturally go with the south. Edo state (at least the binis) has historical connection with most southern neigbours. With the yorubas - Oduduwa and eko; with the deltans- Bendel; calabarites and ibomites - Oba Ovorame ; with Rivers - omurku people; with Ijaws - gelegele; with ibos- asaba and onisha; with tiv and idoma - similar traditional attire and lifestyle with the Esans and the Edo people in general; With other middle belt states- civilization and sophistication; with hausa/fulanis - none! If Edo needs to be alone, they can stand on their own gladly too. Reasons of folks wanting a split: 1. lack of unity 2. mutual suspicion 3. incessant and unjustyfiable killings of relatives living in the north 4. deadly religious extremism exhibited by the north 5. clear differences in traits and of the two regions, whether socially, educationally, genetically or otherwise that bring about complexes between the two group 6. tribal and religious sentiments in the sharing formula and federal allocation. 7. Others (your opinion) Reasons of folks who want unity: 1. Being in power, relatives of those in power or benefiting from the Nigerian project 2. Wanting to be politically correct or a genuine or hypocritic perception of patriotism 3. Geographically from the part of the divide that gain more from the union 4. Uncertainty or suspect on the outcome of the new union 5. Naivety 6. Beliefs (most christian leaders advocate and preach one Nigeria to their followers and they tend to buy into the idea) 7. plain silly My reasons Falls more within the last 2 reasons just above. |
For real, the igbos deserve to be patted at the back. They were the ultimate equalizer in the scheme of things. |
Buhari responding in hausa to a question asked in English is not surprising at all. It is the same boko haram mentality of denouncing anything western like the talibani amajiris that he controls. He is probably sending a coded language to the boko haram group to step up their violent acts against anything civilized and the govt, since he knows now that he can never get into aso rocks. It is a shame many learned Nigerians were almost deceived but not us. Now our prodigal Nlanders remove the wool from your eyes and return to the place of wisdom. Stop all your lame excuses to cover up for him. ALL HAIL GOODLUCK! the true nationalist and leader. |
if Buhari wins tomorrow, I too may become Pope. If wishes were horses, beggars might ride! |
I know why some members of this forum have not bothered to post any reply to the accusation and senseless criticism by atheists in this forum. You just can't be reasoned with. If studying abroad makes you a pastor, like one contributor mentioned, then I too should be one, obtaining two masters degree from European Universities. Maybe your definition of education or 'sophistication' has cast darkness upon your mental capacity, but you seem to see it the other way round. Like some great man said, '' you think you are too intelligent to believe in God, I am not like you'' I was once like most of you (even Paul in the bible thought he was acting learned when he was persecuting the church until, he changed sides and mentality FORCEFULLY. well, some of you don't believe in the bible anyway) I used to think I was cool and sophisticated, developing arguments and conceiving senseless questions. I was also one time, a member of the cult! - of Africa AKA Confranternity. Did some unimaginable things. Well, I am glad, I am alive today, as many have fallen both friends and foes. Some guys just take pleasure in dissing 'men of God' thinking they are so cool arguing over and reasoning on beer and hard drug, guys who don't have a road map of where they are heading. All I can say is, believe what you want to believe. Since, you are have all the time in the world to 'yab' one man that is blessed already, then you have a job. sit all day on the internet and gossip instead of doing something worthwhile with your life. Anyways, If they don't gossip you, then you are not relevant in the environment where you are. Now to the issue of best sellers. How many religious books are on your list and how many authors from Africa are there. You guys want facts, you just type on your keyboard and expect it to come out. Facts may come out that way some times, necessarily not African data, most are not to be found on the internet. Even In your Universities abroad, You need to go to the libraries to get materials in hard copies. Those are more authentic. In any case, fact may be found there, not truth. A small analysis, there are more than 120,000 worshipers in Canaan land alone, there are branches of the church in every major population in Nigeria right now both rural and urban. There are centers in most countries of the world even in predominantly moslem nations. The bishop's book are found in every one of those homes! I have at least 10 of his books. I am not even a pastor. Now to the story. Jets are procured for the church for some specific assignment not a display of affluence by the Bishop. Kenneth copeland has given out jets as gifts to people several times. It is only a useless child that will stand by and watch people rubbish his father in his presence. Oyedepo is my father, I am not from South west and definitly not yoruba. Now, where I am from, winners is also popular there, unlike one of you think. Now this is the last time, I will comment on this issue. |
EarsWide:This man has written books that have sold millions of copies worldwide, yet does not take the proceeds, instead, everything goes into the ministry. |
dare2think:I say it again, you are just jealous of the man's achievement. Would the issue have taken your attention, if he were one of those so called ''men of God'' that walk barefooted in Lagos ringing bells and taking money from commuters inside molues? If no, then you are jealous deluded hypocrite. I think you are also an anti- christ. Wow, I can see 666 on your fore head. Satan get Lost! |
Pukkah:'stand out in what sense'. by the car he drives? or by his fashion sense? Is he sicklier than others? Do you know him before he joined the church? Well if things are not working for your colleague by your own observation, and he's still there, then you are not in any position to say anything cos obviously, you are not seeing well. You come here with one 'yeye' story about one guy you know. what about thousands who stories to tell? Whatever makes you happy. Una wey dey yab men of God, make devil non baptize una with one affliction wey go require them rush una come church. According to Gordons, when soldier slap you, you go know say police na your friend |

jealousy!!! If prospering in ministry is easy go give it a try. For some who are undecided on this thread, pls Visit any of the global worship centers of the ministry, if your life remains the same after 6 months, you are free to leave. Nobody is asking for your offerings. Others are willing to give and they have stories to tell. ''Winners chapel- the place where God turns little shots to big shots in a short time'' |
Silly story and desperation of the anti GEJ of the highest order. There is no limit to how low these guys are willing to go in their campaign to smear the reputation of the president. All I needed to see was the caftan hand of the Aboki or CPC man holding the so called largess and it was clear to me what this is all about and who are behind all these. The Buhari's Taliban! |
make una relax , na continuation of 'april fool' Nigerians fell for it. |
ziccoit:Pls what was the naira- dollar exhange rate then and what is it now? millions then should be trillions now. and you can't truly mean nothing has been done now. |
I want to comment on the issue of black out in Nigeria. I can say that since I was a child, the issue of blackout has always been there in Nigeria. In a few years, I would be celebrating my 40th xmas. The only thing you could say is that the black out frequency is more now than back in the days. That also is due to the mere fact that there are more people in Nigeria now compared to '83. There is also more consumption of power as result of more industrialization in the country. In Buhari's days, we were mostly importing (and even forced to sell below cost price). We hardly were a producing nation. Cocoa and cotton didn't need much power unlike common sealing of bottle water now. Even the roads were not used much back then compared to now. The roads are getting bad more easily partly cos there is huge pressure on them compared to 80s. It is foolish to compare achievements and challenges between the times. |
Haters will always be haters. Goodluck opened border na wahala, Goodluck Ban goods wahala, Goodluck says Govt should patronize made-in Nigeria goods na another attack. What would you rather have him do? fault finders. Beaf, abeg relax no worry yourself. Nigeria doesn't need them, We are moving forward. The policy should be appreciated by all true Nigerians, 'made in Nigeria' or 'assembled in Nigeria'. The Multiplier effect is huge for all of us. Think about the jobs that will be created in the industry if the benefits are realized. Maybe, me myself can at last be a proud owner of a brand new truck sooner than later instead of all these tokunbo that are sold for fortunes. China, India and other developing countries started this way years back, now they are benchmarks in many indicators. Good one Goodluck!. |
Delafruita:Never thought we could see eye to eye on any issue. |
I am a Nigerian, and No I don't support Buhari. I want the Goodluck for Nigeria to continue 2011! |
Delafruita:Bla bla bla. Your Analogy of the son of a farmer being a farmer doesn't work cos we are talking about gene not career or occupation. The son of a farmer can never become a goat. The rest of your post is just philosophy. Christianity is a faith thing . if you are not a christian you wouldn't understand because it is all spiritual. If you couldn't digest the sense in my earlier post, I guess, you won't understand John 1:1. I'll help you out a bit. The word there means Jesus. |
Delafruita:PHIL 101 is not Biblical doctrine neither is HIS 101 nor REG 101 or what ever you studied in school. Pls don't also mix up Christianity with Islam. Talk about your religion. The Lord Jesus is God. Confirmation ; '' is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. The son of a God is a God, the same well the son of a dog is a dog and the son of satan is satan. |
SeanT21:'', Ye are gods all of you children of the most high but ye shall die like men, '' psalm 82: 6-7 '' , ye are gods'' john 10:34b '', I have set you as a god over pharoah, and Aaron your prophet, '' '', and thou shalt be to him instead of a God, '' Exodus 4:16b '', In the image of God created He them , male and female, ''Gen 1:25 - 26 I am a god! not to talk of my Bishop. |
efisher:, and tribalism I posted on another forum one time my thoughts on tribalism. My hypothesis is ; The development of a nation is inversely proportional to the number of ethnic groups in the country. This is why Nigeria has not developed much since the 60s. People keep blaming Leaders, corruption and stuffs when indeed tribalsim is the bane of the nation's growth. I participated in a poll on the best ethnic group dances, and even though I was convinced the Niger delta (mainly urhobo) dancers are the best, I still clicked a different group. (and yorubas are leading even though in reality, most would tick the urhobos) The point is, we mostly, employ, vote, prosecute, award contracts, etc., based on ethnic sentiments. Educated Youths most of all, should always resist and fight any attempt to create this partition when it comes to national issues that will not only affect us but our children and probably their own children. I love the Ibos, the Yorubas, the Hausas, Edos, urhobos, efik, ibibios, ijaws, ikwerres, and what ever makes up our 250+ tribes in this country. Some of our leaders incite ethnic sentiment and tribal discord when it suits them. Actually, the reason why there has not been any mayor war in Nigeria since the last one is because most of our big shots and leaders have investments they wish to protect. Do you really think Aliko Dangote, Jimoh Ibrahim and co want wars?. You guys are busy Slugging it out here on Nland and beer parlours, they are popping wine over the seal of a new biz deal. They don't even have time for their wives not to talk of posting on the internet. With this, I declare this war ended and parties are to shake hands. May brotherly love prevail. The spirit of Naija is stronger than any one ethnic group. |
Been demonstrated to be true on Dr Phil. Good looking people mostly get all the attention and people are usually nice to them. Wanna wonder why people troop into Christ Embassy, do you think it's only about the anointing? Why do banks send their prettiest to go after the money in the street and attend to customers across the counter in most cases? The other types are busy counting money in the bulk room. |
vinmol:He ! he! don't shoot! Some of you are supposed to be feared as you are monarchs and very important people (only on Nland). I know your types- complainants turned defendant. |
vinmol:From what I have observed, Beaf is the one coming with all the facts and figures, the rest just want to attack personality and raise cheap propaganda and trying to escape the obvious. Just like this poster choosing to attack Beaf and deviating from the topic at hand. BB people only have lies, intimidation, cheap accusations and nothing more to offer. Leave beaf alone and air your own view, it is a free world, at least on the internet for christ sake. |
BY HENRY UMORU ABUJA – AHEAD of next month’s elections, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan, may emerge the winner of April 9 Presidential polls, following the opinion poll for this week. The poll on the election conducted by Pollstar, an Abuja-based survey agency, revealed that of the 14 Presidential candidates, President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP was in the lead, having scored 21 percent, with Ibrahim Shekarau of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, coming closely with 20 percent. Others are the Presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, General Muhammadu Buhari, 18 percent and Nuhu Ribadu of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, 17 percent. Others, according to a statement signed by the Executive Director of Pollstar, Obi Benedict Ekene, showed Patrick Utomi of Social Democratic Mega Party, SDMP, with 12 percent; Dele Momodu of National Conscience Party, NCP, 5.5 percent; Chris Okotie of Fresh Democratic Party, 3.5 percent, among others. Ekene noted that Poll star, in the conduct of the poll, liaised with four major telecom providers, including MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat in Nigeria, to gather data from approximately 70 million respondents through SMS, Source :http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/03/2011-jonathan-shekarau-lead-in-presidential-opinion-poll/ |
Beaf and other good and intelligent men on this forum, I salute you. Pharoah, I salute you, Ozin, I salute you. Pro Buhari should stop the war of intimidation with beaf and co and address issues as presented. Reminds me of so called mr righteous that is not so righteous who keeps threatening fire and brimestone should they lose election. The father of extreme islamism that has bred after his kind- idiots targeting the church of God in the north. The initiator of this discourse along with other pro Buhari people threw the first punch, now beaf and co have gone merciless, hitting again and again. If it were real life combat of 3 rounds of 3 minutes per bout, like in MMA each of you pro Buhari would have been dead by now. This is what I hate about internet and computer games/beef, casualties including the bad guy or boss that have been killed returning once you restart the game. That is why all the punches of the pro Buhari guys are repetition boldenen or otherwise. Beaf/GEJ don win. I am glad I am on their side cos of the strikes and killer punches they keep delivering. I stand tall with GEJ till 2015! |
