Moses feared that the Israelites would surely turn against God when taken away so he decided to institute laws that would keep the Israelites obedient to God [Deuteronomy 4:1].

The laws instituted by Moses are not just laws to keep the Isrealites loyal to God, they also serve as a constitution for justice- a constitution that will help promote a peaceful coexistence among the Isrealites. For example, Deuteronomy 15:1-3 talks about the guidelines for cancelling debts. Deuteronomy 15:12-18 enumerated the procedures for freeing a slave. Please read Deuteronomy 17:8-13 for a clearer understanding.

It is very important to note that the verse 5 of Deuteronomy 22 that reads, “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this” is not standing in isolation. Therefore any other law in the same chapter must be treated with the same regards. Failure to do this is simply being mischievous. No one should cherry-pick the law of God according to his convenience. All the laws should be equally regarded.

Verse 22 of the same chapter 22 says, “If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.” Now, how come those who believe in verse 5 of the same chapter turn a blind eye to verse 22? Is this a possible oversight or are they implying that this has never happened in their congregation before?

Verse 9-12 reads, “Do not plant two kinds of seed in your vineyard; if you do, not only the crops you plant but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled. Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together. Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.” Make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear.”

‭‭No one obviously follows the above laws anymore, not even those who hold tightly to verse 5. It may interest you to note that Moses gave a law that a rebellious son be stoned to death in the chapter before 22 while he was still speaking [Deuteronomy 21:18-21]. I can go on and on and on to show that the advocates of Deuteronomy 22:5 only handpicked a few laws of Moses and then neglected the rest.

I boldly put it to anybody that the laws of Moses were not all from God, some were purely formulated according to his personal discretion [Matthew 19:8]. To be exact, most of those laws were fashioned according to the culture and peculiarities of the ancient Israelites, therefore, they no longer have a place in today's modern world.

Let's go to Hebrews 7 to see the New Testament position on the law of Moses. Verse 11-12 reads, “If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.” Read that again. In fact, verse 19 is even more brutal, it reads, “The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.”

In conclusion, I believe that anyone who still holds firm to the law of Moses is either a Judaist or hasn't caught the revelation of the New Testament covenant. The New Testament Christians are not obligated to the law of Moses as it has been annulled by the new covenant occasioned by the death of Christ on the cross. So It is scripturally inconsistent for anyone who still practices Deuteronomy 22:5 not to obey all the laws of Moses to the letter.

Your presentation in the cloth of argument is purely fallacious and lacks merit as it is based on "if you keep this (Deut and if you do not keep that'"

If you like scream that The Law God gave to Moses is annulled, it is of no effect because, it is only The LawMaker who has a right to repeal and amend The Law.
