Politics / Re: New National Anthem - The Grand Hypocrisy Of Oby Ezekwesili by StOla: 1:15am On May 31
She just wanted to stand in opposition, nothing sensible in what she posited about the content of the renewed anthem, besides the fact that it is an unnessary waste of legislative time by the National Assembly
Politics / Re: Global Recognition Of Palestinian State Will Trigger Fresh Biafra Agitation by StOla: 12:17am On May 31
If that is the case, shouldn't they be at the forefront in championing the Palestinian cause?

Instead they rejoice at anything that limits the Palestinians from having a country on their own land that is occupied by Jewish refugees from Europe.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Breaking News : Donald Trump Found Guilty on all charges by StOla: 11:11pm On May 30
The Republican Party has become a Trump Party like PDP has become an Atiku party.

Despite all the pointers to his future conviction, he still won the party ticket only to bring disgrace, shame, and electoral defeat to the party.

Like Trump, Like Atiku.

Both are a great albatross to their respective parties.

Sorry ingrate because you have him land and he didn't thank you, or you paid for the land for him.
Don't let your hate rule you.

Ingrate because he did not appreciate the consideration he was given by the federal government.

In a sane society, he should have been penalised and duly taxed by the government for income made owing to the encroachment and also billed for any demolition done on the encroached land.

The same Kano dem say Tinubu no go see votes in 2027?

Many governors are loyal to Tinubu because they know he is a Democrat who does not interfere in what is not within his powers to do so.

Tinubu knows what it means for a Governor and his state to suffer under a dictatorial president like he did under Obasanjo.

After today's forced stay at home and the attacks on security and military personnel while on their lawful duty, this is what I expect to hear from Maryanne Moghalu.

Politics / Re: Umahi Dares Landmark To Publish Land Titles Over Property Demolition Claim by StOla: 9:34pm On May 30
Good question to ask the ingrate.

“I have asked Landmark to publish his title documents. Till today, he has not published it,” Umahi said.

“In fact, if I do one hundred meter corridor, the two buildings of Landmark would have gone. We did 30 30-meter corridor to save his property and he is not grateful because he is using it for politics.

“None of Landmark property was involved in the demolition and no permanent structure along that road. His property is in one plus 800.

“I saved his two properties, not because he is Landmark, but I am a developer because whatever you sow is what you will reap.”

Lagos state government should publish it on behalf of the ingrate.

Politics / Re: Reno Omokri Criticizes Oby Ezekwesili, Peter Obi, And Alex Otti by StOla: 9:28pm On May 30
Raskimonojendor:
As for Otti, he knows Igbos are majority of his supporters so he had to pander to them unlike Enugu governor that doesn't give a damn about those riff raff. I would rather trust PDP than trust that LP(IPOB) party.

What is Peter Obi's excuse?

He could not speak up for Igbo kids who were to sit for the exam that was threatened by the terrorist group.

Will he also not speak up for the military men who have lost their lives today?

Obi is a coward.

Who would have known that Obi knows how to shut his mouth?

Like Atiku, he will never rule this country.

As for Oby Ezekwesili, she remains a disgraced bigot.

To think she and Dora Akunyili were friends and she could not voice out at the madness that blew open the face of Dr Chike Akunyili, as it bares it fangs against Igbos once again in their annual quest for anarchy and sorrow.

But, maybe they actually love anarchy and sorrow in those parts.

Obi is a talkative only when he wants media attention for things that happen outside of his native Igboland.

He supports the terrorism going on in the SouthEast.

Compare how much this company invested in Nigeria with the amount LandMark beach invested, yet they are not regarded

Landmark like all other businesses, should keep themselves within the confines of the space they have procured.

It is certainly an economic security concern, to have a country's production capacity tied majorly to foreign firms who can always exit once the business climate is not favourable.

Do you have multinationals in the East?

If the economy of Nigeria is not conducive for foreign investors who require stability of currency exchange to make profit from their investments, are they not going to shit down in the places that they run their operation?

As we Nigerians adopted it on merit after a selection process made by a Nigerian committee, it ushered in a new and independent Nigeria.

I only hope that our leaders can return us to that independent but old Nigeria, that will be prosperous and attract the contribution of the best minds from around the world.

Our brain drain should be reverted to a brain gain.
Politics / Re: Call For Competition To Compose Nigeria's National Anthem (1960 Throwback) by StOla: 4:21am On May 30
LegendHero:

I also don’t care about the new national anthem, infact I think Tinubu shouldn’t have done it because I don’t think it’s what we need right now. But he already done it, so we don’t have a choice than to accept. People should have protested it before the NASS pass it if truly we don’t want it.

However, as someone from the young generation, the first time I ever heard the old national anthem was in the movie “October 1st” by Kunle Afolayan. There was a scene where one teacher was teaching the students in preparation for October 1st Independence Day.

I watched that movie with my brother, the first thing me and my brother uttered was “Why did we changed this lovely anthem”. We loved that anthem immediately we heard it. That was when I now went to read more on why it was changed and etc.

Like the other poster asserted, my mum who was born in the early 1950s also referred positively to that anthem a lot while I was growing up.

So it would seem it is a generational thing as the oldies yearn for the glorious days of their childhood, while we who were shaped in the military mould, hold on to the things the military gave to us.

If a return to old anthem can be done, then a return to regional governments or better political restructuring can be effected by a democratic government.

It is time for democratic Nigeria to shape Nigeria, instead of just living the system the military regimes put in place to usher a return to democracy.

Tinubu got balls. Let him move beyond this mental rejiging of Nigerians and see through with the necessary changes to national life.

The first day they mentioned changing the national anthem...I saw a symbolism...but many people now saying is that what is next can't see it.

That's when I know Nigerians that desire change and clamouring for restructuring of the country are not even wise... mumu plenty for Nairaland and beyond.
