A lot can be done bro. You need a logo for YMCA and a promo cover.

Good. Y. M. C. A or y. m. c. a cap or small letter. Trust you could do something better than Olamide's YBNL logo.

The promo cover should be beach setting with palm trees, beach chair, colourfull umbrella etc.

See the little I've been able to do.

I was verbally victimized by some graphics professionals here on NL, I got better so I decided to showcase myself.

Celebrities / Charlie Charlie... How It Came About by StoneColdBiceps(m): 12:11pm On Oct 31, 2017
Hello,

Iv been pondering lately on the originator of the phrase "charlie charlie". Is it a character name? Is it a term used for funny charaters or what?

"Charlie charlie",like we all know in foreign movies depicts a funny and stupid charater. The character that makes us wriggle with laughter grin as kids shining our teeths with our head tilt backwards to let the laughs all out.

So, in my curiousity i decided to ask our ever brainy NLanders how the name came about.

ddestiny145:
Dear brethren. Please do advice. My sister'S appointment got terminated in a bank and she was asked to refund the loans she collected from her office. Note:she had no intention to live the bank. The loan was meant to be deducted from her monthly salaries. Lawyers in the house can she make a case in the court. Since she didn't resign but the bank ask her to go,invariably the bank should also forfeit the loans since they terminated her appointment.

That no be problem.
They sack her. They would pay her severance package.
Severance package will be used to offset her loan. If the loan still has outstanding after offsetting then they 'll have to stop interest on dropping in her accout.

If She gets another job and she needs reference from her former employer, they 'll report that she has loan to settle or they will tell her to pay up the loan befor they can give her reference letter.

Also she'll let her new employer know she has loan. This is normal in corporate employment. They will takeover her loan and pay her previouse employer while it runs as a loan for her in the new company.

She must be employed again to be able to pay back her loan.

Good afternoon everyone here. I have been an ardent of this forum so, I felt it wouldn't be bad to bare my heart here as I know I'd surely get an advice that will make me see clearer. Please bear with me as I am not very perfect when it comes to expressing my self in writing. Pls pardon my write-up should you see it as too long. I just want to bare it all so one can know what to tell me. Thanks.
My Name is Amanda. I lost my parents when I was sixteen . I am from a family of five. I was about to sit for WAEC before the sudden demise of my parents. I had to drop out of school cus I couldn't pay bills and my older siblings were still struggling, so I got a job. I worked as a cleaner say for 2 years and I was able to save up something and enrolled for WAEC AND GCE and I passed. I tried my first admission it didn't so the second year someone told me to try a Polytechnic and fortunately I got admitted. I joined school but I kept working and I saved up some bucks and at the end of my ND at federal poly Auchi my G. P was 3.40 yes! I cried for joy.
I. T (Industrial Training) started and I felt it would make more sense If I could start something little within my environment. Since I knew a lot about female bags and wears I held on to the idea and started. My customer base grew as I went from department to department showing and convincing the "big girls" in school about my goods. I approached just anybody so long you female. I kept moving at that pace until I was heavily sought after. My room became my boutique.
Why I am confused now
All glory to God I have been able to establish a good relationship with people who sale to me on credit which allows me own varieties and sell more.
1. Not to exaggerate, I make a minimum of 40 to 45k a month as my own.
2. I ain't rich but I think I am comfortable for a young lady of my age. I will be 24 3rd October.
I focused more on my business and I didn't join my mates for the HND session. My reason was; after school now, I go carry certificate they Waka up and down. Make I kuku use this small money wey I don save use am run my business first as I thought school can wait. could I be wrong?

# I have a course mate who traveled overseas after our ND and she has been encouraging me to come over since I could afford the travel expenses (not to lie, I was considering this also which made me forget going back for my HND.)
Now my question is if you were me would you go back to school? I am of the opinion that schooling in Nigeria without a good back up could leave me frustrated after graduation. No job.
# if you were me would you just continue with your business and open up a shop or would you travel out, get a job and go to school there?
Pls advice Me as I would be turning 24 in no time and I am JUST CONFUSED embarassed I have the feeling that any decision I make at this point would either make or destroy me permanently. Pls help a sister embarassed
Should I go back to school? cus my dad always wanted me to get an education but I feel I should be able to know what works as times have changed.
Pls I am open to any form of advice. God bless.

Hi fellow Nlanders

I was born into Catholic faith and practice till I was 12 and I enjoyed it. My parent became deeper life member while we were living apart and now a pastor in that church. I re-united with them when I was 12 and since then I've been attending the church with them and still attend Catholic occasionally....I love the preaching from the founder of deeper life as he preaches the bitter truth but I believe most other young pastor see d church "doctrine" as commandment and so must be kept 100%.....the founder of the church addressed this issue several times but NO.

18 years on since we re-united, I'm a graduate, married and living abroad but my father still forcing his believe and doctrine on me. I considered myself spiritual but not so religious. I connect with my God easily but not a 3G church guy.

He made me and my siblings antisocial and introverted simply because he believed we shouldn't be involved in any social activities even sports. I still remember being beaten for playing soccer, he believes we would be influenced badly. Watching TV was a crime especially movies.

Fast forward to yesterday he rang my wife to check on us but the first question he asked was if we attend to church. I told him it's been raining and temperature was really low....then he started lamenting asking if I won't go to work if it wasn't Sunday, complaining about the country where I can't worship God...then to get me more exasperated he asked and insisted I tell him how many time I've been to church lately and how many times I've read d bible....I told him we've been attending but he insisted on a number.

This got me so mad that I stood up for myself under a heavy breathe as I do not want to disrespect him or hangup on him.I told him I do not appreciate being asked questions like a 10 yrs old boy and at my age I should know how to live my life and what's best for me.....he got angry and said goodbye and I guess he was still on d phone but I didn't know...I just hang up.....Now I've block him from reaching me ... planning to change my numbers.....but not any financial support. Only cutting all communication with him but not with my siblings as they mean more to me and I wanna see them through as much as God help me...

Please is this not an over reaction because I loved him as he's a very responsible man who puts the family first and strived to make us who we are. But we do not av a close relationship because of his believe even though he's been forcing it.

Make your father a friend. That is the only best way of communication he can do with you. You have to play along with him. Sweet talk him. He s old, he wants to still be able to talk to you. Let go off your gaurd of feeling embarrassed. Just be his friend. Make him understand. Ask him how his ministry is going. See where he needs help financially.

Good morning everyone

Remember I posted on this platform about my Elder sister who came to visit our mum where I was staying In the family house with my wife and my child.

It was a day I shall never forget in my life
whenever I remember that day I have a terrible feeling and it affected me so much

To those that don't know about the story

https://www.nairaland.com/3778429/how-blood-sister-treated-wife
That is the link

She beat my wife Blood was coming out of her nose she broke our private room that was padlocked gained entrance into the room and tore all my wife clothes and baby clothes in the wardrobe and also carried my wife certificates and up till now denying she never carries it

We were 4 members in the family I am the last born she was the second born and my sister was the eldest with one of my junior brother

To cut the long story short three month is gone and she still denied she didn't carry my wife certificates and my life photo album.

My eldest sister has called me again after visiting the pastor a prophet told her that she should call me and apologize for what he did if she really wants to move forward in her life but she refuse saying my number is switched off I know it's a lie she wanted me to call her first.... Tho she has realized the wrong she did the last time I saw her was on my mum Birthday Thanksgiving in the church she feel sober and could not even look me in the eye..... She believes so much in seniority and because she doesn't want to be the one to call first but i learnt that she always talk to my elder sister that she is remorseful for all thathappened but don'tknowhow to put it to me

Now the question is should I call her?
Tho I don't wish to becos I have vowed never to do that until she releases my property and also apologize tonn me but someone told me am the Aburo (junior) that I should call her first

That if I call her she might release the property She made away with
pls is this advisable I need a strong advice
though despite how she maltreated my wife ,my wife has called her and apologize despite that she did not release her certificates and our wedding photo album and other things..... Pls am confused advice me

Jus t put a call to her. Say "hello" "how are you" "Hope you are taking care of yourself". Dont tell her to return those items she took. She will guitily and shamely return them.

Look my broda, iv been working in a bank as a contract staff for 8 years no promotion or elevation. Recently, july 2017 i was converted from an outsourced staff to a direct staff with my bank. Now, this is what happened. Iv been praying about this situation, my general life situation and God did it recently.

This is how it happened...there is this kid named Dominion in my compound and i like playing with him though not frequently. July 2017 , i paid my fourth year rent making it 4 years of staying in my compound.

This fateful day, saturday, i was doing my laundry outside my flat in my compound and this kid ran towards me, calling me "Dominion, Dominion" Dominion. Meanwhile, thats his name he was calling me. So i luke- warmly replied him " its you that is Dominion, why are you calling me your name!" meanwhile, this kid has never ever call me his name since iv been in my compound for four years. No, never.
So, Towards in the evening of same day, i was watching a popular televangelist broadcast, i guess you know who im talking about. This pastor was just declaring " walk into your dominion! Sing into your dominion! Pray into your dominion" it is your dominion! This is your dominion!.......i guess you know the meaning of "dominion"

To cut the story short, this August, i was converted to a direct staff of the bank expecting my new salary!!!

God of signs and wonder did this and He,s doing more.

Has the holy spirit finished visiting christians and ending their disputes? Even the basic nature of Jesus has not yet been agreed by Christians while the holy spirit is laying idle without visiting them and correcting their disagreemen. Is Jesus God or is he distinct from God? Some christians say he is God himself while others say he is different from God and just simply a part of the God head as the son. The holy spirit is yet to visit christians and clearly explain that to them the basic nature of Jesus, but It is me an atheist that has seen the delusion for what it is that you want the holy spirit to come and visit abi? Tell the holy spirit to hurry up and come. We will have dinner and eat lots of chicken when it comes.

Thats the problem, you guys keep generalizing! And you keep sinking and twill affect your general life if you dont pause.

The Holy Spirit has been visiting you but you are too carried away with whatever is clouding your judgement.

You papa will not provide everything you want. At some point he will refuse given you what you need, now that dosent stop him from been your papa.

Acknowledge the Trinity. Call on the name Jesus and He will answer you...with signs. Ask the Holy Spirit direct you. Read the bible my broda.

It took me like 8 years to finally accept that God is a man made idea and creation and that my religion was just the same like that of the others (nothing different or special about it). I became depressed for reasons I couldn't explain. I felt terrible about myself. I regretted ever going to Europe to study, hated Nairaland . I truly wanted God tp be real but I those questions and the reality kept starring at me in my face.

With the veil off my eyes I saw that the church was just a normal assembly of humans. There is nothing that goes out outside the church that doesn't go on inside the church. NOTHINH AT ALL. All the adultery and fornication that goes on outside the church also go on inside the church, all the fraud, deceit, lies, pretence, violence, marital issuesetc that were going on outside the church were also going on inside the church. I fully realized that nobody holy pass. The pastors were no different ftom me or any other person in reality. We are all humans groping in the dark and trying to find our ways when it comes to the issue of morality and uprightness.

I realized that I was a better human being than most of the people I held or put on a high pedestal because of my religious beliefs.

After a while I settled in accepted atheism and became an unapologetic athiest.

You guys put too much emphases on human behavour instead of God, Jesus and the holy Spirit. Humans are canal they 'll always fail. Have a personal relationship with God my broda. Becos you think you are smart and strong willed, you question everything and you got drowned in your curiousity. The Holy Spirit will visit you again as always.

Parents Gone Wild: Bleaching Children's Skin:
by Oluseye Igbafe
I heard about this for the first time a year ago at the birthday party of a friend's child. One of our mutual friends walked up to me and after pleasantries, said to me:

“Sis, your daughter is very pretty oh.”
“Thanks”, I replied.
"What cream do you use for her?” She asked
"Cream?! I use Johnson Baby lotion."
"Only?! What do you use to bring out her colour?” she persisted.
“I don’t really understand you,” I answered her, “What colour am I bringing out?”
"No oh, you should use something that will bring out her colour. Don’t you know she will be prettier (sic) if she has fair skin?”

I cringed inwardly. All the while, I had struggled to believe she couldn’t possibly be saying what I thought she was saying.
“You mean I should start bleaching her skin? At what age and why would I do such a crazy thing?! It’s not necessary my dear,” I answered her firmly.
"It is oh my big sister. Especially for a girl but not bleaching; haba, not even toning! It’s just to bring out her colour oh and it’s not a sin," she said. "Even you should bring out your colour more,” she added.

I swallowed my raging retorts and simply said, “I hope you don’t do that for your son? He is way too small to have anything being rubbed on him. I beg of you."
*Well, since he is naturally fair-skinned, I am just maintaining it, I have been mixing his cream with Movate since he was born,” she replied
I was unable to dissuade her before we got interrupted and I eventually forgot about the conversation. Till about 2 weeks ago.
I walked into a supermarket and saw a heavily bleached woman with three beautiful girls who were looking “toned”. Their faces were conspicuously lighter than the rest of their body and their knees and knuckles were quite dark. Their ages ranged from age 10 to possibly 5.

I then decided to research the concept of parents bleaching their kids and what I found out is that there is indeed a craze for fair-skinned children; and many parents are turning their dark skinned children to fair-skinned. They claim they are helping their kids maintain their “natural skin colour”.

A lady told me it’s not bleaching or toning if it’s done with natural products. She uses Shea butter, Turmeric, Lime/Lemon, Camphor etc. to prepare “natural” soap for her daughter. Another lady recommends mixing their creams with hydrocortisone or clomatrizole creams for a “clear” smooth skin. I was simply shocked.
First, I think this generation has totally gone bunkers with vanity. No, this isn’t vanity, its shallowness of the highest order. I wrote a post last year on Sexualization of Children and though it went viral, I can assure you we are getting worse.

Why does your child need to be fair to be beautiful? What is the correlation? Where did that concept come from? What happened to Black is Beautiful? I believe every child is beautiful and even then the very beautiful ones are not just beautiful because of their skin tone but their facial structure and features.
Secondly, it’s way too early to start enhancing your child’s features to promote beauty. Children should have no vanity issues. Again I say, allow them to be children and do not give them self-esteem issues by acting as though they are not beautiful enough. Tell your children, they are beautiful irrespective of their skin colour or tone. If you as a parent can’t accept them for who they are or what skin tone they have, how do you expect them to grow into confident women who value themselves?

Lastly, do you have any idea the possible side-effects these creams will have on their skin? Rubbing chemicals on their skin for years could possibly be setting them up for skin cancer. I mean, a lot of those creams contain Mercury and hydrocortisone which have been linked to cancer even in adults.
And please do not hide behind, “I only use natural stuff so it’s harmless”. Are those things meant to be rubbed into the skin? Is Turmeric meant to be rubbed into the skin every day? Lime and lemons are acidic and will definitely have their own effect. Camphor?

I know Shea butter is good but your motive should be just to Oil or moisturize their skin to prevent it from dryness. If there is a vanity aim to your “natural method” then you are part of the problem.

Leave your child’s skin alone. Don’t set him or her up for future problems due to your own narrow view of beauty. Personally, I believe parents who bleach or tone their child’s skin should be arrested and prosecuted. It is the height of irresponsibility.

Let’s allow children to be children. Let them know whether they black, brown, yellow or white, they are all beautiful.

Women are the problem, op. Thats what you get with shallow mind social media competition. Lota ladies are loosing comon sense of reasoning becos they want to keep up. Ignorant is not helping matters.

It amazes me when you see kids posing like adault to take pictures on the instruction of an adault. Some kids will be dancing raunchilly at kiddies parties and i'll be like waawoo!
Let kids be kids aunties, mommies, ejo, please!

It depends. I don't think it's okay.
I have being faced with a similar issue.

In my case, the guy was making advances at me though I am very aware that their relationship didn't work! It was based on character difference anf gynotype tinz but I ignored since the lady in question was a cousin of mine.

So she (my cousin) came to me, no be small thing ooooo I refused even though she insisted that the guy specifically asked for me out of all my cousins shocked shocked shocked

I no gree ooooo because e get as this kind tinz dey work. Gossip dey easy to spread, tomorrow now you go hear say she snatched her sister's husband!

How many people I go explain to
So I no yield ooooo because I know say God go give me MY OWN

I love your strong reasoning and your sence of comon sence, lol.

For me any girl connected to my friends or brothers, especially when the friend or brother is far away and not around, i dey give the girls arms lenght, long distance because i cant see me intimating with such girls. So, ill forever give gap.

There is always possibility of this unexplainable connection established that could spark an affair.

There are lota girls out there, so ill go all out.

Business / Macdonald Restaurant Stylishly Rolling Out Outlet In Ikoyi? by StoneColdBiceps(m): 5:03pm On Jul 09, 2017
So, i was on my way to church today at Park View Estate and i saw this almost completed construction site. The fence is covered with Macdonald banner (pix attached) to cover it from peoples view. I was like, where could they find the banner when there is no Macdoe in Naij. The site is at the second gate of Park View Estate.

I'm prettie sure they are rolling out a flagship Restaurant in Naij and in Ikoyi.

Who else saw this?

Religion / Re: Fayose: How Idahosa Converted My Father To A Christian In 1980 Ibadan Crusade‎ by StoneColdBiceps(m): 8:48pm On Jul 07, 2017
ebosie11:
‎Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Friday revealed that the late tele-evangelist,  Archbishop Benson Idahosa, got his father converted to a born again at a crusade in Ibadan, Oyo State in 1980 and that his father later sowed the family's only car to propagate evangelism.

Speaking in Benin while delivering the convocation lecture of the Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Fayose said the decision of his father to give out the family's only Peugeot salon car drew the anger of his six wives and 27 children who felt bad about the decision.

‎"Archbishop Benson Idahosa came to Ibadan in 1980 for a crusade and my father attended and he was converted and after Idahosa had finished preaching he said they should donate something for God's work and since my father was converted and deeply touched, he gave out the family's only Peugeot  car.

"He changed the car's ownership and particulars and brought it to Idahosa that he was donating it to support evangelism. Though the entire family was against it because we thought it would affect the family's movement, the seed of faith paid off in the end. Those who donated were prayed for by the Bishop.‎

"I was so pained that I blocked the gate and insisted that the 504 station wagon will not be taken out of the compound, my father called the police that I was preventing Ben Idahosa's car from leaving our compound, my father had indeed changed the vehicle particulars so I had to succumb to the police.

"But today,  God has prospere‎d the family.‎ It's good to give to the Lord and when you do that you are sowing a seed that will germinate for the children and that is working for us now," he said.

Fayose said what he wanted to bring out was the importance of giving to the Lord cheerfully. ‎He charged the management of the institution that the vision of the late Idahosa must not be allowed to die but upheld.

While fielding questions  after delivering the lecture entitled ‎"Education and actualization" , Fayose said handlers of the sector must live their words and put those concerned on the driver's seat.

‎"I withdrew my sons from Olashore International School in Osun State and put them in SUBEB Schools in Ado-Ekiti. My sons attended institutions in Nigeria. Many people in the country say something and do other things," he added.

He also advised youths not to inherit the enemies of their political leaders they know nothing about.

He charged Nigerians to critically examine their leaders before voting them into office.
On how he would actualise his dream of leading the country, Fayose said he would only align himself with God's power, saying with God nothing is impossible.

This Olowogbogboro appears to be the latest craze in town.

Is it the latest instrument these charlatans have devised to distract the gullible from hard work and reality? Just asking.

No.
