Hon. Enetimi Government has been announced the winner of the just concluded APC primary election for Burutu Constituency 2 of Delta State House of Assembly.

He trounced his opponents with a very large margin, bringing jubilation among his constituents.

A very popular grassroot mobilizer, the Abuja based businessman is known for attracting massive youth empowerment schemes in his constituency.

Ever since he declared his intention to represent his people at the Delta State House of Assembly, he has attracted massive support from youths and women especially those who have benefitted from his philanthropic activities.

In a brief remark after he was declared winner, Hon. Enetimi expressed gratitude to the delegates for their support and confidence, assuring that he will not betray them.

According to him, opportunity to serve them will create a larger scale to increase his developmental projects in the constituency by using the instrumentality of the state, adding that a new dawn has come for the people.

Public speaker Ogenna Walter Ekwubiri Set To Host Tongolo TiBe African Concert In Central Africa Republic

A gender advocate and President, World Women Leading Change Nigeria, Ogenna Walter Ekwubiri has been invited to host the 2022 Tongolo African Concert which will take place in Central African Republic on May, 28-29, 2022.

Barr. Nazeel Aliyu Emerges NNPP Reps Candidate For Shira/Giade Fed. Constituency Bauchi

A social and youth inclusiveness advocate, Barr. Nazeel Babaji Aliyu has emerged the House of Representatives candidate for Shira/Giade Federal Constituency of Bauchi on the platform of New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP.

Humanitarian Actions in Ukraine Should Be Without Discrimination to Africans - Martins Acha

The invasion of the Russians into Ukraine now generally known as the Russian Ukraine war no doubt has got the whole world thinking if there is about to be another World war. While images of bomb blast of the war torn country have drawn sympathy and in many cases empathy as we have seen killings of civilians many of which are women and children, it is hard to not ask that the war stops.

According to Martins Acha, the Co-Founder of M&E Acha Foundation, there have been calls for European neighbors and the United States to accept more Ukrainian refugees. Amongst those trapped are people from other countries including those from Africa. Soon after the Russians began invading Ukraine, we saw an out flock of people immediately migrating through the borders but there was evidence of ill treatment of Africans
Mr Martins Acha who has been an advocate of equal and fair treatment for all without recourse to race, stated that despite many outcries for the Ukrainian authorities to investigate this, Africans were stuck at the border for several days and were made to face the unfavorable conditions of the weather, living without food and water. Africans only wanted to have the opportunity to flee Ukraine like every other white Ukrainian who were given better treatment at the borders as the bombs landing in the country does not know who is a Ukrainian or non-Ukrainian. This is a humanitarian issue. Nobody other than women, children and people with disability should be given special treatment. It is HUMAN first.

Ukrainians are being prioritized to leave the country through the Polish border and the Europeans are prioritized next to that, leaving the Africans and other nationals at the bottom of the least. There are well over 15,000 Africans who are studying in Ukraine before the Russian invasion, and thousands more live there as immigrants. These are not just numbers, there are humans behind these numbers.
News coverage on the ill-treatment of Africans in the war-torn region has been poor and this could be because there are more coverage on the war itself as the war is not about race.

Understandably, the war is not about race and there have been few news reports from CNN, NBC News, Premium Times and a few other media outfit, however, this is not enough as the situation still remains the same when you ask the Africans affected by this marginalization. There are safety issues within the Ukrainian cities that the government intend to deal with, however, there may be a bigger safety problem at the border if not addressed, perhaps could lead to an even more concerning number of deaths as we have seen Russian missiles go closer to the border and also hit a train full of people fleeing Ukraine. These are dangerous times and no nationals should be last in the evacuation process.

Anambra Person of the Week: Dr Emeka ,Chairman, Aspire Foundation*

For his impact in community development and contributions towards the growth of sporting activities in the State using personal resources and being able to harness raw talent among young people with the intention to keep them engaged and take them off the street. Also, for being a resourceful young man who has exemplified excellence and integrity in all his endeavors, Dr. Chukwuemeka Okeke is ANAMBRA PERSON OF THE WEEK.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Franklin Okeke is the MD/CEO of Spine Communications Limited, founder of RISE Global Health Initiative California, founder of Aspire Football Club, Adazi-Ani and was the Chairman Caretaker Committee, Anambra State Football Association in 2020.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Franklin Okeke is a Graduate of Georgia State University, Atlanta where he acquired a Bachelors of Science degree and a Master’s degree in Neurobiology. He also has a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of California, San Diego. He is a member, American College of Health Executives, USA, a member Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in the Americas and a member, Pharmacist Council of Nigeria. He is married to Mrs. Ogochukwu Okeke and blessed with three children, Dr. Okeke has over the years, contributed to our society and humanity at large. In 2017, he was honored by the University of California, San Diego as one of their four outstanding healers under forty years old.

Health Care

2015 He oversaw the first healthcare delivery Public-Private partnership in Anambra State through the Anambra Business Coalition. This partnership between RISE Health Corporation and Anambra State Government enabled the rehabilitation of public and private hospitals in the State, a feat celebrated by Governor Willie Obiano, who personally came to unveil some of the projects. In 2013, he rolled out the Free-Clinic-Days program in Anambra that screened over 2000 people and provided 300 parents with free access to medical care. The same year, Governor Peter Obi commended and financially Supported Dr. Okeke’s Nigeria Epilepsy Care Advancement Program (NECAP) where 240 epilepsy patients were enrolled into a free 12-month medical care and support. NECAP was also supported by Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California, Eden Medical Center California and National Hospital Abuja.
2012: Dr. Okeke, in collaboration with Godwin and Patricia Okeke Foundation and Rise Global Health initiative, sponsored a Free Rural Health Fair in Anambra State where 1000 people were screened and educated with 100 families receiving free 12-month access to healthcare at RISE Clinic Adazi Ani.

2016: Nursing students, medical students and members of the Federal Road Safety Commission were trained on Basic Life Support (CPR and First Aid).

2018: Dr. Okeke alongside Dr. Edie Zusman of Neuroscience Partners California sponsored the Anambra Stroke Awareness Campaign project that led to the induction of 42 stroke leadership council members, creation of 11 active stroke treatment groups, education of 447 people about stroke and screening of 344 individuals.

2020: Supported by New Age Mobile Concepts and GUO Transport Services, he organized the Orumba General Hospital Free Medical Outreach that provided over 3000 people access to free medical screening and medical treatment.

Social and Human Capacity Development

In youth development through sports, Dr. Okeke, as the Anambra Football Association Chairman, changed the story of football in Anambra State. He brought together all football stakeholders and gave the game a new vision of making Anambra the football capital of the nation. He relocated the Football Association’s secretariat to a better suited building that provided facilities for club owners, sports journalists, footballers, coaches and referees; he donated two buses to the Association and set off to organize a football Local Government tour for the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State. Dr. Okeke organized media rounds for all football club owners in the State, brought in foreign coach trainers to train our local football coaches and sponsored the maiden edition of My Anambra Football Super 8 tournament that was concluded in April of 2021. This tournament brought some senior directors and executive committee members of National Football Federation (NFF) for their first visit to the State. He has currently launched “My Anambra Football Campaign” that has brought pride to the game of football in Anambra.

Dr. Okeke has further shown his commitment towards creating opportunities for human and social capacity development for young people by sponsoring football scouting programs that have given many talented young Anambrarians the opportunity to be selected to play for football clubs in Europe as well as the over 300 talents he has nurtured through his football club, Aspire Football Club Adazi-Ani, the current Anambra State FA Football Champions.

In 2021, in partnership with VOE Foundation, he organized the FC Bayern Youth Team Exhibition Games and equally launched the Aspire Football Academy Scholarship. Just last week, in collaboration with VOE Foundation, Dr. Emeka Okeke through his Aspire Foundation sponsored the FC Bayern Youth Cup, 2022 Edition which was held at Awka City Stadium on Saturday, 30th April, 2022 and about 10 under 16 players would be trained at FC Bayern football academy in Germany. He has been part of the sponsors of the competition when it was held in Lagos and Abuja.

Dr. Okeke has also made impact in the entertainment industry where he brings together different brands to sponsor a free yearly syndicated musical concert in Anambra State tagged Adazi-Ani Fest. Being a visionary, he purposefully looked beyond the relaxation, entertainment and profit targeted by organizers of similar concerts and turned Adazi-Ani Fest into a platform that allows upcoming artistes display their talents to record label Executives and business moguls who have the potential of engaging them if their act is good enough.

As an employer of labor, Dr. Okeke has engaged over 1,000 youths at various capacities while further giving support to many young Anambrarians to continue their education within and outside the country. Dr. Okeke acknowledges that all his achievements would not have been possible without emotional support from family and friends as well as operational, financial and business support from known brands such as GUO Transport, New Age Mobile Concepts, SIMS Nigeria Limited, Procter and Gamble and University of California, San Diego.

Former Germany international Hans Pflugler will be in Anambra for this year’s FC Bayern Youth Cup billed to take place from April 29 to May 1.


Six years after the Bayern Youth Cup kicked off, Nigeria was included for the first time in 2018 with legendary Giovane Elber and Klaus Augenthaler visiting the West African country to select some of its finest like Daniel Francis, Nwachukwu Christian and Stanley Iheanacho - who went ahead to represent Nigeria's youth national teams.

The 2022 edition is presented in Nigeria by VOE Foundation, Aspire Foundation and Anambra State Sports Development Commission.

Speaking about his visit to Nigeria, Pfluger, who is a Bayern Munich legend, said in a statement made available to GOAL: “After a couple of difficult years, we can’t wait to get the ball rolling again in Nigeria. 


“Our tournament in this country has always been a source of impressive young talents, we are looking forward to giving them once again the platform to show their skill. Our expectation is to select a competitive group of players that, on top of having a unique experience in Munich, will also bring a high-level performance to the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Finals.”

In addition, tournament director Victor Obinna Edeh added that: “The last edition hosted in Nigeria was held in 2020 and with the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic and global travel restrictions, the world finals could not hold. 

“We had a training camp last year with remote support from Germany and a friendly game against the national U17 team to help support the development of players we have selected since 2018.

“We are very delighted to be hosting the national finals this year in Anambra and look forward to seeing exciting new talent who can follow in the footsteps of some of our previous participants who currently play football in Europe.”

In his own remarks, chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Chief Tony Oli opined that hosting the Nigeria National finals in Anambra State is in line with the state government’s vision to position ‘Home for All’ as the football headquarters of Nigeria.

In the same vein, director of program design and development at Aspire Foundation, Onwubuche Tobechi, stated that Anambra 2022 is another way Aspire Foundation is fostering her mission of giving young Nigerians the opportunity of finding themselves through various platforms, this time on a global scale.

2023: Group Moves To Enhance Peaceful and Credibility Of Electoral Process In Nigeria[

A group, Campaign for Peaceful and Credible Elections in Nigeria, (CPCEN) has commenced efforts to ensure that the country's electoral process is enhanced so as to instill trust and confidence of stakeholders through openness, credibility and transparency.

According to the group, credible elections provide leadership for a progress in any society while fraudulent election is an anathema to the people.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Director General of CPCEN, Sydney Asowari E. Jack noted that fraud in election could be reduced to the barest minimum, if the right steps are taken to correct Nigeria's electoral system, emphasising that this could only be achieved if larger members of the society begin to show interest and participating in elections appropriately.

He said, "Such things as food, shelter, and clothing are basics that any society should overcome, by making them available for the citizens.

"Overcoming these things should by all means be a collective concern of all; the government, corporate Organisations and privileged individuals.

According to Sydney Asowari E. Jack, vote buying and selling has almost become a legitimate aspect of the over all electoral process in addition to violence which he said usually occurs at polling areas.

He attributed high level of unemployment as a major enabler of violence during elections.

"The rate of youth restiveness in the country has increased to an alarming rate. This is occasioned by the high level of unemployment in the country. As such the next elections and the coming ones might eventually be more violent than the previous ones.

"Politicians would want to win at all cost, thereby continuing in their nefarious act of supplying the young people with dangerous weapons, including guns, to use to intimidate voters at polling centres.

"Again, the use of underage voters. Most politicians deploy the use of voters who are not up to the voting age. One begins to wonder how these set of voters got registered in the first place. This therefore raises the question about the credibility of INEC during voters' registration exercise."

He said the cardinal objective of CPCEN is anchored on advocating for full participation at the elections, watching out and raising alarm against any fowl play perceived pre, during and after the elections.

He added, "CPCEN will use all necessary means to reach out to the electorate.

"Explore the media for continuous engagement of the electorate. Encourage youth participation.

"Advocate for fair, peaceful and credible elections. Advance for the call for evolving legislation for advancement in electoral laws that would ensure credible elections."

The CPCEN DG also stated that the organization has commenced the collation of one minute videos in English and indigenous languages from stakeholders as a way of making them part and parcel of peaceful and credible electoral process in the country.

He noted that the aim is to preach against violence in all languages the young people can hear so that voter apathy which is a byproduct of violence will be reduced.

HOW WOULD YOU SAY ANAMBRA STATE HAS PERFORMED AT 30?

Anambra is doing well as a state. Just recently, you see a lot of estates being developed. People are developing properties and some are buying. Government is equally trying to build roads and so on. There is growth. Recently, the government built our international airport, which is equally commendable.
Anambra people are not doing badly. In fact, if you are a rich Igbo man, what really comes to people's mind is that you must be from Anambra. That is to say that Anambra state is synonymous to progress. All we are asking from our government is for it to continue to encourage us so we can keep shining like a star.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER REMARKABALE ABOUT A TYPICAL ANAMBRA STATE INDIGENE?

Anywhere we are, one thing we are known for is our enterprising spirit. We are hardworking people. Wherever we are, we like to develop that area.
When Lagos marked their 50th anniversary, we were among the 50 people who were interviewed due to our contributions to the growth of the state.

TELL US WHAT SWISSTECH INDUSTRIES LTD DO GENERALLY?

Swiss Metrotile is one of our brands. We have other businesses that include spare parts, logistics and bonded terminals. But as Swiss Metrotile happens to be a brand that we are in love with, we try to do whatever we can to give it support.
As a result of the love I have for Anambra, when we started Swiss Metrotile eleven years ago the first place we entered was Anambra, not minding that I reside in Lagos. Our first office was opened in Awka and then from there, we moved to Lagos, built in Port Harcourt and then Abuja. We are building one now in my home town and in Owerri.
We try to fill a need. People need a house and Igbos need quality buildings in their hometowns. That is why we decided to start from the East because all Igbo people, especially the Anambra man, have good taste.
After the Nigerian civil war, every one of them thought about home and, thinking home means they wanted to build the best. When we started this business eleven years ago, we noticed that some roofs were fading away and some had leakages. The good ones we had then were very expensive and we decided to bring a solution to these challenges by reducing cost without compromising quality.
If you really want to make it in whatever business you delve into, what you should first think of is how to provide solution to a problem and not the money involved. If you are able to provide a solution, the money will follow.

SWISS METROTILE HAS BEEN SELECTED AS ONE OF THE 30 BRANDS PROMOTED BY ANAMBRA PEOPLE. HOW DO YOU FEEL WHEN YOU SEE YOUR ROOFING SHEETS ON HOUSES?

It gives us a sense of accomplishment because it is one thing to do a good job and another for people to recognize it. AIT has given us an award as a good brand, including NTA and ABS. And today you are recognizing us. I think it is a good thing and that shows we are doing a great job. I keep telling people that we will keep going forward though the economy of the country is not helping matters. We face a lot of challenges, especially when the price of the dollar goes up or as many are flooding the market this day with inferior roofing tiles, it is a big challenge because most times costumers do not know the difference. Our resolve is not to drop our quality as our vision and mission of building a quality brand is firmly fixed in our thinking not minding the challenges.
I Studied Business Administration and bagged my MBA in International Business Relationship. We know what it means for a company to have a good name. When people trust your brand, it leads to brand loyalty. When that happens, whatever you sell under that umbrella succeeds and our mission is to build a trusted brand not only in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE?

We have a lot of plans. We are thinking of manufacturing in Anambra very soon, but in other things apart from roofs. I wanted to bring my partners to Anambra to manufacture roofing tiles, but we found out that it is not viable in the entire Southeast. A good roofing tile goes through the oven about seven to eight times, so you need constant electricity supply to oven bake them. I will advise the new administration to see ways they can do something about power supply even if it means private- public partnership. All the states in Igbo land may as well decide to come together to pursue the issue of power and I am sure they will achieve it. Once that is achieved here in the South-East, investors will be falling heads over heels to outdo themselves in setting up industries and the resultant effect will be jobs, jobs and jobs and massive revenue for government.


WHAT OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS HAVE YOU MADE TO ANAMBRA STATE?

We have given a lot of scholarships in my hometown. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we made some provisions for Anambra State. I have been able to talk to the governor, especially about the road network around my hometown. I have provided a lot of street lights in my place, including transformers for electricity. So, in our own little way, we try to invest in human capital development.

WHAT ADVISE DO YOU HAVE FOR NDI ANAMBRA AS WE CELEBRATE 30 YEARS AS A STATE?

Anambra has grown to be an enviable state. I am happy that the people who have governed us have tried their bit.
What I am pleading with all of us is that we continue to grow from strength to strength. And when it comes to governance, let us search for the honest ones who have the interest of the people and state at heart. So, in as much as we thank our leaders for what they have done, we are also asking them to keep improving. They can do so joint venture projects with some well-meaning Anambrarians and companies like Swisstech Industries LTD in real estate sector, construction of good road network and investment in power generation which will encourage investments and turn Anambra into an industrialized state.
