Kobojunkie:Yes We did. And whats your point?? |
Listening to this guy actually makes me proud of Nigeria. He is very smart, very articulate in his thinking and expression, confident, vision oriented, very educated and commands a good presence. These are the caliber people we should vote for to represent the face of Nigeria in the presidency and international affairs. I am not saying this because i am IGBO but because i have seen leaders In the US and UK answer questions and express themselves their vision, and the aura they command is nothing compared to what this guy does. He has done well. Though he is not perfect, we should give him good credits for what he has done for the country already.Hope Nigerians(Well, the politicians) make the right choice in 2011. |
Something was be wrong with Nigerians. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/news/article26//indexn3_html?pdate=120509&ptitle=Ijaws oppose River Niger dredging&cpdate=120509 Ijaws oppose River Niger dredging From Kelvin Ebiri, Port Harcourt CITING alleged adverse impact the project might have on the ecology of the Niger Delta, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has kicked against plans by the Federal Government to dredge River Niger for the proposed Onitsha Inland Seaport. The INC stressed that the government should publicise the project's environmental impact assessment report before going ahead with it. Spokesman, INC, Victor Burubo, told The Guardian that the proposed dredging of the River Niger would have a negative impact on the lives of Rivers and Bayelsa states people who are predominantly into fishing and farming. His words: "We think that dredging the River Niger is not economically good for the Niger Delta whose people live by fishing and farming. There are enough seaports in the South and the location of the seaports here have not stopped goods moving to Onitsha and Aba. The Onitsha Inland Seaport for which they are trying to dredge the River Niger will create a big problem for us." He added: "The environmental impact assessment report should be made available to everybody. People do these things because there are contracts and huge profits to be made. What is the guarantee that the river will not in the next 15 years become shallow again because of our poor maintenance culture?" The INC urged the Federal Government to improve facilities at the Port Harcourt, Onne, Calabar and Warri ports as well as remove the restrictions placed on certain goods from landing at these ports. It also asked the government to offer incentives to importers and exporters using these ports to encourage better patronage. Burubo added: "The Federal Government should stop the Onitsha port project and enhance the operational ability of existing southern ports. The Onitsha seaport is unnecessary because it will change the whole ecology of the Niger Delta." |
This is really a sad story. Maybe she is guilty of the crime or maybe she is innocent and was set up. Nobody Knows. Hope she gets the trial she deserves. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8029787.stm Pregnant Briton 'faces execution' Samantha Orobator fell pregnant four months after being taken into prison A pregnant British woman faces death by firing squad if she is convicted of smuggling drugs at a trial in Laos, campaigners have said. Prosecutors claim Samantha Orobator, 20, was in possession of 1.5lb (680g) of heroin when she was arrested at Wattay airport in Laos in August. Legal charity Reprieve has called on the UK government to intervene with the Laotian authorities on her behalf. The Foreign Office says it is "paying close attention to her welfare". Miss Orobator, from London, has been held since her arrest at Phonthong prison in the south east Asian country. She became pregnant in the prison in December and is due to give birth in September. In Laos, anyone caught with more than 1lb (500g) of heroin faces a mandatory death sentence. Reprieve legal director Clive Stafford Smith said that on Thursday the authorities in Laos announced that they were bringing forward her trial by around a year to next week. Nothing that happens in that prison is voluntary Clive Stafford Smith, Reprieve He believes the decision to move the trial was only taken after arrangements were made for her to see a lawyer for the first time. He said: "It's pretty shocking that they would do that apparently to avoid her seeing a British lawyer before she has to go to trial. "The notion that no lawyer should be appointed to defend her is outrageous." He said she was "certainly not guilty" and had originally told police the drugs were not hers. Mr Stafford Smith added: "We're dealing with a woman who has clearly become pregnant in prison. Nothing that happens in that prison is voluntary". Labour MP Stephen Pound, vice chair of the all party group on the death penalty, said Miss Orobator was being kept "in the most inhumane circumstances". He criticised conditions in the prison saying there was evidence of "no space, no light, no exercise, no diet, no food, no consideration of the needs of a woman carrying a baby". There is no British Embassy in Laos and the nearest is in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We are paying close attention to her welfare and are in discussion with the Laotian authorities about her case. "We have visited Samantha every month and we have kept in close contact with the family." She said Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Minister Bill Rammell will raise the issue with the Laotian foreign minister when he visits the UK on 7 May. But Mr Stafford Smith fears that could be too late. He said: "The trial will be over by then. We're calling on the government to do everything in its power". He wants the trial to be put back and for Reprieve lawyers and mental health professionals to be allowed into the prison. He is also seeking assurances that Miss Orobator will be provided with a proper defence. Miss Orobator was born in Nigeria but lived in south London from the age of eight. Her father lives in Nigeria and her mother and three sisters live in Ireland. She had been on holiday in Thailand and the Netherlands before travelling to Laos. At least 39 people have been sentenced to death in Laos since 2003 |
TO @dlox01 There is no point arguing with an Ugly, coward, back-stabbing, jealous, dumb-ass, Monkey-looking, less informed and uncircumcised animal like you because I'll never gain anything from it. You win, !!! So go get yourself a real job. |
dlox01:Ok, first of all, i did not attack any tribe in this post you slowpoke. Second, you are an idiot with no thinking faculties. Your people are cowards, jealous, two-faced back-stabbing Animals and block-heads that are the beign of Nigerians existence, casing point "Bicommoron in this forum". They are the reason why Nigeria and everyone in it are in their current state of underdevelopment. Apart from Lagos in the southwest which is by the way cosmopolitan, no other state in it comes to par with states in the southeast in terms of human resources, natural resources and developments without federal handouts. Maybe you have been living in Northern OYO all your life and listening to fools who feed you rubbish and that is why you are misinformed. I'll rather associate mysel with a person who is greedy but have common sense, and whose motivation drives him to success than deal with an empty, lying , ugly, back-stabbing empty-vessel with no brains. |
Utali:You are on the money my friend. If a Sea port comes to Onitsha, Lagos will suffer their biggest blow and that is why they are fighting it tirelessly. I blame the Southeast governors for their lack of responsibility in taking their destiny in their Hands. They are still waiting for Federal Allocation to build an International Airport, Sea Port and other Major projects. What a joke. They are waiting for allocations from a government that wants to see them fail or wants to limit their Independence. These governors should contract these projects with foreign investors and give them lots of tax breaks and incentives to build these things because until a true Nationalist or an IGBOMAN becomes presidents, anything that will make IGBOS independent of other parts of Nigeria will continually be subverted. Dredging a river is not a difficult task. The second largest port in the US (Houston Port) is an artificial port because it was produced by dredging the Houston BAY which continuously gets dredged. When i visited Houston, i was able to appreciate the good work they did in that port. The Anambra government can easily contract with this company or others instead of waiting for Yara-do-nothing. Currently, there is a Seaport in Onitsha but it cannot be put to use because the water is too shallow for heavy vessels. |
Hey Enohj2ee, do you have any source(s) for this. Is this your personal opinion or from the Senate? because the last time i checked, the only region that needs an additional state is the Southeast. More states means more bureaucracy. In my opinion, we should go back to regions, but it will never happen anytime soon, so the only option at this time is to make the best out of the ones we have. But if those stated must be created in other regions, 2 states then must then be created in the southeast for equity and proportional representation in the House and Senate. Its is really ironic and saddening that when time comes for a state to be created in the southeast, every region intentionally starts agitation for a new state so in that process, the bill dies, everything is throne out and none is created. It is a shame. I also blame the southeast politicians for not having any consensus yet on which state should be created. |
If you read the article closely, you'll see that those guys in Onitsha were actually relocated to a new site which also happened to be another federal land, but they just don't like the location or had a better preference. It is unfortunate that past governors in most states in Nigeria never did any City planning, so everything is everywhere. To take the streets of Nigeria into the 21st century, something has to give. Unfortunately, average citizens in Lagos, Onitsha and now Enugu are bearing the brunt of these restructuring and it is disheartening. I hope these governments find ways of relocating or compensating some of these traders in a way that makes sense or that prevents from them from feeliing that Tribalism played a role in their quest to develop their cities. |
Sagamite:Hey Sagamite, just for your information, i am not here to compete for best test taker in critical thinking, neither am i here to display how smart i am or how good i am in twisting the truth or what makes simple sense to my benefit just like Biinna and perhaps others. So stop your inarticulate grading and find something for yourself to do. I suppose i already have a very low opinion of your thinking and reasoning because if what you have read here in this thread is your criteria and definition of good logic and reasoning, then you must have been dealing with illetrates, low IQ people, less educated, rounded and pragmatic people all your life. I have dealt with, associated with, schooled, rated, reasoned with, dinned with the leaders in top positions around the world, schooled with the most educated and have produced great results and findings with the best of the best, so when i see a person with good logic and thinking, I'll call him/her out and give him his or her due credit. Biina's case is definitely far from it because though he makes sense in some of his arguments, articulates a substantial portion of them with tribal sentiments, pandering and hatred. Consequently, i have no iota of respect for him in this context. Maybe i will someday, when he is able to demonstrate unbiased critical thinking and reasoning with good logic on neutral issues. |
biina:Like i said, you are a slowpoke and a Hypocrite. You don't call people names, then i suppose you never proofread your post or maybe you were posting from your nose not your brains. And, yes, my character is a character that believes in personal strength, justice for all, equality etc and definitely one that never allows imbeciles like you to walk over them. And what credibility of Nigeria are you talking about. The one you and others have ruined and destroyed; and other harworking nigerians like the Girl in question here is trying to rebuild from her little achievement. And i have the power and right to say anything i want because it is called freedom of speech. Maybe you think Abacha is still in power. You are a big fool and have stupidity written all over you. Anuofia |
biina:To Biina Listen guy, i don't have to indulge in back and forth ranting with you because it'll be like arguing with an Illetrate priest, who when a joke is made in Denmark, encourages the killing of innocent citizens in Nigeria. You both are probably in the same league because you lack spatial reasoning. You should go pull your people out of poverty and mediocrity before asserting that others are celebrating mediocrity. If i must celebrate anything, i will celebrate the Intelligence, harwork, confidence, pride, riches etc of my people before anything else. I may not agree with the poster for overhipping the girls achievement, but you, as stupid as you are have no right and audacity to put down her acheivements either. And for your information, intership is not intership. All animals are equal but some are more equal than the others. If everybody could get an internship in the white house or congress, then, i don't see why they have only 10% success rate. Working in the White house or congress is a unique and special experience you and most people around the world will never have. If they have 10% success rate and she is part of that 10%, then she must have had something better than the other 90% of people that never got in. You ARE slowpoke AND AN IGNORANT FOOL. Your words speak for you and your tribal sentiments and jealousy will always lead you to make crazy and unfounded attacks like these on fellow Nigerians. You should go rid your brothers of thier idiotic mentality and get them educated before coming here to talk about selfesteem. And yeah, i have a lot to boast about when it comes to what gives me my superior selfesteem and i don't think i have to start explaining them to you because it will be like talking to a 10yr old. I can rejoice in the success of anything i want to at my leisure because i have earned it. Whether it is the success of the UNN guy that made some remote discovery or the success of an ordinary nigerian who gets out of hardship by building a business from ground up without capital, i deserve and reserve the right to smile and hail the success of anybody and the judgement is not yours to pass. So got get yourself something better to do before crucifying a hardworking college student for her good achievement. BASTARD.!!! |
I think we should celebrate this Achievement as a Nigerian Acheivement because we all rip the benefits that way and reduce tribalism. But i also don't see anything wrong in people rejoicing in the success of their own. As for you Biina, you must be out of your mind to discount that girls achievement as just ordinary. That also tells me that you have a lot to learn. Those white house and congressional internships are very competitive to come by. Thousands apply yearly for them, they have very rigourous screening processes and only the talented, vsion oriented and intelligent students with very great potentials are recruited. So to put her acheivement in the same level as other company internships makes sound less informed and exposed than you think you are. Give Honor to whom honor is due. If that was your sister, i am sure you will print her posters all over your house. |
tpiah:Iweala is not a Sacrificial Lamb. The view of one person does not define a persons achievement. Let us stick to the topic without diversion. The fact is that some Nigerian officials are in big denial of the great things an IGBO can do if he/she ever occupies the highest office. The excellence they have shown in the positions they've occupied already, instead of being a source of pride to all has become a source of fear and a reason to mount opposition against them. We never rejoice and appreciate each others good work. It is a big shame. |
i have said this before and i will say it again with no hesitation. Nigeria can NEVER, I MEAN NEVER achieve its full political capability, potential and integration until a qualified detribalized igboman leads Nigeria. I am not saying this because i am IGBO, It is because it is the truth. Nobody here can ever blame IGBOS for the current state of Nigeria because they have never had the opportunity to lead the country. Whenever igbos have had the opportunity to serve, they've shown excellence and competence in their service and abilities. Most Nigerians are scared of an IGBO man being president because they feel that he will split Nigeria. No educated IGBOMAN will ever split nigeria because they know how invested IGBOS are all over the country. It is just a stupid reason used in feilding opposition for igbo presidency. Others are scared because they believe that if igbos control so much in nigerian economy presently in light of not being in power for so long, they will take over everything in the country when they get power. This is also a fear which i see and hear other Nigerians agitating about and it is totally unwarranted. Until qualified, educated people like Soludo, Iweala, and many others are given that mantle of leadership, we still have ways to go in Nigeria. |
Dis Guy:You are a big idiot if you think your parents are the Oloshi alakoba, You apparently do not understand ENGLISH and that is why you misunderstood my statement. IGBO man will lead Nigeria in everyones eyes sooner than later and when that happens, i know the fear of GOd will go down your spine and you'll pee in your pants just like your coward brothers. |
You peope, You people, you just make me sick. I am not suprised at the toxic reaction i am getting from some of you because the truth burns like H2SO4 AKA acid. I have been reading all the threads about Soludo, Akunyili and iweala on this forum and all i hear for the most part is Crucify them Crucify them, But the truth is that they have gained so much attention because they have achieved what most have not in the past, they are IGBOS and people feel they have an IGBO agenda and not Nigerian which is totally untrue, they bring sanity to their respective political offices and they are doing a good job. Nobody is talking about the Blackmail Soludo has been getting and weathering since this year just because somebody from the North wants to occupy his position. How many times have we discussed intensively and extensively other appointed Ministers and offices in this forum that does not bear an IGBO name in front of it?? So if all some of you want to do is just talk then do it with substance. Disprove my argument and stop making a jest of yourselves. |
This University should just renamed Micheal Okpara University or Micheal Okpara Federal University period and the federal government should improve its Status to that of Unversites like Obafemi Awolowo Univerisity so they can admit more students( Currently have about a 1000 and should be increased to 20,000). They should include more majors and courses so that people can get an Education. This Agriculture thing is making it impossibe for the school to grow and the government is using it to underfund the school. And more Importantly, a bigger Federal Univerisity are needed IN the southeast because of the profound amount of students applying and seeking admissions in this area. This will become the only federal University in ABIA and will help educate more Abia citizens, Nigerians and others. Thats my 2 cents, |
Aloy.Emeka:Who the hell and what the Hell is Quota System?. IF you don't have any credible comment or argument to make about the thread, then shut-the Bleep-up, go to bed and stop casting unwarranted aspersions and accusations you slowpoke. |
I have seen this as a trend in Nigeria and it bothers me and others that Nigeria will never grow if this trend continues. I am saying this because i am IGBO and this affects my people more than others. Before Ikonjo-iweala became the finance Minister, it was not the dream job of most aspiring Ministers in Nigeria. It was a position that helped presidents siphon money out of the public. But after Ikonjo-iweala was appointed and she performed great and remarkably, that position suddenly became the most powerful and admirable Ministerial position in Nigeria. Every Aboki and other Nigerian politicians started going for Iwealas Jugular so she could be fired. They succeeded but today, the Finance Ministers power and status is now in Oblivion. Nobody talks about it anymore as the most powerful and important and all the hipe is now down and gone and none of the current appointees have done a quarter of what she did for Nigeria and the popularity of that position is now as good as others. Now lets fast forward to CBN governor, Soludo. Most Nigerians never knew who the CBN governor was previously or the power they had or how they performed before Soludo Stepped in. Now, the CBN governor position is now the Most powerful Financial position in nigeria because Soludo has done a good job and made the appropriate use of that position because he is well read and knows his job. He has excelled tremendously, though he is not perfect, but has made the nigerian economy and banking the envy of both western and the developing world. Now suddenly, that position which has never ganned such attention and was never as tasty as minister for petroleum and others is now the most powerful , sought out and discussed postion in the country and yet again, some Nigerians are now looking for ways to blackmail Soludo and get him fired in order to occupy his position. Unfortunately, nobody has a better alternative and the only basis for the agitation is because of Soludos tribe and the percieved notion that all his policies have favored the south vs the North since Obj and now Yaradaus administration. What a JOKE we have become in Nigeria. Now, Dora Akunyili is now the minister of information and suddenly that position which most people never knew existed has now become the big thing, drawing all the attention and everybody is talking. The question WHY?? Why is it that when an IGBO occupies a postion and takes it to the next level, makes appropriate use of that positon, delivers to the people of nigeria and consequently increasing the status of such a position, ALL other Nigerian politicians suddenly Realize the importance of that positon, try to discredit their good performance so they can occupy such position, but as soon as they occupy that postion, it suddenly goes into oblivion and nobody hears about it again?? This has been a trend. IGBOS are harworking and know their job and it is amusing and amazing how some Nigerians make a fool of themselves around IBGOS when they attack the achievements of these people just based on Fear, tribalism and Jealousy? WhO knows the Next position an IGBO man OR woman will occupy and make popular again, and who knows how our dumb politicians will gravitate to occupy that position and ruin its influence and importance in the process. IGBOS will always have the last laugh but Why the HATE and why can't Nigerians rejoice in each others achievements instead of trying to tear them down, ? |
I heard the governor was going a great job in Enugu from multiple credible sources. A friend went home last december and said he was amazed at the level of construction and beauty in the City. I cannot confirm anything SO WE NEED PICTURES AND MOVIES TO BUTTRESS THIS argument. If you think he is doing a good job, produce the evidence and stop the argument, |
I do not support death penalty but this is a situation where i really think it should apply. Heartless Morons. And what will the lame duck Yaradua do about it now?? If he really wanted to stop this type of inhumane atrosity, he would use those soldires as scape goats and example to other law official who commit these henious crimes with impunity. But he won't because hes just not upto the Task .Nothing have been done in the Killings in Jos yet, so what do you expect from an Administation like this. Morons, |
What everyone has to understand is that substance and will counts more than anything else. If you have a vision, a plan and a dream, your future is brighter regardless of circumstances. The you in you is something no one can never take away from you. If you give all nigerians today 5million to eradicate poverty, trust me when you come back the next 10years, more than half of those people will fall back into poverty. My point is that it is not a question of those who control the wealth or politics but the will, dreams and hardwork of the individuals involved. Before the War, igbos in Nigeria had substance and will. They had brains and common sense and the war actually reproduced and enhanced thier spirit of creativity and productivity as evidenced by all the technology and equipments they manufactured from scratch. The nigerian government making them poor at the time was well orchestrated by them and the British to save Nigeria but it was also a blessing in disguise because it made IGBOS work harder for their meal, they became very frugal, developed better and sophisticated negotiating and thinking abilities. This ultimately made them evolve into self-made enterpreneurs from the little they had. Most of that generation who coud not go to university made it an obligation and a thing of pride to make their kids get and acquire what the war denied them and it is paying off. Remember igbos have never been in power since the war and they control a lot in Nigeria. Now imagine if they ever get into power someday, ?? The down side of this on the IGBOS was an increased spirit of individualism which made that word "igbo enwei eze" more pronounced, and it now currently affecting their Unity though this later trend is changing pretty fast. But as somebody who beleive in nigeria and who believes that every kid regardless of origin or tribe deserves a chance, we should not use this as a point of castigation but an opportunity to take education to the north. I weep for nigeria looking at those statistics because it means that the vision 2020 is just a dream. It may be true for people in southern Nigeria, but it is far from reaity for people in the north looking at their poverty level and educational attainment. ANd as long as Nigeria remains one nation, what affects those kids in the North affects all of us. Yeah, we should laugh at the stupidity of the Aboki man for being in Power for soo long without having anything to show for it, but we should also find ways of fixing this mess if Nigeria will ever go forward. And just FYI, That 28% in the southwest could be somewhere in the 30ies if you exclude the IGBOS who have heavy investments in Lagos, ibadan and the southwest generally, so my yoruba brethrens should give igbos some kudos and many pats on their back for helping build thier communities not come here everyday to criticize, bash and chastise them. |
SapeleGuy:Sapele Guy cut this bull off. This is the opinion of one person and it does not change anything and does not represent the views of Anioma people. If Anioma people felt there were not IGBOS, they will not be doing everything IGBO. They have IGBO names, Chair Ohaneze Ndigbo, everything they do is Igbo. Ofcourse, in every 12 there must be a judas. The guy that wrote that article is one of the Judas of Anioma. Likewise, i know a handful of some IGBOS who do not want the Aniomas or Rivers in IGBO to be part of NDIGBO. In both sides of the aisle, you'll find extremist and trust me, majority of Aniomas know they are IGBO, want to be IGBO AND will gladly join the southeast. I don't know why you can't mind your own people. Why are you trying to belong or have people that don't want you?? Well, i can understand that without the igbos, you'll probably be nothing and y' all will turn into militants. Stop the Divsion and face the truth. See, not everybody in Anioma thinks like that slowpoke that wrote your article as evidenced by the following article and many more i am yet to post. SO suck it up dude and wake up to the reality on the Ground. Aniomas are IGBOS, IGBOS everywhere in nigeria both in Rivers and other places are Uniting. Nigerians are scared of the emerging unity OF NDIGBO and are wetting their pants day and night. They know that a fully united igbo nation is a force that can be reckoned with and very unstoppable in all sectors of nigeria. If you don't like it, go jump into Warri river(if it exist) or go get your neck sawed off by those timber machines in Sapele. http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/articles/guest-articles/an-open-challenge-to-anioma-state.html |
Becomrich, you are just a stupid, bombastic, uncircumsized, slowpoke. Infact, i think your're a big bastard because do not know your father because if your father raised you right, you would'nt come to this forum spueing all the rubbish, stupidity and division you like to create. I'll piss on your grave slowpoke. What the hell is wrong with you and what fcking division and peopaganda are you trying to portray?. Idiot. How could you use satelite pictures to judge the population of a people. Onitsha people do not live in singe houses you slowpoke. Almost all houses in onitsha are 4 floors/story high because of too much populatoin in the state compared to land. So how could youl quote there huge population based on some stupid freaking satelite pictures you may or maynot have manufactured you basatard?. What is the essence of this thread. To follow the crowd, your illerate brother Obasanjo and your norther counterparts to under count a peoplE?. That strategy does not work anymore, so you should go find your self a better thing to do. Foolish monkey . Nobody messes with my poepl without getting stung, Bastardistic asshole, |
