DTaj: Naptu, God bless you for this informative commentary.
It is useful to those little children who were either yet to be born as at June 12 1993, 25 years ago, or were too young (at least less than teenage) but who foolishly and ignorantly continue to insult Abiola and other participants in that epic era of politics; an exciting era, as opposed to the current era of daft things called “stomach infrastructure”, “empowerment” (with wheel barrows, tea-making ingredients, grinders, hair-dressing and barber kits, etc), and other inanities.
Anybody was who was at least 13 in 1993 would have related well with your apt commentary.
Bashorun MKO Abiola, as you rightly stated, had a huge number of business interests in so many diverse sectors of the Nigerian economy. On his famed philanthropic interventions, I can write a book!
What MKO Abiola gave to people in education, sports, environment, entertainment, religion (he single-handedly built countless mosques and churches across Nigeria), traditional rulers, etc is 10 times more than anything Aliko Dangote is giving now! There are countless living witnesses to the philanthropist streak of MKO Abiola.
His liberal mind caused him to receive countless traditional titles from EVERY STATE in Nigeria- East, West, South, North! No Nigerian, living or dead, has had that Midas touch.
He was the champion of reparation for Africa by the band of colonialist countries all over the world. He spent his personal funds, huge funds in fact, to fight that cause!
Quite a lot of children took after his exceptional intelligence (Abiola had a First Class BSc. Accounting degree from Glasgow University, Scotland), and he was a chartered accountant and President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE. Some of them, Wura Abiola, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, and Tundun Abiola had First class degrees too. Wura had a PhD from Harvard...Her management consultancy firm, Management Transformation Limited, in Ikoyi, is thriving. I have heard others such as Jamiu, Lekan, Abdul, Ayo, speak too; and they talked intelligently.
History should swiftly return to the school curriculum in Nigeria; I read a lot of unintelligent thrash from the “indomie generation” on NR and elsewhere.
A nation that abandons its traditions, history, and cultures will not make significant progress. It will breed a brood of live-for-today clowns who know nothing about where they came from, let alone know about where they are supposed to go...
Tragic.
For me, the GREATEST thing for which I specially respect Bashorun MKO Abiola is the fact that he refused to chicken out; he rejected a negotiated freedom which would have meant that he betrayed the Nigerian people who voted him. If he had accepted “we-will-free-you-but- forget-about-your-mandate” offer, he probably would have died in exile as a broken man. He died for a cause!
Money could never have bought that! Never!
MKO is our man o!!! Respect to a worthy Nigerian. succinctly said |

NoDulling4here: If I should predict, I'd say Madrid has a 60% chance of winning it while Liverpool has a 40% chance. But Liverpool's chance is still there and it is substantial.
Liverpool is quite predictable in that they ALWAYS play 4-3-3. If Klop can add a little flavor to that formation, work on his defenders to know how to block the likes of Ronaldo and Benzema, practice taking penalties, they might just bring the cup to England.
Real Madrid on the other hand are vulnerable at the back. Marcelo is always venturing forward leaving three defenders at the back. That might prove to be a gift for Liverpool's three musketeers . If Alex Ox-lade and Emre Can play in the final, it will not be easy for Madrid on the right wing. With Liverpool, things can happen so fast and before you know it, you are two nil down. Ask Man City .
In summary, no one knows tomorrow. Any of the teams might win it. great analysis,it shows you understand football, but sadly oxlade Chamberlain is likely not to play |

Xzbit91: You've been watching football for 2decades and don't know that the centre referee is the boss and his decision overrules the linesman's decisions?
A simple Google search will save you all these embarrassment. Better yet follow this link to get better enlightenment https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060623162512AAyGWYW you seem like someone that is new to football, referee can overrule a lines man decision but such happens in rare occasions,it is the primary duty of linesman to catch offside |
Sports › Re: (photo) Zambia Fans Wants FIFA To Order Match Against Nigeria Replayed by striker07(m): 1:46pm On Oct 09, 2017 |
greenhulk: U getting me wrong bro. I didn't say the match should be replayed or the goal should stand. And for the record referee blew the whistle late when the player was already through on goal. But let's call a spade a spade, it was on side though a very close one.
And I'm not judging from mere pics, I've watched it on YouTube from multiple angles, he was never offside. But then this is football, sometimes some decisions go ur way, sometimes it doesn't go ur way and it will continue to be so until video assisted ref is fully adopted. Shebi mkhitaryan of man utd scored an offside scorpion kick goal last season and it stood and Mata scored a legitimate goal that was ruled out for offside. That is football. CASE CLOSED. But we got to call a spade a spade. Thank you,the people saying it was offside, its either they don't know offside rule or they watched a different game or they are just saying that based on sentiment |

The man was offside, the match officials got it right. it was a wrong call,it was a clear goal, many of you guys need to understand how offside rule works,as a Nigerian i want us to win but that doesn't mean i should not be objective |
