Less than a week after constituents of Senator Ben Murray Bruce called Him an Abuja-Senator and threatened to recall Him over gross incompetence and poor representation, the same set of individuals mainly student leaders have made a strange reversal on same subject matter. In a statement titled ‘An Unreserved Apology to Distinguished Senator Ben Murray-Bruce’, which was jointly signed by Comrade Samuel Rinah Tari (National Presidents of all Nembe Students); Comrade Ambrose Joseph (National Presidents of all Brass Students), and Comrade Mark John (National Presidents of all Ogbia Students), that make up Ben's Constituency, the student leaders tendered an unreserved apology to Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, following comments and allegations levelled by the associations against the national lawmaker. The Student Union Leaders who blamed their earlier action on ignorance and misinformation said; “We sincerely apologize for the comments we made regarding Distinguished Senator Ben Murray-Bruce. We did not have our facts correct when we made the statement we did. We relied on unverified hearsay which have since proved to be wrong and now that we have established the truth we which to state the following: “Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has visited his constituencies multiple times since his election. Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has contributed to the development of Bayelsa East over and beyond his constitutional requirements including influencing the Silverbird Group to invest in the area and employ natives of Bayelsa East, and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce is not an ‘Abuja based’ politician but a man who is intricately connected to his people. “We regret the inconveniences we have caused to Senator Ben Murray-Bruce and his constituents, friends and family and we hereby withdraw our earlier statements with its ultimatum and demands”, the students added. Meanwhile a Youth Leader from Ogbia who wouldn't want his name to be made public has accused the common-sense senator of bribing the student Leaders in a bid to save his head from the embarrassment further steps and recall threats may cause Him. He maintained that all the previous allegations levelled against Sen.Bruce were true, therefore there was no need to apologise to Him. " That Sen.Ben Bruce is the worst we have ever had is a glaring fact that even the blind can see. He could never have won even a Councillorship position in this state if not for PDP and His imposition on us by Gov.Dickson. I read the earlier statement by the student leaders and everything they said were common facts but what happened few days after that they are now praising the same man they condemned leaves us with much suspicion. The truth is that Ben Bruce can not bribe all of us. 2019 will soon be here, His type may never return to the Senate.he stated. The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP has openly cried out over its loss at the Election Petitions Tribunal and Court of Appeal during the legal tussle that ensued after the December 10 legislative rerun elections conducted in the state. The position of the party was made public through a statement signed by Pastor Jerry Needam, The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity To The State PDP Chairman. The statement reads below: The leadership of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described as shocking and unfortunate the upturn of the victory of some of the duly elected representatives of the State in the National Assembly on the platform of the PDP by the Appeal Court. Bro Felix Obuah, State chairman of the Party while reacting to the Appeal Court judgement that nullified the election of Senator George Thompson Sekibo representing Rivers East and few other PDP lawmakers however appealed to the Rivers people to remain calm. Confident that their mandate cannot be in vain, the State PDP boss said truth will surely triumph over mere logic of art to thwart justice. The significant point, Bro Obuah noted, is that the Rivers people through their votes had chosen their real representatives and still stand by their decision not to have anything to do with those security agency and military-aided impostors who are now celebrating their Appeal Court victory, stressing that their celebration will be short-lived. “If not for their self-seeking motive, why would they not accept the verdict of the people. Why would they go extra miles to bring in soldiers and all sort of bullies to maim, destroy and kill their kith and kin to secure an undeserved victory with the full backing of their allies at the centre,” the State PDP boss queried. While thanking the teeming members of the PDP across the State and the entire Rivers people for their patience and steadfastness throughout the legal fight against those he described as enemies of the people, Bro Obuah said there is still hope because the State governor, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike is competent and prepared to ensure that Rivers State remains on the path of development and progress, and will never allow any conspiracy with external forces to succeed in their plot to mortgage our State and the future of our children. The Rivers PDP chairman averred that gang-up against Rivers people, the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike, and scramble for the resources of the State would certainly fail. Bro Obuah regretted that, under the APC administration in Nigeria a lot of wicked and unthinkable things take place that are capable of scuttling Nigeria’s democracy. “The shortcut to acrid and undeserved victory by the APC in Rivers State is anti-democracy, destructive, and capable of promoting violence”, Obuah said. In what appears to be a departure from the normal, President Buhari yesterday banned cameras from the presidential villa mosque. Buhari who observed the Juma’at prayers at the mosque in the villa for the first time in over three months was joined by other worshippers including state governors, top government officials as well as Muslim staff of State House for the prayers. Suanu's Blog gathered that Buhari's directive was communicated through a message sent by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina to State House correspondents shortly before the prayers were to commence According to Adesina, cameras would not be allowed in the mosque from now henceforth. Following the judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Thursday that sacked the Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Sen.George Thompson Sekibo of the PDP and the declaration of Chief Andrew Uchendu of the APC as the winner of the rerun election and Senator-elect, all appear set for an event to celebrate the landmark Judgment. The Appeal Court Judgments which seem to have resuscitated and resurrected the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress have received wildfire celebration in different parts of the state. As a way of celebrating the decisions of the Appeal Court and especially the victory of Chief Uchendu, party faithful, supporters and well-wishers of the victor are planning an intimidating welcome parade for the Senator-elect who is to arrive the state from Abuja through the Port Harcourt International Airport on Saturday 26th, August. 2017 by 12noon. In what appears to be a direct plan to mock the sacked PDP Lawmaker, Suanu's Blog gathered that all APC Members and Supporters have been urged and mobilised to trooped to the airport on Saturday (today) with their Whistles and Brooms. The whistle is to disgrace Sen.Sekibo who many had referred to as the whistle-blowing senator following a drama he acted on the floor of the Senate during the Ikoyigate saga while supporting the claim of the state Governor, Nyesom Wike that the discovered money belonged to Rivers State Government. Ofcourse the broom is the symbol of the party. Chief Andrew Uchendu is known as the Most Experienced and Longest Serving Legislator in Rivers State. Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/08/peterside-offers-n5m-reward-for-arrest.html?m=1 The candidate of the All Progressives Congress,APC in the 2015 Governorship Election in Rivers State and current Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dakuku Peterside has offered a reward of N500,000 for anybody that has useful information that can lead to the arrest of a wanted murder suspect, Ifeanyi Dike. Ifeanyi Dike, a 200-level student of the University of Port Harcourt was last weekend arrested by the police in connection with the gruesome murder of an eight-year old Miss Victory Chikamnso. Ifeanyi Dike is also accused of raping the minor and cutting some vital parts of her body in what is being alleged for ritual purpose. However, Dike was said to have escaped from police custody in suspicious circumstances, prompting a manhunt by security agencies. According to a statement by his media team, the NIMASA Boss on hearing the sad development, condemned the escape of the suspect from police custody, saying Dike being on the loose is a threat to Rivers people and neighbouring states. According to him, “we must all rise and condemn this heinous crime. What could an eight-year-old girl have done to deserve this wicked act? What kind of future are we trying to give our children? Are we trying to say that our girls are no longer safe? Are we saying that our girls do not have future? "Without women, we have no future. The onslaught on girls and women is becoming increasingly disturbing. We must protect our young girls and women. This could have happened to any family. This is deeply saddening. “Please, I do not want my action to be seen through a political prism. The dastardly act should be a concern for all of us as Rivers people. Let us join hands with the police and ensure the re-arrest of Ifeanyi Dike.” He urged the Commissioner of Police in Rivers state and other sister security agencies to leave no stone unturned in the arrest of the suspect as quickly as possible, while commiserating with the family of late Miss Victory Chikamnso.

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday has upheld the election of the Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Magnus Ngei Abe. This is in line with an earlier judgment given by the Election Petition Tribunal. Dissatisfied with the decision of the lower court, the candidate of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Olaka Nwogu had filed the appeal. Dismissing the appeal of the PDP Candidate, the court said the defendant failed to show through credible evidence that the election of December 10th, 2016 in Rivers South-East was not conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act. Similarly, the Court of Appeal few hours ago had also upheld the election of Andrew Uchendu (APC), dismissing the appeal of Sen.George Sekibo (PDP) By these decisions, the APC in Rivers State now has two Senators while the PDP has just one. Since President Buhari returned from His longest Medical Vacation on Saturday, controversies trailing his sudden return have refused to end. Ofcourse, some persons never expected him to return alive, while others are worried as to his fitness to actually resume the functions of his office. Chief of those recent controversies was the Presidential speech on Monday. Only political sycophants saw substance in the speech as many concerned and independent minded Nigerians referred to the five minutes speech as a 'missed opportunity' and the shortest in history. Others described the speech as a recorded one aimed at avoiding any embarrassing moment as they believe the President is not still strong enough. More so, others also saw the speech as a reminder of Buhari's military take over speech. Be it as it was, the speech has come and gone. The next was the rumour that the President is to work from his home. Some Nigerians on hearing that quickly attributed it to the President's health. However, a statement credited to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu further heightened the controversies. Mr.Shehu had revealed that the President was working from an unofficial office in his home for now due to the damages done to his office by rodents while his long medical vacation lasted. Rats? Yes! One begins to wonder if other workers at the Presidential Villa including cleaners also went on their own separate medical vacations. Perhaps what could rodents be doing in a luxurious place like a presidential mansion? I thought rats were commonly associated with the poor, little did I know that rodents could also find their way to the powerful Aso Rock. More so the extent of damaging many things in the President's office to the height of preventing Mr.President from resuming therefrom raises eyebrows. According to Shehu, the President's office is undergoing serious renovation and cleaning as the 'presidential rodents' damaged the furniture and air conditioning units in the office. As ridiculous as this sounds, my worry is at whose costs? Who is going to pay for the so called damaged air conditioning units and furniture? Where were cleaners of the office? Is the President's office not usually fumigated even in His absence for that long? Where the cleaning staff not receiving their salaries during the president's absence? Wasting tax payers money this way in a country where more than half of the population dines with abject poverty is absolutely unacceptable. Add this to the fact that the calls for many Nigerians to know the ailment of the President have fallen on deaf ears despite the country spending huge sums on His medical bills and miscellaneous abroad. The story of the Presidential Rodents is simply another looting opportunity as millions of naira will be spent thereon. Governance must be given a human face and unnecessary wastage in these hard times in the country must be avoided. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has denied rumours going round that he had promised to commit suicide if President Buhari returns home alive. In a statement by His Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said the rumour was a “creation of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state.” “Mr. Fayose never said he would commit suicide if the President returns to the country,” he insisted. “It is the creation of the APC. It is their style to create such falsehood.” He said, instead, the governor had wished the president well and had joined others in praying for him. Nigerians have been calling on Gov.Fayose to fulfill His Suicide Promise since Mr.Buhari arrived Nigeria from medical vacation on Saturday. Few days after the Rivers State Police Command paraded a 200 level Student of the University of Port-Harcourt, Ifeanyi Dike over the rape and ritual killing of an eight year old girl, reports indicate that the suspect has escaped from police custody. The Father of the child, Earnest Mezuwuba said the suspect escaped from the Police custody shortly after giving his statement at the State Criminal Investigation Department same day he was paraded by the police. Despite the return of the President on Saturday and all the excitement that greeted His arrival from medical vacation abroad, the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the President's All Progressives Congress,APC in a bye-election held in Gombe State on Saturday. The returning officer, Professor Mohammed announced the results in Malala, Dukku Local Government Area of the state on Sunday declaring the candidate of the PDP Alhaji Kawuwa Malala as the winner of Dukku North Constituency bye-election in to the Gombe State House of Assembly. He said Malala polled 7,060 votes to defeat his opponent of the APC, Alhaji-Alhaji Inuwa, who scored 4,023 votes. He said that PDP candidate, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes, was declared the winner and returned elected. Siadu said three polling units with 1,700 votes cast were affected by irregularities and had those votes cancelled. According to him, the cancellation will not affect the election, based on the electoral law. The newly elected lawmaker expressed his happiness and assured his constituents of good representation at the Assembly. Malala is to replace late Alhaji Gambo Kabade of the People Democratic Party (PDP) who died in June 2017. Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/08/gombe-by-election-pdp-trashes-apc.html?m=1

The recent journey of the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Kingdom on May 7,2017 has been the most controversial and heated amongst similar visits in the past. Buhari’s frequent visits have been for medical attention over an undisclosed ailment rumoured to be cancer. The attention the latest medical vacation that have lasted over 100 days has attracted may not be unconnected to the resurgent of the main opposition party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP after the Supreme Court verdict as well as the loss of patience by some Nigerians. The past two weeks have witnessed series of verbal attacks on President Buhari including local and international protests urging Him to #return or #resign. While the local front was championed by self-acclaimed area-father, Charly Boy, the international front was spearheaded by some concerned Nigerians who have increasingly become uncomfortable with the stagnation in the country due to the absence of the president. While President Buhari has remained unperturbed about the protests insisting that he was awaiting the final order from his doctors in London, the protests took a different dimension with groups loyal to him (Buhari) also displaying their loyalty and solidarity. Both Pro and Anti-Buhari protests have been greeted by accusations of being sponsored by individuals or groups with differing interests. In the midst of the protests, some influential Nigerians turned Abuja House into the new Mecca with the recuperating President receiving various visitors almost on a daily basis and snapping photos with them all. This act resuscitating the hope of Buharians who were almost falling for the Fayose-FFK-collabo that Buhari was already dead in London. Interesting enough, while some Nigerians based in London were on a vigil in front of the Buhari-London resident few hours ago, the President continued to laugh at them while watching the local TV Station, NTA until He slept off. Unknown to the protesters, Buhari’s luggage were already arranged enroute back to His country. In a statement by Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina early Saturday, the big news was finally released out of the bag-Buhari is set to return to Nigeria today. Adesina quickly extended Buhari’s appreciation to all Nigerians who had continued to pray for His recovery and safe return. The Presidential Spokesperson also revealed that the President on His arrival will address the nation on Monday 21 st August 2017. This is exactly what some Nigerians have been longing for-to hear from their president directly and not mere dumb pictures. True to Adesina’s earlier statement, the big eagle finally arrived Saturday evening in grand style with lots of excitements from different parts of the country. Journalists of course were disappointed as Presidential Protocol Officers didn’t allow them to engage the new-bride President. Maybe they too have to wait till the Presidential Address on Monday. On Monday, what will Buhari finally tell Nigerians? What will He tell those who had long expected his corpse? What will he tell those who had prayed terribly and trusted God, sorry Allah for His safe return in perfectly restored health. Against the expectations of many Nigerians, there are indications that President Buhari will announce His resignation in that much awaited national address. Yes, His RESIGNATION . Recall that as the health of President Buhari had continued to rise more fears from different sections and interests in the country, the gang of “king-makers” had at various times had meetings either together or separately with the President. Some of those meetings were not just to ascertain the health issues of the President but strong suggestions were made by some of this gang for the President to consider resigning in case He is convinced His health won’t allow Him to continue to perform the rigorous tasks required of His office. Olusegun Obasanjo, Yakubu Gowon, Abdusalami Abubakar and Ibrahim Baban gida, you remember them? Taking a closer look at the recent pictures of the president that has been trending on social media, it is extremely doubtful if the President is now strong enough to resume office. What is informing His recent decision to return to the country may not be far-fetched as all seem not certainly well with Mr.President. A source close to the presidency disclosed to Suanu’s Blog that the President is seriously considering the option of stepping aside so as to take proper care of his health and allow for the smooth running of the country. “Mr.President is worried about the spate of events in the country. From the IPOB agitations, the reciprocal reaction of Arewa Youths, the problems of herdsmen, the economic challenges, similar threats for secession by the Yorubas, the Niger Delta, the Middle Belt and others, and the recent local and international protests that have taken an embarrassing dimension. The country seems more divided than ever and the President is aware that His absence due to ill-health isn’t helping the provision of the leadership and good governance Nigerians expected”. On whether Mr.Buhari had revealed this to His Aides, the source said, “At the moment, it is a top secret. The president has decided to keep His tentative plans from many of its aides because of the various interests surrounding him and how they may react differently. Buhari is an elder statesman who is so passionate about this country. He has made several sacrifices to keep this country together and prosperous and history will be favourable to Him in this regard. All the President wants is what will be in the best interest of the country and not to service the interest of just few persons” the source explained. If Mr.President takes the path of this rare bravery, He will leave several Nigerians including His loyalists and supporters extremely shocked. However, Buhari’s dilemma is better imagined as the presidential cabal who will be greatly affected have tried tremendously in the past to persuade Him against considering the option of resigning from an office He has repeated tried to get to but failed on three occasions. Like in the days of President YarAdua, the cabal are bent on managing Mr.Buhari no matter the state of His health at least till the end of His tenure in 2019. Whether Buhari will show utmost patriotism and announce His resignation on Monday or the cabal in the villa will succeed in convincing him otherwise, Monday’s National Address will certainly reveal that. To many Nigerians, their happiness is that Mr.President is back, while to others, it is all about how strong he is to continue in the capacity of the President of the most populous black people on earth or otherwise. As provision of security becomes an increasing challenge, some state governments especially in the northern part of the country have continually required and utilised the services of local hunters and vigilante groups in combating insecurity in their domains. Many of these local security substitutes are usually men but do you know women are up to the task as well? Gearing up to face similar challenge, two female hunters in Taraba State, Aisha Bakari and Habiba Husseini, have revealed their preparedness to assist in flushing out kidnappers from the state if engaged by the state government. They explained that what was most needed in the fight against insurgency and kidnapping was indepth knowledge of the conflict terrain and the people around it and not necessarily the use of force or arms. According to Bakari who is also nicknamed “Queen of Adamawa hunters”, her readiness to assist in the fight against crime in the state was a representation of similar desire by her fellow female hunters in the remotest parts of the state. “We provide useful information to security operatives. I assure you, we will do more if government engages us. “Our people are combat ready to flush out terrorists from Madagali, but we are constrained by shortage of arms and vehicles. “Boko Haram is using sophisticated weapons, but our people lack enough rifles and ammunition to face them,” “All we need is support from government and we will perform wonders,” “All that is required is for the state government to hold a formal meeting with our group and work out the modalities,”.she stated. She recounted how a team of hunters she led to northern Adamawa recorded success in flushing out Boko Haram insurgents from the area, promising to use the same strategies adopted in that operation in Taraba. Bakari said hunters had recorded high level of success in the past four years in battles in Gombi, Maiha and Madagali, noting that the success came with a price as many of them also lost their lives in the battle. Similarly, Husseini said that female hunters in Taraba played a significant role in the recent liberation of many kidnapped victims from their captors. She called on women in the state to be courageous and join the hunters association, saying that women were poorly represented in the war against kidnapping and insurgency. Taraba State has been facing huge internal security challenges recently with many casualties already recorded. It is expected that if the government utilises this offer by the hunters especially in the case of information provision and terrain navigation, security threats in the northern state will be addressed to a large extent. There are serious indications that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, may soon reverse His earlier boycott order on the November 18 Governorship Election in Anambra State. This follows a crucial meeting that took place on Friday between the leadership of Ala Igbo Development Foundation and Kanu in Owerri, the capital of Imo state. Kanu said His decision to attend the meeting was as a result of His respect for Igbo elders and that his struggle for the republic of Biafra was based on justice. "I came because of my respect for elders. IPOB is not a violent group. We are law abiding citizens of the society. “What we hear today will guide us in the issue of Anambra election. I will go and meet with the leadership of IPOB.” he stated. Similarly, the President of Ala Igbo Development Foundation, Professor Uzodimma Nwala, expressed happiness at the presence of Kanu in what he termed the first meeting of the group with IPOB on the 'no election order' in Anambra State. He expressed optimism that the meeting will provide an amicable solution regarding the Anambra Governorship Election. Nwala said: “As you see in our midst, you see our brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we have come to discuss the issue of mutual concern, especially on Anambra election. We are happy he is here with us. “As we know the IPOB decision on boycott of election and you know that IPOB is an orgarnised group and the agitations born out of marginalization of the Igbo. “We are glad he has explained to us the reason they issued the boycott order and that it is not his personal decision but that of the IPOB leadership. We are meeting for the first time and will still meet again. No decision has been taken.” Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/08/anambra-guber-nnamdi-kanu-set-to.html?m=1

Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/08/ekiti-2018-senator-olujimi-ambition.html?m=1 As Aspirants gear up for the 2018 Governorship Election in Ekiti State, South-West Nigeria, the ambition of a former Deputy Governor of the state now Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Sen.Biodun Olujimi seems to have set hell loosed on the Ekiti State House of Assembly. The House which has continued to show absolute loyalty to Gov.Fayose and releasing the suspension hammer on any member who appears to be anti-fayose extended their wrath to Fayose's former deputy. The Assembly at a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Thursday described as sacrilege, Olujimi’s alleged claim on social media that the House members are loyal to her, saying the House was an institution too big and independent to be in her pocket. The Lawmakers also accused the embattled Senator of alleged plan to destabilise the House. They particularly alleged that Sen.Olujimi diverted her constituency projects to personal use in favour of two members of the Assembly, including Michael Adedeji and Adeojo Fajana in order to buy them over. Suanu's Blog gathered that there is a secret cold war between Gov.Fayose and His former deputy over the 2018 governorship poll as Sen. Olujimi had vehemently refused to withdraw her gubernatorial ambition on the order of her former boss. Meanwhile Senator Olujimi who is also the senate deputy minority whip in her reaction has accused the Ekiti State House of Assembly of political witch-hunt. She further accused her political enemies of cowardice insisting that their plot to frustrate Her governorship ambition through the lawmakers will fail. “They are just hiding behind one finger. They are playing cheap and small boys politics, using worn out tricks. Let them try new tricks. It is because they know that I have ambition to be governor of Ekiti State that they are doing this. “They are only using the members to get at me. They should be courageous to face me and not use the members who are not even close to me.” It is unclear at the time of filing this report whether the House will institute suspension procedures against the two lawmakers they accused of being loyal to Sen.Olujimi as they have been known to be intolerant to any member who extends their loyalty outside the immediate political dynasty of Gov.Ayodele Fayose.

As the declared strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, enters day four, the Nigerian Senate has expressed displeasure at the decision of the union to embark on the Industrial Action. Speaking to Journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund , Senator Jibrin Barau revealed that the incessant strike actions by the umbrella union of lecturers in Nigeria was one of the top reasons why public office holders prefer to send their children to study abroad. He also faulted the call by some Nigerians that children of public officials should be restricted to public schools in Nigeria. He insisted that there was dare need for Nigerians to also study in other countries to have socio-cultural exchanges with other countries. According to Barau , the Senate won't make any law that would force public officers to send their children to schools in the country since students from other countries like Cameroon and Niger Republic are also studying in Nigeria . He said, “ Making a law to bar people from taking their children outside to study is something that will not be good for our country . We know that it is always good to mingle with people from other parts of the world when it comes to the issue of education . “ You cannot be an island to yourself; interaction is very necessary . We also allow people from other parts of the world to learn from here . You are aware that students from Cameroon, Niger and other parts of the world come here . We have exchange students who come from European nations to this country. You must have that interaction . ” He urged the government to develop universities and educational institutions to the level that those who sent their children abroad would patronise institutions in the country. While lambasting ASUU for not consulting the legislature before embarking on an indefinite nationwide strike, Barau urged the union to suspend the strike and continue negotiations with the Federal Government. He explained that after the negotiations the Senate spearheaded between the union and the Federal Government failed, ASUU did not report back to the Senate until she had resolved to go on strike . He added , “ We captured some aspect of their grievances in the ( supplementary) budget we passed immediately after the negotiation was concluded . They raised the issues that had to do with their allowances . The allowances were captured in the supplementary budget that we passed as of that time. Meanwhile negotiations between the Federal Government and ASUU is expected to continue today as more universities have reportedly joined the industrial action. Nigerians have taken to the social media mourning the death of Dauda Buhari, the baby, whose manhood was chopped off by his step mother in Niger State. The Director General of Child’s Right Agency, Mariam Kolo, disclosed that Buhari died in Wada village in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, after a brief malaria illness. Kolo in a interview with Punch, on Wednesday, said Buhari had “slight malaria which made his temperature to rise and he died even after he had been administered his prescribed drugs.” He revealed that Buhari died at a time he was scheduled to undergo a genital transplant in the United Kingdom, UK. According to the DG, the sickness was not a relapse on his health, as he was doing extremely well after a series of corrective surgeries. Recall that Buhari’s step mother, Bara’atu Rabiu, had on June 18, 2016, chopped off the toddler’s penis while he was just two-month old. Explaining the reason behind her action, Rabiu, who was 17-years-old, then had said; “I decided to do that in retaliation to insults I’ve been receiving from his mother. She has been insulting me. Anytime I complained to our husband, he will not take any action. That was the major reason I used our kitchen knife to cut off his penis.” She is currently being remanded in the Old Minna Prison as her case hasn't been decided yet. Rest In Peace To Little Buhari. Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/08/dokpesi-sacked-as-crises-rock-newly.html?m=1 Few months after its formation, the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance, APDA is facing serious crises. The crisis intensified in Abuja on Tuesday as some stakeholders claimed they had sacked the Alhaji Shittu Kabiru Muhammad-led Interim National Working Committee of the party. In an immediate reaction , Shittu and members of his committee also announced the suspension of Dr. Raymond Dokpesi , Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, and Mainasara Ilo from the newly -registered party. The three men were allegedly suspended for unlawful gathering in the name of the party and violating the constitutional provision of the party for holding illegal National Executive Council meeting, where the decision to sack the interim NWC was taken. Earlier in the morning, Dokpesi and some members of the party had gathered at what they called NEC meeting and pronounced the interim committee under Shittu leadership, sacked. The stakeholders insisted that the tenure of the NWC members had expired since June 14 in line with the constitution of the party, and that the meeting of where the decision was taken complied with the party’ s Constitution as well as the provisions of the Electoral Act as amended . Dokpesi's faction gave the names of the new officers of the party as Mr . Mainasa Ilo ( national chairman ) , Chief Dan Nwanyan ( Chairman Board of Trustee ) , Mr Amobi Nwosu ( National Secretary ) Alhaji Muhammed Tanko ( Deputy National Chairman , North ) , Dr Fijabi Adebo ( Deputy National Chairman , South ) and Mr . Ide Felix Equabor as the National Publicity among others . Speaking with journalists shortly after the meeting , Ilo pointed out that the former NWC members ought to have organised a “ proper meeting “ to either extend their tenures or elect news officers in line with constitution of the party when their tenure expired but failed to do so. Dokpesi who was a chieftain of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP, out of fear that the party may not survive the just ended crises opted to form the APDA with some of His friends. It is unclear whether Chief Dokpesi would return to the PDP to continue His Chairmanship ambition or continue in His already crises-bedeviled new party.

The Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has again revealed plans by His government to prosecute his Predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi for corrupt acts he committed while in office. Wike was quoted to have said this in an event of traditional rulers held in the state. A statement released by his special assistant on electronic media, Mr.Simeon Nwakaudu to that effect reads below; Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the evidence of corruption against the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is so overwhelming that the Minister of Transportation admitted to them publicly. Addressing the 106th Quarterly Meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt on Monday, Governor Wike said that Amaechi admitted paying $39million for a non-existent Justice Karibi Whyte Mega Specialist Hospital. He added that the Former Governor confessed publicly that he sold the State's Gas Turbines, which the immediate past administration diverted the funds. Governor Wike said: "All the documents that proved Amaechi's corrupt acts are authentic. We never forged documents. The former governor himself admitted that he paid out $39million to Clinotech , without a single block laid anywhere. Is that a document he claims was forged. Where is the Hospital ? "He has agreed in different interviews that he sold the state gas turbines for $309million. Convert $309million United States dollars to naira and you will understand the level of fraud. Amaechi left only $204,000 in the state account. "The bank statements of the pattern of withdrawals from that account are there for all to see. Can that be forged. The dates and amounts withdrawn are clearly written". The governor berated the Minister of Transportation for engaging in the blackmail of the Supreme Court because his appeal is pending before the Apex Court over the establishment of the Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry. "There is no time that he loses a case without blackmailing the Judiciary. He feels that the only way he can do it is to blackmail the Supreme Court. You cannot play politics with everything ". On the use of hotels for electoral fraud, the governor warned that any hotel that opens its facility for electoral fraud and malpractice will lose its operational certificate of occupancy. He said: "Any hotel that is used to rig elections, that hotel's certificate of occupancy will be withdrawn. I will not allow that anymore ". He regretted that the Former Rivers State Governor has continued to work against the interest of the State, refusing to use his position as a Minister to attract benefits to the people. Speaking further, he warned traditional rulers against working with armed gangs to cause insecurity in their communities. Earlier, the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amayanabo of Opobo, King Dandeson Jaja commended the governor for the commencement of the reconstruction of 175 public schools across the state. He appealed to the governor to set up a process to check the sale of illicit drugs in the state. Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/08/govwike-restates-commitment-to-ensure.html

In another show of executive rascality and absolute impunity, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has told aspirants for the upcoming local government election in his state who are above fifty years to dump their ambitions as they won't be allowed to participate. Gov.Fayose stated this in a statement by his Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications, Lere Olayinka. According to the statement, the Governor has fixed the eligibility age at 18 to 40 years. While barring aspirants above 50 years from contesting, the governor commended the National Assembly for its recent passage of a bill on ‘Not Too Young to Run.’ Fayose said he was enforcing the provisions of a bill in the state, which seeks to broaden youth’s involvement in governance. He added that the National Assembly’s passage of the bill that fixed 35 years as the eligibility age for the office of the president, 35 years for governor, 30 for Senate and House of Representatives and 25 for state assemblies, has removed the age barrier in elective offices. “The bill has reinforced my position on the age limit for local council positions in Ekiti State. It is my position that our youths must be allowed to participate in governance since they are the ones who provide the largest votes during elections. “Most importantly, the future belongs to the youths and I believe that they should be given prominent roles in the structuring of that future that belongs to them,” the statement reads. Some members of the PDP who are aggrieved by the Governor's latest directive are threatening a showdown describing the order as autocratic, despotic and unconstitutional. A factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State , Iyiola Oyedepo has lambasted Nigeria's Senate President, Dr.Bukola Saraki referring to Him as 'never a Democrat'. Oyedepo who stated this in a recent interview also accused Sen.Saraki of sponsoring the crises rocking the Kwara State Chapter of the PDP. "I believe the APC has its hands in all these things. They will do it for two reasons: Firstly , they are uncomfortable with me, as a person , as the leader of PDP in Kwara State because when I became the leader of this party, specifically two years ago , after we had lost election , we made our party extremely vibrant and we are so critical of the government of Kwara State . They are not enjoying our incisive comments on their policies, whether in the print media, electronic or social media. They do not want a very powerful opposition to themselves here . Secondly, I suspect that the leader of APC in this state, Senator Bukola Saraki , would want to behave to type and, in his traditional style of jumping from one party to the other, it is likely that if APC becomes too stuffy for him , he will want to jump to another party. He has many of his friends in my party. He might be eyeing our party to realise his ambition and he would not want to come to PDP with me as chairman . He would want an amiable person; somebody he can override and use to enter the system. I have said it. APC is personified by Saraki in this state, so I will not be surprised at all if he is sponsoring them . Speaking further on why Saraki can NEVER defect to a PDP under His leadership, Oyedepo said; "I do not like his method . He is not a democratic leader . He is not a leader that will allow ideas to blossom . I want a place where , even if I am not occupying any office , I will be relevant in decision - making . That place ( Saraki ’ s political camp) is not a place for it . I am not a politician that is just looking for his daily bread . Anybody that wants to be with him might want to have a daily bread. That is not my kind of politics. I have a vision and it cannot blossom under an undemocratic leader . Therefore, I can never be with him . It is not possible that we flock together. We are not birds of a feather." There have been unending rumours that Saraki with the duo of Sen.Kwankwaso and Ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar may be plotting to return to their former party, the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP. Many leaders of the PDP have openly stated that they were seriously reaching out to the trio among their other members who defected to the ruling APC. Saraki, Kwankwaso and Atiku are all eyeing ailing President Buhari's position come 2019. Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/07/oyedepo-slams-saraki-saying-he-is-not.html?m=1

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC may be heading for a final collapse as the local congresses scheduled for today has left the party more polarised and bruised. The Spokesman of the party, Chris Finebone had in a statement issued on Friday revealed that the State-wide LGA Congresses of the party would hold Saturday in all 23 LGAs of Rivers State. Against public expectations, Mr.Finebone failed to provide further details on the scheduled Congresses. Specifically, Finebone failed to provide the locations, venues and time where the Congresses were to hold in all 23 LGAs of the State. He had simply stated that such details have been duly communicated to APC LGA party officers. This was the first bone of contention, as some disgruntled party men had raised the alarm over suspected plans by some leaders of the party to hijack the process. Reports from the various local government areas within the state indicate that the Congress was outrightly hijacked by individuals working on the orders of the Minister of Transportation, Mr.Rotimi Amaechi. Some aggrieved party members who wouldn't want their names to be mentioned online accused the former Governor of the state of using the so-called party Congress to formally install his long list of loyalists in all the 23 local government areas in a desperate bid to ensure His annoited candidate gets the Governorship ticket of the party ahead of the 2019 General elections. Recall that few months ago, Mr.Amaechi had in what was termed a restructuring effort unilaterally sacked some Local Government Leaders of the party who he believed were working for the Governorship ambition of a popular Aspirant in the state under the All Progressives Congress against His will. The tension of that totalitarian act was yet to settle before today's incident. Many political observers who confided in Suanu's Blog are of the opinion that these strange and wolfy democratic actions of Mr.Amaechi may eventually spell doom for the party ahead of the 2019 General elections. Meanwhile some of those who were said to have been elected at the local Congresses of the party today included: For PortHarcourt LGA: Chief Nnamdi Wokekoro Hon Mrs Irene Inimgba Chief Collyns Owhonda For Ikwere LGA: Hon.chibike ikenga Hon.Onyeyinchi Ajoku Hon.Contro Asobi For Gokana LGA: Hon. Demue Ledee Demue Hon. Koteh Brown Hon. Mrs Giobari Naabiradee For Okrika LGA: David Alabere Chief Amangi Sunday Dr Mrs Claribel Abam For Etche LGA : Hon Nnamdi Okere Hon Golden Chioma Mrs Cicelia Mmeni For Obio/Akpor: Hon.Chikordi Dike Dr. Lawrence Chuku Madam Beatrice Wogunka For ASALGA: Hon Lolo T. Ibieneye (JP) Hon Ojukaye Flag Amachree Mrs Joeba West For ABUA/ODUAL: Hon Udi Odum Hon Ode ThankGod Mrs Oyani Wilfred Suanu's Blog further gathered that the results of the embattled Congresses were all written at a popular hotel in PortHarcourt called, Novotel. Thousands of angry APC Members had earlier today stormed the premises of the Hotel to prevent the actualisation of the evil scheme. The Hotel which is known for being a notorious venue for Rivers APC Chieftains was said to have had national officers of the party who came to conduct the LGA congresses. Supporters of Sen.Magnus Abe and other party faithfuls who had waited all day at their respective LGAs to elect their delegates in the congresses were among those who trooped to take over premises of the hotel where the fake results were allegedly being written against party rules and guidelines for the congress. Days ahead shall surely present interesting political developments from the Oil/Gas Capital of West Africa. Source: http://www.suanusblog.com/2017/07/rivers-apc-set-for-final-collapse-as.html?m=1
