If Ndidi is going to play advanced midfield then he has to crash into the box with Osimhen to contest aerial balls from our wings and we have to try and score in the first 15 mins to destroy any confidence of the Rwandans |

deltafly: We played four matches , drew 3 and lost 1. All these matches Osihmen did not play . Today he is playing I believe we are winning . The coach should start looking for clinical strikers . Against Lesotho and Zimbabwe we wasted so many chances . If Osihmen is injured who replaces him in the qualifiers? Boniface or Umar ? Hmm 🤔 The drop off from Osimhen to the next guy is so huge |

Samueltemi337: Raphael Onyedika Get Pivotal Role In New Super Eagles Midfield Ahead Of World Cup Qualifiers
Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika has been handed a key role for the Super Eagles when they take on Rwanda on Friday in the 2026 world cup qualifiers, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal. New coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle will be in charge of the team for the first time in Friday’s game, and has already mapped out how the team will play as they go in search of their first win after four games in the qualifiers.
Part of the idea of the new man is to have the team play a possession based football with high pressing from two midfielders higher up the pitch , while a lone defensive midfielder sits and dictate play from deep. That role is said to be for Onyedika.
Chelle watched him interpret the role to perfection playing in the UEFA Champions League for Club Brugge, and he has decided to hand him the same responsibility against Rwanda.
It looks like the duo of Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi will be the left sided and right sided midfielders respectively, playing very close to the wingers in Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman. They are expected to create an overload with top striker Osimhen in the box when the team attacks.
In defence, a back four of Ola Aina, Bruno Onyemaechi, William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey will sit just in front of Stanley Nwabali who is expected to keep his spot as first choice goalkeeper.

Tchinaidi: We do in the person of Onyeka but his on the ball qualities are just not impressive for a defensive midfielder.I think that is where Alhassan should come in Onyeka and Alhassan don't have the defensive discipline of prime Ndidi and Alhassan is just a carpenter in midfield, I don't rate him one bit |

MetalJigsaw: Strongest lineup against RWA:
(4-2-1-3)
Nwabali
Aina_ Ekong_ Bassey_ Bruno
Ndidi_ Onyedika
Iwobi
Simon_ Osimhen_ Lookman
Though, Simon plays best on the left wing but Lookman a more dangerous player occupies the spot.
Chkwueze should have been best for the right for his impressive left foot but too unreliable and inconsistent. So Simon- a far better option. Ndidi is no longer the player that he used to be, sadly we have no alternative at the moment |

victornoah: Chelle can win all the remaining matches only if he does one thing:
Leave Boniface out of the squad!
Boniface is so lackluster when it comes to the National assignment. Always feeling himself and after self-glory.
If all our players can borrow a leaf from Osimhen's determination, we can beat any team.
Watch Osimhen, Simon, Ekong, and even Bassey; these guys are just too committed when playing for the National team. Same can't be said for most of our players.
I trust Chelle will get us the World Cup Ticket. I like Bassey but he has not really impressed in the national team |

TheSuperNerd: Extract from Osimhen's OBI ONE Podcast interview about Eric Chelle and the Super Eagles
Osimhen revealed his conversation with the Super Eagles coach on the Obi One Podcast.
“We spoke, he called me along with his assistant,” Osimhen began.
“Form the last AFCON with Mali, he’s a coach who loves to play, he really loves to fight.
“This is a snippet to my teammates in the national team, according to what he told me, he’s going to be very, very demanding
“He said ‘I want to guys to come hand-in-hand with me to achieve amazing things for Nigeria.
“’You guys have the quality to achieve this, but the one who doesn’t fight for every ball, the one who doesn’t run for every ball, will not play’.
“He was really clear with me.”
Osimhen continued: “He said he can be a father, an uncle, a big brother to everyone, but on the pitch this is business.
“’I might scream at you guys, don’t take it badly.
“’You Victor, Ekong and the rest come hand-in-hand with me, if the players see you guys running so crazy, they will do it also. It starts from you guys.
“I totally agree with him.”
Culled from ScoreNigeria reports. The last Nigerian coach that did this sort of thing was Rohr, I'm 100% behind Chelle |

And as Kog45 will bear witness, there are many attackers who score loads of goals for their clubs but were perennial flops in GWG.
It even irks me whenever he scores and the info is posted here. He creates confusion. He should just go. Sadiq, Onuachu even if they score 100 goals I'm not inviting them personally |

BankyGee: My rating: Goalkeepers: 8/10 Defence: 8/10 Midfield: 6.5/10 Attack: 9/10
Full list: 7.8/10... Let's see how it translates on the pitch. One injury to one of our defenders and we are in serious trouble, Chukwueze should have been replaced with a defender |
