Mujtahida: Iwobi should always be deployed as the base of our attack where he can feed the defenders. He should be relieved of defensive duties. This does not mean he won't defend. All players are to defend but middle defense should not be Iwobi's primary responsibility. You gerrit |

Philosopher1979: Our coach needs to work on our ability to pkay with 2 central defenders. Playing with 3 Centre backs limits our options in midfield and attack. Are our defenders so poor that they can't okay with 2 centre backs. I don't understand.
Maybe igbo ogbu should be tried in defence. As per calvin bassey if he does not play well in a 2 man centre back, then he is limited . The issue is a lot of people here will say bassey is better than ogbu because he is in a better league but formation and tactics trump league. Players like omeruo, igbo ohbu may be better than bassey in a 2 man centre back but anyone who reasons like this will be deemed foolish. You answered your question, our defenders have glaring limitations that could be exposed in a 2 man defence, the last defender that we had that could comfortably hold his own in a 2-man defence was Joseph Yobo |

DABIGATRAN: It remains to be seen what tactical formation Eric Chelle will deploy. Many are predicting 4-4-2 which I think will favour a player like Victor Boniface who thrives better in a partnership.
Fingers crossed on Lookman and Iwobi who usually are among the first names on the team sheet. Lookman is more an inside forward than a winger. Iwobi on the other hand is a left/right AM.
But it pays to have a lot of options in terms of personnel and tactics. At the end of the day, it is not about the players and not about the formation as Finidi rightly said. It is about teamwork, team spirit, determination and the right culture. I still think 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2 is our best formation given that it gives protection to our CCB Ekong, it actually fits Bassey who is best at LCB, Ola Aina and Bruno do best as flying wing backs, Iwobi is relieved of defensive responsibilities and can create at the top of the midfield three, and Lookman can dribble into the penalty box while Osimhen holds up the ball up front |

31 appearance 12 goals and 4 assists 😕 Imagine returning such numbers in the Scottish league, I'm sure Brown Ideye would do better |

I'm sure the conversation around Chelle would be different if he had a lighter shade of skin, I watched this man's Mali's side and they played one of the most beautiful football in Afcon incredibly unlucky to go out, the other white coaches we have been appointing have not had a push back such as this despite having next to nothing on their cv |

The general way is to publicly congratulate the person except you're scorned or feel it wasn't deserved. You know this but as a nyash licker you won't admit. You have a point sha, a congratulations text would have avoided all these drama and Osimhen knows it |

COOL10: I said "goal contributions," and not just goals. Weren't you the same person who mentioned me and said that strikers aren't judged by their goals alone? Why switch to double standards when it comes to Dessers?
Going by the metric of goal contributions i.e goals and assists per game, here are the statistics of the players you mentioned:
1) Boniface: 9 goal contributions in 15 matches gives an average of 0.6
2) Tolu: 16 goal contributions in 19 matches gives an average of 0.8
3) Maja: 12 goal contributions in 19 matches gives an average of 0.6
4) Cyriel Dessers: 17 goal contributions in 24 matches gives an average of 0.7
You're trying to pass off the false impression that Dessers isn't playing as well as all the players you mentioned despite the fact that he's playing in a so-called farmer's league but as you can see, in terms of goal contributions, Cyriel Dessers is actually outperforming all the players you mentioned apart from Tolu whose form this season came as a surprise to everyone because last season Tolu had just 18 goal contributions while Dessers had an incredibly impressive 31 goal contributions.
So my brother, you tell me, what are we talking about here? 🤷🏽♂️😀 I focused on goals because that is what we are lacking in the SE and besides 4 assists in 23 matches in the Scottish league is not remarkable to be making fuss about,I also talked about league quality and starting berth, seems you missed that one, in the end Dessers is our 5th best striker all things considered, it's cute that you are fighting for him but those who watch him regularly know he is not that good NB he has 16 goal contributions according to transfer market not 17 |

charlesemeka85: if we can hype players from the English 3rd tier what’s wrong according same mention to those doing well the Scottish top tier which is more competitive? Who dey hype Nwakali, besides we are talking about the SE backup striker not some midfield depth |

COOL10: Kindly mention any other possible backup to Osimhen who has given more than the 17 goal contributions in 18 starts and 5 substitute appearances that Dessers has delivered this season. I'll wait 🙂 Dessers (24 games, 12 goals) 0.5 goals per game - Scotland Boniface (10 games, 6 goals) 0.6 per game - Germany Tolu (17games, 10goals) 0.6 goals per game - Belgium Maja (19 games, 10 goals) 0.52 goals per game-Championship Overall all these players have better numbers than Dessers, playing in harder leagues, more clinical and are actually starting strikers for their teams so what are we saying here |

TheSuperNerd: Well answered. To be honest, Boniface's Zero goals in 11 caps is impossible to defend anymore. At this point, any whisper of Dessers from this angle is valid.
But then stretching this to Osimhen is another matter. Wait is Dessers no longer playing in the Scottish league, Rangers fans see him as the second coming of the devil, what would he offer to the SE when we are battling crucial qualifiers when he is not of the level required? So if you are coach in a world cup qualifier you play Dessers ahead of Boniface because he scores 2 after every intermediate drought, put Dessers in a Bayern Leverkusen team and put Boniface in a Rangers team and reevaluate lol |

COOL10: My point is simple. When a player underperforms, despite your love for that player, be mature enough to put your sentiments aside and criticize that player for performing poorly.
The thing is that, as Nigerians, we don't like telling ourselves the truth. Osimhen had a terrible AFCON outing. An African Player of the Year scoring just one goal in the entire tournament and missing the most chances (13) is a woeful performance.
Most Nigerians will argue with you and tell you to forget about that because he knows how to mark and put pressure on defenders, forgetting that the number one goal of a striker is to put the ball in the back of the net. Osimhen didn't win the African Player of the Year award by putting pressure on defenders, he won it because of the goals he scored and trophy he won with Napoli.
Imagine what would have happened if the likes of Lookman and Ekong didn't step up at the AFCON. We won't even have gotten out of the group stage. This is the lie of the century, anybody who watched Afcon knows that Osimhen dragged us to the finals, strikers are not only judged by goals but by there performances also |
