InvestmentRe: My Father's Dividend After 11years Of Investing In Transcorp Shares by successnwa(f): 9:37am On Oct 16, 2024
1x2x3:
Let's assume in 2009, someone purchased 2,000,000 shares at the rate of N2. This will be a total of N4M invested.

In 2024 which is 15 years later, the shares is currently at N11.
2,000,000 share = N22M + those petty dividends they paid.

Looks like a good investment.

Let's look at what who held dollar would have made just by putting N4M into dollars in 2009 when dollar was $150.

4,000,00 ÷ 150 = $26,666

In 2024, $1 = 1650

$26,666 x 1650 = N43, 998,900 (that's roughly twice the amount from shares in that company)

What about who gambled on BTC?

In 2009 bitcoin was $0.10 cheesy

Just $1,000 would have given you 10,000BTC

In 2024, 10,000BTC = $672,344,400. grin grin grin

Only if we can see the future

Which investment would you recommend for one presently? Thanks.

PoliticsAre You An Idiot, A Tribesman, Or A Citizen? by successnwa(op): 8:20am On Jun 22, 2024
FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Unless you understand your role in society, you can never make any meaningful contribution.

According to the Greeks, there are three types of people on Earth,
- the idiots,
- the tribesmen, and
- the citizens.

Studies show only 10% of Africans are citizens.
The remaining 90% are either tribesmen or idiots.

1. When the Greeks used the word *idiot*, they did not use it as a curse word.
Idiots are people who just don’t care.
If they write exams, they will cheat.
If they are in government they will steal.
An idiot does not care at all, if he eats bananas he throws the peels anywhere instead of putting them in a trash bin.

IDIOTS won't attend monthly neighborhood meetings. They won't pay security dues. They won't contribute to community development. Even when they see or know about something that will harm others in the community they won't report it. When they see/know/have something that will benefit their community they won't share. Idiots don't care to register for or vote in an election yet they complain the most. If they register to vote, IDIOTS will sell their votes for peanuts.

According to the Greeks, some societies have more idiots than tribesmen and citizens.

2. The next set of people are *tribesmen*, these are people that look at everything from the point of view of their tribe.

_These are people who believe in you only if you are part of their tribe.
It can be terrible to have a tribesman as a leader, he will alienate the rest.

When the Greeks talk about tribes, it’s not just about ethnicity, they also consider religion, gang membership, group membership, party membership, and even cult membership as a tribe.
A great percentage of Africans are tribesmen because they view everything from the point of view of their tribes.
They trust only their tribesmen.

3. The last group is *citizens*.
These are people who like to do things the right way.
They will respect traffic light rules even if no one is watching them.
They drive within speed limits.
They respect the laws, and won’t cheat in exams.
In government, they won’t steal.
They are compassionate and give to others to promote their well-being.

Citizens often promote projects that benefit everyone.
The Greeks called this group "the citizens".

Some countries have more citizens than tribesmen and idiots.
Others have so many idiots.

A tribesman can become a citizen through orientation.
And an idiot can become a citizen by training and constant enforcement of the law.

But things fall apart if you elect an idiot or tribesman to lead you if he has not been reformed.
Where do you belong?
Are you an idiot, a tribesman, or a citizen?

Reflect on your life.

REFLECT ON YOUR IMMEDIATE COMMUNITY, CITY, STATE OR NATION.

Kindly, reflect on the message this morning and be a “CITIZEN”. God bless you as you choose to be a better “CITIZEN” for Nigeria to be a better place for all.

Health10 Powerful Steps To Reduce Aging Effectively by successnwa(op): 8:19pm On Aug 23, 2023
Certainly, here are 10 powerful steps you can take to help reduce the signs of aging:

1. Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily to protect your skin from UV rays, which can lead to premature aging.

2. Healthy Diet: Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats to provide essential nutrients for your skin's health.

3. Hydration: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and maintain its elasticity.

4. Skincare Routine: Develop a consistent skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing to keep your skin clean and well-nourished.

5. Antioxidants: Use skincare products containing antioxidants like vitamin C and E to combat free radicals that contribute to aging.

6. Retinoids: Consider using products with retinoids (like retinol) to stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

7. Hyaluronic Acid: Use products with hyaluronic acid to maintain skin hydration and plumpness.

8. Exercise: Engage in regular physical activity to improve blood circulation and promote healthy skin.

9. Stress Management: Practice stress-reduction techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing to prevent stress-related aging.

10. Adequate Sleep: Get 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night to allow your skin to repair and regenerate.

Remember, everyone's skin is unique, so it's important to tailor these steps to your individual needs and consult a dermatologist if you're considering major changes to your skincare routine.
PoliticsNigerian Army Launches New Operation To End Killings In Plateau by successnwa(op): 7:07pm On Jul 22, 2023
The Nigerian Army has launched a new military operation in Plateau state, code-named Operation Hakorin Damisa IV.

Hakorin Damisa means leopard’s teeth in English.

According to The PUNCH, launching the operation in the Mangu Local Government Area, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja on Saturday said the aim was specifically to end the spate of attacks and killings in the LGA and other parts of the state.

In July alone, over 200 people have been killed in sustained violent attacks in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

After addressing troops deployed to carry out Operation Hakorin Damisa, the Chief of Army Staff moved to a Pilot Primary school in the community to have a meeting with some stakeholders.

Earlier in July, the House of Representatives asked the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to declare a national emergency situation in Plateau over incessant attacks by terrorists.

This followed a motion of urgent public importance on the need for urgent intervention in the killings in some local government areas in the state.

The House further requested that Operation Safe Haven should identify and evacuate all cells used by bandits in the state.

The House mandated the Committees on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, Defence, Army, Air Force, Police, and Legislative Compliance ( when created) to oversee compliance and report monthly until the situation was brought under control.

They stated that the recent attacks on the communities had resulted in the killing of over 300 individuals, significant injuries to others, the destruction of property, and the displacement of nearly 18,000 people.

The lawmakers also raised concern about the ongoing attacks by terrorist groups in the state, claiming that if not addressed soon, it would result in low agricultural produce.

The House further requested that security personnel should give aerial observation and assistance in capturing the terrorists and destroying their camps in order to prevent attacks and allow innocent farmers to return to their lands and ancestral homes.
PoliticsShehu Sani Says That Governor's Might Divert The Palliative by successnwa(op): 6:53pm On Jul 22, 2023
Former Kaduna lawmaker and socio-political commentator, Shehu Sani has backed Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state on the distribution of palliative, saying the governors may divert the President Bola Tinubu’s proposed palliatives.

Sani stated this in a statement via his verified Twitter handle on Saturday.

According to the former senator, some state governors might use the funds for palliative to pay contractors, pay backlog of salaries, settle domestic debt, among others.

He urged the President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure proper checks on the palliative funds.

Sani stated, “Without proper check, some states will use palliative funds to pay contractors they are owing or pay the inherited backlog of salaries and pensions or use it to settle their domestic debts with Banks or use it settle political supporters; Soludo is right, all states are not equal.”against

Recall that Soludo had, on Thurday, urged governors to prune down on their use of funds amid the hardship Nigerians are facing following the fuel subsidy removal.

Soludo cautioned governors being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

He said it would be insensitive for governors to have long convoys while their subjects are reeling in hardship.
PoliticsNANS Threatens Protest, Condemns Tuition Hike In Tertiary Institution by successnwa(op): 6:43pm On Jul 22, 2023
NANS condemns tuition hike in tertiary institutions, threatens protest

National Association of Nigerian Students has condemned the planned increment of school fees by tertiary institutions in the country.

In a statement signed by the National PRO, Giwa Temitope and released on Saturday, NANS declared that the government’s action is “insensitive” and “embarrassing”.

The association also stressed that the government has what it takes to fund education and make it accessible, noting that the introduction of the student loan scheme is a sham and a bait to make Nigerians accept fee increments.

The association stated that there is no justification for an increase in school fees across tertiary institutions and Unity schools.

It demanded that the increase in school fees should be suspended, adding that those who have implemented the policy should reverse it immediately.

“We must state categorically that there is no justification for increment in school fees across our tertiary institutions and even Unity schools. Our demand is clear and simple; the attempt to increase school fees must be suspended. And, those that have floated it must reverse it with immediate effect.”

NANS also called on Nigerian students to prepare for an all- round protest until the Federal Government reverses the policy, similar to the one during the prolonged ASUU strike.“We call on Nigerian students to brace up and be prepared for an all- round protest as was done during the prolonged ASUU strike until the Federal Government reverses this policy.

“The increment of school fees at UNILAG and the planned increment across tertiary institutions in the country has shown this administration to be a very insensitive one.

“As a matter of fact, it is most ridiculous and embarrassing that the government will be introducing fees increment without thinking of rescuing over 133 million Nigerian people from multidimensional poverty.

“Increment in fees across tertiary institutions will only complicate the poverty situation of the country and also increase the number of out-of- school children.

“As an association, we believe that the Nigerian government has what it takes to massively fund education and make it accessible. In fact, the student loan that was introduced by the Federal Government is nothing but a sham and bait to lure the Nigerian people into accepting increments in fees payable.

“Beyond the fact that the terms of the loan are ridiculous, history has taught us that not every applicant will be considered. And, even if all of them were to be considered, it still does not justify an increment in an economy that tops the unemployment index. Rather than give loans, the government must provide grants and scholarships for  students.”

Bananas and my health

I actually have heard a lot of appropriate things about Bananas. Kindly educate me on why it is ideal for the health.

Bananas are a nutritious fruit that can offer some of health advantages when eaten frequently. Bananas are an excellent source of several important nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium, and dietary fiber. These nutrients are essential for maintaining good health and can help prevent many chronic diseases. In addition, Bananas are a great source of natural energy.
They contain three types of natural sugars – fructose, glucose, and sucrose – which can provide a quick energy boost when needed. It has also been confirmed that the potassium in bananas can help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Studies have also shown that eating bananas regularly can help reduce levels of harmful LDL cholesterol in the blood. Also, the fiber content in bananas can aid digestion and promote regular bowel movements, which can help prevent constipation. Bananas also contain natural enzymes that assist in breaking down nutrients, making them easier to digest.

fratermathy:
Goodluck to all TRV applicants in this new thread. I started with the previous thread from Nigeria and now I'm in Canada. May it be the same for you.

Remember that approval is not by how many things you submit or how excellent your application documents are. It's mostly a game of luck, who the VO is, "divine grace", and doing the right things. Always keep things simple if you can. Don't appear too desperate by overdoing things and don't be too laid back by not submitting the essential documents.

Before you ask questions, do a simple search on Google and add Nairaland to the end of the search query so that you can see if the question has been answered before. If you need further clarification after that, you can then ask. Remember that nobody is mandated to answer any question here. We are all partners in progress, so don't feel angry if your question goes unanswered. Just ask again and do so politely. Before I became active here, I had read almost all the pages from parts 13-16. I also advise others to do same and by the time you're done, you would know so much about the entire process and could even be an agent if you want.
Good morning sir and congratulations!
I am a teacher with hnd result, by the special grace of God I would love to migrate to Canada with my two girls ( minors). How do I start and what job will be eligible in line with my work experience and requirements.
Thank you and all nairaland members contributing positively at this thread!

And that sadness will not depart from your household. Say amen! People look at me and my son play and relate and get jealous. Very sharp, happy young man with an ecstatic father.

The problem with you plebs is you cannot fathom having well-behaved children without first killing them with cane and koboko while garnishing it with curses. I have a superior way of raising children. If you like believe, if you like don't believe. Na you sabi. I done talk my own.

There is a reason why "good children belong to their fathers, while bad ones are their mom's". You women generally don't know how to raise children. You approach the task emotionally while children need to be dealt with with spine.

Instead of you to marry a man that knows what he's doing, you went and married a fucck boy that knows nothing aboutvhiw to raise good children. You better carry your incompetent self away from my mentions.
wow I love your parenting method, because too much beating and lashing the kids only makes them more stubborn.
I could remembered what my first daughter told me she said mummy stop beating us and talk to us we are not animals. I was shocked and ashamed of myself, I told her you guys made me to repeat one particular instruction severally. it is irritating and gives me headache.
she replied me that, I should buy whistle and blow it loudly they will all stop and listen. Funny but it has been working for us, so bashing, beating, flogging etc sometimes don't work but dialogue.
