I advice you go to SSA and get your Social Security Number. You'll need your international passport, i94, birth certificate and passport photo (not sure) for this. You can also open a joint account with your fiancee. Some banks allow creation of account without SSN. Also you can go to the Courts/Registry to make enquiries about requirements for Court Wedsing and then get married . All these can be done independently of each other.

For drivers license, however, you'll need your SSN. I recommend that you start looking up the requirements for your State. For each State has slightly different requirements for obtaining drivers licnse.

Nothing major really,I was on this line with just 6 or 7 of us in it and the officer in that line was really drilling people as to why they’re in the us,it was about to get to my turn when I got called into another line.i lowkey thanked God in my head and after I did my finger print,I was asked to follow an officer into a room I guess is for immigrants and after waiting for a couple of minutes,I got called to come up and I was told that I hope I know I must get married within 90 and I said yes and was given my passport.took some food stuff so i had to go through agric too and they trashsed my egusi cos it wasn’t grinded.was given my passport and babe was waiting outside.those people no too friendly abeg,was greeting them and they didn’t even answer me I just mind my business Wetin concern me.im in Delaware so it isn’t freezing cold yet but it will by January.

(1)how can one arrange his pictures? Can one use picture Album? Is photo album allowed at the embassy?

I used a file folder that my fiancé sent to me,just print out the pictures and the other documents that you need and arrange them in order in the folder,it’s no biggie.

(2) What can one use to hold his evidences together ( chat logs, phone call logs, emails )? Paper clips? Or Acco clips? Cuz I heard that binding or stempling of documents is not allowed

I’m not sure but you surely must not tamper with the i-134 and the tax return,like I said,get a file folder and arrange your documents in there.

(3) After getting affidavit of bachelorhood from high court, should one proceed to marriage registry office to obtain the "Certificate of single status"?

Yes,I did mine in Lagos at the high court and the ikoyi registry for 30k.but guess what? I wasn’t asked for it at the interview.

(4) Is it true that 'certificate of single status" must be authenticate at the ministry of foreign affairs?

The registry is under the ministry of interior.

Question for those those that got approval and the ones in the us.is it normal for my case to say ‘application received’ when I track it on the ceac website 4 days after interview.someone please gimme some clarity

Some COs will see the intro pictures and think there was some form of traditional marriage that was done while others might not. That's why I advocate it being safe not to go with intro pictures especially if it appears as if its a traditional marriage.

However if the intro pictures was submittted during the USCIS petition stage then you have to still go with it to the Embassy. Or if the intro pictures is the only picture that can actually prove your relationship then go with it. But be ready to explain the picture and, if possible, go with more evidence to prove that no trad was done. The COs are not monsters, they are smart, they will understand.

No lies legitbachelor,like I said different cases different CO’s but it’s better to be safe than sorry.what if you don’t take the pictures and they ask and you have nothing to show for it.my fiancée filed with the petition,a lot of receipts from vendors that we got for our engagement and our plans for the engagement so there was no way I wasn’t going to take pictures and even if she didn’t,you said it sometime ago that these people know your every move and moreover,they won’t see what you have in your folder even if you take them with you so even if they end up not asking then it’s all good but if they ask then someone better be ready to provide those things.just be able to prove that y’all just had an engagement party and nothing else.

You’re welcome.i wore the same outfit(native) with my wife-to-be and he even looked at one picture from our engagement party too and he didn’t ask me anything about it.cases and consular officers are different so you never can tell but I’ll advice you take pictures from your introduction with you.all you gotta do is convince them that y’all ain’t married

Dear poster,go with intro pictures oo,it’s very important in the sense that it helps your case for them believe that y’all have a bonafide relationship,I went with mine and the co saw them and he didn’t even bug me about them so I advice you go with them

see hen,as far as I’m concerned,these things do not go how we’re told or what weve read,you’re not only been asked questions,you’re having a conversation with the C.O.even tho he asked these things,there were still some things he asked that I don’t remember and all the things that I did wahala to get,they were not asked for,he only asked for pictures and he didn’t even look At everything,just flipped through 4-5 of them and gave me 2 white papers.the interview didn’t Even take up to 4minutes

She sent scanned copies,and what do you mean by what she fills on the forms,is there a special way of filling the form.

Is it okay to take copies of the affidavit of support with me to the interview or only originals are accepted.the embassy sent packet 4 to us instead of 3 and it says there that scanned or photocopies are also acceptable and my fiancée is dwelling on that even tho I’m paranoid.am I good with copies as well?

Go with at least 2 passport photos, international passport, appointment confirmation printout, DS-160 printout, GTBank Payment Receipt, Birth Certificate, Police Clearance Certificate, Medical Report (sealed), filled Affidavit of Support form along with its supporting documents (fiance's birth certificate, international passport, tax returns, bank statement, employment letter, etc), copy of documents your fiance submitted to USCIS when she petitioned for you (i129F along with supporting documents), proof of relationship (WhatsApp Chats, Call Logs, Pictures of you both together, copy of Flight Boarding Pass used to visit fiance, money transfers, etc) and other documents that supports what you filled in the DS-160 thats not listed here.

@legitbachelor,somethings you mentioned on here,the petitioner is required to send them when filling so why is there a need to go to the interview with them again?

That's crazy. Maybe they were overwhelmed on that day. Generally it's preferable to go there very early. I went there by 7am or thereabout and dropped my name with security. Perhaps those who came later in the day will be sent back or asked if they have an appointment.

Maybe so,and there’s one other thing,do they usually send the result to the embassy or the applicant comes to pick it up cos they told us to come pick up our X-ray result that they’ll send the rest to the embassy,is that the normal practice?

Really? Are you sure? No appointment was needed during my time. You just need to go there early in the morning, drop your name with the security men and your name will be called on a first come first served basis.

So unless this is a recent development, then I doubt it.

Hope you are not confusing the US Visa Applicant with the Canadian Visa Applicants there? Those applying for Canadian Visa need to schedule appointment with Qlife but US Visa applicant don't....unless the rule changed this Month. The Clinic in Abuja however needs appointment for US Visa applicant.

I thought the same too,maybe they just decided to be crazy on that day,so in my case,I just went there the day before my medicals to see things for myself and cos I’m not familiar with Lagos,I wanted to know the place so I’m not looking for it the next day and when I got there in the evening,I asked the lady at the counter and she said and I quote ‘you have to book an appointment for your screening’ and I was like that’s not what I read online and she told me that the next available appointment is 10am tomorrow so I got there around after 9 and they asked me if I have an appointment and I asked them if it was necessary,they said yes, ‘we can’t screen you if you don’t have an appointment’ I just told them my name, they checked a paper and Asked me to take a sit.

You don't need any appointment. Just go there with the NVC Letter, your international passport, your passport photo (make sure it's the size they want: 4 x 3), your ATM card (for payment) and records of any past immunization you've done in the past.

Actually,you need to book an appointment contrary to popular opinion,I had to go there a day to my medicals in my case but you can always call them but they’ll most likely send you back if you don’t have an appointment cos they brought out a paper of the people that were booked for that day on the day I went for my medicals

@Glorioussugar, there are two bar code numbers on the Interview Confirmation Printout. One will be that of the DS160 the other will be that of the Interview Confirmation. So as long as you can see a bar code number on the printout that matches with the DS160 number, you are fine.

I think you really need somebody who knows the process to be physically with you so as to guide you properly.

@glorioussugar,check page 82 or 83 of this thread or so,I explained this there.there will be two codes on your appointment printout page,the first one is the appointment code and the other one is your ds-160 barcode

Don't worry. You don't even need the Bachelor Certificate unless you did engagement ceremony and are worried about the CO thinking you are married. And even a Sworn Affidavit at a High Court can even suffice.

We did engagement ooo,remember I said these things a couple of weeks ago,that’s why I was asking you if it’s okay to get it from my local government or from ikoyi but I was able to get the affidavit and the certificate,I’m just a wee bit paranoid about the authenticity of it all

@legitbachelor,do you have an idea if there’s any way I can verify the authenticity of a bachelors certificate,I went to the ikoyi registry and it was ready within two days but the way those people were behaving and tossing me around,I was suspecting a foul play.make them no go give me fake certificate,I go just pass out.

You don't know the detail of his case. Perhaps his was not K1. Or Perhaps USCIS/NVC/US Embassy made a mistake on his case thus are teying to help resolve the consequence of the mistake they created. Perhaps. But I don't know.

What I know is that for K1 Visa, you are the one to schedule the interview date, not the Embassy. And as long as you scheduled your date before the Peririon expires, you are fine.
