At the moment,it seems rather oppressive. Take an indian on Highly Skilled Visa who earns 24grand with NetworkRail;with this policy he needs to earn close to 40grand to renew is HSW visa,otherwise he's gonna be kicked out.Where on earth is he goona get that from?That sounds draconian to me thou.

Well,a lot has been written and this is only an addendum.
The coalition government has failed to recognise the positives immigrants bring into the economy.Ranging from all the aforementioned by earlier posters.
I am not against curtailing it but devising draconian policies aignt just right.

Lest we forget ,the Brits aignt that hard-working ,they will rather depend on benefits and grants. The latter is equally under scrutiny.
Even with the recession,there is still dearth of teaching and medical personnel,the cap will only make it worse.
The Brits are feeling the heat already with the multipier effect of the emergency budget and the increase in VAT,they are in for horrid times.
I dont even see the coalition govt standing the test of time.Once Labour elects a new a leader,hopefully David Miliband,then the fireworks in the house begins.

If a skilled worker gets caught up in there web,IMO it should only take u to greater heights.
A friend was denied HSW for some feeble reasons,the geezer went home. As I speak,my guy is into haulage biz,he'gt 4 trucks under his belt serving 2 noteable FMCGs in gidi,saw him last xmas my dude was thankful his visa got denied.

My holistic take on the matter;at the end of day ,if one door is not shut another might not open.
