Born in 1942, named Ebenezer Remilekun Aremu Olasupo Obey-Fabiyi

He began his professional career in the 50's after tutelage under "Fatai Rolling Dollar" another popular lagos musician.

He formed the band "International Brothers" in 1964 which later evolved into "Inter-reformers" in the 70s

Obey began experimenting with Yoruba percussion style and expanding on the band by adding more drum kits and talking drums. Obey's musical strengths lie in weaving intricate Yoruba axioms into dance floor compositions. As is characteristic of Nigerian Yoruba social circle music, the Inter-Reformers band excel in praise singing for rich Nigerian socialites and business tycoons. Obey, however, is also renowned for christian spiritual themes in his music and has since the early 1990s retired into Nigerian gospel music ministry.

On this track he says " Aiye wa atooro" meaning "our lives shall experience progressive success; as confession after offering prayers to the God of heaven. One thing you would enjoy from such music asides the lyrics (if you understand them) is the harmonization of the strings and the drums. Some of his titles are even popular sang in churches today

This is a promo video, and advert for Lagos. All the places shown are in Lagos not London or New York or your village. Lagos is progressing, 50+ years of infrastructure decay on the one hand, and organic population growth on the other hand cannot be overcome in one day or even a few years, but Lagos is trying to overcome this, meething these challenges head on.

Lagos is a city that one-tenth of Nigeria's population calls home, it is indeed one of the safest places in the country (as unsafe as it may be), and it is a place that with the right amount of funds anybody would love love love to call home.

Yes, Lagos has slums, traffic and a shît load of other problems, Fashola and Tinubu did not cause these problems, Fashola is actively trying to fix them the way no other governor before him has. It would be stupid, in trying to increase revenue by wooing tourists and investors, to show them the slums of Lagos. Are they being invited to experience the slums or the splendour of Lagos?

Anyone who's been following his case will know that there is no way he could have got justice in a Lagos state court because his trial is heavily politicized with added dose of bigoted Yoruba bias. This sham trial and show of shame has been on now for nearly 15 years. The higher courts should right the wrong that has been done to this gentleman who's been punished for the perceived wrongs of Abacha.
