panafrican:
It is a Foreign Affairs forum. Do you want us to debate the herdsmen vs farmers issue in Nigeria or how Igbo , Yoruba and Hausa are seeing each other ? Open your mind to the world .

UK having their royals is easily understandable due to the historical and important role their queens and kings played during many decisive moments in the history of that country.
What is odd is the world's number 1 Democracy
refusing to allow its citizens to directly elect the president.
Oh you miss the point. Your topic is rather asking what the founding fathers were afraid of?

You could have also asked what the Saudis are afraid of or what Communist China is also afraid of.

Also remember, why’s Nigeria scared of electoral college

India has more than a billion inhabitants , there people directly elect their leaders , same thing in
many other country. That is why it is fair to wonder why the US that claims to be the world's number 1 Democracy is not allowing its citizens to directly elect their president.
What were the Founding Fathers of that country afraid of ?
You need to ask the founding fathers not asking Nairalanders...

How a country decide to run it affairs is nobody’s business but the people of the country to decide.

Ask UK why they still have monarch ?

panafrican:
With this type of reasoning , Africa will continue
whining about foreign interference.
One can bet some Ecowas countries will volunteer to provide French troops with military support to attack another Ecowas country if the latter asked French troops to leave.
You forgot that not all of these countries want to do this withdrawal, not all of them is bold enough to confront France about their demands and some are still enjoying France support and remained dictators for life.

ECOWAS already made it’s law as part of the conditions for member countries who wish to join the west African currency... it is left to the individual states to decide if they want to remain in CFA or just the regional currency.

Note; taking away France cash cow will come with big consequences which most of these countries will be afraid of.

The likes of Italy, Swiss, Greece, Spain that are taking in immigrants from the seas have been condemning Frances economic colonization of those countries.

panafrican:
All this was made possible in part by the French permanent military presence in former French colonies.
France has military bases in Senegal,Cote d' Ivoire,
Chad, Central African Republic etc.

If Ecowas wants to be relevant, it should ask for the
French Army withdrawal from all those bases.
ECOWAS did not sign the independence terms for them. These countries will have to ask France to leave.

Please don’t compare. There’s no basis to compare here. While Nigerian government is still not able to provide basic human needs like power, portable water supply, quality education etc to its citizen.. other counties of the world have moved on to better problems. Don’t compare please, it’s so embarrassing.

Compare us with Ghana or Togo next time please, we don’t over fuc up. Even Cuba, Iran, North Korea that has been on US sanction for decades still enjoy basic things like electricity.

Abeg naija case is unique to naija, no basis of comparing abeg! No fall my hand

I get your point. I gave up on Trump long time ago. He's deceiving himself and his load of followers on twitter. Truth is he even sent tankers to Northern Syrian oil fields after they encircled U.S base in Manbijj. So his announcement is just face saving. Still more bases in Syria, the Syrian army sooner or later will encircle and he will need to announce again by then.
Right there is the real motive about all these senseless war around the world : MONEY!

It’s all about money, it had always been about the money. You betrayed your allies, only to go protect some oil reserves with tank ? Thereby denying the Syrian government the access to its natural resources on its own soil, that’s after leaving your Kurdish ally to die even though they are the reason why you are in the country in the first place.

The US Military has been deployed globally since after WWll. That is why there hasn't been a WWlll.
I didn’t ask to be lectured on when they’ve been deploying military around the world and you saying that’s why there hasn’t been a WWlll is absurd lol. There’s no correlation between deploying military and that stoping world war 3.

And I don’t know how that got into this discussion lol

Saudi cannot even take on the Yemenis. Sending military there is just saving face after the mass drone attack managed to penetrate all the billions of dollars worth (wrought) of junks bought by Saudi from the U.S.A

Is it not clear ?
You are the one who’s not clear with my point. It’s a known fact that US need some damage control to cover for the failure of the Patriot to stop those cruise missiles and drones.

But Trump said; we are bringing our boys home from the Middle East, only to be redeployed to another middle eastern country (SA) cos they paid for the service.

He should have just shut up and carry one with his plans not justifying why he’s withdrawing the boys from Syria.

Is it clearer now ?

Of course it is OK for USA to be in SA. There by invitation and written agreements, like many many other countries.
You still miss the point sir. Trump said “we are bringing our troops back home, no more endless wars in the Middle East” then only to return 2000+ soldiers to Saudi because they paid huh

When did the US military became a mercenary organization that’s being paid to fight wars for other countries ? Saudi is not even in the NATO alliance ooo

Since Kurds did not paid we have every right to be out of there... there by escalating the ISIS level again, and even telling the press that they can only escape to Europe... please tell me what would stop them from coming to the US??

This is the same Saudi that butchered a US Based journalist in cold blooded! The same Saudi whose citizen dominated 70% of the 9/11 terrorist!!

Remember, Saudis have the 3rd largest military spendings in the world. They are well equipped and trained, why won’t they put the lives of their soldiers in the line to protect their own territory.

See you cannot decide to pull soldiers out of Middle East because in your election campaign you promised to bring the soldiers home, only to send them to another country in the same Middle East... really huh

How much more can I spell this out for you sir ?

Okay, if you want to talk about the oil price rising ? It’s a win for the US if Saudi and Iran decided to go to war and Oil price rise... the US is currently the world largest producer of oil and the cost of producing the same oil is even expensive that the producers can compete favorably with the international market price. If the go to war and the oil price increases, it’s a win win for US oil producers!

John Kerry does not work for the US Government anymore. US forces were mainly advisory, working with Kurds to kill ISIS.
US military has not engaged in the Syrian war. Maybe Obama/Hillary thought Assad "has to go" but they didn't do much about it.
Seems Trump could care less who is in charge of Syria, same for 99.99% of Americans.
Well 99.99% of Americans ... I don’t know where you get that statistics from but majority still don’t understand why Americans are sent to Saudi too

USA has no business fighting in the Syrian war or with Turkey (a NATO member). Turkey's move into Syria is on them.
The troops the USA had in Syria was largely advisory and there only to kill ISIS. Also the USA has no legal permission to be
in Syria.
The same way we’ve got not business in Saudi Arabia too
