I watched a skit a few minutes ago and I remembered an incident that happened last year. I have her permission to share without revealing names or locations. Also some details have been changed.

A mother asked to use her fifteen year old daughter’s phone for some days while her own phone was being repaired.

WhatsApp messages dropped on the phone. Her daughter had passworded her WhatsApp so she couldn’t see the messages.

Out of curiosity, she tried some passwords and her daughter’s birthday was the password. She opened the WhatsApp and almost died, with the shock of what she saw.

A man in the next building had been chatting with her daughter. He had made several sexual advances towards her, which the daughter refused. He was adamant. He pursued her. He sent her recharge cards, came to her school to give her gifts and money.

He asked her if she had a boyfriend or have ever had intimacy, she said no. He pursued her some more.

He requested for her pictures, almost unclad, which she initially refused to send him but when he sent his, she sent hers. It was nothing too revealing as she was in her bra and underwear.

He taught her how to password her WhatsApp.

Then he pushed for more. He wanted to see her completely nude. She couldn’t take such a picture because she shared a room with her siblings.

He asked her to lock herself in the bathroom for them to have a video call.

She saw messages like “Did you like what you saw?” “ Stop being shy around me.” “Why are you afraid? Nobody will see you.” He sent a picture of his nudity to her. A girl of fifteen!

It became terrifying when her daughter sent a chat saying she saw him with his wife the other night and he ignored her. She knew her daughter had fallen and it was a matter of time before the guy had his way.

She contacted me and asked me for advice. I have helped her in the past so she felt she could confide in me.

The truth is, when such a thing happens, you have to get someone who will treat the man’s Bleep-up very well. Who is the person who will be angry enough to do that No other person than her father.

She was scared her husband will dump the blame on her. She was looking for another way to handle it without him.

I told her, “If you handle it quietly, the man will be wiser and will ensure he won’t be caught since he is obsessed with your daughter that he patiently groomed her. It is best he is disgraced and only her father will do that unless he is a useless man that’s when he will keep quiet.” I told her she is lucky the girl hadn’t agreed to be alone with the man anywhere. It was getting close to that.

Her husband didn’t disappoint me. Immediately he read the chats and saw the ‘manhood’ he took off to the man’s house that night. The wife ran after him. He banged continuously on the gate.

Well, the man got what was coming to him. He was disgraced. The evidence of their chats were there. His neighbours were shocked because he portrayed a picture of a saint but he was the devil and also a paedophile.

The husband wanted to take the matter to the Police but everyone begged. The landlord of their house and the man’s house also appealed to him not to escalate the matter. They begged him not to expose his chats on social media as his wife, my friend, had promised to do.

The culprit’s wife left him. He eventually had to move out of the house immediately the rent was due. The disgrace was too much for them to handle. Everywhere he went in the neighborhood, mothers were wary of him around their daughters.

They have collected the phones from their children. If you are not in university, no more phones.

How did they handle the girl? I asked them not to beat her. But the father refused to listen. He said she had brought disgrace to the household. He wanted to send her to the village but I stopped him. She needed therapy not to be shamed. I told the mother to take her to see a psychologist at Yaba left. It worked!

Older men groom very young girls and turn them into sex slaves. It was what this man was doing. The kind of chats they had was irritating coming from a grown man. He was able to make her do some of the things he wanted by doing them first.

That phone your daughter holds very dear to her heart, please once in a while, check it. Make sure she is not being groomed for someone’s perversion. Check what she is doing and advise her. Anyone younger than sixteen shouldn’t be on social media. Anyone still in secondary school shouldn’t be there too, regardless of their age.

Girls have been lured to travel abroad to be sex slaves, all by grooming or greed. They make them hate their families and believe they are the only ones that love them . They give them attention and say sweet things to them often. It is easy to fall for such.

Teach your children these signs and also do not expose them unnecessarily to these men. Paedophiles are evolving. They are getting smarter. We have to keep our girls safe.

Why can't I be successful in trading?

Most traders come across this career off a successful friend or colleague or from a story or video they read on the internet.

That is basically setting them up for failure immediately. Imagine you watched a pro Tennis player win a game and at the end of the day you joined a team to learn and decided to go pro a month later. You’d be eaten alive.

However, because the barrier to entry is so low for trading, people do just that. Here’s what you need to realize instead.

The average window it takes to learn this career and all the nuances and specifics you need to actually succeed here is between 5–10 years.

Most people hear they can make as much as a doctor but get frustrated if they can’t learn how in 6 months of hard weekend work. It takes a doctor 12 years of school and practice to make that type of money but traders expect it by buying a course for $1999.

That’s a lie. Sold by a failed trader to an aspiring trader.

Here’s how you succeed:

Accept that anyone can enter this business. As a result of a low barrier to entry, the washout rate is going to be extremely high. Think 90% plus within 24 months.
No one knows what works for them when they start so they try it all. Breakouts, pullbacks, ranges, equities, forex, options. They are chasing 13 strategies at a time and going no where.
You have to master one setup on one market before you move on. If you don’t know what to master first, take up to a month to decide trying out all of them on demo and then decide. This market does not reward the jack of all trades master of none.

Real risk management is not turning a $500 into $50,000. That’s massive gambling. Anyone who says that’s the way to succeed is a colossal salesman. If that was truly repeatable over and over again, they wouldn’t sell a system for $500-$5000, they’d just rinse and repeat their system.
Risk management is risking 1–2% of your account per trade. On a small account you may not be able to follow those rules, but you need to be thinking long term about trading a 6 figure account. Would you be taking this trade if you were risking $1,000 on it? If no, why take it just because you’re only risking $100? Traders who put their own time limit on this fail. It might take you 10 years to master this. If it does, would you still do it?

Money is the reason most start trading. Working from home, making more money, financial freedom, whatever it is. That can be a starting factor but it won’t give you the motivation to stick with the grind. Find your why, and you’ll get through the throat punches rather easily.

When you learn a system, back test, forward test and master it on a demo account as much as you can of it. The ultimate goal here is to build an edge and keep yourself out of the equation as much as possible. Whatever personal demons you have will show up in trading, you have to find a way to get past them. Everyone is unique here.

Books are someone’s life story in paper form. Trading books are exceptionally helpful. Read a book a month if not a week. There’s so much knowledge you can learn this way.
Technical and fundamental analysis both rely on personal decisions. There’s no perfect technical or fundamental buy point. It’s all a range that will be proved right or wrong by the market.

There’s no holy grail. What works on Monday fails on Tuesday. It’s about accepting its a coin flip but if you win $2 and lose $1 and do that 1000x you’ll make a lot of money. It’s all about making more on winners than you lose on your losers. Have a hard stop. Always. Mental stops means you’ll adjust when it’s hit. Don’t start if you aren’t truly wanting to finish. This is the toughest game on the planet. Money is not enough of a reason here.

Trading isn’t gambling. Learn the differences.
Find a mentor or a coach but only if they help you work on you. Copying someone’s else’s system is guaranteed failure long term. You’ll always be buying their new system or doubting their calls when they have a few losers. It’s an awful approach. Trust your edge once it’s there.

To start with, Nigeria is one the countries around the world that has terrible and absurd working conditions. Having spent nearly fifteen years in the blue collar jobs, I can categorically say that the government have not done well to ensure the safety and good welfare of the ordinary workers in Nigeria. The op has said it all and it's just so unfortunate that we are in this situation. Self reliance is surely the way.

It is very hard to start business in Nigeria. Go and ask people. The hindrances are so high. You must know this truth. But it doesnt mean you cannot.

Rule 1: Do not give anyone your money.
Rule 2: Do what you can handle yourself. Do not do beyond it.

Those two rules, take them serious. Leave out investments, bla bla bla aside. Do not give your money to anyone.

But if I were you, I would invest in my brain. Start learning a digital skill. Do not spend money. Everything you want to learn is on the internet. You may see reason to invest in buying a laptop soon.

There are many things you can learn under digital skills. UX/UI, Marketing, writing, sales, graphics, etc. There are many things. See eh...it may be a small laptop or even a phone you will invest in plus 3k data (20GB), you will need to get you going. And you start loading your brain with digital skills. Or maybe buy a laptop.

Anyway, start with having around 20GB monthly data and start watching youtube videos. Invest in some online tutorial in udemy and coursera. But first sit down and research which area you want to learn.

Another area, you may want to look into learning car diagnostics. Then, use your money get yourself as a certified engineer of a brand like toyota that people will be looking for. You arent a mechanic....mechanics call you to help them find out what's wrong. Then, you set up yourself as importer of replaceable parts too. What I know is that if you go into lorries and big vehicles, you will make it. Thaoe ones with Diesel engines. Make your research very well. You can learn everything online amd pass the exam. Sit down and make a thorough research.

Dear nairaLanders, I need your candid and honest solution to this complaint. Last month, I ordered a mifi router of a particular network provider via online purchase and unfortunately I realized that the SIM card to the router was not included in it. I guess because it comes with some certain amount of data bundles. Now because of the restrictions on SIM card purchase/registration which has now been restored though, I could not visit a nearby network provider outlet and the fact that their customer service representative was not helping issues. What can I do to have my mifi router working again?
