anochuko01: imagine trump erecting streetlights and Americans are rejoicing.
you see how stupîd it is?
America and Nigeria are not the same. America had experienced civilization even before the British came to Nigeria, talk more of when Nigeria experienced Independence.
Bro u are sounding envious and green with acrimony. Why can't u appreciate good governance in our own little understanding!
I sincerely doubt if u have good governor in your place, that would have done what Gburuguru have done in Enugu.
Enugu as a state is not Power drunk, unlike many states in Nigeria.Enugu has serious rotational policy going on! Enugu as a state hardly show off. Come to 042 city, your mouth will be wide open. From Chimaroke to Sullivan and now to Ifeanyi.
Tribalism is what is killing Nigerians. Most times, we mixed tribalism and Religion. The fact remains that Buharia has failed Nigerians woefully in the most glaring and embarrassing moments.
Corruptions hinders economic development, thus, the HDI, classified Nigeria as among the Less Developed Countries.
One of the major macroeconomics problems of any NATION is the issue of tackling a monster called UNEMPLOYMENT which hitherto, has Bred poverty, increased crime rate, break up marriages, widen inequality gap, loss of social standing, to mention but few. In Nigeria, it is also a major macroeconomic problem.
Education in Nigeria is all about acquiring certificate and what follow next, is having a white collar jobs which hitherto have benefited some fragments in the society and eluded many.
Today I will be discussing the reasons why Employment in the 70s, 80s and early 90s were predominantly available compared now in Nigeria, based on my own candid observation, thus, subject to criticism. The reasons are: 1.The economy was mostly agrarian(Agriculture) and could compete favourably well with other currencies of the world due to its exportation of cash crops, food crops, hide and skin etc.Thereby encouraging employment in those days and making our Naira to be valued.
2. Corruption was relatively low in those days.Nepotism, cronyism etc was hardly known in those days.As a result, Graduate of the early 70s, 80s and even 90s benefitted maximally, as they were gainfully employed into their respective field of endeavor.
3.Also, the demand for labour force was greatly in Vogue due to its Human Capital Formation strategy. The economy was still at its birth, trying to achieve economic growth and development, and therefore needed to harness its Natural resources optimally. As a result, labour force were gainfully employed and paid handsomely.
Also, graduates were highly placed in their specialised field of academic studied. Nothing like under-employment, unlike what we are seeing today.e.g A graduate of microbiology working in a bank or doing a menial job(mason)etc
In Nigeria today, the reverse is the case, based on what is enumerated above.
Education that is supposed to be an ASSETS to an individual and to the government, has been grossly under estimated. The value attached to education and being a graduate have been lost and made a laughing stock. Our Universities are churning out thousands of graduates in there respective academic field, with little or no hope of securing job opportunities.
Also, this so-called Jet Age or information Technology Age, otherwise known as Globalization has not really augured well with the Less Developed Countries(LDCs) like ours.It has instead favoured the developed countries. Lots of our jobs have been stolen away by this developed counterparts, as a result of the harmful effect on 'demonstration effects' on the part of our people. The demand and preferences for foreign and ostentatious goods have hitherto hampered our economy to the lowest ebb, thereby causing depreciation of our national currency.
Furthermore, Capital Intensive Mode of Production has been esteemed highly more than the Labour Intensive Mode.It has resulted into structural unemployment in Nigeria. Today in a banking industry, for instance, a lot of staff have been replaced with ATM gallery offices.
Such is life. Education is more than a white collar job. The common norm with graduate is getting white collar which was predominantly available in the early 70s, 80s and 90s.Reason being that, the economy as at then was relatively stable.Money has a great value and Naira compete favourably well with other currencies of the world.
Also the level of corruption experienced then, compared now, was very low.
Education was highly esteemed and being a graduate was really an ASSET to the person and to the government .
Further, Human capital formation was greatly needed in the early stage of economic growth and development. So competent graduate was highly needed in their respective field of endeavor. Infact, the demand for labour force was highly more than its supply. Thus, making their salaries to be very handsome
All this enumerated above were enjoyed and was in Vogue in those days.
In today's Nigeria, many things have changed and the reverse is just the case, in the so called jet age of globalization. Capital intensive mode of production have to some extend replaced Labour intensive mode.Resulting into structural unemployment.
SIaye: Chaiiiiii.. . Lwkmd o na so Jim iyke get bad mouth like this? Ruthless savage!
Has his bad mouth changed the economy of Nigeria.Gucci shoe or not, has it brought food to the table of the poor masses. Our love for foreign goods, including Gucci Shoes, have stolen our employment to foreign countries .This has resulted into mass under-utilisation of human and natural resources.
Do u know the employment opportunities that Gucci shoes have brought to the Italian in the course of the 3 stages of production(primary, secondary and tertiary)?
CollinsWeGlobe: Popular musician-turned-activist, Chukwuemeka Charles Oputa, popularly known as CharlyBoy, has criticized All Progressives Congress chieftain and Kogi West lawmaker, Dino Melaye over the new constructed bridge in his constituency.
He wrote on his Twitter page; "Abegi tell Dino to stop the break dancing on the The National Assembly floor. wunmi590: I recently got a job which gives me an opportunity to oversee people who are older than me.
Handling people who are older than me has been giving me a lot of issue, as I am a typical yoruba guy with a lot of respect.
But I discover that I find it hard sending somebody who can be my uncle and my dad.
I quickly have pity for people, that's why I can never work in the prison, even if I have a free employment there, because I might one day setting the prisoners free.
Nairalanders, how do you control older people under you to do their job diligently.
Must u include statement by sentimentally describing yourself to be a typical Yoruba man? Just digressed a little though. Well, the truth is that u have been assigned a responsibility as a senior staff or worker as the case be may.You have the sole responsibility to make sure that the jobs assigned to them are duly implemented. But u have to do that skillfully with professionality by using an example of a quality of a good leader.By this, you will be highly respected despite your age pa say. The wisdom of Solomon, has nothing to do with the old age of Metusallah
sacluxisback: He is a senseless idiot. Now they will say the youths lack what it takes.
he has already demonstrated it to Nigerians and to his people. As a young Governor and probably the first OKENE man to be governor of KOGI state, after decades of yearning for such seat, because the IGALA has the hegemony for that throne for decades. Now OKENE man has entered in person of Yahaya Bello, more wahala for dead body!!!!
Workers in Kogi State have asked Governor Yahaya Bello to disclose where their salaries are.
Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Onu Edoka, spoke on behalf of the workers on Friday at an event to mark the 40th anniversary of the union in the country. Workers in Kogi were paid 60 per cent of five months’ salary arrears last December and had yet to be paid January salaries.
Edoka, in a keynote address said, “Your Excellency, workers said I should ask you where our salaries are. As obedient servants, we are dying. As people who have contributed their quota in the development of the state and have left service, we are dying.
“To this end, we wish to compassionately appeal to you. We are aware that allocation came to Kogi State last month and by the statement of the Commissioner for Finance, what came as allocation to the state was put at N4.3bn while local governments got N3.8bn. But up until this moment, no salary has been paid in Kogi. Let our own not drop into River Niger again (sic).”
Edoka equally used the forum to speak on the alleged premature retirement of some workers, proscription of labour unions and the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by medical doctors in the state.
He said, “You will agree with me that appointment in this government has been upside down in the sense that junior workers are placed above seniors.
“Medical doctors in Kogi have been on strike for over one month. Mothers, children are dying at home. For this obvious fact, we appeal to the state government to call our doctors to a meeting and bring this mater to an end.
“Why the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have not joined the strike is because we have come to the realisation that strike may not be the solution to our problems any more. It is all about the person who is the chief executive and his state of mind on the development and welfare of workers.
“The proscription of unions in Kogi is completely detrimental to the progress of democracy, unacceptable to the Nigeria Labour Congress and completely illegal, and we shall not stand by it. We will speak for the voiceless and the same voice will still speak again. We shall resist it with the last drop of our blood to see that we will not be tamed in any form or turned beggars in our state.”
In his response, Bello said that the ongoing fight against corruption across the country would achieve greater success if organised labour strengthened itself and worked with the government to fish out corrupt officials.
Bello urged the NLC to fight for the welfare of Nigerian workers and play the role of whistle-blower to assist government in bringing corrupt officials to justice.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by his deputy, Simon Achuba, congratulated labour on its 40th anniversary and enjoined its leadership to always stand for what is good for workers and the country.
Yahaya Bello Vs KOGI people .This is just the beginning of sorrow. They asked for change, now they are enjoying it ironically.Young Governor, chilling himself with 4 wives.Which means that he has a greater responsibility.Chai Africa mentality!!!
Solomonudofia: Deeper Life founder, Pastor William Kumuyi has come out to say that he will be removing some of his doctrines.
Of course, Daddy Freeze was quick to point out a second ‘confession’ from a highly respected and renowned pastor in less than 24 hours.
The controversial OAP shared a post on Instagram showing Pastor Kumuyi’s tweet which is bound to have thrown the Deeper Life Ministry into chaos.
Daddy Freeze and the revolution that is Free Nation
Daddy freeze has quickly made a name for himself by creating a niche that tackles age-old Christian religious doctrines.
Being an OAP for popular radio station, Cool FM, gave him the platform he needed to lend his voice to every controversy that popped up among Nigerians.
However, he finally got our attention when he broached topics that were discussed in hushed tones or not at all in Nigerian Christian homes.
Earlier today, we reported that Daddy Freeze shared Benny Hinn post in which he admits to the fact that he may have overworked the prosperity teachings than was needed.
The controversial faith-healing televangelist said this in a shocking confession on Wednesday, February 21, in the wake of the death of renowned evangelist Billy Graham.
Daddy freeze was quick to share a post on Hinn’s admission, saying that “the thieves have started confessing,” captioning the post: “The thieves have started confessing.”
Daddy Freeze has also revealed via another Instagram post that when creating the branding for his drive, Free Nation, it was “ministered to me to make it about Christ, NOT about me.”
Daddy Freeze and tithing
Daddy Freeze’s anti-tithing protest gained a lot of attention this year. Apart from the attention, it also resulted in amazing things.
The Cool FM OAP really started his religious campaign and #freeTheSheeple movement sometime in 2016.
Since then, it has led to the some pretty awesome incidents.
In one of his Youtube videos, the Cool FM on-air personality and religious activist insists that God does not need our money.
He urged Christians to ask before doing paying tithe, offerings and anything in general.
Referring to instances of Pastors lying and taking advantage, Daddy Freeze also advised people to first understand everything before acting.
