Politics › N2.5bn In Maid's Account: Stella Oduah Denies Report by Sunnynwa(op): 12:08pm On Jul 04, 2016 |
Erstwhile Minister of Aviation and Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Sen. Stella Oduah, has debunked reports that Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was on her trail for allegedly stashing nearly N2.5 billion in a bank account she opened using the identity of her domestic aide.
In a statement on Monday, by her Head of Communications, Francisca Onyeisi, Senator Oduah said she received the reports while relaxing in her country home in Ogbaru, Anambra State.
This is even as she challenged publishers of the allegations to validate proofs that she was guilty.
Recall that a major News website, based in the US, yesterday, reported that EFCC sources revealed to it how Ms. Oduah used the name and pictures of the unnamed maid to set up the account, adding that she apparently opened the account with her housemaid’s name, image, and details without the housemaid’s knowledge.
However, describing the allegations as “totally false, baseless and at best the imagination of the publishers,” the ex-Minister said that “if the reports were true, I would have been arrested long before now, especially at a time when the EFCC is freezing accounts and going after opposition governors who enjoy same level of immunity as the president.”
The former minister, therefore, urged her supporters and the general public to ignore the reports, saying she had “made a mark in oil and gas and Agricultural businesses before joining politics.”
Also, recall that Princess Oduah was removed from office in February 2014 after she was found to have received armoured BMW cars, worth N255million, from an agency she supervised. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/07/oduah-denies-stashing-n2-5bn-domestic-aides-account/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

Sweetlemon: You people are NOT ok at all. Ok let's use your logic of increase in bread price. According to the Picture Buhari left it at 70k right? So how come it increased to N220? Who has been increasing it all this while?
Bottom line, bread is one particular commodity that has NEVER been stagnant for as long as I can remember in Nigeria. I remember quite well that bread was N150 just about 5 years ago. Wait a minute, who was in power then when it increased to N220? You see how you keep making a mess of yourself? According to you, the price of bread increasing from N150 to N220 over a period of 5 years is commensurate with a price increase of same commodity from 10 Kobo to 70 Kobo over a period less than 2 years. Now, let's do the maths. A.) 10k to 70k price increase = an increment of 70k - 10k = 60k. Therefore, percentage price increase = 60k/10k × 100% = 600% implying that under Buhari, the price of a loaf of bread increased by 600% in less than 2 years. B.) N150 to N220 price increase = an increment of N220 -N150 = N70 Therefore, the percentage price increase = N70/N150 × 100% = 46.67% implying that for the past 5 years, the price of bread has increased by only 46.67%. I can assure you that most of the increase within the last 5 years happened in the last one year under Buhari. How can any sane person compare the two scenarios above? I am tempted to think that most Buhari supporters have the same brain capacity like him. |

Aisha Buhari: An unfinished story How do you open a bank account in Nigeria? 1. You enter a bank. 2. You pick up the application forms. 3. You fill the form with all the required information. 4. You submit the form with all the mandatory requirements. The mandatory requirements include: 1. Two passport photographs. 2. To references who are current accounts holders with the bank. While most of us have been busy searching for Aisha Buhari in the United States, we fail to read the clear contents of William Jefferson's sentencing memo which says that THE SUM OF $170,000.00 WAS WIRED FROM AN ACCOUNT BELONGING TO ONE AISHA M. BUHARI IN NIGERIA. My questions are: 1. Why are we looking for Aisha Buhari in the United States? 2. Who is Aisha Buhari? 3. From which bank was that money wired? 4. Whose passport is in the account? 5. Who were the references that signed for her when she opened the account? 7. Can anyone locate the President's on the date that money was wired from Nigeria? Let us stop searching in Sokoto for what is in our Shokoto. https://m./139498269438352?view=permalink&id=1034971536557683 |
Politics › Theft Of Cooked Food On Fire Becomes Widespread In Ilorin - The Guardian by Sunnynwa(op): 1:06pm On Jun 27, 2016 |
Amidst the stinging hardship occasioned by the present economic recession in the country, the spate of insecurity is rising and taking a tinge of the ridiculous by the day. In Kwara State, cooking a pot of soup is now an invitation to robbers, as cases of eagle-eyed hungry men absconding with cooked food still on the fire is now a daily occurrence. The incident is widespread in areas without perimeter fencing and among women who cook or have opted to cook with coal pots. At each of such areas such as Tanke, Basin, Sango, Offa Garage, and Kilanko, the incident according to The Guardian investigations occurred over five times in just a week. According to Alhaja Hamidalat Olawale at Sango, “I was cooking around 5.00p.m. in readiness for the breaking of the fast for the day. It was beans and I decided to use coal pot at the open backyard. I had added all the food condiments and was waiting for the broth to dry up. But to my greatest surprise, I did not see the pot of the beans again. “I was shocked discovering this. What amazed me was that the thief did not come for it before it was ready; he or she came when the food was ready and we were already salivating, meaning the person must have been closely monitoring me.” Another victim, an undergraduate of the University of Ilorin, Anita Bazuaye, said it was her pot of soup that disappeared beside her window. “It was painful because as a student, it was difficult for me to get money again for another soup. In fact, when I managed to start cooking again, I did not leave the place until I had securely packed the pot inside my room.” Reacting to the development, the Police spokesman, Ajayi Okasanmi (ASP), said no formal report to that effect had come to him or anyone within the state command, but warned that “it is a serious matter and we will not take it lightly with anyone caught in the act. The Penal Code frowns at theft and we will treat anyone in the act accordingly.” A former chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Emmanuel Ayeoribe, said the development could not be divorced from the non-payment of workers’ salaries. “If nothing is urgently done to commence regular payment of salaries, very soon, people will start leaping over the fence to steal food, not just from unfenced quarters,” he warned. http://m.guardian.ng/news/theft-of-cooked-food-on-fire-becomes-widespread-in-ilorin/ |

chie8: SAHARA REPORTERS AND CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY AGAIINST THE CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF
The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to another round of campaign of calumny against the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai and his family by some unscrupulous elements as contained in Sahara Reporters story titled “Revealed: Buhari's Chief Of Army Staff, General Buratai, Wives Own Dubai Property”, alleging that Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Tukur Buratai, and his two wives are joint owners of a Dubai property that was paid for in one transaction posted on the website, this evening.
It is important to know that these baseless allegations were not new. In March this year, some groups of individuals under the aegis of “Concerned Citizens”, tried same smear campaign to their disappoinment, it could not fly, because it is not true.
You will recall early this week, there was similar campaign of calumny by yet another online news medium, The Cable, in which among other things, it alleged that wounded in action Nigerian Army personnel were abandoned by the Army, government and the nation which is not true.
Therefore, the latest round of smear campaign by Sahara Reporters is one of the series of campaigns of calumny by these faceless individuals to malign the Chief of Army Staff and the Nigerian Army. Yet, typical of blackmailers and mischief makers despite failures, they did not give up, hence they now found a willing accomplice reputed for muckraking like the Sahara Reporters. The online news medium this evening uploaded another campaign of calumny allegedly based on a petition by obviously fake and non-existent group it described as “Concerned Soldiers and Officers From the North East”.
The allegations contained in the Sahara Reporters write up are baseless and not correct. It is a fact that the Buratai family have two properties in Dubai that were paid for instamentally through personal savings three years ago. This, along with other personal assets have consistently been declared by General Buratai in his Assets Declaration Form as Commander Multinational Joint Task Force Commander and as Chief of Army Staff.
It is pertinent to state that the Chief of Army Staff does not have any account with Skye Bank as alleged, let alone making deposits in the imaginary bank account to the tune of the amount stated in the write up. Similarly, he has not been involved in any form of shady or dishonest transaction, not to talk of “contract scam”.
In addition, General Buratai was never near either Defence Headquarters or Army Headquarters in 2013. It is pertinent to also note that he was never a Director of procurement in Army Headquarters as alleged. As a matter of fact, the Nigerian Army never had a Directorate of Procurement till when he established one last year when he became Chief of Army Staff.
In a bid to rubbish the hard earned reputation and good name of the Chief of Army Staff, these blackmailers will stop at nothing hence all these kinds of mudslinging.
It is really worrisome that some people could condescend so low to fabricate baseless allegation against the Chief of Army Staff for reasons that could best be described as mischievous. It is equally worrisome that Sahara Reporters could lend space for this obvious mischief. We really do not believe that it is because the price is right.
Consequently, the public and indeed all well meaning persons should disregard this round of campaign of calumny against the Chief of Army Staff and similar ones because they are baseless and unfounded.
For the unscrupulous elements and their cohorts, these campaigns would prod the Nigerian Army and indeed the Chief of Army Staff to continue to serve the nation diligently and with utmost zeal.
You are kindly requested to disseminate this information to the public through your medium.
Thank you for your kind cooperation.
Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman Acting Director Army Public Relations
