It is glaring how APC got the highest vote, which actually came from the north, especially Kaduna and Kano a lot of under aged almargiris were used or how do you think they got 1.9 million votes, and nobody is saying anything about it. I just hate this so called APC hypocrites with a strong passion especially that so called Lai Mohammed (aka Mr. Big Mouth). They keep complaining and criticising at every slightest oppotunity . I just hope when they eventually get hold of power they will keep to their election promises or else they will all burn.

The yorubas on this thread should hide their face in shame. The war was between biafran and the international communities and not just Nigeria. The biafran soldiers fought with bravery and courage against a well fortified army yet they held the war for three years. SirShymexx:
Let's be honest: a war between Yorubas and Igbos would be so one-sided that the whole of Igboland might end getting destroyed the same way the Romans destroyed Carthage. But I noticed Yorubas, throughout history, don't go to the extreme after defeating an opponent in a war. They just defeat them - and leave them running for their lives.

Yorubas have fought so many wars. Unlike Igbos who throughout history only engaged in mgba akpukpa village wrestling in the village square, while wearing wrappers and wooly hat in the sun. Experience is the key here. Igbos are no match, regardless of the noise they pollute cyberspace with. They might win a shouting match with tears and ultimatums - but not a real war that requires experience and cerebral tactical approach.
Yorubas leave a conquered territory once they agree to be paying a stipulated amount as royalty and they also pledge allegiance to the political Headquarter in Oyo and Spiritual Temple in Ile-Ife and the Military Garrison of Ibadan. They will also agree to embrace yoruba culture, tradition and language. With those terms in place and adhered to, that settlements can be rest assured of peace. If attacked by any outsider, it shall be seen as an attack on the whole yorubas. That was the NATO arrangement of then.

Any act of disobedience or reneging on pledges, always lead to obliteration of such settlements and annihilation of its people. The baribas and nupes, some tribes in present day Benin Republic and Togo are classical examples.

Spartans had 300, we have 129,
Though you were few in number, but you were a battalion at heart,
They came in one way, you scattered them in seven ways,
You turned their nights into day and day into night,
Eclipsing their souls forever, vanquishing their spirits eternally, sending the invaders to the Hades and abyss of no return.

Against all odds, you demonstrated courage and wisdom,
You showed us the power of brain over brawn,
The advantage of wisdom over strength,
The superiority of effective number over numerical strength,
The effect of quick strategic thinking over chest beating.

How can 129 ''Spartans-like soldiers'' wipe out a garrison?
How can 129 ''Spartan-like soldiers'' ensure the capitulation of a whole Division of invaders of our serenity?
How can 129 ''Spartan-like soldiers'' ensure confusion and scampering of a Battalion of bandits and marauders?
Indeed, those that were with the Spartans in their imaginary forms, are more than the invading marauders.

The Defenders of the western region,
The lions of the Ore jungle that consumed every pretender calling himself somebody, when he is nobody,
The Sun that deems all pretending ''rising sun'',
The Oodua machines that recalibrate all malfunctioning compasses,
The Questioners and Thwarters of fake secession dreams.

We celebrate you and we say thank you for defending us and our canaanland, that flows with milk and honey, with your lives.

You are not forgotten our heroes, our own dear 129 ''Spartans''.

Idiagbon's position in the government was never the base of our argument. We face the might of the world for 3years, how can any Biafran be afraid of northerners?

Sorry for that, you were right, Nwosu never declared the result, he was halted by the military, but comparing that scenario with Orubebe whose actions were not even backed by a democratic president and that of Nwosu whose distractors were backed by a military tyrant is dishonesty on your part. The scenarios and dynamics were simply different, and so the analogy is flawed.

Sorry, bro I think you are getting ahead of yourself here. Awo was the one found guilty of treason and corrupt practices by a court of law, and subsequently and rightly jailed like a criminal , don't pour your frustrations on Zik.

Ilorin was already conquered, lost forever, how long would it have been before the rest of your land was outran, or have you forgotten why the capital of Oyo empire had to be shifted southward as Oyo Ile was lost to stronger northern groups like the Nupe.

And we are yet to discuss how a significant number of Yorubas ended up Muslims, there is a story about that.

There is nothing special about building clustered mud houses with no regard for living spaces and ventilation and terming it civilization. Oyo/ ife artworks were never better than those of Nri and Igbo ukwu.
Point of correction again. Awo was never jailed for corrupt practices but for trumped up charges of treason which were the handiwork of Zik and Balewa. God saw ahead of time and kept him in prison to save him from the blood thirst demons of 1966. it was Zik that was hand twisted by the British based on his corruption charges to form govt with Balewa.

Get your fact right. Ilorin was never conquered. It was a town that already had a high population of yoruba Muslim converts, who connived with the Muslim fulanis in their midst to oust Afonja, because they saw him as an idol worshipper. Tell us the war that was fought over Ilorin by the fulanis. Just one. That is why the Emirship goes down well with all of them in Ilorin because they see as a religious throne and not political throne. Mind you, Islam was introduced into Ilorin by the great Shongai Empire that has its capital in Gao in the 16th century. That is why there are some Arabic words already entrenched in Yoruba language, before the arrivals of the fulanis.

The fight with fulanis was never about religion to us, was more of culture and states fighting against each other. If Ibadan warriors were hell bent on taking over Ilorin, they would have. They left Ilorin because the yorubas there have already embraces Islam as their way of life and they respected their wishes. As far flung as Jebba is, is there no Oba there. As far flung as Ajaokuta is, is there no Oba there. That shows we left Ilorin alone because of kiths and kindred that said they are OK with their new found faith.

There is something special about building mud houses that are still standing till today. It shows our forefathers did not wait for the British before developing a building technology, that is enduring. Say that of the Igbos and let me give you backhand.

If Ndiigbo were made villains by the actions of military men of Igbo stock, then it's only fair that all the actions of other military rulers be used to judge their people, Nzeogwu was carrying out an Igbo agenda, therefore Idiagbon must be carrying out a Yoruba agenda and his actions/ inactions represents that of Yorubas.

Humphrey Nwosu stood against a military might, and still declared a Yoruba man a victor, he risked his life to do that, while your weeping General Was crying before the military might. Jega was up against a civilian regime, your analogy is flawed.

We know the circumstances that led to Zik alliance with the North, blame your Awo for that.

As an Igbo, emotionally I feel sad that Awo aligned with the North in 1967, but the strategic me, would have thought him, a fool, if he did otherwise. His decision was the best for Yorubaland, too bad that what's best for Yorubaland would always be bad for Igboland and vice versa.

Fulani was on the way to conquering Yorubaland, you lots have the British to thank for stopping that. With huge Muslim population in Yorubaland, the conquest would have been done and dusted in a day.

Igbo forefathers were not war mongers, they were not coverteous that they will seek to conquer other people and they lands they lived in relative Peace and harmony with their non Igbo neighbors, little wonder the East is full of many small ethnic groups, the Igbos never believed in conquest and assimiliation, they had conflicts, but on a minor level. The Igbo man principle is "bili kam bili"( live and let's live). If that be taken for weakness, then so be it.
Idiagbon was the CGS and not the HOS. Put any blame on Buhari. Are you afraid of facing the northerners or what?

Revisionist, show us where Humphrey Nwosu ever declared Abiola the winner, the way Jega declared GEJ the winner in 2011 and GMB in 2015.

Another revisionism. A man must be responsible for his action. He went into alliance with northerners and sold southerners to them. End of story. We know the reason why he did that. The British threatened him with jail term for his corrupt practises if he does not form government with the north. As a coward that he is, he back pedalled. He should have damn the consequences and formed government with Awo. All your other lies are just for Zik to save his face and deflect attention away from his corruption charges, that the British had against him.

The British did wetin? The liberalism of yorubas allows you to.embrace and worship whatever like you. But, you dare not enforce your believe on others, be it stone or wood. If people convert willingly, there is no crime in that. We did not see our war against the fulanis as religious, we saw it as a threat to a yoruba nation and statehood and we fought back accordingly. People that later converted did by their own conviction and involution. The same goes for christianity. That is why the 2 religions can co-habit even with traditionalist with minimal tension. We do not have any British to thank for anything.

Rather, you should thank the British and be paying royalties to them for the next millennium, for stopping you from dancing round a pot of boiling human being, for showing you how to build enduring houses, for bringing you down from tree tops and for teaching you how to build towns.

All great empires all over the world from the Saxons, to the Egyptians Greeks, Mongols, Romans, Hun Chinese, etc are expansionist and imperialistic in nature. Telling us your forefathers are not war mongers clearly showed the state of their evolution at that point in time and the military laziness, mental primitiveness and their lack of ambition and vision.

Without any apology to anybody, I am.proud of being a descendant of an empire building, military ruthless, all conquering, spiritually aware, physically endowed, imperialistic great yoruba culture and tradition.

Was never defeated and can never be defeated.

There was never a time the British left the Nigerian people to decide on disintegration of their Zoo( Nigeria), there was never a secession clause. That matter had long been trashed on Nairaland here.

Zik was a man who understood the " Yoruba problem", and dealt with it, his alliance with the North and Awo's treachery that led to it, had also been trashed on Nairaland many times.

Have you forgotten that it was an Igbo man, Humphrey Nwosu that was the NEC chairman that declared Abiola the winner of the election, even when it was rumoured that Abiola had boasted that he didnt need Ndiigbo to win the election.

Have you forgotten that Idiagbon a Yoruba man was the Vp to the then tyrant Buhari, have you forgotten that Awo also became a house boy to another Northern tyrant Gowon with the support of the whole Yoruba nation. Have you forgotten that even as we speak, the Yorubas have helped another Northern tyrant into power, and a Yoruba man remain his VP.

The Fulani match to capture the rest of Yorubaland was only stopped by the British, you have them to thank, you were never a match to your Northern masters! With you lots having your kiriji wrestling matches amongst yourselves, the Northern( Fulani) match to Lagos Atlantic ocean would have been smooth and with No resistance.
Nigerians wrote the constitution of 1956 and if they all resolve to include it, they could have. At least, they all spoke in one voice concerning independence, why not in favour of secession.

We are talking of politicians you are talking of military rulers. In the military anybody can be anybody's deputy. In politics you will choose your running mate. Your Idiagbon angle is null and void.

Jega just demonstrated what Humphrey Nwosu was lacking. The stealth and nerve to dare all consequences. The same Nwosu never finished announcing the result just because Halilu Akilu harassed him the same way Orubebe harassed Jega. Another act of cowardice from an Igboman.

Zik could align with the North in 1960, so what stopped Awo from aligning with same in 1967? At least Zik started it and Awo played Igbos in their own game. Do me I do you, God no go vex? Simple.

See this revisionist.
Read about the Jalumi war and how the fulanis were dealt eternal blow. The Oluyole warriors routed them. Read up on the battle of Ognomosho and the resounding beating they got.
The only place they ever had a good hold on was Ilorin and that was because there was already a large population of muslims in Ilorin, which they connived with to oust Afonja, who they saw as an idol worshipper.

That was even a connivance of the yorubas and the fulanis that were muslim.

Tell us one single war ever fought by your forefathers. Tell us one single land ever conquered by your forefathers. Cowardice is passed down through the gene.

Looking at your strategy in retrospect, is it not obvious that it was a failure. the other strategy would have drawn away the army from your land, to defend their towns, thereby taking the war to them.

You would have built a buffer for your land that could have been used to negotiate, if you were able to hold your conquered territories for a while.

The Yoruba Problem

1. The Yorubas were never going to support Biafra in the war against the North, as doing that will lead to Yorubaland being the battle ground between the North and the East, with loss of property and lives in Yorubaland, while the East and North and their people remain in peace.

2. Yorubas still have a huge part of their territory and people trapped in the geographical North( Kwara and Kogi), through the Kogi, Kwara and Islam( about half of Yorubas are Muslims) Yorubas will always have a strong sense of connection to the North and sympathy to their causes, don't let anyone deceive you.

3. Yorubas stood to gain nothing if the East left the federation, as they were much interested in partaking in the newly discovered oil wealth of the East. And if the East left, the Yorubas would become a minority to the North and slaves to a new country containing them and the North, the Yorubas needed the East in Nigeria to help balance out the North and give them( Yorubas) a little freedom.
If they had declared Odua republic, they would be easily invaded and outran by the North, who would need the sea access the North offered, they are too close, geographically to the Arewa north.

This was the Yoruba problem in 1967, and remains a Yoruba problem today. Yorubas can never be neutrals in any conflict between the East and North. They will be stupid to be neutral or support the East, there is simply nothing for them to gain from such.

Yorubas will always be natural political enemies of Ndiigbo, it's no fault of theirs, it's the only war they can go, if they are not to incure losses as a people.
Another make me feel good conjectures.

Yorubas that are in Kwara and Kogi are there because of the artificial state creation. The same way you keep claiming there are people of Igbo descents in virtually all SS states. There is nothing you can do about it. Culturally they might be Igbo, if they accept, but politically they are in SS. Likewise the igbos in benue, they are not in SE, they are in NC.

Culturally they are Yorubas and based on.political division, they are in NC. The same with all other large ethnic groups in the country.

1. Have you forgotten that igbos connived with the hausas for secession clause not to be included in the constitution

2. Have you forgotten that Zik licked the northern blocos once again to.form .government with Balewa.

3. Have you forgotten that Arthur Nzeribe called for the annulment of June 12, which was implemented by IBB.

4. Have you forgotten that Daniel Kanu was busy jumping around the country organising 5million man match for Abacha with Youth Earnestly Asked for Abacha Campaign

Igbos have been caressing the northern a55 from time immemorial and you are known to.be inconsequential in the scheme of things.

No ethnic grouped has dealt blows to the north in this country than.the Yorubas. No wonder the Emir of Kano had to cry out that -- Yorubas are the only stumbling block to them from ruling this country as their father's estate.

NONE. Not a single pix. Maybe the oldman Duru aka Deridegull and Dede1 will have such in his war memorabilia or archives. Alas, they were getting fatter and cheeky and their miserable populace, that they were purportedly fighting for where looking like walking corpse.

What a leadership!!!!!! No wonder the bandits leader had to run away in mini skirt, spaghetti strap and stilleto shoes.

Stop ranting!! the soldiers mentioned were not yorubas rather, they were hausas. Yorubas cannot and will never fight a war due to their cowardice.
See chest beater.

The bottom line is 129 soldiers, led by a yorubaman defeated the marauding Biafra bandits and ended their eternal dream

Their lies of NA killing only men and women make them look more stup1d?

Where were the men when the women and children were being killed? Probably off to Abidjan or Cameroon too, like their sissy bandit war lord?

Or

Was it the women and children that were fighting the war, while their cowardly men were busy hiding?

How do you expect hamlet square warriors, fighting over Ngozi or Ada, to have a Spartan-like attitude, skill, strategy, wit and mentality.

That is why they could be facing T72 tanks with cassava sticks.
